Happy Wednesday! Can I request either frost of fury or craft of adoration for an update for prompt Wednesday? Hope all is well!
Nightshade has finally recovered from his beesting! though the trauma of it remains and he now hates bees.
i hurt my wrist which sucks because packing is bad enough without the ouch but i borrowed one of my bf's compression gloves for writing! so things are as well as they can be and they could be far worse considering my luck ^_^
i hope you are doing well! nightshade sends protection from bees if thats something youd like
i hope you enjoy the craft of adoration

Magnus stares in the direction the shadowhunters left for far longer than he should, certainly for for longer than he needs to.
Still…
Magnus steps off of the roof and lets his magic float him down to the ground and he steps slowly, boot landing by a deep groove in the asphalt and cement.
“Aren’t you such a delight.” Magnus murmurs to himself as he lets his memory play before him.
Magnus’ magic captured details his own eyes couldn’t and Magnus sucks in a startled breath, delight catching him unawares.
His shadowhunter is gorgeous, young but competent and with a clear aura of authority around him.
Petrichor is in the air — even though rain is far off — and Magnus tastes it on his tongue, opening his mouth to inhale the scent. It lingers from his shadowhunter’s whip, the electrum purifying all the ichor it touched.
“Well, aren’t you quite the find.” Magnus murmurs to the mirage his magic is projecting before he lets the picture fade with a wistful sigh. “Now then, lets see if you’re playing hard to get.”
Magnus lets his magic spill out, purging all other signatures as his hunts down the wielder of the whip that wounded the false ground so. The whip that pierced through ichor and metal and cement until it touched the dirt below and gave it hope.
Little seeds have been planted and Magnus nurtures them, calling up the well-fed and determined roots and vines until they poke through the cracks.
“Not so hard to get after all.” Magnus whispers aloud, a dark glee in his voice as he spins an orb of his own magic around the tiny shard of angelic energy.
It shouldn’t have been able to be harvested, but Magnus has killed enough nephilim to be very aware of their energy.
Even more than they themselves are.
It’s with delight that Magnus cradles the little piece of angelic energy that will betray it’s owner to him. Magnus portals home and then, in the middle of a quickly drawn array, he floods the room with magic and lifts the orb to his mouth, absorbing his own magic back even as he swallows—
Oh.
Magnus nearly moans at the taste of knowledge granted to him.
Alexander Gideon Lightwood.
Magnus’ precious Alexander then, for Magnus can’t imagine letting him go. Not when the shard of his energy was pure ambrosia and the imprint of Alexander’s nephil magic submitted to Magnus so eagerly.

“Stop it,” Alec groans as Max keeps on adding to the list of thing he should and should not do while in Indonesia.
“Don’t go out too late in the dark. It’s a new country, you don’t know anyone.”
“Max.”
“And don’t you forget to call us five times a day or you will be hearing words, young man,” Arianna teases.
“You two are insufferable,” Alec grumbles.
“Learnt from the best,” Ari adds.
Alec glances across and his eyes land on Magnus, who as it may seem is also accompanied by a teenager. A less annoying teenager than his’s Alec assumes.
“Alexander, here!” Magnus waves at him. There’s about four huge luggages on him and Alec chuckles inwardly, even after twenty hours, Magnus’s packing habits haven’t changed.
“I finally get to meet Magnus?” Arianna squeals which is weird but she’s not the one to ever get excited about meeting new people.
Maybe it’s just the Magnus effect.
“Hi, darling,” Magnus greets him as Alec reaches.
“Hey,” he whispers softly, trying to keep the blush out of his face otherwise Max or Arianna will never let him live this down. “Hi, Rafael,” Alec waves at Magnus’s son, who’s wearing a sequinned top and leather jeans.
Like father. Like son.
“Hi, Mr. Lightwood,” Rafael smiles.
“You can call me just Alec.”
“Okay just-Alec,” Rafael grins.
Magnus rolls his eyes at his son, before brushing hair off his face.
“Bapak, stop.” The boy chides.
Ari’s been standing quiet all this time. Silently peering at Magnus and he knows, that the man is going through Ari’s internal psycho-analyse metrics.
Magnus and Alec exchange a look. Then, Magnus turns fully towards the girl and lets out a hand. “Hello, Arianna. I’ve been wanting to meet you.”
She doesn’t reply, ignores the hand and just keeps on staring.
“Ari, I remember turning on your robot manual this morning. You’re supposed to say hi,” Max whispers, loud enough for everyone to hear.
They all chuckle and Alec’s heart squeezes, a familiar pain appearing at what could have been.
This. He could’ve had this for forever.
But he doesn't.

You saying this: "I also don’t think there is much of a relationship between them and Jocelyn." reminded of something that I found when I was diving into the every corner of the internet looking for crumbs of Robert like a very normal person. City of Glass outtakes
Now I'll reread it and act very normally. You have the full thing in the link. To me this is the part that matters:
“Enough sniping.” Robert Lightwood strode up the stairs. “Do you see all these people?” He threw an arm out, indicating the square below, which was packed wall to wall with Shadowhunters, some of them spilling out into nearby streets. Occasional sparks of witchlight showed their faces in intermittent flashes, as if dozens of cameras were going off at once. The sheer number of them terrified Clary, and some part of her — some small part, of which she was somewhat ashamed — had to admit that she was glad that her mother was here. “They’re all waiting for the Marks they’ve been promised. They’re all eager to get to the lake and protect it. The Downworlders are already there, waiting for us. The Portal is ready. We have to start Marking our fighters, now.” “Just because this is a time of crisis doesn’t mean the Clave can ignore the fact that Jocelyn Morgenstern has repeatedly broken the Law, stolen a Mortal Instrument —” “Actually,” said Robert, “that’s exactly what it means.” He raised his voice, and called down to the crowd below, “Nephilim!” he shouted. “In a few moments, we’re going to begin bestowing battle Marks on those of you who are going to fight. Once you’ve gotten your Mark, please proceed to the Portal inside the Hall; it will take you into the field. Those of you still in need of further weaponry, there are weapons in the Hall.” “Lightwood,” said Malachi, between his teeth, “You overstep your authority.” Jocelyn rolled her eyes and said to Clary, in a low but hardly inaudible voice, “Do you think you can invent a rune that will make him shut up?” A spasm of fury passed over Malachi’s face; without another word, he turned and stalked into the Hall. Robert watched him go with a look that might, under other circumstances, have been amusement. “You haven’t changed,” he said to Jocelyn, and then, with a clumsy pat of her shoulder, “I’m glad you’ve come back to us.” Jocelyn looked as if she wanted to object, but thought better of it. “Thank you, Robert.” He nodded. “I’ll start sending people up.” He glanced at Clary then, and frowned. “Have you seen Isabelle or Alexander?” “Uh, no,” Clary said. “Not recently.” She supposed that this was only partly a lie, depending on one’s definition of recently. “I see.” Robert Lightwood’s look was penetrating — and doubtful — enough that Clary was relieved when he turned and headed down the steps into the crowd.
I AM SO COMPLETELY NORMAL ABOUT THIS.... TOTALLY NORMAL... YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW NORMAL I AM RIGHT NOW ABOUT THIS...
ugh ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
- R
It’s totally normal behavior for the Crying Club for Robert. Don’t even worry about it.
And WHAT. That outtake was way better than what was published!

Through the Shadows, To the Edge of Night - Chapter 9
Weighed down by nightmares and bad memories, Alec Lightwood feels like he's just a ghost of the man he once was. When a new neighbor moves in next door and the man and his adorable charge become an integral part of his life, Alec starts to see a light out of the darkness…that is until a single horrific night forces him to relive the horrors of his past.
They moved quickly after their realization and Alec was pleased to see that not a single member of their assembled group had walked away. Clary liased with the NYPD, who was pulling together their own team, and would meet them at their destination. Lydia, thankfully, had the forethought to gather some gear and tech from the Institute before she’d left so they wouldn’t be going in entirely blind. Simon and Isabelle had disappeared at one point with promises of a quick return as they all got ready and when they’d turned back up, it was clear that they’d raided the FBI stashes as well. Alec really didn’t want to know what his sister had done to gain herself access inside.
He could tell that they were about ready to leave — Jace was checking his guns for the final time and Simon had set himself up a battle station on Alec’s kitchen table to help coordinate their efforts from the side lines as he wasn’t cleared for the field duty and didn’t want to get in anyone’s way. He’d already sent out a drone to the warehouse to do some preliminary reconnaissance so they had a clearer idea of what they were walking into.
Alec grabbed Magnus’ wrist and pulled him into his bedroom, shutting the door quietly behind them so that they weren’t disturbed. “Are you sure you’re ready for whatever it is we’re about to walk into? No one will think any less of you if you choose to stay here with Simon.”
Magnus’ eyes darkened at Alec’s words and he ripped his hand from his boyfriend’s grasp. “Are you saying that you think I’ll be a detriment to the group too? Just because I choose not to be a field agent, doesn’t mean I don’t go through the same training as everyone else. I prefer the luxury of my lab but that doesn’t mean I can’t handle a gun or a knife or defend myself should the need arise. I —”
“Magnus! I wasn’t implying that you couldn’t handle yourself, I just… I want you to be safe, okay? We still don’t entirely know what we’re going to find in there and…what if they take you too? Madzie needs you and if I think about the possibility of them getting their hands on you and what happened to me during the year that they had me…I can’t stand the thought of you  going through what I had to go through.”
His boyfriend’s face softened and his hand came up to cup Alec’s chin. “I know exactly what danger I’m opening myself up to, Alexander, but I’ll probably be the safest one in our party. I know you won’t leave my side and while I just met them, I have a feeling that your siblings won’t let you out of their sight ergo, we’ll both be under their watchful eyes. Besides, we’ve got people from the Institute, the FBI, and the NYPD… it won’t be like it was when you were taken and alone. There’s no possible way what happened to you happens again. We’ll be alright, Alexander.”
Alec sighed and he knew that there was no argument that he could make that would convince Magnus to sit on the sidelines, not when it was Madzie’s wellbeing on the line. “Just be safe, alright? I can’t lose you. Promise me that you’ll be safe.”
“Oh Alexander, only if you promise me that you’ll be safe too. You promised Madzie that we’d go and ride the carousel when it got warmer. She’d be ever so distraught if we couldn’t go.”
A knock from his bedroom door sounded before Alec had a chance to respond. His sister poked her head around the door and raised an eyebrow at the sight of the two of them standing in the middle of Alec’s bedroom. “I’m sorry to interrupt whatever this is, but we’re ready to go. Raphael and Jace managed to procure a couple of vans — everyone is packed and Simon’s ready to do whatever tech-y stuff he’s about to do. It’s time to head out to bring Madzie home.”
Magnus’ hand fell from Alec’s cheek to take his hand and give it a squeeze. “Come on then, Secret Agent Man. Show me what you’ve got.”
Isabelle cackled at Magnus’ blatant flirting and Alec had to bite back a groan. When all of this was passed them, his sister and his boyfriend were going to be an insufferable duo out to make his hair grey, he just knew it.
Their group piled into the two vans and the ride over to Dark Horse Ironworks was silent and Alec felt himself slipping in that mindset that he used for missions. They stopped the vans about half a mile out where they’d agreed to meet the NYPD because they didn’t want to give the Circle any notice that they had been made. Clary’s stepfather introduced himself and his team but deferred to Alec to fill everyone in and make sure they had a plan in place before they moved forward.
“Simon’s research turned up the plans that were originally filed with the city. As far as we can tell, there haven’t been any major renovations to the building since it was shut down. Besides the main entrance, there are three others and I think we should split into groups and tackle those that way — Jace, you and Iz take the back door, Clary and Raphael can take the one on the lower level and Lydia and Luke can take the side door.
“I’m gonna stop you right there, buddy,” Jace said, holding up a hand and cutting Alec off before he could continue. Lydia can go with Iz, Clary and Raphael are fine, and Luke and his team will work better together. I’m coming with you. We lost you once to these assholes, I’m not going to lose you again.”
“I won’t be alone,” Alec huffed though he already knew he was fighting a losing battle. “I’ll have Magnus.”
“And you’ll have Jace too,” Isabelle butted in as well. “It’s not up for negotiation, Alec. I have plenty of faith that you and Magnus would protect each other if the need arose but after thinking you were dead for a year only to learn you were being tortured while none of us could find even a trace of you, you’ll get extra body with you and you won’t complain about it. We need this, Alec. You might not think you need it but we need it for our peace of mind.”
“No harm in letting your brother come with us,” Magnus said softly, his voice just loud enough for Alec to hear. “I certainly wouldn’t mind an extra set of eyes making sure you’re okay.”
Alec wanted to groan but he knew that it wouldn’t do them any good. “Fine, Jace, Magnus and I take the front. Lydia and Iz will go through the back, Clary and Raphael are still on the lower level and Luke and the NYPD will take the side door. Remember, we don’t know exactly what we’re going to find in there but if it’s anything like I saw at Black Rock Farms, we can assume that there will be victims other than Madzie. Don’t shoot unless absolutely necessary, we don’t want to risk injuring any innocents and we want any Circle members we may find alive for questioning. Don’t be afraid to radio for assistance if you find yourself in need and don’t do anything stupid,” he paused, sending a pointed glance at his brother. “Looking at you, Jace.”
“I’m not the one that got kidnapped,” Jace muttered under his breath though Alec chose to ignore him and continue.
“Our goal here today is to get Madzie out safely. If we come across other victims in the process, we do the same for them. While we can’t rid ourselves of the Circle in one fell swoop, the Black Rock project ends here today. I’m giving you one more chance to walk away.” When no one did, Alec nodded to his team. “You’ve got your orders. Let’s move out.”
Magnus fell into step at Alec’s side and Jace took the rear as they made their way to the front door where they saw a familiar car sitting in a lone parking spot. “I see it,” Alec whispered to his brother, knowing Jace would try to point it out. Magnus made a soft hum in question next to him. “Institute issued sedan. The plates tell us it’s registered to Hodge. I can’t say I was expecting to see him here today - he may have thrown me to the wolves but it’s not like him to hurt a child.”
“Yeah, well…it seems we’ve learned a lot about Hodge tonight,” Jace grumbled, following Alec into the building, his gun at the ready.
The foyer of the building was dark and silent. There were the remains of a check in desk and waiting area that had seen better days and a handful of promotional material that had faded with age strewn across the floor. Alec stepped carefully, trying not to make too much noise as they moved through the rubble. His eyes took in every nook and cranny in the room, looking for obvious traps or cameras.
Finding none, nor any obvious signs that the building was even remotely occupied, Alec continued through a door that was hanging off its hinges into what he could only guess were offices when the Ironworks had been up and running. “Alec,” Isabelle’s voice crackled from the com device in his ear. “We’ve got…a situation. We’re handling but they’re not going to realize they aren’t alone for long. This place is going to be swarming soon - we had to call for triage.”
Jace swore but Alec ignored him. “Madzie?” He asked, frowning as he held up his hand for the rest of the party to stop.
“Not with us but there are others… they’re alive but they’re in bad shape.”
“Do what you need to do. The rest of us will carry on as quickly as we can. If anyone else comes across something, let us know ASAP,” he said, addressing the other teams who were on the same comms channel. He went to take another step forward but Magnus’ hand pulled him backward.
“Look,” his boyfriend whispered, pointing out something barely visible in the darkness of the building. “Blood splatter.”
“Are you sure?” Jace asked, squinting in the direction that Magnus was pointing. “I think that could just be dirt. This place is filthy.”
Magnus rolled his eyes. “Trust me, I’m sure. I make my living looking at this sort of stuff all day. That’s blood splatter and it looks like whoever it belonged to was on the move. There’s some more further down the hall,” he said, moving ahead of Alec and taking the lead as he followed the path.
Alec was grateful that his long legs let him keep up with the other man. Magnus followed the path through winding halls before stopping in front of a door illuminated by a single flickering bulb. Without saying a word, Magnus pointed to a small pool of blood oozing out from under the door. Alec pushed Magnus behind him and made two quick hand gestures to his brother to give him his orders before he grabbed the knob and twisted it open.
The room was fully lit, unlike the rest of the building they’d seen thus far and Alec’s eyes immediately found the source of the blood. “Fuck,” he swore, dropping to his knees at the sight of his former mentor currently bleeding out on the ground in front of him. “Hodge, hold on.”
“Alec, I’m sorry,” the other agent whispered as he weakly grabbed for Alec’s hand.
“Don’t talk,” Alec responded, looking around for something to stop the bleeding. “Save your strength. We’ll get out of here.”
“No, I have to tell you…we both know that I’m not getting out of here alive. I’ve already lost too much blood. I’m sorry for the part I played in what happened to you and I’m sorry that I didn’t do anything to get you back when it was clear that something had gone wrong. The sight of the state you were in when you stepped off that plane is something that will haunt me even in the afterlife. I taught you, I trained you, and I used that knowledge against you. I’m so sorry…and I know it’s not something I deserve forgiveness for.”
“You can tell me later, Hodge,” Alec said and he hated the tremble that he could hear in his voice. “Just stop, please.”
His mentor’s eyes flickered closed again. “I did believe in what the Circle was trying to accomplish. I thought that the Institute wasn’t doing enough to keep us safe. I let those misguided beliefs lead me into doing some terrible things but I swear to you I wasn’t aware of what they were doing with Black Rock. It’s not until he asked me to meet him here tonight and I saw the little girl, did I piece everything together. I tried to get her out, I did, I didn’t want anything to happen to her but —”
“Shh,” Alec whispered, blinking away the tears in his eyes before they could form. “It’s alright, Hodge…but Madzie. We need to find her. Where is she?”
“He has her in the main room,” Hodge replied, his voice weaker than it was before as it trailed off. “Through that door.”
Alec gave his mentor’s hand one last squeeze, knowing that it was likely the last time that he would see him before he turned his attention to his brother. “Jace…stay with him. He shouldn’t be alone.”
He let Magnus pull him to his feet and they crossed the room to the door Hodge had mentioned quickly. “Remember,” he whispered as his hand hovered over the knob. “Whatever happens, I’m here with you. Everything is going to be okay.”
The door opened to reveal the Iron Works proper. Giant rusty machinery loomed down at him from what seemed to be every single corner of the room. A single overhead emergency light was the only thing illuminating the large space. Under the bulb was an old wooden chair and two figures that Alec knew far too well — his little terrified neighbor and the man who had been responsible for the torture that Alec had endured for a year.
“Sebastian,” Alec growled, tightening the grip on his gun as he neared the center of the room. “I’d say it was lovely to see you again but I’d be lying through my teeth if I did.”
“Ah, look, it’s the one that got away. I must say, I enjoyed our time together greatly. Would you like to play again? I’ve learned some new tricks since we last met…or maybe you would prefer to watch while I show our little friend here everything I know?”
Madzie let out a scared sob and Magnus rushed forward. Sebastian placed his own gun against the little girl’s temple, his finger hovering over the trigger. “Ah, ah, ah. Not so fast, Mr. Bane. I would stay right there. You wouldn’t want me to spook, would you?” Magnus froze in place and lowered his gun at Sebastian’s words. The man gave them a wolfish grin. “And you know what? I frighten so easily, I think it’s best if you both lose those weapons, don’t you? Put them on the ground now please.”
Alec did as he was asked slowly. He knew that if he could just stall for a little bit longer, someone on the team was likely to find them and possibly even their odds. Magnus copied Alec’s motion and they both rose to their feet with their hands in the air. “See, that wasn’t so hard,” Sebastian sneered before turning his attention to the forensic technician. “Magnus Bane — you sure keep interesting company, I must admit. At first, I thought that you were nothing more than a rather irritating thorn in my side but imagine my surprise when we learned who your neighbor was. Two birds with one stone? The thought practically makes me giddy.”
“Let Madzie go, Sebastian,” Magnus gritted out. “She’s innocent. If you have a problem, it’s with me. I’m the one who got close to shutting down your pet project. She has nothing to do with this and neither does Alec.”
“Oh but Lightwood was such a fun toy that I wasn’t finished playing with…and it’s obvious he missed our time together too since he came right back to me! And why would I let this little one go? I’ve already got buyers clamoring for a piece of her. As for you, Bane…well, you are quite pretty. A little training and some learned obedience and I’m sure we can find some interest in you as well.”
Alec couldn’t help the growl that escaped his throat. He was sick and tired of playing Sebastian’s games and Madzie and Magnus shouldn’t have to hear the things coming out of his mouth. Movement from the machines behind Sebastion caught his attention and he tried not to give anything away as he noticed his brother lurking in the shadows, his gun aimed and ready.
“Mags,” Alec whispered, trying not to let his mouth move too much in case Sebastian could read lips. “Do you trust me? Really, really trust me?”
This close, he could read Magnus’ surprise. “Of course. With my life, with Madzie’s. Do you have a plan, Alexander?”
Alec made a humming noise before turning his attention back to Sebastian and fixing him with an icy glare. “You ruined my life for a year, Sebastian, you and your father…now Valentine is dead and I think it’s about time you joined him. I won’t let you ruin any more lives, not when I can do anything about it.” He glanced down at Madzie who had tears streaming in her face as she sobbed through the gag in her mouth. “Hey sweetpea, we’re going to get you out of here. I need you to look right at me, okay? Just focus on me.”
“What nonsense are you spouting, Lightwood? You have no way out even if you did, my men would take care of you before you could leave the building.”
“On me, Madzie. Ready? One,” he said softly as Sebastian continued to protest. He saw Jace step from the shadows and take aim. “Two,” he continued as he felt Magnus tense next to him. His brother’s finger hovered over the trigger. “Three.”
A shot rang out and the room went deadly quiet. Sebastian’s body fell to the floor.

welcome to london, MAGNUS BANE! did anyone ever tell you that you look just like HARRY SHUM JR? well, no matter, we hear that you are 35/400 and working as a/an WARLOCK FOR HIRE. we also hear that you currently HAVE your memories from MORTAL INSTRUMENTS and have a tendency to be FLIRTATIOUS as well as EXTRAVAGANT.
DEMOGRAPHICS
Name: Magnus Bane Relatives: Alexander Lightwood(Boyfriend) Occupation: High Warlock for Hire Birthday: December 8, early 1600s Age: 35/400 Sexual Orientation: Pansexual Moral Alignment: Chaotic Lawful Memory Status: Somewhat Intact
BACKGROUND
Magnus was born to a half-Dutch and half-Indonesian woman and the Prince of Hell Asmodeus in the 17th century in Jakarta, Indonesia, back then known as Batavia of the Dutch East Indies. He was born seemingly normal, only with unusual amber eyes.
Magnus was raised on a farm with his mother and her husband, both of whom raised him lovingly. However, when Magnus's warlock mark developed and they realized that he was the son of a demon, they both feared him. Magnus despised himself, and his mother soon hung herself in their barn. When he was ten, his stepfather attempted to drown him but was instead burned when Magnus lashed out with his powers at him. He was then brought up by churchmen and raised by the Silent Brothers of Madrid, Spain, in the 17th century. In their care, he was introduced to Ragnor Fell and became his student. He chose the name "Magnus Bane" after Ragnor told him warlocks identify themselves before others can for them. Years later, Magnus met and saved Catarina Loss from being burned as a witch, who later became his second lifelong, fellow immortal friend.
Somehow, Magnus has acquainted himself with his father, Asmodeus. Aware of his father's influence, Magnus occasionally brought up his power and notoriety and used this in his favor. Being a very skilled and powerful warlock, Magnus began charging for his services fairly young, even before he was a full-grown warlock. Though he was only less than twenty years old, he had already begun lying about his age, claiming to be hundreds of years old, old enough to know historical figures such as Julius Caesar and certain oracles, to increase his clients' confidence in him.
In 1977, Magnus finally returned to New York from a trip that he intended to only run for a week but instead kept getting extended until he was away from home for two years. Shortly after arriving, Magnus immediately realized that the city had changed for the worse. He also discovered that Camille and her vampires, while doped up on drugged humans, had begun uncontrollably feeding on and killing mundanes. Though he managed to help the New York werewolf pack solve the problem, Magnus found the disturbing circumstances of his most recent encounter with Camille too painful. He later contacted Catarina and had her perform memory spells on him to make him forget all his encounters with Camille in the twentieth century.
After years of partying in the 1970s, Magnus decided to pick up an introverted hobby. He briefly collected stamps but grew tired of the sorting and moved on to growing Bonsai trees, but found that it was pointless as he could just use magic to grow the plants. He went on to start a livelier hobby: throwing elaborate theme parties, which suited him better.
In 1989, giving the news Magnus had heard of what the Circle had been doing to Downworlders, he was having doubts about whether staying in New York, or finding a place where he would be safe. One night, a werewolf boy came to ask for his help, telling Magnus that his family had been captured by Valentine Morgenstern and his followers. Magnus then warned the Withelaws, who were at the New York Institute, that the Circle was in town violating the Accords. When Magnus confronted Valentine, he was making a little werewolf girl blind by putting silver coins over her eyes. Magnus fought Valentine until Lucian Graymark appeared, making Valentine and the rest of the Circle leave. When the fight was over, Magnus realized that he couldn't run away from the Circle, and decided to permanently stay in New York, becoming the High Warlock of Brooklyn.
Two years after the Uprising in 1993, Tessa was staying with Magnus in New York when Jocelyn Fairchild came to ask him to protect her daughter, Clary. In the beginning, Magnus treated her skeptically as he knew that she was a part of the Circle. However, after Jocelyn told them about her escape and that her daughter was in need of help, Tessa encouraged Magnus to listen to her. As a result, Tessa, in the place of an Iron Sister, then performed the Shadowhunter children's ritual on Clary with Brother Zachariah.
Eventually, he was hired by Jocelyn, to erase Clary's memories of seeing anything related to the Shadowhunter World. She initially wished to remove Clary's inner eye, which was providing her sight of Shadowhunter world, however, Magnus warned that this would likely kill Clary or in the least drive her to pure insanity. Instead, he cast a spell on her that would cause her to forget anything she saw that was related to the Shadowhunter World. But this spell would fade as time passed, needing to be recast every two years.
In 2007, because of the sign he left with the spell on her mind, Clary and the others went looking for him at his New York apartment during a party he was hosting, for which Isabelle Lightwood received an invitation from a kelpie in Pandemonium. Magnus, assuming that he was the one who gave them the invitation, said that he "must have been drunk" because he didn't usually give out invitations to Shadowhunters.
At first, he said nothing about recognizing Clary but eventually had to acknowledge the fact that he had known her since she was little, even commenting that he'd watched her grow up. At the party, he talked about his tragic past, and Alec Lightwood sympathized with him and tried to remove the morbid atmosphere, but Magnus brushed it off, claiming that it happened a long time ago. He openly flirted with Alec by asking him to call him and winking at him. Alec, however, who had yet to 'come out of the closet', thought he was in love with Jace Wayland, his adopted brother.
Magnus was later called upon by the Lightwoods to heal Alec, who had been fatally wounded while fighting the Greater Demon Abbadon. Isabelle said that when Magnus showed up he was quite in a rushed hurry to get Alec to a private room in order to heal him.
After fully recovering, Alec confronted his and Magnus's growing attraction to each other and asked him out. Upon learning that Alec had never kissed anyone, Magnus kissed him (resulting in the couple's first kiss with each other) before arranging for a date with him within the week.

Parabatai bond  Essay... Why they may all be destined to end
Parabatai: defined by Cassandra Clare as a rare intense where a pare of warriors connect/bond in childhood and then decide to knit their souls together so that they can always stay together and always carry a piece of the other inside them. Defined by the fandom as “ a type of (supposedly) platonic marriage”. Cassandra Clare also wants to claim it as a type of bond that is unique to the shadow world, but honestly I can name several pair of Parabatai all across different media’s. Just looking at early 2000′s children's anime and Disney esqu movies we have Ash/Pikachu, Yugi Muto/the Pharaoh, Hiccup/Toothless, Woody/Buzz, etc...
... If you share my taste in these media’s you probably noticed that of the 4 other series “Parabatai” I listed 3 out of 4 (Ash and Pikachu are still partners right?) have to split off from the other due to changes of destiny/life. This is also the case for man,y many parabatai in The Shadowhunter Chronicles. Sounding off pairs that are important enough for me to care about underneath
Jonathan Shadowhunter/David the Silent: Let’s began at the beginning. Jonathan Shadowhunter was the first ever Shadowhunter. His favorite person in the world was his companion David, who wasn’t as much of a fighter as Jonathan but was very smart and very good at keeping Jonathan grounded when necessary. After being traumatized by a greater demon when fighting alone one da, David gave up fighting (and speaking), and became the first ever silent brother. The story said this broke their bond and broke Jonathan down to tears. I am sure David still loved him though. David could have chosen to go back to being a mundane but instead chose to undergo the rituals to turn himself into a silent brother. David was never that into fighting/war. Everything he did he did out of love for Johnathan. When David was no longer able to be there for Jonathan as a solider, he found a new way as a Silent Brother.
Robert Lightwood/ Michael Wayland: Parabatai and joined at the hip as teenagers. When Michael confessed to having romantic feelings towards Robert confusion as to his own feelings and fears surrounded by change drove Robert to reject Michael in a cruel and harsh way. Their bond is officially severed after the uprising when Michael die,s and Robert is exiled. Decades later Robert still regards hurting Michael as the biggest mistake in his life, the persist moment when he lost faith in himself. It is only after he confesses to his oldest child what he did and how it still haunts him all these years, only after he is finally able to acknowledge within himself the importance of the memories he has of Michael, that Robert is able to finally turn his life around for the better.
Valentine Morgenstern/ Lucian Greymark: Parabatai while studying at the academy, and for a few years afterwards. When Luke started to doubt Valentine’s plans, Valentine took him to be ambushed by a pack of feral werewolves hoping Luke would be killed instead Luke was turned. After this Valentine and Luke became bitter enemy's. These two men who once had so much love for the other, now swore to destroy any plan the other had and would fight with the intent to kill upon seeing he other. Despite all this bad blood, both still loved the memories of who the other used to be, and it is implied that a lot of their hatred for who the other is now is born from grief over they Parabatai they lost.
William Herondale/James Carstairs: CC’s closest Parabatai pair. Both Will and Jem had their whole lives shattered by demons when they were just children, and afterwards questioned at times if it was still really had much of a reason to carry on. Then they met each other and decided that they had to carry on because they loved the other to much to leave them alone. These two are in a way echo’s of Jonathan and David, and like David Jem joins the brotherhood when it is no longer possible for him to stay with Will and Tessa as a shadowhunter. They lose the bonds, but keep their love for each other. Will calls silent city on a daily basis with some excuse for needing Brother Zachariah, and Jem faithfully answers every call.
Julian Backthorn/Emma Carstairs: Fall in love, turn into Giant “true Shadowhunters”. Their bond is severed when their runes are burned off by heavenly fire coursing though their veins. By this time though their relationship had already changed from a platonic one to a romantic one.
James Herondale/ Matthew Fairchild: The two that unquestionably love each other, but do not always love the others choices. As Parabatai they try to reach out to the other and help them. But both boys deal with so much and have trouble recognizing/excepting help when it when offered. Matthew is more aware of James issues than James is of Mathews, All though by the end of Chain of Iron even Matthew is at lose to understand James. James for his part only just starts to realize how sick Matthew may be. There are a lot of theories floating around that Matthew may being to sick to function as/ protect himself as a shadowhunter. With so much to recover from will their Parabatai bond last, or are they destined to seperate?
Cordelia Carstairs/ Lucie Herondale: The will they-won’t they pair. They have planed o one day become Parabatai since they were little girls, but have never gotten around to it. They are both nearly adults now and the story already seems to be puling them in opposite direction, so a lot of people now doubt that they will even make it to the ceremony.
Jace Herondale/ Alexander Lightwood: CC’ first pair of Parabatai, and so far the only pair to keep their bond for the whole series. Like seriously even when Jace died, he came back with the bond intact and Alec reporting that he only felt a little off for a few minutes. CC’s newest reasoning behind that is that there is apparently a delay time between one parabatai dying and the bond severing, and Jace came back before his and Alec’s had time to do more than fray at the edges. So that means that our boys stayed tethered together even when Jace was on his way to the afterlife. WOW (keep this reason CC, it actually kinda works). Jace and Alec’s bond has lasted the longest, but we still have 4 more books where something bad can happen to one of them, and they are now fighting in 2 wars at once.
Clary Fairchild/ SImon Lovelace: became Parabatai in between series, after both failing as a couple, and Simon going through multiple species changes. They are still parabatai in the most recent book but, like with Jace and Alec, we still have 4 future books that could change in. Clary, Jace, and Simon are CC’s three original main characters. She claims that the plan is to wrap up the Shadowhunter Chronicles for good in The Wicked Powers. What is the likelihood that she will leave all three of her original mains alive. I mean Clary already had a vision where “a version of herself” died, and Simon was originally supposed to die in COHF, but CC’s friends begged her to let him live.
While CC claims that Parabatai are rare in her universe, what seems to actually be rare is Parabatai staying bonded throughout the pairs lives. Why is that? Well lets remember that one of the rules for Parabatai is that they must meet and be bonded during childhood, Once they become adults they are no longer eligible. A fact of growing up is that lives and people change: We make friends, we love our friends, are there for them while we can be, and yet sometimes as we grow friends part ways. People die, they move away, or just grow apart. Memories of old friends and places we all used to hang out become beloved memories of being younger. During a time in our lives when we felt more innocent and care free. A time that sadly never lasts. In conclusion to why parabatai bonds tend to break parabatai could represent the close bonds of childhood, the friends who helped you grow into an adult, and some one who you are able to treasure your memories of as an adult, even if, due to circumstance, you no longer see that person as much or at all. Value your parabatai because you don’t know how long you will actually have them

Hello ! I just finish COI and I love your gabrily fics,
CHAIN OF IRON SPOILER
so can you do one about the part of Gabriel near death experience, maybe in the infirmary or Cecily realising Gabriel in distress with Anna, Christopher and Alexander in it ?
THANK YOU!! :’) You actually have the perfect request as I was already working on a piece on that exact topic. I plan to make an extended version of this soon, but for now, please enjoy!
WARNING: COI SPOILERS AHEAD
Stay With Me - Gabrily (Chain of Iron Fix-It Series by livia-dovehallow)
Characters: Gabriel Lightwood, Cecily Herondale-Lightwood, Anna Lightwood, Christopher Lightwood, Alexander Lightwood, Will Herondale, Thomas Lightwood, Alastair Carstairs
Time slowed down.
As if the world had stopped along with the beat of her heart, Cecily could only watch as the creature’s barbed tentacle grabbed hold of her Gabriel and brought him down.
“Father!” she heard her precious Kit scream before he ran toward Gabriel, Thomas and Alastair Carstairs close behind.
No, Cecily thought, Raziel, no, please no. She held the witchlight stone in her hand with a grip that should have shattered an ordinary rock. She knew she shouldn’t scream; Alexander was in the room, sitting quietly on the bed behind her, and she need not frighten him more than he already was.
“Be brave, my darling,” she had told him when they first fled up the stairs. She had tucked him in below the sheets, kissed his head, and gazed into his wide, scared eyes. “We are brave, yes?”
Alex had nodded and believed her. Cecily did not believe her own words now.
A scream—a terrified, broken scream—lay stuck in her throat. Gabriel was nowhere to be seen, taken below the murky waters. The only sign he was still alive were the signs of struggle in the rippling water and the young boys slashing vigorously at the creature’s extended body. Christopher was unlike his normal self; his face was hard, his body swinging and throwing with all its might. Cecily did not know what she would do if she lost them both today—the love of her life and their sweet, sweet boy.
She knew her marriage runes were symbolic—meant to display their vows of love and loyalty to one another—but she did not lose faith that there was something more. Something beyond symbols that connected her to Gabriel.
Come back to me, Cecily prayed. Come back to me, Gabriel. Please don’t leave me now.
.
.
This was not how Gabriel wanted to end his day. Or his life, for that matter.
The barbs on the tentacle twisted around him dug deep into his skin. Had he screamed with the pain then he would have drowned by now, surely. He heard Christopher’s shout before he went below the water and hoped he was all right. Gabriel wanted to live, but if giving his life meant his family would live, it was an easy decision.
Above him he could see the faintest of shadows indicating that there were people above him fighting to set him free. He knew from the shape of one of the shadows that it had to be Thomas and Christopher there, hacking away. The third shadow was anyone’s guess.
Gabriel thrashed, ignoring the continual digging of the barbs into his skin. He’d lost his knife in the fall but there was no time for sorrow now. Just as he was about to pull a Will Herondale and sink his teeth into the closest flesh, a ringing sound went through his mind.
Come back to me, Gabriel.
It was Cecily. He would know her voice anywhere. He thought of years past, when she had nearly died taking down a pack of Raum demons and he was sure he was moments away from losing her. He would not do that to her.
A wave of strength came over him. He turned his body and rammed against the boulder he had fallen from. He fought for a sturdy grip, reaching higher and higher until—
A hand clasped around his wrist and pulled hard. At the same moment, the tentacle engulfing him fell away with a screech, and the rest of his body came flying through the waves and back onto the solid rock, where he lay gasping for air.
“Father!”
“Uncle Gabriel!”
Gabriel coughed up water before looking up into the concerned and frightened eyes of his son and nephew. “Are you hurt?” he choked, reaching his hands toward the both of them.
Christopher burst; his lavender eyes wild. “Me? Father, you are bleeding! Thomas, where is your stele?”
Thomas fumbled at his coat desperately and swore. “Bridgestock took it from me!”
“Use mine.”
Gabriel glanced behind Thomas and was surprised to find Alastair Carstairs standing there. He held his hand out to Thomas, offering his stele with a softer expression on his face than Gabriel had ever recalled seeing. Without a moment’s hesitation, Thomas took the stele and began scribbling runes all over Gabriel’s arm.
The world suddenly went silent. Then, a roaring thunder sounded across the Institute lawn as the water that had filled the land drained away; the monstrous tentacles draining away with it.
“Bring him down,” Thomas said to Christopher. “They’ll be filling the infirmary soon.”
Christopher paled; his eyes wide toward the Institute. Gabriel started. He was badly injured and bleeding, but the look of fear on his son’s face paled in comparison. “What is it, Kit?”
Christopher swallowed; then, in a shaking whisper, said: “Mam’s coming.”
The boys scrambled quickly to bring Gabriel down to flat ground. Gabriel turned toward the doors. The closer Cecily got, the more he realized that the fierce expression on her face was not anger--it was desperation. She was, or at least had been, crying.
“Mam,” Christopher started, but faltered when Cecily reached them. She fell to her knees beside them and brought Kit into her arms in an iron embrace. “Are you hurt?” she fretted, looking him over. A stele had appeared in her hand, though from where, Gabriel couldn’t say. Years of marriage had not yet answered the mysterious origin of a mother’s love and protection.
Christopher shook his head. “Father—”
Cecily turned to him, her skin flushed, eyes wide with worry. She kissed Kit’s head and scrambled to Gabriel’s side, her eyes now scanning his body. He knew it was not a pretty sight—the barbs had torn his flesh and he’d lost a significant amount of blood. “Cecy—” he began and was promptly cut off.
“Boys, we must move him to the infirmary,” she commanded, gathering her skirts and squatting, ready to lift. “Now.”
There was no disobeying her; Thomas, Christopher, and Alastair all assisted her in lifting him off the ground without the slightest hint of hesitation or protest. The scenery passed Gabriel in a blur; of Anna spotting them and racing down from her position; Will running between the injured and barking commands; even James, Lucie, Matthew, and Cordelia appearing at the gates.
The infirmary was in chaos. Beds had been quickly assembled and set across the vast room. There had been no deaths reported yet, and Cecily Lightwood was determined to keep it that way.
After ensuring that all three of her children were safe and unhurt, she sent them upstairs to stay with Alexander. “Keep him busy,” she had told them, her heart racing. “He’s frightened.”
“So are we,” Anna had answered, but it was not argumentative. Cecily placed her hands on both their cheeks.
“Your father is a stubborn one,” she had said. She smiled, though it was wavering. “He will not go without a fight. I will make sure of that.”
With a flurry of kisses and “I love you’s,” the children finally left to care for their brother, leaving Cecily at Gabriel’s beside squeezing his hand tight while a Silent Brother tended to his wounds.
“Stay with me,” she whispered to him. His eyes were fluttering. He was fighting hard to stay awake, yet he had not the energy to do much else. Against her will, Cecily’s tears had begun to fall again. “Stay with me, Gabriel. I love you. I love you.”
Cecily had begun to fall into a dark pit of grief when she felt a hand grip her shoulder tight. She turned to find her brother looking at her intensely, concern evident in his expression. He said nothing, but she knew that he would always be there when she needed him, and here he was. “I can’t lose him,” she told him blankly.
“You won’t,” Will said.
“Is that what you told him, too?”
Will’s eyes were sad. “Yes. And here you are, aren’t you?”
Cecily placed her hand over her brother’s on her shoulder and looked back at Gabriel. His fight to stay awake was lost. He was too pale for her liking, his lips faded into the slightest memory of pink. “The children need their father.”
She felt a tugging at her arm and found herself being lifted from her seat and into Will’s arms. He held her tight and rubbed her back soothingly. “The last thing Gabriel would ever do is leave you or the children,” he assured her. “Not if he has any say about it. The man is a stubborn and loyal bastard.”
.
.
Cecily was unsure how much time had passed since she had last seen her children. Jem had come by to treat Gabriel, who slept, and had told her to take a break. It would do him no good if he woke and saw she had not eaten or slept.
When Cecily emerged from the infirmary, she found all three of her children posted along the wall across from the infirmary entrance. Anna and Christopher sat beside one another, each resting their head on the other’s. Alex sat in Christopher’s lap, his back to his brother’s chest, and was fast asleep. The sight alone warmed Cecily’s heart, a welcome distraction from the wounds that nearly tore the love of her life away from her.
She stepped forward and kneeled in front of them. She hated to wake them, but the corridor was cold, and she worried they may catch a cold waiting out there for too long. “Fy anwylyd,” she said gently, brushing their cheeks with the pads of her thumbs. “Come along. It’s much too cold to wait here.”
“Mam?” It was Alex, blinking sleepy eyes at her. He shifted his position, which woke Christopher with a sudden, “What ho!” and disoriented expression.
Cecily smiled gently at them. Her boys were such gentle people that sometimes she could not believe they came from her. “Come along now,” she repeated.
Anna lifted her head from Christopher’s with a tired scowl. “Watch your head,” she told him, rubbing her temple. “Those curls do not provide ample cushion for sudden movements.”
“Sorry,” Christopher mumbled, slowly becoming aware of his surroundings. “Mam,” he said upon noticing her kneeling in front of him. “Is Father all right?”
Cecily brushed his curls from his face. “He will be,” she said softly. “It will take time for him to heal, but he will be all right.”
Relief filled her children’s faces—even Anna’s, who had pretended she wasn’t terribly worried despite rightfully being so. “Can we see him?” she asked carefully. Cecily patted her knee.
“In a bit,” she told them and stood. She held her hands out to them, to help them stand or hand Alex over, whichever they chose. They chose to hand Alex over. He immediately hooked himself onto her neck and dug his heels into her side, firmly planting himself there in her arms. “He’s been given a sedative to sleep while the Brothers work to heal him. Your father will fret over us all if we have not eaten or slept before visiting him, you know.”
“Bridget is cooking a feast in the kitchen with so many people about the Institute. I hope there are still lemon tarts,” Christopher said wistfully. “I can save one for Father, too.”
Cecily smiled. “Let’s go find them before the others do.”
.
.
When Gabriel awoke, he had forgotten where he was. His body ached terribly and he could feel beads of sweat drip from the hair at the base of his neck. He could feel something warm in his hand—something comforting. He forced his eyes opened and groaned.
“Father,” someone gasped. The warm feeling—a hand—tightened in his and a head full of dark hair shot up beside him.
Cecily gazed at him, her grip strong as it ever was. Her hair had fallen from its pins when she rose from his shoulder, but he’d never been so happy to see her looks so disheveled. She rose her other hand and brushed at his cheek softly. “How are you feeling?” she whispered. Over her shoulder he could see his children. Anna, with Alexander climbing about her back, and Christopher stood beside each other, hope and weariness filling their eyes. He smiled at them all.
“I ache,” he admitted. “I don’t think I can move very much. But I don’t feel terribly under the weather.” He squeezed his wife’s hand with as much strength as he could muster. He saw the tension release from her shoulders and felt himself relax with her.
“Incredible!” Christopher said in awe. Gabriel met his son’s eyes and smiled in amusement. Christopher was observing the bandages across his body with fascination. “These were severe injuries, Father, and you only ache? I must figure out how that’s possible and recreate it in the lab.”
“I’ll do what I can to help,” Gabriel answered affectionately. Christopher grinned.
.
.
Cecily brushed away the hairs that had fallen into her husband’s eyes. He had regained color in his skin soon after waking up and looked like her lively Gabriel once again. She’d sat beside him for hours upon hours, her children coming and going throughout. “How many times do I have to tell you to stay with me?” she wondered aloud with a soft shake of her head. Gabriel chuckled. “This is not a request. It is a demand.”
“Leave this?” Gabriel asked, gesturing to their children asleep, their heads on the end of his bed, and Alex clearly enjoying the nook between Gabriel’s feet and the iron railing at the foot of his bed. He turned back to Cecily. “Not a chance. I’ve worked too hard to get here. I’m so sorry, Mrs. Lightwood, but I will not be throwing away all my hard work.”
Cecily’s smile grew until she could no longer hold in her laugh. “Hard work indeed,” she said and kissed him.

of track meets and heartbeats by fallenhurricane
Rating: General Summary: Alec takes a deep breath and rolls his shoulders, bouncing from foot to foot. He adjusts his grip on the pole one last time before starting his run.
His run feels good and right; his knees are pulling up high and the pole is steady, if a bit lighter than normal, in his hands. As he approaches the crossbar, he straightens and speeds up a bit, extending his arms above him. The bottom of the pole settles into the plant box and Alec swings himself forward and up, just as he’s done hundreds of times before.
But.
But.
While Alec has plans to clear this jump and advance to set his personal record, the pole that Camille loaned him has a different idea.

Please, Don't Turn Back by hmweasley
Rating: Teen Summary: Once they're 18, both demons and angels must visit Earth with their own personal missions before they come of age. For angels, this means saving souls. For demons, it usually means little more than corrupting a human or two, but Magnus isn't a run-of-the-mill demon. He's the son of a Prince of Hell, and his mission must reflect that. What Asmodeus gives him is a mission that's rather straightforward on paper: kill Alexander Lightwood, the son of high-ranking angels.
There's just one thing the plan doesn't account for: how Alexander makes Magnus feel.

Rating: Teen Summary: "Oh. Yeah. You know how you invited Magnus Bane to Jace and Clary's wedding as a joke?" Alec shrugged. "He actually showed up. We went out for lunch yesterday."
Silence. It was silent. The kind that Alec craved and usually could never find and wow, he should drop bombs like this more often because he really liked it.
Then Jace ruined it by nearly screaming, "I'm sorry, what!"
(In which there's a wedding, some celebrities may be nicer than they appear, and Alec is trying to keep himself from turning into smoke.)
Blame It on the Fairy Dust by slyvir
Rating: Mature Summary: Pandemonium is Magnus's territory, the lack of Alec's presence by his side despite the latter's apparent open stance on downworlders is slowly brewing into political issues. That clubs are not Alec's scene it is not a surprise, the reasons why he tried to avoid nights at Pandemonium however blindside Magnus, especially when they came out in the open in a fashion that is uniquely normal for them.
Both Alec and Magnus are ready to give away a piece of themselves for the other. Suffering in silence, with the intent to protect their partner from pain or guilt. But the way to Hell is paved with good intentions. And the more one let someone else in, the more one can get hurt. Rating: Mature Summary: Magnus Bane meets Alec Lightwood by pure coincidence on two occasions: one morning in a quaint coffee shop, and again during a mission briefing for The Clave. It’s only supposed to be one mission, but leaked information and the kidnapping of his friend and mentor Ragnor Fell lead to undesirable predicaments, and hard as he tries to keep it professional, Magnus can’t help his growing affection for the spy he’s hired to watch and navigate through the murky treachery of espionage.

A Wonderful Institution by @rhosyn-du
Rating: Teen Summary: Magnus doesn’t have time for this bullshit. Warlocks are disappearing in New York City—five people in less than three months—and Magnus is determined to find them and protect the rest of his people from whatever took them. He doesn’t have time for politics, and he certainly doesn’t have time for whatever nonsense the Clave is proposing about marrying a Shadowhunter to a Downworlder as part of the new Accords. He doesn’t really have time for a pretty Shadowhunter who’s surprisingly kind to warlock children, either, but, well, he’s always been good at multitasking.
Alec always knew he couldn’t have what he wanted, but he’s spent the nearly four years since the newly-appointed Consul recalled his parents to Idris without explanation making the best of what he can have. When life suddenly offers up almost everything Alec actually wants on a silver platter, he can’t quite bring himself to trust it, especially when it comes with a million caveats and a side of impending disaster. But he knows how to handle disasters, even if the return of the Circle on top of Clave secrets that could destroy the Accords is way beyond the disasters he’s used to fielding. Hope, on the other hand? He doesn’t know what to do with that. Link to completed fic

Not wasting any time he starts looking for love, with little success. Until he encounters the most handsome, intelligent and charming man he has ever seen! First Lines Of Your Last 20 Fics!
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag 10 of your favorite authors!
Tagged by the witty and wonderful @lorenzobane ❤️ TY, sweetheart! All of the humble offerings below are about Malec (of course), and I make no apology for wanting to write endlessly about them! I’M IN LOVE WITH THEIR LOVE, OK?
1) Protect You Above All Else - (T, Supportive Husbands, 3 Times Plus 1)
Alec is just making sure he’s mixed Magnus’ martini to his very stringent specifications when the man himself, looking entirely too put together to be feeling the supposed exhaustion Izzy’s text just warned him about, makes an entrance that has Alec eye-rolling in the fondest of ways.
2) There’s Something Magical About Christmas! - (T, Family/HP Theme)
Surely it couldn’t be time to rise and face the day already, Magnus thinks, burrowing deeper into the furry warmth of his husband’s comfy chest, stubbornly refusing to let the light stealing through the curtains rob him of his contented bliss.
3) Service With A Sunshine Smile - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Grocery Store AU)
“Alec, are you even listening?” Izzy whines, spoiling the intense eye-fucking that’s simmering between him and the sharply-dressed employee on checkout one every time they pass.
4) A Lesson In Love - (G, Prompt Ficlet, University Lecturers AU)
The customary curses that seem to follow every one of Magnus’ futile trips to the dean’s office filter through the open door connecting their offices, and Alec buries an affectionate smile as he walks through it.
5) Hidden Truths - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Mystery AU)
With the evening fire crackling in the grate and the gramaphone playing jazz 45s, Alec feels transported to another time altogether as he mirrors the relaxed and recumbent form of his live-in landlord across the hearth in his armchair’s twin.
6) Fighting The Good Fight - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Angel/Demon AU)
Satisfaction warms the heart of the angel, Integrity, as he surveys the crowded youth club he runs in Brooklyn.
7) Whiskey Rocks And A Little White Lie - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Exes AU)
It had taken three of his closest friends’ stimulating company and six whiskey doubles to reach this fragile state of near-acceptance over his break-up with Alec, but no distraction amongst the bar’s lively clientele made his pulse so much as flutter, let alone thump with the force of a thousand drums the way Alec’s smile could.
8) Wake Up Call - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Roomates AU) *My Fave Intro*
Surfacing from a sleep that should’ve lasted at least another week, Magnus’ mouth feels like a tide of alcohol has left only sand in its wake and his head’s still swimming with regret over the senseless fight with his best friend that triggered his headlong dash into anything offering oblivion from Alexander Gideon Lightwood.
9) A Love That Knows No Bounds - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Malec As Dads AU)
Arriving late at the gallery hosting Clary and Maia’s joint exhibition of art and marine photography, Alec weaves his way through the crowd to make his apologies to the forgiving duo, congratulating them both on the evident success of the ‘Nature’s Canvas’ collection before locating the expected family and friends, three of which are nowhere to be seen.
10) Interest Detected - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Film Noir/Detective AU)
“So you’ll take the case?” said the snake in the suit, aka the torment of Alec’s otherwise perfect life.
11) All Hail, Alexander The Grrreat! - (M, Prompt Ficlet, Role-Play Sex AU)
His husband’s formidable powers of application when learning a new skill had always been a source of pride for Magnus, but when paired with Alec’s insatiable, hitherto untapped predilection for role-play sex, he bore witness to more showstopping performances than Menzel could ever give on Broadway!
12) Impossible Just Means Try Again - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Neighbours AU)
They have no right, Magnus thinks as bodies and boxes make their way into his late friend’s beloved home, every clumsy accident and cheery apology grating on his fractured nerves.
13) To Us, You’re Still Here - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Widower Alec AU)
“You hate it,” Magnus states with amused certainty.
14) A Worthy Prize - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Game Show AU)
Acute nerves at standing in the line-up for the nation’s most popular game show, The Inquizitor, has left Alec’s skin glazed with sweat and triggered a plethora of childhood tics that serve to make him look even more anxious than he feels.
15) Unbridled Panic - (G, Prompt Ficlet, Film Set AU)
“OK, I might have forgotten to tell you I’m very afraid of horses.”
16) For One Day Every Year - (M, Canon Verse/Christmas Two-Parter)
Their first Christmas together fast approaching, Magnus was indulging in all things yule-related with a level of excited enthusiasm that he couldn’t recall ever having experienced before.
17) Consumed With Love At Christmas - (E, Family Christmas Party)
Alec Lightwood loved his family and friends with his whole heart, he really did, and inviting all of them over for a Christmas edition of their usual games night had even been his idea, but watching the way his hot tease of a boyfriend was making virtual love to that tangerine from all the way over here at the other end of the couch made him wish they were trapped at the North Pole with no means of return for years to come because all Alec wanted, for Christmas and the next few hours at least, was Magnus’ hungry mouth on him.
18) Lightwood Came To Win! - (M, Halloween Party At Pandemonium AU)
Although blissfully unaware of how the revolving multi-coloured lights of the packed out venue rendered his silky white outfit virtually transparent (except for a few face-saving ruffles and the odd gigantic bobble), Alec Lightwood still felt like a giant fool.
19) Musical Monday - (M, Sharing New Experiences/Competitive Shits AU)
There’s very little that Alec won’t do to put a smile on his boyfriend’s beautiful face, but donning a loincloth the size of a handkerchief while playing a harp, is not one of them, no matter what is dangled in front of him as a reward.
20) Made All The Difference - (G, Introspective Alec/Idiots In Love)
In the short time that Alec had known Magnus, his whole life had changed in ways he could never have thought possible.
Patterns: I think the very obvious answer here is ‘my intros are lengthy’ - but in my defence, at least with the ficlets and their word limit, I was trying to set as much of the scene as possible! 😂
