A Leader’s Great Influence
Hello! We are Group 3 and today we proudly present to you our blog!
To give you all a short preview, when all our essays are compiled, it revolves around one topic - A Leader’s Power in Effect to his or her Followers.
✯
─── ──── ──── ❝ Ways of being a Leader ❞ ──── ──── ───
(By: Alfonso Herrero)
Napoleon, who is the leader of Animal Farm, and Duterte, who is the President of the Philippines, have some similarities and differences on how they run their government and how they rule their people. Sometimes, one leader is better than the other in how they do things. With so much power in their possession, Napoleon and Duterte used their powers in many different ways that made their own followers have conflict with themselves or their supporters into their enemies.
These two leaders have a distinct way of addressing their followers. They both have others who act as a dictionary to make the people understand what they said or did. These two leaders have others twist their words and actions to make it less controversial. Duterte has Roque as the Presidential Spokesperson, as he is the one who sometimes, sits in front of the cameras to repeat what the president said. Napoleon has Squealer to explain his actions to the other animals to make them think that Napoleon is not breaking the seven commandments.
Both of these leaders have lied to their followers multiple times. These promises were made as a way to gain the favor of everyone. Back at the 2016 election, Duterte promised to fight for the West Philippine Sea. Right now, all we see is him being friendly with China and just letting them take what is rightfully ours. Napoleon lied to the animals because he broke majority of the rules that he implemented for everyone. An obvious commandment he broke was “Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy” as we read in the last chapter that he was walking on two legs.
These two leaders, no matter what they do, they will always have some people who will not always agree with them. While they experience the same thing, they have different ways on how to respond to those people. Napoleon will kill anyone who will go against him. Like how he killed the chickens because they weren’t willing to give up their eggs. He killed other animals as well because they confessed that they had been working with Snowball all along. As for Duterte, he answers back to his critics in a non-professional way and acts immaturely. When he receives criticism from anyone, he will take it as a personal attack and not as a way to improve himself. An example of this is how he responded to Leni Robredo’s criticism against him during Typhoon Ulysses. He answered back to Robredo by saying that she herself was not doing anything and that she was just sleeping with another man while the Typhoon was happening.
Both Napoleon and Duterte have a special group of people that will help them intimidate their opponents and anyone who will try to go against them. This show of force is a way to strike fear within people so any sort of resistance against them will be discouraged. Duterte’s way of intimidating people is with the use of the Military and Police. He uses the military and police against the communist party of the Philippines and any drug users. Napoleon has his dogs that he stole from their parents when they were born. Napoleon uses the dogs to chase Snowball out of Animal Farm and to kill animals who confessed their crimes.
The people in their land work hard for the benefit of everyone else, but they were treated differently. In the Philippines, when you’re a taxpayer and already retired, every month you get a pension depending on how much you contributed during your working days. Another benefit is that you are granted benefits from PhilHealth if anything happens to you or to anyone from your family. Napoleon treats his people differently. He bosses everyone around only for the benefits of himself and not for other animals. He has no respect towards them and doesn’t care about their contribution to the animal farm. He killed the chickens because they did not want to give up their eggs and he killed Boxer because he could no longer do his work properly.
Napoleon and Duterte have some similarities and differences on how they run the land that they lead. One similarity is that they lied to their people to gain their favor and one difference is how they treat the people who work hard for the benefit of their land. While our officials are terrible leaders right now, we’re lucky they aren’t worse than other leaders were.

── ─── ❝ Perfecting Absolute Fascist-Communism ❞ ─── ──
(By: Allan Dela Cruz)
In animal farm, Orwell explicitly made direct allegories to real-life counterparts. Among which include the creation of animal farm; in which the real-life counterpart would be the Russian revolution – seeing as the animals overthrew the “Czar” in this case. The different and diverse class system and their familiar government system named “animal system” which screams of the modern-day socialist system built by Marx. But the most prominent similarity by far is the representation of totalitarian dictators, in this case, Napoleon; is to Stalin.
Both leaders assert their influence in both the military and the constitution. Both have played their own share of politics – and both have won with ruthless force and became dictators. Using both of their absolute and authoritarian power to corrupt and exploit too much of what is, “necessary”. And both having been an inspirational leader. These are the qualities that Orwell clearly wanted to point out to his readers. In terms of contrast, while both leaders are downright power-hungry. I think with Napoleon; he is more interested in his personal (or his kin’s) goals and gains compared to Stalin. While Stalin is greedy, greedy in a sense for the “betterment” of his country, I mean all classes regardless of noble-born or peasants as he was one of the people who revolted against the much privileged and unfair Czars that it only made sense to him for Russia to reform. Stalin's problem was his means to get there, which involved the gulags that made them no better than the 3rd Reich. I do not think Napoleon and the pigs care about the other farm animals, as they focus too much on their self-interest and abuse it to the point of exploiting the other animals. While Stalin technically exploited his citizens, his “first plan" [also called the great turn] – industrialized and modernized Russia in just five years. Russia turned into a once primitive and backward empire - whilst taking no heed by the Czars - into a prospering union – with the help of the gulags of course. While back in animal farm, while they have their own version of gulags – albeit less brutal – the benefits they get from it anyway is almost nonexistent, and that most of it just goes immediately to the pig’s self-interest.
That being said, I think what Orwell’s trying to aim at is that the nature of totalitarianism can be easily distinguished – albeit the way he portrays it can be exaggerated – and that it must be avoided, which is propaganda really.

── ❝ The Practice of Abuse in the Russian Revolution ❞ ──
(By: Eurick Gamboa)
Orwell has allegories hidden in the story Animal Farm. It overlooks the Russian revolution. The Animal Farm also focused on the system dictatorship, symbolizing Napoleon. There was also a social class system which was called the “Animal System”, which shows the modern day socialism system. Orwell's main message in Animal Farm is that power can corrupt, even when idealism is at the start. The allegory of the Russian Revolution of 1917, where the Bolsheviks overthrew the tsar to establish a communist regime.
One of the novel’s most impressive accomplishments, is its portraits of not just the figures in power, but also the oppressed people themselves. Animal Farm is not told from the perspective of any character in the story. Rather, the story is told from the perspective of the common animals as a group. Foolish, loyal, corrupt, and hardworking, the animals gives Orwell a chance to tell how situations of oppression rose, not only from the motives of the oppressors, but also from the naiveness of the oppressed. When presented with a situation, one of the characters, Boxer, prefers not to be suspicious, so instead he repeats to himself the mottos such as, “Napoleon is always right” and “I will work harder.” Animal Farm demonstrates how the inability to question authority criticizes the working class to suffer the full extent of the ruling class’s oppression.
One of the Commandments was “All animals are equal”. However, this equality was shortly diminished and the pigs began to bend the rules until inequality returned to the farm and the pigs gained power. Orwell used the animals and their actions to make the reader think about equality and inequality. Before 1917, the majority of Russian people suffered from great inequality. They had far less money and food than the ruling classes. However, before the rebellion in Animal Farm, Mr. Jones takes everything that the animals have been keeping or have been caring for away from them. After the Rebellion the animals were free from the tyranny of Mr. Jones and seek to establish equality amongst themselves once and for all.
In conclusion, Orwell's message warns readers about allowing smart, selfish politicians to abuse power and gradually take away civil rights and independence. He warns his readers about the various methods of manipulation and propaganda used by oppressive regimes to crush and control the people.

─── ──── ──── ❝ Napoleon and Trump ❞ ──── ──── ───
(By: Breanna Geronimo)
The boar, named Napoleon, is the leader of animal farm. He became the leader of the Animal Farm (also known as Manor Farm) when the animals rebelled against the humans, specifically Mr. Jones which was the owner of the Manor Farm. The current President of the United States now is Donald Trump, he won his position last January 20, 2017 and his term will end on January 20, 2021.
Napoleon is a corrupt leader because he only does things that benefits himself. One example was when he stole the idea of Snowball, which was to build a windmill. Another example is that he would also use Squealer to tell all of the animals lies and anything that will make him look correct and good. He is also a greedy leader because he wants all the power of being a leader to be his. He also has a tendency to get too much of everything/ tend to get things that he does not need. An example is when he and the pigs drinks all of the milk and does not give/ provide for the other animals. In my opinion, he is a leader who does not promote/ give equality, because he does not treat the animals equally. For an instance, he said that “no animal, shall sleep in a bed” then he changed it to “no animal, shall sleep in bed, with blankets.” He changed the rules so that he and the pigs can sleep in a bed, while the other animals aren’t allowed to.
Trump as I have said is the President of the United States. He is a corrupt president, because just like Napoleon, he would do anything that can benefit him and his family. For an instance, he corrupted the tax system and funded his own taxes (David Halperin, Oct 26,2020). President Trump can also be a greedy leader because he eviscerated health care, because of his hatred for the former President of the United States, Barack Obama. In my opinion, I also do know and believe that he is a President who does not give/ promote equality. For an instance, He calls “Black Lives Matter (BLM)” a symbol of hate. I do believe that what some of the Americans did was inappropriate (like breaking glass of buildings and stealing) but he still does not have the right to say that it was a symbol of hate. Because what the Americans only wanted was for them to have equality.
Both Napoleon and President Trump are leaders of a certain area/place and they can also tend to be corrupt and greedy leaders. The only difference that I can find between Napoleon and President Trump is that Napoleon is a fictional character and President Trump is not. They are also not the same type of animal Napoleon is a boar while President Trump is human. I just hope that someday people will be able to learn from people who are trustworthy, kind and loving to their country and countrymen.

─── ──── ──── ❝ The Rule of Dictators ❞ ──── ──── ───
(By: Liezl Montemayor)
Lives dictated by leaders, such as Napoleon and Ferdinand Marcos, had their followers struggle with threats, abuses, and inexorable deaths. These two leaders are corrupt and used all means to keep their power and wealth all for themselves. Because of how much they wanted to satisfy their greed for power has brought many to rebel against them. Therefore, corrupt and dictating leaders, such as themselves, must be impeached for a better society.
To start, Napoleon and Ferdinand Marcos have quite a similarity in their excellent side of leadership traits, though they will soon break their image of good leadership in the future. An example of Napoleon’s leadership trait is uniting and directing the animals to a specific goal. He also organized the structure of power of the animals on the farm. On the other hand, Ferdinand Marcos treats his officials with civility and respect. He also approved building infrastructures to increase the economic growth of the Philippines.
With such leadership, there is no doubt that the threats and civil strife will arise against Napoleon and Ferdinand Marcos’s position. Luckily, they could see this coming and used their power to threaten and terrorize such menace against them. For Napoleon, he used his loyal dogs as a shield to protect his position. Meanwhile, Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law, which will soon bring abuse, threats, and deaths among his country’s people.
The dogs, Napoleon raised were used to kill and terrorize the animals who dared to threaten their master’s position. They were monsters that got brainwashed with the teachings they learned from Napoleon as they were isolated when young. Because of such a horrific event that the animals experienced, Napoleon’s greed has shown that the surviving animals could no longer differentiate pigs from humans. At the same time, Ferdinand Marcos was no different from being greedy with all that he possessed. He violated human rights of his citizens through armed forces and other means. Then, time went by that these violations could no longer be tolerated, and people started to perform reformist oppositions, revolutionary oppositions, and religious oppositions.
Greed to gain power is the paramount satisfaction of leaders that corrupt and abuse their followers and environment. To attain a prosperous state, a leader must have a great passion and qualities that may influence everyone and everything that surrounds them. Keep in mind; dictators have pros and cons that significantly affect their followers and the situation itself. Goals are set for citizens to seek development of their environment, not its destruction. Eyes must open to free oneself from lies and fear because a life dictated like a puppet is not a solution for a better society everyone aims for.

The Battle for Press Freedom
When Covid-19 hits the Philippines, the economy went down. The struggle for life, food to survive and the freedom to know has been crucial. News provides necessary information that we need to be able to understand the virus, to know what are the do's and dont's. But the government deprived this country the freedom to know when they chooses to imprisoned Miss Maria Resa and denying ABS-CBN to renew their franchise amid the Covid-19. "This is a big blow against press freedom in our country and deprived millions of Filipinos of new, entertainment and assistance!" Rodriguez said in a Viber message. (Cepeda, 2020)
There's no exact law that protect and uphold press freedom in the Philippines but there's the 1987 CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES – ARTICLE III. The Bill on Rights Section five says "No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances."
This is the reason why the Philippines is the fifth deadliest country for journalist (Salaverria, 2019) because it's not directed to protect the life and right of every journalist to press freedom disintegrating the media.
President Rodrigo Duterte has personally vowed to put the channel and its subsidiaries out of business, even telling its executives to just sell the company. He earlier also publicly spoke about his ire against ABS-CBN for not airing his political ads during the May 2016 elections, where he eventually won. However, Calida insisted that the case is not motivated by politics. (CNN, 2020)
Photo courtesy: The New York Times
Last May 4 the franchise of ABS-CBN has expired and the government denies for renewal because of the "network’s alleged violations of its franchise, the Constitution, labor and tax laws, and biased reporting and meddling in politics." (Dela Cruz, 2020) "The National Telecommunications Commission has since ordered it to cease its television and radio operations and to stop broadcasting its TV Plus and Sky Direct channels." (Cepeda, 2020)
When the dual citizenship of ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III was questioned, the Department of Justice confirmed he is both Filipino and American. Bureau of Internal Revenue officials also repeatedly told lawmakers that ABS-CBN had been paying the proper taxes in the past two decades. (Cepeda, 2020)
Even the defenders of ABS-CBN in the House of Representative insisted the network deserve a new franchise because the government officials cleared them of any wrong doing. Which is ironic because the government agencies contradicts the allegations of lawmakers.
The hearing ended with 70 votes denying the network for franchise renewal and 11 in favor, two inhibited and one abstained.

"JUSTICE,LOVE,FAMILY" She heard the sound of the raindrops, the touch of the wind when she open the window, it’s very relaxing and a beautiful night to her but suddenly that beautiful moment stopped when she heard a sound from the kitchen, she went downstairs and checked what’s in there, then she saw a man with black suit holding a knife. She turned on the light.
Zien: Who are you and what are you doing here!?
but a man didn’t answer her but then he step forward to her, he touch her face and he cut it she shouted and then Zien heard some footstep, she saw her father
Father: Who are you?! Don’t touch my daughter!
While the man raised his knife ready to stab her, her father run towards them. She don’t feel anything instead she heard her mom shouting she open her eyes and she saw her father on the floor with his blood he save her daughter. The man run but he left his knife.
That was 1 year ago when that accident happened to her family and the police is still hunting the man who killed her father but they always fail to find the man and until now she didn't know who the man is. A year ago when that accident happened, she already moved on but she didn't stop looking to the man who killed her father. Zien will be the new CEO of the Dela Cruz Company when she finish her study. She has a best friend named Ace, he comes from a very wealthy family, Ace's father and her father was a business partners but sadly her father died because of what happen a year ago. The time when her father died, Ace's family was always there for Dela Cruz family, they're always there to help them and as time past by they became best friends.
Zien is walking in the hallway and she feel like there is someone who's always looking at her, that feeling is not new to her because every time she walked by herself, she can always feel that someone is watching her, when she was thinking about that Ace suddenly appeared to her front that made her nervous.
Zien: Omyghaad! What the, Ace!? You're giving me a heart attack!
Ace: Oh easy, it's just me hahaha
Zien: What do you want?
Ace: I just want to go with you, can I?
Zien: Yeah of course
It's the last subject of the day and she plan to go to the supermarket but Ace appeared in front of her again.
Ace: Where are you going after class?
Zien: I’m going to the supermarket, why?
Ace: Can I come with you?
Zien: Oh sure!
They are now going to the supermarket; Zien is looking at Ace while Ace is driving she really admiring Ace because of his looks and a very kind and smart man. Ace accompanied Zien to her house.
Zien: Thank you for the ride.
Ace: You're always welcome Zien
Zien smiled sweetly and she suddenly felt a soft lips on her forehead, Ace kissed her forehead and she can feel her heart bump so fast like it's gonna get out from her chest. She entered her house wearing a big smile in her lips, she saw her mother cooking in the kitchen.
Zien: Hi mom
Mother: Oh hi my beautiful daughter how's your school?
Zien: It’s okay mom, Ace drived me home
Mother: Oh really? You two look good together honey
Zien just smiled to her mother and go upstairs.
Zien and Ace became best friends since her father died but in that year she fell in love with his best friend Ace but she couldn't tell Ace about her feelings because she's afraid of what will happen. 1 month later, nothings new, Ace is always with Zien driving her home. One night when she is her room, she heard a sound downstairs, she opened her room then she went to her mother’s room and she saw her mother peacefully sleeping then she went downstairs and thinking that it can be the man who killed her father who's making the noise. She turned on the light then she saw a man on the window ready to jump, Zien froze that time and her heart beat so fast, but before the man jumped he turn his head and looked at Zien, Zien run after the man but sadly she didn't catch him. After that night Zien is always thinking of what happen, she's thinking if why did the man didn't hurt her.
Ace: hey you okay, are there something bothering you?
Zien: oh ace, yeah I’m okay it’s just that I was just thinking something
Ace: what was your thinking about?
Zien: Nothing, oh by the way why are you here?
Ace: I’m about to go to the cafeteria but I saw you, let’s eat lunch?
Zien: your treat? Haha
Ace: as always
When they are inside the cafeteria Zien feels there’s someone watching them. She looks around and she saw a man wearing black suit.
Ace: you okay? What are you looking?
Zien: oh nothing it’s just like there’s someone looking at us
Ace turns his head
Ace: Maybe you’re just hallucinating, let’s eat.
It’s already 6 in the evening and Zien just go home by herself because Ace can’t accompany her this time. Exactly 7 o’clock she already on front of her house and she about to open the gate when she heard the dog barking behind the tree, she’s curios about it so she walk towards the tree and when she step her foot she saw a man running from the tree, there’s a man hiding behind the tree. Zien went inside their house and close the gate. Zien can’t sleep because of what happened. She always thinking who that is man looking on her every time. It’s already 3 am when she falls asleep.
5 o clock in the morning and Zien is walking in the street to buy some bread he notice a man after her, he always looking Zien that’s why Zien walked so fast she went in the store. When she went out she feels relieve because she didn’t see the man, she run fast when she go back to her house.

Men 2: Relax we have a plan
Men 3: I just can’t wait I want that fucking money and documents I want that company to be mine.

Zien and Ace are inside the cafeteria until Zien bringing out the topic about the man she saw inside her house.
Zien: Ace I have something to tell you
Ace: what was that?

Ace: oh that, maybe it was just your secret admirer haha
Zien: no Ace I’m serious
Ace: I’m serious too, Can we go out later?
Zien: are you asking me for a date? Haha
Ace: Maybe? Haha

Anahí acordou cedo, Helena cuidou dela o dia inteiro.

Ponte Romana
Capitulo: 183 - Livro 3
Anahí: Não. – Respondeu, olhando-o. Ele ergueu as sobrancelhas, surpreso – Não vou desistir. – Alfonso beijou o nariz dela – Mas tenha calma comigo. Eu me desacostumei de pertencer a alguém. – Ele a abraçou, erguendo-a do chão. Alfonso: Vai dar tudo certo. Vamos aos poucos. – Disse, e ela afundou o rosto no ombro dele, aspirando o perfume.
– Perguntou, ainda abraçada a ele. – Murmurou. Ele puxou o laço, desfazendo, e puxou a tampa. Carlos fechou a caixa, respirando fundo. Carlos: Chamem o pessoal da policia técnica. Tirem isso de cima da minha mesa. – Disse, cansado, e saiu da sala. Mensagem final: Quem procura, acha.
– Joseph riu, pondo o notebook do lado. – Perguntou, tirando o sobretudo. Joseph: Com Matt, no Canadá. Anahí tirou o cabelo do rosto. – Perguntou, tentando organizar a mente. Me apeguei a aquele animal. – Suspirou.
Joseph: Venha aqui. –Perguntou, sorrindo. – Ela engasgou. Joseph: Perdê-lo. – Completou, e ela assentiu. – E então? Anahí: Nós vamos embora. – Joseph sorriu – Ele vai deixar Candice... – Joseph ergueu a sobrancelha – Eu vim buscar o passaporte, e roupas, e... Joe, eu não quero perder você. - Disse, abraçando-o subitamente, afundando o rosto no pescoço dele enquanto as lagrimas transbordavam. Joseph: Shhh. Você nunca vai me perder. – Tranquilizou, beijando o cabelo dela.
– Murmurou, rouca, encarando-o. Joseph: Eu sempre vou amar você. – Respondeu, beijando a mão dela – Agora vá. Carlos, parado atrás dela, ergueu as sobrancelhas.

‘Care Divas’: A Special Run for the New Filipino Heroes
The Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) in partnership with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) present the special run of Care Divas – an original Pinoy musical to pay tribute to all overseas Filipino workers as the present-day heroes of our country with performances beginning June 24 until July 30, 2017 at The PETA Theater Center.
Care Divas is a disarmingly funny and candid musical drama about 5 transgender Overseas Filipino Workers in Israel who work as caregivers in the morning and transform into glamorous drag queen performers at night. While desperate to make ends meet, they also struggle to search for acceptance in a foreign land.
Care Divas is showing from June 24 until July 30 at the PETA Theater Center. For inquiries and ticket reservations, contact PETA Marketing and Public Relations Office at Tel. No. 725-6244, [email protected] or Ticket World at 891-9999, www.ticketworld.com.ph.
To Promote and Protect the Welfare of OFWs
As part of OWWA’s 35th anniversary celebration, the organization opens the special run of Care Divas on June 24 to signal it’s renewed our commitment to promoting and protecting the welfares of Overseas Filipino Workers.
“Engaging in this partnership on our 35th anniversary is our way of showing that OWWA is not just an infrastructure but a community of people working together with a common and united goal and aspiration for to care for our Filipino migrants,” shares OWWA Administrator, Hans Leo J. Cacdac.
Aside from this project, OWWA is also continuously providing social, education and training, workers welfare assistance and reintegration program attuned to the needs of OFWs and their families.
What really makes or breaks a caregiver?
Caregivers, also known as home health or personal care aides, give assistance to people who are sick, injured, mentally or physically disabled, or the elderly and fragile. Caregivers must be compassionate, possess stamina, and very conscious of time management. Their job descriptions include bathing and bathroom functions, walking and light exercise, plan and prepare meals, feeding, grooming, taking medication, and some housework like making beds and change linens, dusting, and vacuuming, laundry, and ironing. They also make and keep appointments with doctors, provide or arrange transportation and serve as a companion for their clients. Caregivers might need to lift clients into the bathtub, cars and into bed, and need strength. They help their clients engage in activities (games, memory books) and most of all, companionship.
The theme of ‘caregiver’ as a job coupled with its ups and downs have been adopted with varying plots that center on the family in film, television, radio, print – novels, poetry, essays; visual arts and in the theater.
“PETA is no stranger to the issue of migration. We have created plays draws attention to the plight of the millions of unsung heroes of the country. Audiences who have seen our past plays on migration like Pasaporte and Karaoke Dreams, readily identified with the stories of the Filipino diaspora and its effects on the Filipino family. Our musical Care Divas presents the phenomenon of migration through the lens of transgender migrant Filipino’s working in Israel, shares PETA President CB Garrucho.“
Hopefully, this forthcoming run will entice our OFW heroes who have returned to our country to watch the musical together with their families because this is especially dedicated to them.
For this special run of Care Divas, audiences will meet our caregivers as characterized by the kind and loving Chelsea, the often-sarcastic group leader Shai, the ditzy Thalia, the bubbly Kayla, and the ill-tempered Jonee.
Care Divas: The Hit Musical
Care Divas was produced and premiered in 2011. The musical dominated the 2011 Philstage Gawad Buhay! Awards, bagging seven trophies including Outstanding Stage Direction, Outstanding Musical Direction, Outstanding Musical Production and Outstanding Ensemble Performance for a Musical.

Chot Reyes plans to play Gilas Final 12 for Seaba against PBA All-Stars in Cebu game
GILAS Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes plans to deviate from the original format for the final stop of this year’s PBA All-Stars as he’s looking instead to pit the national team’s final 12-man roster against the Cebu selection on Sunday.
The disclosure was made by Reyes during the final practice of the national team training pool on Monday night prior to heading for the week-long, mid-season spectacle that kicks off with the Cagayan de Oro game on Wednesday.
“Yeah, that’s the plan,” Reyes stressed when asked about the move.
Under the original set-up, a Gilas selection composed of Jayson Castro, Calvin Abueva, Japeth Aguilar. Raymond Almazan. Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Von Pesumal, LA Revilla, Jio Jalalon, and Allein Maliksi will go up against the Cebu All-Star bannered by June Mar Fajardo and Terrence Romeo.
The lineups for both sides are bound to change if Reyes pushes through with the plan.
The veteran national coach will be announcing his 12-man team for the Southeast Asia Basketball Association (Seaba) Championship shortly after the Lucena leg of the All-Star Week on Friday.
But PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial said the league has yet been notified about any changes in the format of Sunday’s game to be held at the Lapu-Lapu gym.
“Hindi pa official yan,” he said. “Hindi namin alam kung may mga pag-uusap, pero as of now remain pa rin yung original format natin.”
Tim Cone is set to call the shots for the Cebu squad, but also hinted about the sudden change in plans after lamenting he’ll not be able to get a chance of coaching either Fajardo or Romeo for the first time.
“I understand I will be coaching against the final roster which I think is a little unfair to me, coaching against the final roster,” Cone said with a laugh in his post-game interview following Barangay Ginebra’s 107-89 win over TnT Katropa on Sunday.
“It’s gonna be a tough game for us to win with one practice,” he added.
If it pushes through, it will be the first official game of Gilas before heading to the SEABA, set May 12 to 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The national team training pool had its last practice together prior to the All-Star on Monday at the Meralco gym, and Reyes was elated by the attendance that was perked up by the presence of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) chairman emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan.
“This is our first practice in training camp where nakarami tayo ng full scrimmage kasi walang pino-problema yung mga players na games on Wednesday or on the following day. So this was good for us,” he said.
Just about everybody in the pool was all accounted for – Fajardo, Romeo, Abueva, Aguilar, Almazan, Pogoy, Rosario, Pesumal, Revilla, Jalalon, Maliksi, Ed Daquioag, Jonathan Grey, Carl Bryan Cruz, Alfonso Gotladera, Bradwyn Guinto, Kevin Ferrer, Mac Belo, Almond Vosotros, Mike Tolomia.
Aguilar and Belo (injured) showed up in street clothes, while not around were Jayson Castro, Arnold Van Opstal, and injured players Russel Escoto and Art dela Cruz. – Spin.ph

"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. This, I did."
Meet Alfonso! And he wants nothing more than to get out of WIndenburg and explore the world. He has the dream and the drive ... and the skills are a work in progress. Wish him luck!
