6) Pretty Woman, 1990

« Pretty Woman » est indéniablement la comédie emblématique des années 90 et est devenue l'une des comédies romantiques les plus cultes du cinéma. Garry Marshall réalise un film à la fois simple, intelligent et intemporel, mettant en lumière un choc des mondes évident entre un homme d'affaires influent et une prostituée qu'il croise par hasard. Rapidement séduit par cette femme fascinante, il prend la décision de l'engager comme escorte. Richard Gere interprète le rôle du businessman, renforçant ainsi son image de séducteur, tandis que la rayonnante Julia Roberts accède à la postérité grâce à sa fraîcheur et son sourire éclatant. Mentionnons également l'excellent Hector Elizondo, qui incarne un directeur d'hôtel des plus sympathiques. Des scènes emblématiques, telles que celles du shopping ou du dîner d'affaires, font de 'Pretty Woman' un film marquant dans le genre, qui continue d'inspirer des imitations aujourd'hui et sans aucun doute pour longtemps, sans jamais être égalé.

Wow, so I was a little dramatic when I wrote this review originally, but I still stand by my opinion. I very much enjoy this movie.

📽 Pretty Woman (1990)

Ok, so I really liked this movie. I watched it while I was babysitting, and I kept hoping the kid wouldn’t get out of bed so that I could finish it in one sitting. (Shocker, he actually didn’t get up!) I thought it was very enjoyable. Not everyone can relate to being a hooker, but pretty much everyone can relate to not feeling good enough sometimes. That’s why I think this movie is totally relatable. It may have been made before I was born, but it deserves to be watched long after I die.

Sex/nudity: 5/10 (the main character is a prostitute so there’s a lot of talk about that and clothing that reflects that, an attempted rape, some nudity but nothing graphic)

Language: 7/10 (about 4 f-words, other words scattered throughout)

Violence: 3/10 (punching, hitting, some blood, an attempted rape)

Overall rating: 9/10
