Alevtina -

Being nervous, particularly on competition days was almost routine for Alevtina. However feeling sickly nervous days before said competition was abnormal. Maybe it was because she was about to board a plane, without her brother, to complete in the pinnacle of tournaments against the best in the world.

Dimitri had promised her that he would be at all of her competitions, he just hadn’t gotten a ticket till a few days later than her. It was a foreign concept, both literally and metaphorically being a whole continent away from her brother on top of then not getting to stay with him in a hotel room.

The olympic athletes didn't have to go through the main, bustling airport so at least that was a well appreciated bonus. It was an extreme oxymoron, Alevtina couldn't stand crowds and yet she had spent her entire life performing in front of one and in most cases, performing for one.

Alevtina felt weird, but in someway exhilarated by standing there, in her team Russia coloured sportswear, waiting to board the plane that would take her to the event she had been dreaming about for as long as she could remember. Growing up it had always been the final goal, the one relatively good thing that Alevtina's mother had said to her was to set it in jelly, but set it you must. Having a plan so she knew where she was going helped to relive stress and focus her mind on one competition at a time.

Alevtina picked up her phone, opening the camera and checking her hair, smoothing down the flyaways and making sure she still resembled somewhat presentable in her nervous, mind induced haze. A banner flicked down across the top of her screen, a circle withholding one of her favourite moments with Dimitri accompanied by his name that said, 'Я тебя люблю'.

Alevtina smiled fondly down at her phone, shaking her head before typing back, 'English Dimitri.'

The three dots, rolling up and down anticipated Dimitri's normally quick and witty, more often than not sarcastic. 'Fuck english.'

Continuing their banter, she wrote back. 'Did you ask english if she'd like that?'

The bubbles again appeared before the little swooping sound accompanied the message, 'Hush. Love you. Fly good.'

'Love you too, see you there.'

Alevtina flicked out of the app and placed her phone down on her legs, tapping them as she continued to wait. It wasn't long before a monotone voice reverberated over the speakers, "Team Russia Figure Skating, your plane is now boarding at gate three. Figure Skating, your plane is boarding at gate three."

Alevtina thought later in life, she and Sid are currently watching this game so she is holding his hand and letting him yell and scream and hiss about things they should be doing while she strokes his hair.

MEET ALEVTINA ~

Alevtina Volkova was born on the 30th of September 1988 in Novosibrisk, Siberia four years after her brother Dimitri was. There was never a time in her life where she didn't remember figure skating, the feeling of being on the ice so closely matched by walking. Her closest friend has, and always will be her brother. Reason being that her parents were almost never around, always going from one place to another leaving her brother and her alone with no notice and a hefty stack of money on the kitchen counter. Having this happen in her life left her with a deep-rooted resentment for her parents which made her vow to never to that to her own child. Having her parents drift in and out of her life has led her to believe that everyone will eventully, the only exception being her brother.

Personality Traits ~

Alevtina is known on the ice and in the public's view of her as cool-headed and calm, not showing heaps of emotion when speaking to media. However when she is alone with her brother and eventually Sidney she is lively, chaotic and always smiling or giggling.

While she tries to be happy and uplift everyone around her she also has her own moments like everyone does, but when she has these breaks she only wants to be alone with no one to see her, even her brother still struggles to breaks through her stubborn and adamant side.
