Sanks was born Alharis Galvra Sanktimas, the eldest son of a destitute family. He had two younger brothers, Erland and Cheris, and a baby sister named Kalutah. Their family did what they could as farmers, though they hardly had enough to feed themselves, not to mention have anything left over to sell in town. When Sanks was ten he got a job in town doing deliveries for grocers and artisans, fetching a penny or two per trip. Kalutah was born when he was fourteen and, soon after, the territory that they lived in was attacked. It was far away from their home but there was still a great deal of worry and their father left to fight for them, which helped since it paid well and the boys were all old enough to help with the farm chores or do simple jobs in town. Money was coming to them far more plentifully but with five of them, one of them being a baby, it was still rough. The invaders were primarily nonhumans and this gave Sanks a great fear of them, made even worse when his father was killed in combat after fighting for 2 years.��

Areas of the territory were taken over by nonhumans but the waves never reached home. Not in the sense of an invasion, that is. A vampire, Tilmarah Barbas, came to their farm, wounded and starving when Sanks was 23. She drank half a dairy cow before Sanks found her and, even with his fear, got her inside the barn before dawn. He nursed her back to health, learning that the monsters were more human that he had been led to believe. He grew sickly though, since the cow wasn’t producing as much milk since she was healing from the attack, so he wasn’t eating as much, trying to keep the family making money, and he didn’t have enough blood to keep his health up. He’d gotten a better job in town as an apprentice to the seamstress but he was unable to go until he was healthy. 

Then Erland and Timarah both went missing, even though he’d been so careful to keep the family from finding her. He took to the streets regardless of his health and found Erland’s dead body on the side of the road, having been attacked and abandoned on his way home. He recognized the puncture wounds in Erland’s neck and he knew that it was his fault that his brother was dead. He decided to kill himself, since he was the cause of his brother’s death and how poor the family had gotten in the past couple months. Without Erland’s pay Kalutah would soon have to take work and she was only 9. He went out of town, into the plains that hadn’t been made into farmland yet and slit his own throat with a fish knife. Before he had bled out completely though he was found by Timarah and she paid him back in kind, saving his life and making him into a vampire. 

He killed her three years later, nailing her to the ground with a stake and tearing out her throat with his teeth, chewing until he could rip her head from her shoulders and throw it in the river. Once she was dead he tried to undo the harm that she’d done, tried not to hurt humans, tried to be a “good monster” but it didn’t work. He was captured and chained by the militia his father had died with, turned into a reaver through blood starvation. They studied him and used him to hunt down and kill other monsters. He was no more than a hunting dog. 

He was stuck with the militia for 28 years before he had the chance to kill and drink his handlers. After that he ran into the forest and tried to heal. It took him 4 years to drink himself back to full sanity and he swore he would never attempt alliance with humans again. When he came back out and rejoined society he went to Theat, a nonhuman town in the middle of nowhere. 

The militia had changed into the NHPF (NonHuman Protection Force) and under the new king it became illegal to not be human. Theat became a small safe space for them, putting their differences to the side, and Sanks grew more and more powerful.

Two weeks have passed since King Richard was laid to rest. The newly crowed Queen Alisha can no longer avoid war. Eleanor sends a dying Sorey back to Gand with Velvet and the Fiertia's crew so that he might live out his remaining time with Mikleo in peace. Yuri and Ludger join them so that they might find passage to Reize Maxia by way of Gand. After all, you need a Malak to get through the Schism. However, Grand Shepherd Artorius stands in their way due to a suspected attempt on his life. The unforeseen downtime is not kind to Yuri.

Asbel struggles to deal with his grief over losing Richard and Sophie in the face of new fatherhood and diplomatic responsibility. It falls to him to help Alisha mediate negotiations with Gand and the remaining gentry. However, something about their emissary Shepherd Van Grants doesn't sit right with him especially after seeing how Tear and Luke react to seeing him. He asks Jude and Milla to help him get to the bottom of it.

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Four high-value target (HVT) drug personalities were arrested while some PHP850,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation in this city, a ranking police official said Monday.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Llanera, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) officer-in-charge (OIC)-director, identified the arrested suspects as Nursa Alih, 32; Margani Alhari, 29; and two minors.

Llanera said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 12:10 p.m. Sunday along Socorro Street, Barangay Mercedes, this city.

Llanera said seized from the suspects were some 120 grams of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated value of PHP850,000, and PHP299,000 boodle money topped with one genuine PHP1,000 bill as marked money.

He said the suspects were placed under the temporary custody of Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 4 for proper disposition.

However, he said that two of the four suspects will be turned over to the center for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) in Barangay Culianan, this city since they are minors.

“Our fight against illegal drugs is more compelling that we cannot lower our guard. While we continue to preserve our youth and protect them from ill-effect of drugs, we are saddened by the direct involvement of these two minors,” Llanera said.

“We remind every parent to closely monitor their children and keep them away from illegal drugs before it is too late,” he added. (PNA)
