Sleepless nights - Shadowhunters.

Summary: You always have sleepless nights, when you go to train like usual you find someone else there already.

Warning: training/Sparring, mentions of injury/blood, mentions of nightmares.

Pairing: Alec Lightwood x GN!reader (platonic).

Word count: 1,340.

I tossed and turned with a huff, my eyes fluttering restlessly, kicking the duvet off me. It was a running joke with me and the Lightwood that sleep was for the weak but in reality, it was because I could never sleep a whole night. The nightmares made it impossible and though on the outside it seemed funny, it was draining me rather quickly. Irritated, I swung my legs out of bed and groaned with my head in my hands. Even if I managed to doze off, it was already two-thirty and everyone would start waking up soon enough.

Staying shrouded in the darkness, I managed to drag on clothes. Opening the door which softly creaked in protest. The institute was deadly silent bar the occasional snore from behind doors.

Izzy was a deep sleeper and swore she didn't do anything as ghastly as snore but the obnoxiously loud sound creeping from her bedroom defied her protests. I grinned, shaking my head as I passed her room and padded down the corridor, becoming a little less cautious as screens and monitors came into view. I wandered towards the training suites, slowing once more when I noticed the lights were already on. The echoing of a punching bag made me consider perhaps Jace was already in there like he was when he couldn't sleep too.

I crept in the direction of the noise, peering around one of the pillars, surprised to find Alec rather than the suspected blond. I had never seen him training at this time before. It was no secret that he didn't sleep well either but he tended to stay in his room to occupy himself. His grunts of effort ricocheted through the room as he went to town on the bags. With the way his knuckles were wrapped, I could only imagine the bruising he would have later on.

"Knock Knock," I called softly, tapping the stone pillar with a tired smile. "Didn't think anyone would be in here."

"Y/N, what're you doing up?" His voice was gruff, a tired edge clinging to his words as he panted.

"I could ask you the same thing," I teased, noticing the humour flew over his head. He looked drained and worn down, almost grey under the training room lights. "I just couldn't sleep, I come here to work stuff off when it gets too much is all. What about you?"

"Couldn't sleep either." He landed a few more hits on the leather bag before stilling it with his hands. His hesitance was apparent as he stared at the scuffed floor. "Had a nightmare, needed to do something to work it out." I wandered farther into the room, crossing my arms as I did.

"Hmm, I get it, most nights I'm in here for that reason. By the Angel, our dreams like to keep us on our toes huh?" I smiled grimly, picking up a sparring pole, and holding out a second one for my fellow shadowhunter. "Wanna work off some steam? I could use a partner, the dummies don't tend to fight back. Makes it too easy." He considered for a moment before unwrapping his hands. He usually had a knack for wrapping them properly but I winced at the sight of his bruised and slightly bloody skin. It really was a bad one. I made a mental note to remind him to activate his Iratze later.

"Jace mentioned that you spend a lot of time in here when the institute sleeps." His statement seemed nonchalant like he understood why it wasn't a general topic of conversation. I threw the second pole towards him as he walked down the steps and into the sparring area, grinning as he caught it with an expert spin.

"Yeah, explaining it is a pain and I'm used to it by now, I'm lucky if I get a couple hours a night but my body doesn't complain anymore." I shrugged despite the concern on his face. I knew it wasn't healthy to barely sleep, especially using up energy on training. But, there was no chance my brain was getting with the program of producing enough melatonin and blocking out the nightmares so powering through was the best option. Moving into my beginning stance, I span my own staff in my hands. "Anyway, I still do my job just as well ao its not an issue."

"Have you tried any magic or potions to stop the dreams? I'm sure Magnus could rustle something up for you." I shook my head, blocking his first hit with ease as we started to warm up.

"I wouldn't want to be any trouble, besides, I've taken potions before and they just made me feel like crap. Honestly, I'm used to it." I threw myself towards him with a little more ferocity than he expected, causing him to stumble with widened eyes.

"Magnus is the high warlock of Brooklyn, his wouldn't make you feel awful," he pressed, recovering from his surprise. I nodded slightly but gave him a pointed look to drop it, the room falling into a rhythm of clashing metal, heavy breathing and the occasional grunt from the pair of us. My focus was solely on the fight, my emotions channelling into the fight.

"You should talk to someone about your dreams." I panted, "I know this isn't the first time you've been up." My breath caught in my throat at a particularly rough lunge. "I see your light under the door when I walk past, can hear you shuffling around." I slid to the ground as he got the upper hand on me. I took the opportunity and knocked him down with the pole, the sound echoing through the room.

"It doesn't matter, too much explaining like you said and I do my job too." He ground out, using my own words against me. He hauled himself to his feet, leaving his pole on the floor where it had rolled away. I continued to push against him with my own, swinging and spinning the pole, allowing him to counteract with his hands.

"Look, all I'm saying is it can help. Sometimes Izzy listens to mine but there's only so much she can listen to." I wiped the hair back from my face with a huff.

"I don't want to speak about it, I can handle it." I scoffed at his answer, yelping as he yanked the sparring pole from my hands, sending me flying. The pole twirled in his hand dangerously as he stalked over to my sprawled-out body. I gasped as the air was dragged from my lungs.

"Look," ignoring the way my voice cracked I squinted up at him, gathering myself. "I'm offering you an outlet. If you don't want to talk then you're more than welcome to come here when you have a bad night. I'm here every night anyway so train with me. I won't make you talk, won't pressure you, just fight unless you want to. Talk. You just have to say the words." He gazed down at me, looking confused before offering me a hand up.

"Only training, no questions unless I want to?" Alec's voice was unsure but I nodded in confirmation and encouragement.

"I'm a good listener, I don't mind you talking at me just as much as I don't mind a nighttime training partner." I smiled, placing the poles back on their stand, rolling my shoulders out as I did. "We should go get ready for the day. It's almost five and I need a good scrub before breakfast." I gestured towards his hands before I left. "Don't forget to activate your Iratze, those knuckles look sore."

"Hey Y/N," I paused, swinging back around. "Thank you, and I can listen too if you need it." I smiled widely, nodding in thanks before leaving. That was a huge step for Alec, but to hear him say that made happiness spread through my chest as I walked through the rousing institute.

Perhaps I'd take him up on the offer sometime.

Please Don't Leave - Jace x Reader

Jace messes up, big time. Will he manage to make amends in time or is it not meant to be? ( why the hell am i being so cryptic)

‘JONATHON CHRISTOPHER HERONDALE!’ the name echoed throughout the institute, making a shiver run down Jace’s back. Everyone knew this scream. It was Izzy, had to be. Jace desperately tried to think of how he could have possible upset his devil for a sister as Izzy’s boots clicked down the hall, as she walked up to him.

She pulled him down by his collar before flipping him, ‘You never learn, do you?’ she said. Jace wasn’t hurt, only his dignity. He got up with as much self-respect as he had left and asked her sassily, ‘ Mind telling me whats wrong though?’

‘Whats the date?’ she asked, her voice dangerously low. It was the 28th …. what was on the 28th of September? NO! how could he have ever forgotten! Realisation dawned on him as Izzy just shook her head, ‘ This isn’t the first time your forgetting Jace, she doesn’t even hope anymore.’

This was terrible… Jace remembered 28th of September, this very day, a few years ago, when he met her. She knocked the breathe out of him, literally. They first met in the training room, she had him pinned in under a minute. That was they day he met Y/N, Izzy’s parabatai. That was four years ago, and for the third time, Jace had forgotten their anniversary.

He loved her, they had been through hell and back, this year, of all the years, he shouldn’t have forgotten. The battle scars from the Dark War were hardly healed. He sat down on the closest chair, not knowing how he could have messed up to this extent. ‘Where is she?’ he asked Izzy. She sat down next to him, he was her brother after all, she knew the regret weighing on him. ‘She’s with Alec and Simon, practicing archery… She’s upset Jace, we’re parabatai, I can feel it.’ Izzy says.

Jace nodded at Izzy before walking to the training room. He found her there, just as Izzy said, working herself to the max. He tried lightening the mood, hugged her from behind. ‘Hello’ he whispered. She elbowed him hard in the ribs as she walked to the bench for some water.

He went behind her, ‘Y/N, hun, I’m sorry’ he said kneeling in front of her. She refused to look at him, scared that she won’t be able to hold up her stoic façade. It may not have been a big deal to others, but to her it meant a great deal and he knows it. Running into the fray anytime, anywhere, changes you. Little things matter.

‘Look at me..’ he said, turning her face with one finger, but trailed off as he saw hurt and betrayal in her eyes. He would kill anyone who hurt her, he’s never had to of course, cause she is more than capable of doing that herself. The only people who could actually hurt her, were the ones who she opened up so vulnerably to. ‘Forgive me Y/N, one last time… please…’ he whispered.

‘Do you care anymore Jace?’ she spoke to him for the first time that day. Jace was taken aback by that, he cared, he cared more than anyone could imagine. ‘Its been a few months since the Dark War Jace.. the war that made me lose everything, you are supposed to be my rock…I can’t love you if you don’t meet me halfway…’ She said stoically. A terrible fear grew in Jace, worse than the fear of death… the fear of losing her.

‘I love you, your are my sun and my moon. Do you think I could ever stop caring?’ Jace stood up determined. ‘Meet me in the Missions Hall in 5’ he said. ‘Jace-‘ Y/N began.

He cut her off though. ‘Please… come’ he said as her ran off. She did, of course she did. One last time before letting go. Alec, Simon , Izzy and Clary were there too, but they were… smiling?

Music played out of nowhere. Wait… she knew this song…A voice, beautiful in her memory as ever started singing to her. Jace.

When you feel your love's been taken When you know there's something missing In the dark, we're barely hanging on Then you rest your head upon my chest And you feel like there ain't nothing left I'm afraid that what we had is gone

Then I think of the start And it echoes a spark And I remember the magic electricity Then I look in my heart There's a light in the dark Still a flicker of hope that you first gave to me That I wanna keep Please don't leave Please don't leave

He stopped there, knelt down in front of her.

‘Never again should those eyes fill up because of me… Every time I wake up next to you, I feel stronger. Every time you smile, I feel alive. Every time you make me watch those Disney movies, my dignity dies, but to hear you laugh is worth it. The sun and all the stars in this universe will die before I give up on our love. Will you, Y/N Y/L/N, do me the honour- or royally break my heart – and marry me?’ He said, the great Jace Herondale was in tears, with a rose gold ring in his hand.

She hesitated, his heart shattered. Then she broke into the most beautiful smile ever, the warrior, the soldier, Y/N. ‘You and me Herondale, to the end of days. I will marry you Jonathan’ She says. That’s all she had to say, he jumped up and picked her up into a hug.

He kissed her, not with aggressive Herondale passion, but with all the joy of this second chance. That’s her Jace.

Too Close for Comfort, Fairchild

(A/N): Hey guys! I know it’s been a long time since I posted, and for that I am sorry. However, I have overcome my writer’s block and I hope to be posting a few more imagines and one-shots in the future. Please enjoy this new one-shot that is apart of my on going series, ATOFG.

Clary and Evie had always been remarkably close, starting within the early years of their lives, and they had always known they would become Parabatai one day. One way or another.

 Platonic Soulmates.

 That is the way Jocelyn had explained it to the two eager girls hungry for all the knowledge and traditions of their people. If they were forced to spend their lives in exile away from their home and people, as well as their shadow-mates, then they would settle for nothing less than learning every single aspect of their heritage. Their birth right.

 Parabatai were more than brothers and sisters, they were soulmates. In a nature, that is similar but entirely different, and platonic, compared to bonds between shadow mates.

 It was a bond and tradition that they wanted so badly to participate in that Jocelyn arranged for the Silent Brothers to officiate the ceremony in secret. If Jocelyn couldn’t let them grow and live in the shadow world that was their blood right, then she could at least give them this.

 For that, Clary and Evie had always been very affectionate towards one another. Since being completely introduced to shadow world they had noticed that plenty of other Parabatai were affectionate with each other. It was something they noticed among the female Parabatai-bonded Shadowhunters more than the male Parabatai, but it made them feel elated and gave them a sense of acceptance and belonging.

 When they were in the mundane world, they had to continuously tell people that they weren’t romantically together, but just very loving friends. They couldn’t tell them the truth. Not only was it against their peoples’ laws and customs, as well as very private sacred privilege, it was something the mundane world could never appreciate. Mundies would never understand, let alone respect, the depth of the bond between Parabatai.

 However, there was one man who was vexed by the touchy-feely relationship between Evie and Clary. Alexander Lightwood was possessive man, and who could blame him. He was the eldest Lightwood child, which means; heavy lies the crown. He has always put his family first, and thus has given everything that is his to the family. Evie is the first person he could call his own. The only thing or person in this world no one expected him to share or give away.

 She was his shadow mate and god if it didn’t irritate him more than anything to have to share her with anyone else. Especially Clarissa Fairchild. She had never intentionally done anything to him, but that didn’t change the fact that he felt threaten by the reality of having to share his Parabatai, and his mate, with the mouthy redhead.

 Alec and Jace had just finished training and were walking towards the library in hopes of catching glimpses of their respected mates. Having come up empty with the green house and the fact that they came from the training room, the only other places left to look was the library and their shared rooms.

 As they drew closer, they heard the shared musical laughter of the young women and shared a victorious smile with each other. They pushed the heavy doors open, entering the extravagant library, and stood at the top of the staircase to watch the girls, who were obvious to being watched.

 Clary threw her head back and let out a joyous cackle; “You’re making this up!”

 Evie gave a heartily chuckle and shook her head, “I’m so not making it up! While Simon was spray painting over that god-awful band name on his van, so you could repaint the van, Maya was standing behind him tagging his jacket with her own can of spray paint.”

 Clary looks at Evie in humored awe before the two best friends made eye contact. At which point they both began to howl in laughter.

 They calmed long enough for Evie to muse between heavy giggles, “I don’t know how in the hell Simon didn’t notice what Maya was doing. The back of his jacket had a remarkable amount of detail…”

 Clary started to heave she was laughing so hard and the two watching men had to agree Evie’s story was quite hilarious. All her stories are. If you want a good laugh, all you would have to do is ask Evie to tell you a funny story.

 Clary calmed down and gave a big sigh of content before she leaned forward from her reclining position on the couch, her and Evie had been laying on together. With her legs still laying across Evie’s lap, Clary moved her face towards Evie’s and rubbed her nose sweetly against Evie’s in an Eskimo kiss.

 Evie smiled endearingly at the small display and returned the gesture with an Eskimo kiss of her own to Clary, whilst tucking one of Clary’s unruly curl behind her left ear.

 Clary leans into the palm of Evie’s right hand, placing a chaste kiss on the inside of her hand, and shifts her legs from across Evie’s to curl underneath her so she can lean into her warm side and nuzzle her face into Evie’s neck and waves of hair that resembles spun gold.

 Evie moves her left arm that was resting on the back of the couch and wraps it around Clary, leaning her cheek on a head of thick red curls. Jace smiled at the heavenly sight of his cherished sister and his beloved mate spending much needed time together.

 Alec, however, couldn’t help the surge of immense jealously that rushed through his veins at the sight of someone other than him so close to his mate. He briefly feels guilty seeing as they are Parabatai and it was perfectly normal for female Parabatai to be so close, but that didn’t change the fact that he didn’t want to share his mate.

 All his life, Alec has shared everything that was his, and he would be damned if he shared his mate. He watches with guarded eyes as Clary lifts her lips to Evie’s jewelry clad ear and whispered with a small amused smirk. Evie’s eyebrows and lips quirk upwards with slightly surprised amusement before she opened her eyes and the golden orbs lock with his blue ones immediately.

 “It seems your right, Clary. I suppose this is all the affection we can have with one another for now.” She says, while they both rise from the Victorian sofa, “Lest my poor mate loses himself to the madness of his own irrational jealously.”

 Her playful teasing, and that loving smile she reserved just for him, helps to erase the jealously from his system. The men make their way down the stairs to meet the women who eagerly greet them with kisses.

 Evie and Alec’s lips crash together in raw intensity and one of his strong arms wraps around her while his free hand grips her jaw firmly, but lovingly, whilst her small hands grip his broad shoulders. He softly bites her lip, begging for access, and his tongue quickly tangles with hers once she surrenders to his lustful onslaught .

 They easily get lost in the others presence, and they would have continued to get lost in each other; if not for the forced cough from Jace and giggle from Clary.

 They reluctantly pulled away from the passionate embrace and look at the other couple.

 Jace appears to be thoroughly unimpressed but watching Alec “attack” his elder sister, but Clary merely slipped into the spot just behind Evie’s left shoulder and with a teasing smirk spoke; “Wow, Alec. I didn’t think I could get under your skin that easily, but yet again you surprise me.”

 Alec glowers at the redhead for her dauntless taunting and bites out in a growl; “Too close for comfort, Fairchild.”

 The brazen girl relents with a surrendering smile, after seeing the mindful look the taller blonde headed girl throws over her shoulder,

 “Sorry, Alec.” The girl halfheartedly offers; not looking one bit as apologetic as she appears to sound, “I was only teasing. I didn’t mean anything by it.”

 In one last ditch effort to amuse herself and irk Alec she says her goodbyes to Evie for the next few hours. She reaches around and places a small and sweet kiss to the graceful sloping of Evie’s angled jaw, and the painted nails of her fingers brush Evie’s shoulders lightly before her right hand continues on to trail down Evie’s spine. Said redhead then parts from the blonde; leaving with her highly entertained mate.

 Alec all but snarls and spits at the firecracker’s relentless audacity to annoy him. Evie grabs his shoulders once more and begins to massage the tension from them as she speaks,

 “The only reason she continues to taunt you is because you continue to give her exactly what she wants.” He turns to his beautiful mate and watches the small smile curl on her lips.

 “So, stop doing that. It’s no fun for her if you don’t look like you’re ready to spit nails.”

 He chuckles deeply at that last statement and wraps his arms around her waist, tugging her into his chest, “I know, but I can’t help but want you all to myself.”

 She makes a small noise, by sucking her teeth, with a pout whilst brushing his hair back from his eyes, “I am yours. All yours; for all eternity. We were made for each other.”

 Alec nuzzles his forehead to Evie’s with a content smile and speaks.

 “Destined, my true love. Therefore, where one shadow goes; then the other will surely follow…”

 She beams at him and they seal the shadow-mate motto with a deep kiss.

Putting on the Waterworks

Fandom: The Mortal Instruments (not the TV show, I can’t stand it)

Prompt: “Don’t worry, I’ve been arrested before. I’ll get us out of this.”

Character: Simon (Platonic friendship)

   It’s 1 in the morning when you enter the city limits. Simon never tells you what the hell has been going on with him, Clary, and their new group of friends, but you constantly find yourself being someone’s chauffeur while they’re at the weirdest places.

   On this particular night, you get a call from Simon saying he ‘got stranded’ in Jersey while taking a Greyhound bus... In the middle of the night. Luckily for him, you’re almost completely used to him and his group’s bull so you play along and drive out to get him.

   Once you finally pick him up and finally see that “Welcome to NYC” sign, it’s over 1 in the morning and you are exhausted.

   Simon can totally tell.

   “I’m sorry I dragged you out of bed.” He apologized for what seemed like the 50th time. That’s one of the things you admired about him. He’s always apologizing every time he calls asking for a free ride somewhere whereas the others that seem to also take advantage of your free time and car seem too much in a rush or too busy to even say hi.

   But you’re also grumpy as hell. “You say that one more time, I’m pushing you out of this car while it’s still in drive.”

   Now that the road looks completely desolate and it’s 1 AM, you take your chances at speeding up a bit and ignoring the limit for a few minutes. Except a few minutes becomes a bit longer and it’s not long until you hear sirens coming from behind you.

   Simon starts to tense up next to you. “Oh man, this can’t be happening...” He agonizes.

   You roll your eyes in boredom. “Don’t worry, I’ve been arrested before. I’ll get us out of this.” Then, looking at your rear view mirror and drying your eyes, you start to feel the pinpricks of tears coming from the corners of your eyes.

   “Oh my god, are you okay?” He asks.

   “Shut up, you just broke up with me and now I have to keep driving you home.” It’s at this point, you finally pull off to the side of the road with the police cruiser following you.

   “I just what? You literally have like the beefiest boyfriend since John Cena.”

   “Shut up and play along, asshole.”

   Now grabbing the packet of tissues in your purse, you start to rub the tears over your face, making your eyes more puffy and your little bit of makeup on at this hour to blot around your eyes.

   The officer approaches your car slowly and, as he does, Simon seems to tense up more and more like he’s scared of the officer.

   Light from the officer shines into the car and hits your face. You keep your head down low, feigning sadness.

   “Is... is there a problem officer?” You ask, looking up slowly, wiping some of the tears away.

   Immediately, he looks uncomfortable and sorry for you and you already know you’ve got him.

   “Well I noticed you speeding a bit back there. A 63 in a 50.” He pauses, shining his light to Simon and showing his face more clearly. He starts to look between the two of you. “Is this boy bothering you, miss?” He softens his voice.

   You shake your head fiercely. “No sir! He’s my boyfr--” You stop yourself again. “I mean... Ex-boyfriend... I’m just... driving him home.”

   He nods again. His face perfectly portrays his emotions. He does not want to be in this situation.

   “Well... I guess I could let you off with a little warning, miss. But you gotta remember to be careful with your driving, always check the speed limit...” He lowers his voice, coming closer to your ear so Simon shouldn’t be able to hear (he does anyway), “And you just remember to not let this guy get you down. You can do a million times better.”

   You begin to cry harder, but joyfully. “Oh thank you so much, Officer...” You look at his name tag in your peripheral vision, “Brock. Thank you so much Officer Brock, I won’t do it again. I’m gonna be very slow, sir.”

   He nods kindly to you, and also gives Simon the stink eye. “Goodnight.” Simon nods back, slinking as deep into his seat as he can, covering his eyes.

   Then he swaggers on back to his cruiser and, once he drives back onto the road and continues down, you resume driving and rubbing off the rest of the faux tears.

   “That was... so... humiliating.” Your friend utters out from next to you.

   “I assume you’ll be better about calling me in the middle of the night then, huh?” You retort back

   “Yeah... I owe you big time.”

   “Hell yeah you do. You and your friends probably owe me something like 100 in gas money and an extra 50 for my patience and silence. And maybe another 20 for the emotional trauma.”

   “Just please get me home without facing that guy again. Felt like he was going to hulk out on me any second.”

   “And I would watch in glee with popcorn.” You smile. “Let’s get you home and get me back into my hunky boyfriend’s arms, please.”

A/N: #2 of trying to reawaken the dying writer in me. This time, we had a platonic relationship between Simon Lewis and Y/N and tey almost get ticketed or arrested for speeding. Also, I just rewatched Mission Impossible: Fallout so I was sorta definitely imagining Henry Cavill as that super beefy boyfriend that reader has but you can imagine him as anyone you want.

A Little Portal Mishap

Pairing & Fandom: Platonic Alec Lightwood x AU Reader

Disclaimer: I own neither you nor any elements of Shadowhunters or the Shadowhunter Chronicles.

A/N: So this isn't a request, I know. But I'm trying to get into writing again and wanted to open up my available areas. I'll put up Pt. 2 of this then start on the mountain of requests I still have.

Summary/Request: When Dagon, Prince of Hell, attacks the Dimensional Portal, Shadowhunters and Downworlders alike assemble to defend other universes from the Prince’s attacks. However, if a fighter’s focus slips for even a second, all kinds of things can go wrong.

It took Alec a lot longer than he’d like to admit that he had been teleported. The last thing he remembered was going on one of the largest missions that weren't related to the Circle he had ever been on. Somehow, a large horde of demons had managed to force their way into the Seelie Court, lead by Dagon, Prince of Hell.

The Seelie Queen had sent one of her scouts to discover how and why they had entered their realm, and the faerie had barely managed to send the Queen an unfinished message detailing the demons’ motives before he had been caught and brutally murdered. According to the spy, Dagon wasn't after the faeries or the Court, but rather the portal to alternate universes that was located within the realm.  The Seelie Queen had for once managed to put aside her pride and called on not just the Clave, but also the New York vampire clan and werewolf pack along with any warlocks who would assist.

The mismatched army had waited at the portal for hours before the first wave of demons appeared through the trees. Alec along with a couple Seelie archers fired arrow after arrow into the horde, trying to thin the army and make it easier for their melee fighters. However the demons were on top of them in seconds. A ravener demon hissed and leaped at him just as Alec was preparing to nock an arrow. He spun the arrow in his fingers and stabbed it upward into the creatures gut, the arrow breaking in the process and showering him in ichor. He quickly switched his bow with a seraph blade and engaged another demon.

A flash of blue fire caught Alec’s eye and he immediately switched targets. He slowly made his way through the plenum of demons, Downworlders, and Nephilim, trying to make his way to Magnus. He was only a few feet away when he glanced to the side and saw Dagon standing at the far end of the clearing, grinning in a twisted way that made Alec’s nerves fire up. Even worse, he saw you break away from Isabelle and Clary, whom you had been fighting by, and launch yourself toward Dagon. He could barely hearing Izzy shouting your name and trying to reach you, but she couldn't seem to push through.

By now Alec was fighting back-to-back with Magnus, and that tiny bit of extra protection allowed him to keep an eye on you while he fought. You brought your seraph blade down in an arc toward Dagon but in a flash of red light there was suddenly a palchion blocking the path of your sword, the blade blacker than the midnight sky above. Dagon snarled, repulsed at being challenged by this Shadowhunter, and began to push back, his blade a blur even to Alec’s Nephilim eyes, cutting across the trees behind him like a shadow on a backdrop. The contrast to your glowing blue Seraph Blade was striking with each clash of the swords.

You were barely keeping up with Dagon’s flurry of blows, your teeth gritted against the strain it was almost definitely putting on your muscles. You could barely even counter, too busy trying not to get hit. There were a few minutes when Alec lost sight of you. He had his own demons to fight, and normally he would be glad to risk himself to ensure your safety, but Magnus was counting on him to watch his back.

Alec couldn’t help the low growl that escaped his throat when his gaze was torn from you. Why on Earth did you think it was a good idea to fight a Prince of Hell by yourself? Although knowing you, you didn't think it was a good idea but had just done it anyway, consequences be damned. Maybe you felt it was your responsibility to take on the biggest threat so someone else wouldn't have to, which was usually more of a Jace move. Or worse, you felt you were more expendable because you weren't, in the Clave’s words, a proper Shadowhunter. Your story was a long and complicated one littered with death, and with the Clave's reputation it wasn't surprising that they all but hated you.

A few years after you (the result of a one-night stand) were born, your mother, M/N Starhunter fell in love with a mundane.  Soon she could no longer hide from the Clave, as she had become pregnant. When the Clave discovered that the father was a mundane, M/N was immediately deruned and exiled, now a stain on her name and legacy. On you, as the Clave insisted you still be trained at the New York Institute. However now that she was no longer bound by the Accords she told her boyfriend what had happened he left her, not wanting to be roped into a life of demons of monsters. Heartbroken and still pregnant, she took you and started a life.

On her own as a new mundane and having to support both you and herself, plus her soon-to-be- born son was not easy but she refused to falter. Soon your little brother was born and you adored him with all your heart. But the only problem was, when a Shadowhunter had a child with a mundane, there was a 50-50 chance on whether or not the child would be mundane or Nephilim, and your new brother was a mundane. You couldn't find it in your precious little heart to care and loved him anyway, always telling him about what you had learned in your classes or complaining when you and Alec got yelled at Maryse. Being the only kids at the Institute at the time, you and Alec were already thick as thieves.

Two things happened a year later. Number one, Alec’s little sister Isabelle was born, and she might as well have been your little sister too for all the difference it made. Number two, a Shadowhunter came to your door to ask your mother for information regarding his mission. But he kept coming back. Eventually he was exiled by the Clave for marrying a deruned Shadowhunter which really did not help your reputation. But you didn't worry about it. If the Clave was going to punish people for love then you weren’t going to worry about their rules, even if Alec practically worshipped them.

Despite all this, you still managed to be happy, a skill Alec still envied you for. But happiness doesn't last long for the Nephilim, and Alec would never forget the day disaster struck. You and Alec had been training together harder than ever at Maryse’s request, when a Clave official stopped you. He took you outside into the hallway, and it wasn't until you told Alec later between ragged sobs that he found out what the officer had said.

A Warlock with a grudge against your father had sent a couple Shax demons to your house. He told you that both your parents and your little brother had been killed. You had burst into the room and flung yourself on Alec, not even trying to hold back your tears. He had carried you to his room and held you for hours as you sobbed into his chest. Later, Maryse had told you both, surprisingly gently for her, that rather than sending you to the Academy, the Clave had decided that you could remain at the Institute.

Not even a few months later a boy named Jace Wayland had arrived. Both of you grieving the loss of your families had ended up as silent support for the other. You may not have shared the banter and friendly conversations Alec and Jace did, but Alec could somehow tell you how close you two still managed to be. But as he grew closer and closer with Jace, Alec noticed you doing the same with a girl named Lucy Aveni. The Avenis, along with their daughter, had been reassigned to the New York Institute under Maryse and Robert, and so Lucy had begun training with you, Alec, Jace, and Izzy. Soon Max was born and the boy was lucky to have five older siblings to watch out for him. All of you took it upon yourselves to keep him safe.

It came as a surprise to no one when you announced that you and Lucy had decided to become parabatai. Your ceremony was scheduled to be a few days before Alec and Jace's. It also came as a surprise to no one when you couldn’t bring yourself to attend the boy’s parabatai ceremony. As if the universe was playing some cruel joke on you, Lucy was killed on a mission the day before your own parabatai ceremony. You hadn't actually said the vow or received the runes, but it still felt as if a piece of your soul had been ripped away, leaving a harsh and jagged hole in its place. Despite the fact that you had been restrained by demons when a demon had shoved it's claws into Lucy’s chest and there not being anything you could do, you still carried the guilt with you, to this day.

Around the time of Isabelle’s trial you and Inquisitor Herondale had gotten into one of the largest verbal fights the Institute had seen. In her rage, the Inquisitor had revealed to you that your little brother hadn't been killed all those years ago after all, and instead the Clave had integrated him into the mundane foster care system. Alec remembered the absolute terrifying rage In your eyes that even he had never seen before. He remembered the glass of computer screens cracking at what Alec had assumed at the time was your scream of rage, and how what he thought was the adrenaline in your veins caused one of the tables to fly across the room with just a slight push.

It wasn't until Valentine kidnapped you for his experiments that you learned the truth. Your real father, the man whom your mother had a one time stand with and everyone assumed to be just some random Shadowhunter was actually a demon in disguise. Your mother had asked a Warlock to put a block on your magic, suppressing it and even your Warlock mark. Even now no one knows why the demon blood coursing through you affected you differently than Tessa Gray or Jonathan Morgenstern. But the physical and mental stress Valentine had cause you some how broke through the block, allowing your cat eyes to shine through.

You had managed to use your glamour rune to hide them for a few days, but constantly using the rune wore you down until eventually you couldn't hide it anymore. You met with Alec and Magnus and finally let your glamour drop, shocking them both. Magnus then revealed that very rarely did two Warlocks share the exact same mark, as the two of you did, and that it only happened when two Warlocks have the same demon parent. Since then Magnus has taught you how to use your magic to put a glamour up that didn't burn up so much energy, and how to use your magic. However very rarely did you use it, as the Clave frowned upon it (even though it wasn't technically outlawed) and you preferred to fight the way you had been learning to since birth.

A little bit of digging with the help of Luke and you had found out that not only was your brother alive, but it was none other than Simon Lewis. When you had told him, he agreed to attempt to rebuild the connection you once had. Slowly but surely you two were almost as close as you were before the attack.

Your cry of pain yanked him back to the present as his gaze was pulled to you almost magnetically. He caught a glimpse of you sprawled on the ground with a large bloody cut across your sword arm. Your seraph blade was nowhere to be seen. Dagon was standing over you, palchion poised to stab you in the chest. Magnus must have seen you too, as he suddenly released a shockwave of magic the lit up the area a deep red instead of its usual bright blue, and vaporized every demon within a seven foot radius. Alec felt panic rise up in his throat to suffocate him. Surely you hadn't been through all that pain just to be killed here.

He sprinted towards you but he already knew he was too late. Dagon thrust the sword downward but just before it reached your skin you yelled in anger and frustration and threw up your uninjured arm. A flame of F/C magic fired from your hand. Dagon flew backwards into a tree. Seeing their leader overpowered even for brief moment caused the demons to falter, but the Shadowhunters, Warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and Seelies to fight with a new vigor, finally seeing hope for a possible end.

You grabbed Dagon’s palchion off the bloodstained grass while he was still dazed. Alec could only register a few things: your glamour-free cat eyes gleaming with a bloodlust, you throwing your stele aside after hastily activating your speed rune, Dagon’s shocked face. Before he could take in the whole scene you had dashed across the field and suddenly Dagon’s head was on the ground, his neck slice through by his own sword, and he was turning to ash.

You finally turned to see him and flashed him a grin before your eyes widened in horror. It took him too long to realize what they meant. While he had been focused on you he hadn’t noticed the demon creeping towards him before he even had time to raise his seraph blade the demon had jumped on him and he fell backwards. Apparently the portal had opened sometime during the portal. Alec saw fire and ice, clashing, blending, destroying each other, heard Magnus screaming his name in terror, before he saw nothing at all.

There are 71 M/M pairings on the list, 15 F/M, 3 F/F, 8 Gen and 3 Other. (Please note that on AO3, ‘Name & Name’ indicates platonic or familial ‘Gen’ relationships, while ‘Name/Name’ is used for romantic and sexual pairings.)

Of the 200 names on the list, 23 are women and 3 are characters of ambiguous gender, down from 28 and 3 in the 2019 list. 92 are POC, and 7 are racially ambiguous, compared with 64 and 11 two years ago.

AO3 stats project: tags

In this post, we'll discuss tags on the Archive of Our Own! Please note: because the works on the Archive include explicit material, some of the tags discussed in this post may not be appropriate for your workplace.

The Archive of Our Own has one of the best tagging systems around. You can read more about it here, here, here, or here. For our purposes, the important part is that users can tag their works however they want, and then a group of people called "tag wranglers" sort those tags, either adding them as synonyms of existing tags or creating new canonical versions for them. What I'll be showing here is the "canonical" version of the tags. For example, a work tagged "flufffffff" or "so fluffy!" would have those two tags assigned to the canonical tag "Fluff", so I will consider both of those tags as being "Fluff" to get the most accurate count.

The other important thing about AO3 tags is that they come in four flavors. The first one is "warnings", the content warnings required by the Archive (plus the default tag indicating you're abstaining from the warnings system). The second flavor is "Characters", tags describing the characters in the work. The third is "Relationships", tags describing the platonic or romantic relationships depicted in the work--typically, "X/Y" indicates a romantic and/or sexual relationship between characters X and Y, while "X&Y" means a platonic relationship, although this usage isn't universal and isn't enforced. The final category is "freeform", aka everything else.

Again, the tagging system is freeform and optional. In particular, I'll note that "character" tags and "relationship" tags don't necessarily imply each other: you can have a work tagged "Sherlock Holmes/John Watson" that only features Mycroft Holmes, or that features John and Sherlock but doesn't tag them as characters, only as the relationship. So remember that--while it's pretty good on average, because people tag their works so readers/viewers can find them--the number of uses of a character tag isn't the same as the number of works that feature that character, for example.

Okay! So what are the most popular freeform tags on the Archive? If you read a lot of fanfiction, I doubt you will be surprised by anything on this list. Left column is the top 15 tags by number of uses, while right column is the top 15 tags by the cumulative hit count on every work tagged with that tag.

Are these tags consistently popular over time? For reasons of space, I’ll just plot the top 10 by number of works:

If you look back at the works vs time plot in the second post, you'll see that yes, the shape of these trends is similar to the total number of works, so trends in fannish tastes haven’t changed much over the time the AO3 has been in existence. (These show a little more bumpiness because there are fewer works in each plot.) Some of these have gained a little more recent popularity vs earlier works--smut, fluff, and the two specific alternate universes are a little more weighted towards later times, while humor and general AUs are falling a little behind--but the differences aren’t as large as we saw for fandom trends in the previous post.

I'm sure you're curious about characters and relationships. Here are the top character tags, omitting the catchall character tags of “Original Character(s)”, “Original Male Character(s)”, “Original Female Character(s)”, and “Reader” (all of which would otherwise appear in the top 15). Supernatural is so big, and so focused on so few characters, that Dean Winchester is the sixth most popular tag on the entire AO3.

Clint Barton is way higher than I would have expected.

Sherlock Holmes is slightly less popular than anal sex.

Original female characters are more popular than anal sex.

Similarly, cuddling is more popular than A/B/O.

Harry Styles is less popular than 3/7ths of BTS (at least as of sometime in 2018); Louis Tomlinson barely tops Draco Malfoy.

Alcohol comes between Katsuki Yuuri and Viktor Nikiforov.

Shadows. Always with the shadowy demons. No breaks, no mercy, just Shadows.

That was my nightmare, day in and day out, it never changed. I was born into a Shadowhunter family but I couldn't help thinking this life didn't agree with me. Whether I failed in training, got injured in the field or couldn't escape my dreams, life just never seemed to go the way I wanted it to. It was tiring, draining and I wasn't sure how much longer I would last.

My family had worked at the institute for centuries so I had grown up alongside the other children whose parents worked here like the Lightwood children. Alec and I were the same age and as we'd all grown, they became my siblings. When Jace joined the family it was no different, I just had an extra brother now. He was my family, just as much as the other three and that would never change.

Every day seemed to pass in a blur of lights and sounds, without ever seeming to become clear. Colours seemed to get blander as though my energy and colour were being drained from the world until all that remained were purple bags under my eyes, pale gaunt expressions and bruises from countless failures to dodge hits. If it wasn't for the loyalty of my family, I doubt I'd even be allowed to stay anymore. I was a liability to everyone especially my siblings and the thought of them getting hurt because of me, shattered my very soul. I lived for my family and the nightmares knew exactly that, perfect fuel to torture me.

Like right now, I knew I was dreaming, knew the street I was running down wasn't real, and the distant figures of my four siblings were actually tucked nice and warm in their beds but it felt so real. The dark, gruelling world in this dream had no end, just suffering and I was in for a night full of it. I tried to force myself awake, to see I was in the comfort of my own bedroom, Izzy just next door and the boys a little further down but my body refused to see it.

And so I was stuck suffering, barely hanging on, trying to pinch myself awake with the fear of being a failure looming as I watched them laughing together.

Shadows beneath my siblings' feet began to swirl and I hauled in a deep breath to prepare. Claws emerged from the shadows, scratching and scraping at their clothes and skin. Though I knew I would never win I tried to run, faster than I ever could but never seemed to get closer as the floor seemed to become treadmill-like. Eventually, my shadow sunk its claws into my arms, holding me back, locking me in place so I had to watch as the claws drew blood, splashing in rivulets on the floor, as it all mixed into one growing pool.

Alec's face was painted with determination as he tried to grab his siblings and Parabatai though his calves and ankles were shredded. Jaces was one of horror as it dawned on him that he couldn't save them. Izzy was in shock as she clambered to hold little Max and lift him away from the horror. Max was pure terror, the pain on his childish features as shadows morphed around his body and ripped his body into ribbons of flesh and muscle. I couldn't move, I was paralysed by the sight and no amount of willpower could make me escape as the shadows screeched taunts of my fauliure.

My jaw ached, my chest convulsing, with the scream of anguish, pain, loss and anger, red hot tears scorching my face like lava.

"Y/N! Y/N please." Izzy's voice called to me through the screams, a fresh wave of pain dousing me and taking my breath. Her shouts seemed to unlock my senses as the stench of blood and suffering filtered through as the fight seemed to leave my siblings' bodies. My knees caved under me, stopping me from getting closer to save them.

"Y/N," Alec's voice was gentle and calm, an awful contrast to the bare bone on his arms and the tortured look on his face. "You're safe, you're okay, just come back." I shook my head as dark rivers of blood oozed from his mouth, lips moving in time with the voice. I couldn't squeeze my eyes shut as their eyes started to dull and they sank to the floor in the huge puddle. "Come on, wake up, we're here." The reassurance echoed in my ears despite the dead eyes of my four siblings staring up at me.

I knew this wasn't real, but it seemed like it was. From the expressions of pain, the way they fought to protect each other and the way their life force seemed to drain before me. But, my siblings were shouting for me, calling me back to them, back to the land of the living.

"Y/N, you're scaring me." I struggled in the direction of Max's voice, towards my baby brother who sounded as if he was on the verge of breaking. Slowly but surely, feeling started to seep back into my body. The bed around me dipped with the weight of the four of them. I could tell by each touch who was where and it warmed my heart. Izzy's fingers were laced with mine, Jace sitting near my legs with a hand on my calf, Alec's Hand brushed my hair from my face and Max was just to my side, his small hands shaking my arm.

"I'm here little guy," my throat burned as I muttered to the child. "Didn't mean to scare you, Maxie, I'm here." He usually protested he was too old for the nicknames but right now he was a scared little boy and couldn't care less. I shakily slid myself up so I could face him and he buried himself in my chest. No matter how big he was, he had his moments where he was an ordinary child who got scared and sometimes just needed reassurance and a cuddle. I could never deny him that.

"It's okay, just a bad dream, I've got you." I lifted his chin, wiping his tears before he shuffled to lay beside me with his face on my chest and little arms wrapped around me. I couldn't tell if this was comfort for him or me but nonetheless, it was more than welcome. We all waited patiently for him to settle down, hiccups fading into long deep breaths and muscles relaxing as he went back to his own dreamland. I wouldn't talk about it in front of him whilst he was awake, id scared him enough for one night.

Once I was certain he was sleeping, I let out a long shaky breath, staring up at the ceiling as tears filled my eyes.

"Hey," Jace cooed, his thumb rubbing my calf to comfort me. "You're okay now." My chest ached as a few tears fell, squeezing my eyes shut for a moment. "Shadows again?" I nodded silently before opening my eyes.

"It seemed so real, it was awful. I knew it wasn't real but it seemed like it was." I shuddered, trying not to jostle Max too much. "Guessing I woke you guys up?" I already knew the answer, and judging by the movement in the hallway they weren't the only ones I had woken up.

"I heard you and woke Jace and Alec, it was worse than usual," Izzy admitted with a small smile. "Max heard us rushing in and followed us. He refused to leave until he knew you were okay." Her words melted my heart a little and I smiled down at his sleeping form.

"Every time, no matter what I try, I can't save any of you. I'm not strong enough, not good enough to fight them off and every time I watch the life drain from you, it's like I lose a piece of myself." My head pounded as I tried to hold in my sobs, comforted by the feeling of them around me. "I'm so sorry I woke you all up." I knew it wouldn't be the last time it happened but I still hated disturbing their sleep.

"You are good enough Y/N, you can't help what you dream about. You'll always be good enough." Alec's voice was tight, as though he was holding back his own emotions and I smiled up at him, taking hold of his hand with a squeeze. "You don't have to apologise for waking us, we're always here for you no matter what time of day it is, just like you always have been for us." I nodded and pressed a kiss to Max's head as the effects of my dream caught up with me, making me slump in exhaustion and stifle a yawn.

"I think we're gonna stay the night. Max isn't for shifting and you might sleep better with us here. Plus, I'm comfy now." I peered down at Izzy as she huddled under my arm and rested on my shoulder. I didn't mind them staying, my bed was sure big enough for a cuddle pile and I wouldn't complain about the company or warmth. We all scooted around getting comfy, my head lay against Alec who curled up on my other side, Max resting against us both and Jace manoeuvred himself to lay against my thigh without being kicked in the head by Izzy.

"I think I could do with the cuddles." I joked, huffing out a small laugh as sleep started to take hold. "Y'know I would do anything for you guys, right? You're my family and I love you all so much."

"We know Y/N," Izzy whispered sleepily. "We love you so much too. "

Why did I ever introduce my boyfriend to my sister! Oh no, not Izzy, but the one elder to Izzy, her parabatai, Y/N Lightwood. Anybody who sees he might think she’s an angel, but heavens know that she’s anything but an angel. I’ve had my doubts on whether she’s related to Satan.

I clearly remember the day I introduced them to each other. Y/N’s always been closest to me, so it was a big deal for me. We both stood at the entrance to Magnus’ loft. The moment Magnus opened the door, Y/N hugged him enthusiastically before saying, “Hi, I’m Y/n Lightwood, the second eldest lightwood. I’m so glad to finally meet you!”. Magnus looked at me amused. He then turned back to her and said, “Hello Cupcake, you’re definitely a change from the other lightwoods. I’m Magnus, but I assume you know that.”

They hit off soon after that. I couldn’t be happier to see my little sister and Magnus get along so well. He’s the first person she went to when dad “accidentally” let it slip that she’s adopted. That’s when I knew how much magnus meant to her. By the time I reached Magnus’ that day, I was upset, angry, worried and drenched wet in the rain. I had made dad promise that y/n should never know she’s an orphan, how could he have been so careless. I found the usually locked door open that day; I went in to find a drenched y/n crying her eyes out while Magnus held her. When she looked at me, I could see the betrayal in her eyes. We all fell asleep on the floor by the couch that day, it took a while, but after I kept repeating that none of us would ever love her any different, she was finally at peace.

But currently, I couldn’t care any less on how much they meant to each other. Its two in the morning and the house echoed with the sound of their senseless bickering! Finally, having enough, I went to the hall to check out what was going on. I found both Magnus and y/n on top of two tables at the far ends of the room. The room seemed to be divided into two, Y/n’s side decorated in all red with pictures of a trio, a few broom sticks, a banner that said “MARAUDERS” and lions, while Magnus’ side was decorated in all green with pictures of some platinum blond muggle actor, a weird nose less guy, a lake and snakes.

“What in the world is going on!” I yelled, silencing them both. The both looked at me in silence before yelling together “Magnus says- “, “she thinks- “… “Stop!” I yelled again. “Magnus, you go first,” I said as Y/n pouted. “Y/n called all Slytherins are obnoxious idiots!” he said. “That’s because they are!” she retaliated. She looked at me and continued, “And he said that Gryffindor is full of whiny babies!”. “Well, it’s true!” said Magnus. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. Weird names, color coordinated outfits and décor… this could only mean one thing: the two had gone on a Harry potter marathon. Now the two were trying to knock out each other’s décor. Magnus could do it with a flick of his finger, but of course, he wouldn’t. I tried stopping them, but since no one would listen, I threw a pillow at Y/n to get her attention. She moved out of the way and the pillow took her large banner down. She turned and glared at me. “Alexander Gideon Lightwood! How dare you!” she yelled. “I hit the wrong thing!” I tried to defend. “No you idiot! 18 Years ago your mother gave birth to the wrong thing!” she said, basically breathing fire now. By the time I could respond she was back to her bickering with Magnus. “Tell me one wizard who was a Slytherin and hasn’t gone bad!” she said with a smug look. But Magnus had on a smirk of his own, “Merlin.” He replied. Y/n looked as though someone had slapped her. “My whole life has been a lie” she murmured and Magnus laughed proudly.

“Please not the dramatic bed flop” I said, and that is exactly what she did. With one arm on her forehead, she did a free fall onto the couch the most dramatic way possible. Oh for the love of all that is good, how did I end up with these two idiots!

ADVENT 2018

I know, I know...we left without a trace or goodbye message and you all probably hate us for it. We're totally and absolutely sorry! 

Both Lein and I had a very very busy year. Loads of things have changed (I have a new job and now 2,5 hours of traveling each day, Lein got more responsibilities at hers), loads of things have happened and we both wanted to focus more on reading (my reading goal for 2018 is 200 books and I'M GETTING THERE!), on writing original stories (you can check them out on Annannette on Wattpad or follow the links on my personal tumblr @acourtofhopeanddreams) and on fanfic.

But...Each and every day we still get new followers, reblogs, comments on Wattpad, likes and messages.We're so thankful that even after all this time, our stories still resonate with people. 

So...I wanted to do something, just something small, to make sure that showandwrite doesn't completely cease to exist.

I will be doing an ADVENT 2018 project! From December 1st to December 31st I will post one imagine/drabble/fanfic a day and YOU are gonna decide what I'll write!

The rules:

I will write for all characters from Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries, the Originals, Riverdale and Shadowhunters. For Game of Thrones I will allow myself to be a little more selective, but please, request them and we'll see! (I'm afraid no the 100...that muse is totally absolutely fully gone...)

Each character can be requested only once (so we end up with 31 different characters and hopefully a lot of people with one something they like)

Requests are open from now until I have requests for 31 different characters, so...first come first serve!

Summary: Jace is an idiot and (Y/N) isn't afraid to let him know. Clary, however, isn't too happy with this and picks a fight with the wrong shadowhunter. After all, is said and done it’s Alec’s job to calm down his fiesty partner.

Request:  Alec and I are dating and I am almost as sassy as him but I am extremely fiesty. When Clary shows up i have the same opinion as Alec but she doesnt know that we are dating. When Jace brings up the Silent brothers and Clary says she wants to go, I say that its not a smart idea because she might not be strong enough. Clary gets offended by that and starts an argument with me. It escalates to the point where she insults me and I go to attack her. But before I can lay a hand on her, Alec grabs me and holds me back. Jace holds Clary back because he knows that if Clary lays a hand on me, Alec would gladly let me go to beat the shit outta her. I keep yelling at Clary, insulting her as Alec carries me to our bedroom. He closes the door and sets me down, I immediately try to walk past him to go fight Clary but he moves in my way. I tell him to get outta my way but he tells me to calm down. I start yelling at him about how you should never tell a woman to calm down. Then I start yelling about Clary being a bitch and thinking she knows everything when she doesn't, but Alec stops me by kissing me. I kiss back and it gets heated. He ends up picking me up and putting me on the bed. We then have sex to calm me down. (If you don't feel comfortable writing smut you don't have to write smut. But if you do feel comfortable writing smut then it would be greatly appreciated) Then some fluff and Alec teasing me about being fiesty. Thanks and sorry its so long

It's not that I have anger issues it's just some people are stupid. And Jace is one of the people. He's done a lot of stupid things in his life but to name a few; trying to backflip out his bedroom window because he's 'the best' when he was 13, copying Bieber's haircut when he was 14, sneaking out at 15 and having a jager bomb without ever trying alcohol, oh and running a random mundane which could potentially kill her.

The two missions shown to us was either the pandemonium or giving the werewolves at Taki's a warning. I was the lucky one that got to go to Taki's. since I was friends with a couple of the wolves there and was relatively liked by the downworld I stayed for a couple of drinks.

Let me tell you I wasn't impressed when I found my boyfriend and friends huddled outside the infirmary talking in hushed whispers. "Who died?" I asked.

Alec rolled his eyes, "This idiot," he nodded at Jace who looked beyond stressed, "Runed a mundane."

My eyebrows rose and I just stared at Jace who squirmed under my gaze. Jace and I had been friends long before he came to New York since my parents used to live in Idris near his home. In fact, it was him who introduced me to Alec and Izzy when I was 13. Through our friendship, despite him being the 'better shadowhunter' he knows I would kill him. "So, who's planning Jace's funeral?" I asked. Jace rolled his eyes "You think I'm kidding? The clave is going to kill you. Literally. Like dead dead. Like how Izzy looks without makeup,"

Isabelle punched my arm, "Hey! And she's not mundane. The rune didn't kill her,"

"Thank the angel. Because if it did we would all be taking a trip to the silent city," I said, putting my hands on my hips, "Now Jace get in there and figure out what the hell is going on,"

"She's asleep," Jace said.

"And?" I asked, turning on my heels and walking away.

I was going through a couple case files on an institutes computer when I sensed someone sneaking up on me. "Jace," I said, not looking up, "Don't even try it,"

When I heard a sigh and turned around to face them. My favourite trio was there with a random redhead and specky boy. Out of habit, I scanned over the two, inspecting for weapons, possible threats, and anything of importance. We'd been trained to do this, but the girls raised an eyebrow and crossed arms suggested she didn't know this. 

It had been Jace who sighed, "(Y/N), this is Clary and Simon," he said, "Clary's the-"

"Mundane shadowhunter thing. Yeah, I guessed," I nodded towards her rune. Isabelle was basically hanging off of Simon the girl had obviously caught Jace's attention. I shared a quick look with Alec who looked so done with life. "So, what's happening now?"

Jace shifted a little "e should go to the silent city." he started, about to clear his throat. I jumped in "To turn ourselves in? cause that's the only slightly logical reason,"

Blondie sighed "Look Clary can't remember anything about the shadow world, so my thoughts were that the silent brothers go into her head and get something,"

"I think it's an awful idea," Alec said. Jace glared at him but Alec shrugged.

I nodded, "For once he's right," Alec maybe my boyfriend, but we tease the living hell out of each other, "Have you ever thought to make a decision, I don't know, based of logic?"

Before Jace spoke Clary cut in "What's the big deal? I trust Jace and I want to do it," I turned to her with a quizzical look on my face, "You trust a random bloke who tattooed you in your sleep knowing it could kill you then took you to a random church? Did your mother not teach you about stranger danger?"

"Don't talk about my mom!" Clary said. Simon seemed to get more nervous and tried to warn her to stop because he seems to have a brain. "Who the hell do you think you are?"

"Me? I'm a shadowhunter. A shadowhunter who knows that even if we didn't get our butts kicked for doing any of this that you couldn't withstand the silent brothers," I tell her. Isabelle knows me well so sends me a warning look to back down. When did I ever listen? "you don't know enough to decide,"

"I know plenty!" she whines, "I'm going to college. What are you doing?"

"Trying to stop you dying?" I said in a sarcastic tone, "It's okay not to know everything," I say as if I was speaking to a five-year-old.

She was fuming. I mentally smirked. Alec, however, cut in "This is getting us nowhere. We need to make a decision,"

"Well I'm deciding we're doing it," Clary rushed out, almost tripping over her words, "And that's not coming with us,"

"That?" I ask. "Honey if you don't back off we'll have to have words,"

"What are you going to do? You already said you'd get in trouble if I got hurt," she said ass if she'd won. "Not so smart now?" she smiled, looking to Jace for backup but he looked down, not meeting anyone's gaze.

I stepped closer to her and Isabelle stepped closer to me, keeping me back, "Honey-"

"Don't call me honey!" she cut me off "Why are all you shadowhunters so disrespectful,"

"Earn my respect," I told her, crossing my arms, "Don't waltz in and act like you know everything. You don't tell the firefighters how to put out a fire," 

"I'm just saying you don't need to be so mean," she mumbled.

"And I'm just saying be quiet!" I yelled. I took a breath and recomposed myself "If you want to go to the silent brothers go for it. however, what I, an educated person," I directed that at Jace, "Would do is get you a little training before putting you through a potentially deadly idea."

"That's a good idea." Alec said, "Its better the girl be prepared before if you really want to go,"

"Of course, you'd agree with (Y/N)," Clary whined, "You refuse to even say my name," "Yeah that's because I don't plan on having to remember it," Alec said.

"Do you try to be an ass, or does it come naturally?" Clary asked.

No one insults my man, "Hey! Who the hell do you think you're talking to?" I asked her.

"What do you like him or something?" she asked. "You do don't you? That's why you hate Jace because Alec fancies him. You're just being a jealous kid," Clary said, "Get over it. he's rejected you," She clearly thought she'd cracked my code, but I was about to crack her skull, "It's pathetic,"

Stepping closer, I sized her up. Isabelle stepped back not wanting to be involved. Clary was smirking but I wanted to growl. Simon went to pull Clary back, but Isabelle stopped him. "Alec is my boyfriend, you little skank. And he and Jace are parabatai. It's you who should be worried because your flatter than a toddler and have less chance with Jace than Simon!" I yell in her face. "And if you keep talking about my family, I'll knock your teeth in," "At least I'm not a disappointment to my parents," she says.

I let out a couple short laughs. "Well eh you see," I say between fake chuckles before pulling my fist back. It's about to connect with her face when Alec grabs my arm, pulling me back and hugging me from behind to stop me. I let all hell loose, "Who the hell do you think you are?! Don't you ever dare talk about my parents! I swear to the angels!"

Alec is trying to calm me down but it's hard. My parents were on an undercover mission in Prague and I don't even know if they're still alive. You never talk about shadowhunters parents. The likelihood their alive isn't great. When clary steps forward I know Alec must be glaring at her because Jace grabs her arm, not letting her get closer.

Isabelle looks in between the situation, "Alec why don't you take (Y/N) to your room. Calm down yeah?"

The whole time Alec is pulling me away Clary and I are glaring at each other. Were out of mundane earshot but not shadowhunter so she says, "What the hell is wrong with them?" Alec had to literally drag me.

He pushed me into our room and shut the door behind us. I flopped down onto the bed and crossed my arms. "This is ridiculous. The newbie doesn't know anything and she's gonna say I'm dumb? Hell no!"

Alec can't help but chuckle and I glare, "Feisty much?" I roll my eyes, "You're hot when you're angry,"

"I must be Brad Pitt and Angelina rolled into one right now," Alec walked over and plopped down beside me, putting an arm over my shoulder, "You know I don't get that reference," he says.

I just shake my head, "How are we dating?"

"Because we love each other. And when someone like clary insults the other we almost break the law. Oh, and we're pretty hot together," He shrugs.

I roll my eyes with a chuckle. "Really?" I ask and he hums a yes, "Cocky much?"

"I could show you if we drop the Y," he smirked.

I cringe, "That was the worst joke you've ever made,"

Alec can't help but chuckle, "Yeah it is. Angel that was bad," He cringes as well, and I laugh. "At least you're not as...feisty,"

I hummed, "Really?" I asked, leaning in closer.

He hums and leans closer as well, his breath fanning my lips, "Maybe just a little," he glances at my lips, asking permission. I leant up closing the gap. My hands sneak up to hold his shoulders while he grabs my waist, bringing me onto his lap. He pulled back a little. "I like it feisty though," before closing the gap again.

This time I pushed him back though, so I was still onto, "I'll give you feisty," I mumbled against his lips.

Request: A shadow Hunter imagine where reader is a young orphaned Shadow hunter but Alec and Magnus take you in, but you still insist on taking care of yourself because you've been alone for so long even though they insist you don't have to

Alec was at the Institute when you were brought in, you were young, far too young to be on your own in his opinion, since they had found of your work you were more than capable of being on your own, Alec, however, thought that it would be better for you to be with someone who focused on your rather than being in the fast-moving Institute so he took you to Magnus. Magnus was more than happy to welcome you in. You were good at looking after yourself and insisted on doing it, Magnus had figured it was because you knew that he was a downworlder but it had nothing to d with that.

"(Y/N)!" Alec called as he walked into the apartment, you emerged from your room stretching slightly and walked over to him, he smiled at you as you sat down and you smiled back. "Hi." You greeted and he smiled and then something else seemed to settle on your face. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine, I need to ask you something," Alec said as he leant forward his elbows rested on his knees. "Do you like Magnus?" You asked and you nodded. "Yeah, he's nice." You answered. "Nice?" He asked. "So you don't hate him?" "Why would I hate him? He's done more for me than anyone that I know if anything you two are the only family that I have." You answered, you looked at him for a second and then your eyes widened. "You think I don't like him because he's a downworlder?" "You never let him help you, we thought that was because he was a downworlder," Alec answered and that was when Magnus walked into the room. "Downworlder or not Magnus is one of the only people that have cared about me for a long time and that where the problem is, I've had to do a lot alone and now that you guys are here it hard to remember that I don't have to do this on my own." You explained. "Well, you don't have to anymore." He assured you and you smiled. "No, I don't." You affirmed.

Alec had been... distant lately. He hadn’t been talking much, hell, you’d barely seen him, He would just go back to his room and only come out when he was needed. It worried you. Something was wrong, that was absolutely clear, but you didn’t know what. So, you decided to take it upon yourself to find out.

You knocked on his door, “Alec?” No answer. He was in there, you’d watched him go inside, but he just didn’t want to talk, “Alec, come on, I know you’re in there.”

Again, there was silence. You knocked on the door harder, “Alec, I’m not leaving until you let me in.”

“I’m busy.” Came his muffled reply.

You rolled your eyes, “Doing what? Ignoring me? Let me in, Alec, we need to talk.”

“I don’t want to talk.” He sounded closer but the door was still locked.

You sighed, “Alec, please... You’re my best friend. Just... let me in, please.”

There was a long pause and just when you were about to give up and walk away, the lock clicked and he opened up, “Okay... You can come in.”
