Never once did this series let go of the absurd. In fact, it dug itself deeper into it. Yet somehow it never stopped being a horror series and it never felt too much. Bravo, Alex, bravo.

Alex had been gone from Seattle for a while now, a month at least, longer. It wasn't that he had meant to disappear out of the people who counted on him. It was just, when he was trying to find people to stand up for Mer, for this stupid trial, he had found himself calling Izzie. He had done it for a few reasons. He'd always wondered about her, and he knew that she cared about Mer. One conversation turned into two, turned into her telling him the truth. Once she did, he hadn't been able to stop himself from taken a plane out of Seattle pretty quick, with some excuse about his mom. He waited until the end of the trial, but that was it.

Once he got there, it was more than he imagined. He had two kids. He had two kids that were theirs. Conversation had been light at first. He'd yelled at her a few times, but he was still staying with her, had even spent the day alone with the kids for the first time, while she worked.

When she got back, it was late. He'd cooked but he'd put them to bed. He was working on letters. "We need to talk. I'm writing letters. I need to know if this is real to you, if you want me here, want me, or if you're going to change your mind if I miss city life sometimes or if you start thinking you're having sex with dead guys again. I need to know that it's safe to believe in you, us and our family, Stevens, before I tell Bailey, the Chief, Mer...and Jo, that I found my happiness and that I don't want to leave it. Mer will understand. She'd give anything for more time with Derek." He vaguely remembered a patient they once had, who spoke about grand gestures.

Any tennis fans out there? A Music and Tennis Festival is an interesting concept.

This was a charity event in California in September 1990. It featured members of Rush, Survivor, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, America, E Street Band, Lou Gramm, and others.

If you're a tennis fan, the music is just a bonus. I don't know about you, but I would be there for the music. Never been much into tennis.
