RUMOR HAS IT… Alecto Carrow is the apple of her father’s eye. But she’s got secrets that she’ll take to her grave. What’s that little bulge in her pocket? And why is she meeting people in dark alley’s with things hidden up her sleeves? We may never know what kind of business she runs, but we know it keeps her personal vault golden and shimmering.

Alecto Joselyn Carrow was born exactly seven minutes after her twin brother, Amycus on a brisk autumn day. Alecto had been unexpected; the healers had mistakenly believed that Alexandra Carrow was pregnant with just one baby. Despite the surprise entrance Alexandra and Adonis were both thrilled with the realization that they had not just one child, but two. After many years of struggling to conceive, it seemed like a miracle that they were able to have not just one but two babies. And as such, the twins, Alecto especially, were denied nothing and were spoiled by their parents, particularly their mother. Adonis was always a detached father, as most pureblood fathers were, and despite the spoiling of the twins, they had heavy expectations on their heads.

It was always assumed that Amycus would take on the family business, which was always a tad unclear about what exactly Adonis Carrow spent his days doing, while Alecto would follow in her mother’s footsteps and be a wife and mother. However, Alecto always had different ideas. She lived to challenge the status quo, the tutors and nannies that her parents hired to take care of the twins, and the idea that the only thing that she would be good at was being a mother. Alecto watched the way that her father trained Amycus, and she wanted to be treated the same way. It was on a chilly winter night that she finally proved to her father that she was more than a little girl. She had been seven, and she was in a rage about the dress that her mother was insisting that she wore to tea the following day. For one, it enraged her that Amycus wasn’t going to the tea, that he was going with the other pureblood boys on some sort of boys trip and that she couldn’t go. In her rage, her accidental magic caused the chandelier to shatter into a million pieces, and the dress to rip to shreds. Her mother was distressed, but her father finally saw that Alecto was going to have power, just as much as her brother.

It was no surprise to anyone that Alecto was sorted into Slytherin, although the hat had briefly considered Ravenclaw as a good fit. But Alecto’s cunning outweighed her knowledge and the hat ultimately went with Slytherin. Her years at Hogwarts were marked by high marks, the Slug Club, and a reputation as a heartbreaker. The coursework came easy for Alecto, which gave her plenty of time to toy with the other students’ emotions. When she wasn’t with Amycus, she was finding a new student to toy with. Nobody was safe from Alecto’s mind games. Alecto loved the thrill of the chase and the rush of adrenaline she got from playing with her toys. When she graduated from Hogwarts, she left a string of broken hearts behind.

Joining the Death Eaters was the natural conclusion to her years at Hogwarts. Amycus was following in their father’s footsteps, and Alecto was determined to follow as well. Whatever Amycus did, Alecto always wanted to do as well. The two were inseparable, had been since birth, and they took their dark marks at the same time. Alecto felt a surge of pride to join the Death Eaters, to rid the world of the muggles and the filth of the world. And the fact that she was a young woman, meant that other people overlooked her and didn’t take her seriously as a threat. It was always one of her favorite moments, when one of their victims realized that they didn’t just have to fear Amycus, but Alecto as well. She rose in the ranks of the Death Eaters, while balancing her other life, the life that protected her from suspicion in the early days.

She got a job as a Welcome Witch at St. Mungo’s, which was a very…unexpected choice. However, Alecto had ulterior motives when she accepted the job. It was after her graduation that she realized that she needed a job that she could balance with her Death Eater life, but also make money to fund her extravagant lifestyle. With Amycus as the technical heir to the Carrow heir, Alecto knew that he would gladly share the contents of the family vault with her, but she didn’t want to rely on him for money. Nor did she want to rely on a husband, which was where St. Mungo’s came in. As a Welcome Witch, she had plenty of access to the pharmaceuticals of St. Mungo’s, and she started a rather prolific second career as a drug dealer. It was only natural, Alecto loved to blackmail others and as a dealer, she could learn other people’s darkest secrets. And with a beautiful face like hers, most people don’t see what goes on under the surface, and she is mostly free of suspicion.

Believing that you are untouchable means that the fall back to reality always hurts that much more. Halloween Night was a surprise. Being left under the rubble for dead, was a bigger surprise. Amycus had been elsewhere, and the other Death Eaters had abandoned her. She had been sure that she would die, she had been sure that she would never see her brother again. Alecto had been in and out of consciousness and when she opened her eyes to see striking blue eyes looking at her, she had been sure that she was dead. But she hadn’t been. Frank Longbottom had pulled her from the rubble, and while she was grateful to still be alive, she hates being indebted to someone; especially someone like Frank Longbottom. He is everything that she isn’t, and she fears the day that he comes to collect.  

AMYCUS CARROW – The only person in the world who understands why she lives her life the way that she does. Alecto does her best not to keep secrets from her brother but sometimes it’s inevitable, especially in the case of how she wishes she could live her life. Who she wishes she could love.

MARY MACDONALD – Mary MacDonald was a force to be reckoned with even if she didn’t see it herself. Alecto took a liking to the girl despite all odds and in private they bonded. Bonding turned to friendship and friendship turned to something more. She wishes nothing more than for them to not be on opposite sides of this war but they are, Alecto has a job to do and that means following the Dark Lord’s orders.

FRANK LONGBOTTOM – Alecto owes Frank Longbottom her life, quite literally, as in without him she wouldn’t be here today. During the taking of the Ministry, she was captured under rubble, unable to move, while most fleed knowing full well that she was under the stones it was Frank who stayed moving rubble and eventually helped her out. She hasn’t a clue how to repay him but she knows one day she’s going to have to do just that.

The Carrow Family was built for wars, each generation more violent and twisted the one before them. Their fortune was built on stealing from those that didn’t deserve and anyone that tried to fight was often buried on the land that the Carrow family sought to take. From birth she’d followed Amycus in a literal and figurative sense, everything he’s done she was right behind him. Anything that he asked of her she’d do with no hesitation. Alecto proved from a young age to be the soldier that her parents needed to provide the Dark Lord with, meeting each thing her brother did with as much drive as she could. Her parents didn’t have one tribute–they had two.

Hogwarts was the first mission that she was granted and once she was sorted into Slytherin she began her work. Anyone with a worthy bloodline and a prominent last name was befriended including those that made her skin crawl. Their personalities and the fact that their voices sounded of nails on a chalkboard didn’t matter. She needed the allies if she wanted to succeed and she would. She immersed herself in studies and trained in the dueling club, wanting to make herself better for the chapter that was coming next.

Upon Graduating she took the Dark Mark and followed her brother into a career as an Unspeakable. The Department of Mysteries held much knowledge that she was well aware that she wasn’t supposed to share with anyone. The Unbreakable curse was taken but that was okay, she’d have the knowledge at her fingertips and between she and Amycus they’d find a way around so that they could share their knowledge with the Dark Lord soon enough.

Joining the ranks of the Death Eaters was what she was born and bred for, there was nowhere else that she would dream of serving. Her drive to be the best was stopped by nothing let alone no one. Godspeed to whoever got in her way for they’d be mowed down and left for dead without hesitation. The knowledge that she has from the Department of Mysteries and the things she’s seen over her twenty-two years has left a black mark on her soul that nothing could erase. The twisted roots of Carrow family tree had nothing on the monster that Alecto is.

AMYCUS CARROW – There is only one person that knows her inside and out, only one person that she trusts with her life. Alecto respects her brother without question and will do whatever necessary to make sure they both succeed.

EMMA VANITY – Her friendship with Emma was unlikely and snuck up on her. She can appreciate the amount of joy that Vanity gets from wearing the mask and causing damage to the lives of those around her.

SEVERUS SNAPE – Severus Snape is weak and nothing could ever convince Alecto otherwise. She makes it her mission in life to tournament him as she sees fit, keeping him in his place in the ranks.

what we all know: Twins are supposed to be irrespirable. Always right next to each other, but that wasn’t the truth for Alecto. In all honesty, she hated being around Amycus. In her eyes, his over confidence was going to be his weakness. One day he was going to get himself into trouble and would be too proud to successfully get himself out. She wasn’t going to be there to help him. If he was stupid enough to get himself into trouble, then he would have to get himself out. For now she continues to work up the ranks of the Death Eaters on her own, waiting for the day Voldemort realizes how important she is to his reign.

AMYCUS CARROW - Alecto can’t stand her twin. He’s a hot head that’s going to get himself into trouble one day, and she doesn’t want to be stuck with him when he does. She has far bigger plans than that.

FRANK LONGBOTTOM - Frank has saved her one day, and she’s never forgotten it. She doesn’t like owing someone, which is probably why she’s always so rude when she’s around him. Why give him the satisfaction of actually thinking he did something good?

ANDROMEDA BLACK - Andromeda is holding one of the spots Alecto wants. Because she’s one of the Black daughters, she’s holding this high spot in the Death Eaters and one day she plans to knock her down, but it might take some time and planning.

Alecto Carrow was the second born to the Carrows, only minutes after her older brother Amycus, and starting from that moment and forever after that was how it went. Where Aymcus went, Alecto was sure to follow close behind. Her brother was her best friend from birth and the one person that Alecto refused to let go of easily. The children had been dotted on before they were even born, there was nothing that they would have to ask for, it would already be there before they could. They were to live a privileged with the best that money could buy them. The only thing that her parents asked of her was that she remained loyal to the cause. Alecot was raised for the battle of pureblood supremacy, believing that everyone who possessed magic was only worthy if the blood in their veins were pure.

Hogwarts was a mere joke to Alecto, her parents had strongly believed that their children needed the best education and they wouldn’t get that from a crock-pot like Dumbledore. Alecto learned things at home from her parents, things that Hogwarts only touched on. The real reason she was to attend school was to make friends who would benefit her in the long run. She was to make sure that the people she had on her side were people that she could trust to live to the same principles that she did. Alecto was only allowed to associate with people that her parents would approve of and she didn’t think of doing anything other than that. She was never one to break trust or disobey, life was easier when you were following the rules that were laid out for you. They were there for her own protection.

After her graduation she didn’t fancy going off and doing anything normal, she didn’t want to follow the crowd in her career path. Originally she had wanted to be a professor but she couldn’t imagine returning to Hogwarts and dealing with the eyes on her there. Instead, she became a private tutor and helped the pureblood parents that wanted their children to learn better than what Hogwarts was teaching. Alecto doesn’t bother advertising her services the word of mouth along the pureblood community does that for her.

Like her brother she took the Dark Mark and sided with her brother, she would go anywhere that he asked of her. It came as a surprise to her when he introduced the idea of joining Rodolphus’ revolt. Alecto was hesitant, after all, this hadn’t been apart of their parents plans for them but if Amycus thought it was the best for them then it came as no shock to her that she agreed. Alecto tends to keep her nose down in both the Death Eater ranks and the Revolt ranks. She is quiet, constantly observing and obedient to all orders that she receives.

AMYCUS CARROW: Brother - Alecto considers her brother the one person that she can trust above all. The two are inseparable and she would do anything for him without question.

NARCISSA BLACK: Best Friend - The two have been friends from the time that they were young, she considers Narcissa her best friend. Aside from the fact that the Blacks’ are a worthy family it helps that Alecto knows that she can trust Narcissa.

DOLORES UMBRIDGE: Friend - What started off as an uneasy friendship due to the rumors that circulate about Dolores, quickly moved into actual friends once Alecto began to get to know her. She also keeps her around because of everything that Dolores knows and her position around the ministry.

Alecto Carrow, born the youngest of two, did not have the perfect life. Her life, as well as her olde brother’s life, was nothing but a hardship. Born to wealthy pureblooded parents, it was expected that she be the perfect child. However, as she grew older it would seem that their ideal of perfection was not something she would ever be able to reach. By the time she was three their disappointment manifested into harsh slaps and beatings, most of which her older brother, Amycus, tried to take for her. Not believing that he was deserving of the pain meant for her but not wanting to cause anything to be any worse for either of them, she spent her time mending to his various wounds as soon as their parents were out of ear shot. She always was the one to comfort him and thank him for keeping her as safe as possible from their parents.

Safety, in her eyes, came the day she turned eleven. Although it was a big to do, Alecto was not concerned much with the hullabaloo, her attention was focused on the fact that shortly after the festivities she would be on the way to her safe haven.

Hogwarts was everything Alecto had ever dreamed of. She was sorted into Slytherin, just as her brother was, and she made friends easily. There were far more people who were simliar to her in her classes and especially in her house and she found that she loved every minute of it. She became something of a social butterfly, though she still spent a vast majority of her time with her brother. After all, it was because of him that she had even made it as far as she did. In a way she felt she owed him everything. Not to mention he understood her better than anyone else she knew and it was just the same when it came to her understanding him.

Just as Amycus did, Alecto thrived. She came into her own person, realizing that being the pristine girl their parents wanted wasn’t what she wanted for herself at all. With research and a little help from some of her less than savory friends, Alecto found that her true desire dwelled deep within darker magics. There was a knack for them that she found and developed, enjoying the way she could get people to bend to her will with just a few muttered incantations. Far easier than trying to flirt her way out of situations, though it didn’t stop her from being openly friendly and candid when it came to getting what she wanted with simpler things. Still, she found herself cultivating her talents, waiting for when she would truly need them outside of the castle.

The day Alecto graduated from Hogwarts was the same day she moved into Amycus’ flat. It was the beginning of a new life for her and her brother and she couldn’t have been more excited or eager to begin. It didn’t take long for either Carrow to find a group to settle in with, though the two merged once they found that both of their groups of friends rallied around the same cause. Eager to be a part of something that they believed would better themselves and the world, it didn’t take long for Alecto to take the Dark Mark. 

Her life has been given some sort of purpose as the Dark Lord uses her and her brother to dole out his darker dealings. Alecto takes a sick pride in it, always ready and eager to jump at whatever he says because she knows it will give her the chance to use and learn darker magic. Together her and Amycus have formed a dangerous duo, one that has been known to strike fear into the hearts of the Dark Lord’s enemies despite their young age.

AMYCUS CARROW: Older brother- Not only is Amycus Alecto’s older brother, he’s also her best friend. The two have been inseparable from a young age and have a camaraderie that is often seen as borderline inappropriate.

EMMA VANITY: Former Friend - It was no secret that a war was on the rise and that Alecto was planted firmly on the right side but what shocked her was when someone so smart and someone she had thought she knew well didn’t choose right. In Alecto’s mind if you weren’t with the Dark Lord then you were the enemy and she would either help Emma choose right or keeping her from getting in the way

LUCINDA TALKALOT:  Friend - She had known Lucinda well enough in Hogwarts but it wasn’t until they got out into the real world that she learned that Lucinda was someone that she could get along with.

•  Alecto was always the brighter of the two Carrows. She excelled in school and is very good at spells that require high skill. She loves the Dark Arts and finds them incredibly fascinating. Alecto is also an incredible dueler.  •  Alecto constantly saw her parents fighting as a child which led her to never understand love. Her parents never wanted a daughter, only a son. Therefore, she was ignored even more than her brother was. This caused her to develop a thick skin and have a lack of emotion. 

AMYCUS CARROW: Alecto has been close with her brother for as long as she can remember. Though they often fight, the pair remains close. They are emotionally dependent on each other since their parents were absent.  BELLATRIX LESTRANGE:  Alecto looks up to Bellatrix, she thinks she is incredibly powerful and strong. She wishes to be exactly like her. Alecto asked Bellatrix to train her in the Dark Arts so she can become even more skilled.  DAISY HOOKUM: Alecto and Daisy have always been at odds. Alecto thinks that Daisy is weak and ignorant. In school, she would always seek her out in an attempt to mess with her.

→ About Alecto

Alecto was destined for greatness the moment xi and Amycus entered the world. They were meant to be great - powerful, and that's what they are. Being raised by Death Eaters was one thing, being non-binary was another. Alecto was abused as a child due to it.

Hogwarts was Alecto's escape. Xi has always leaned on Amycus for support, and going to Hogwarts was no different. Xi thought the children at Hogwarts would be just as cruel as her parents - but, they weren't. It was different, and Alecto cherished it. That was until the students began to change - they knew a war was coming and separated from people. Alecto was left in the dust, and xi couldn't handle it. Alecto became ruthless, not caring about others. You're on your own in the real world after all.

Being a child of Death Eaters meant you were bound to learn a few things. Alecto was placed in Ravenclaw for xer intelligence, and it wasn't until their sixth year that Alecto learned of how powerful xi could be. Being a Death Eater will come naturally.
