I have so many mixed feelings about Fire Emblem Engage but I do really like that I could give the ring to anyone despite gender. So guess my male Alear is now married to Alcryst. I am still not a big fan of this cast but he is my poor little meow meow and one of my best units so if I got to S-support anyone he gets the honor.

His Queen

-Diamant is a proud ruler, and even though he’s married to you now, he has trouble allowing you to take on some of the burdens of his kingdom.

-You know he works so hard to keep Brodia thriving. He wants to make his father proud, and make Brodia an even better kingdom than his father left it, but doing so can take quite a toll on him.

-From board meetings, to peace councils, its all a lot for one King, but he refuses to let you lift a pretty finger in any share of the work, less you get hurt.

-“It’s a feast, not a battle field I’ll be fine. This kingdom is my responsibility now too, Diamant. Otherwise I wouldn’t be the Queen. I just think you’re overworking yourself as of late. Maybe it’s time for a break.” You would say. Diamant would sigh and look into your eyes. Finally relenting that maybe you’re right, and that you’re more capable to pick up some more work around the kingdom.

-Following that discussion he would allow you to take on more responsibilities around Brodia . Only a little at a time though, he still doesn’t want to burden you with his job no matter how much you insist on it being alright.

-Diamant is a really sweet and loving husband, all things considered. He despises not being able to be around you every second of the day, and makes sure to send you lots of flowers, jewelry, and other small trinkets to remind you he’s always thinking of you even when he’s not there.

-When he’s feeling especially sentimental (Or bored at certain kingly affairs) He’ll often quietly slip the ring you gave him out of his concealed pocket, absently fidgeting with the precious band as his thoughts drift to those of you. Your smell, your laugh, your eyes. He really cant get enough.

-When you first started courting, he began to train even harder in order to be able to protect you better, and that worry only expanded when you got married. Often you’ll have to turn away security guards Diamant has sent to protect you when he’s not around. While this habit of his is slightly annoying, you know it comes from a place of love and try not to let it bother you too much.

-Nights with Diamant can be wondrous yet also difficult. After long days of not being able to see each other he loves to hold onto you and simply be in your presence as you recount the events of your day. He loves listening to the sound of your voice and claims it’s the only thing that can get him to sleep.

-Speaking of sleep, it is not uncommon for Diamant to have restless nights. You’ll often awake to an empty bed only to find Diamant on the balcony. Silent tears rolling down his face.

-Trying to get him to speak on his feelings would prove difficult. He’ll assure you that he’s fine, even though you can still see the traces of his tears on his otherwise flawless features. With enough coaxing and ensuring that it’s okay to not be okay, he’ll finally open up to you.

-He’ll express his worry for his brother, who had to kill their father all because Diamant couldn’t muster up the courage. His guilt for not being strong enough when the time came to be. He worries about how it affected Alcryst. As well as fearing he’s not cut out for running a kingdom when his own little brother had to take charge because of his hesitation. He worries the same will happen to you, and he won’t be able to save you. He says that he’s a coward not fit to rule.

-You immediately take to hugging your distressed husband, previous annoyances with his overprotective habits dissipating as you realize he was just scared. Tears of your own roll down your cheeks, as you console and reassure your husband that he’s an incredible ruler, and an even better husband. You say that fear isn’t a bad thing, and that its a normal thing everyone experiences. You acknowledge that Alcryst was the one to step up when things got bad, but that doesn’t make Diamant weak, having to kill a parent is a task no one wants to do. You say if it continues to bother him, he should speak with Alcryst himself. You’re sure that Alcryst would appreciate it since he looks up to Diamant so much.

-You explain to Diamant that he is a great ruler, and his subjects love him as well as you. Diamant thanks you for your kind words and embraces you. He apologizes for causing you distress, but you make him shut up those self-deprecating comments with a kiss, and say he never has to apologize for having emotions.

-Coaxing Diamant back into bed, he has one of the most peaceful nights sleep in a long time with his queen by his side.

Knuckles sting as Diamant draws his fist back, watching as the nobleman on the ground scrambles back, shuffling desperately along the floor. The man's attendants are quick to rush to his side, ushering him back to his feet as he clutches his bloodied jaw and blusters. Shouting of broken agreements and void business deals, interspersed through threats of how the king will hear of this!!... such brutish behavior from Morion's PRIDE and joy.

But Diamant can only think of one thing—Alcryst, and the insults he'd taken from this man. To be called weak. To even insinuate that he was not father's son, that mother would have somehow stepped out on her husband...

Diamant has to stop himself from striking the man again. He had enough to explain already.

Prince reaches out to place a hand to his brother's head, pausing when he finally registers the blood staining his white gloves. Crimson eyes close for a moment. That hand is retracted, and the other rests upon cobalt locks instead.

"Hey," Diamant says softly to the boy, "Don't pay attention to that—it's all hot air. You are the son of Morion. You are Mother's heart, and my brother. You are our family, and a prince of Brodia. Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise."

A shocked Alcryst screams in terror. The nobleman spits and bleeds, eyes wild with anger. The young prince finds himself frozen in place. His legs won't move at all. For a moment, he fears he's going to get throttled.

The atmosphere had already been tense with the nobleman's cruel words. Strange words, not quite mean but not very kind either, now turn into shouting and threats. It's a fight among giants, between his big brother and grown men, all towering over Alcryst. All he can do is avoid getting trampled in the fray. So he shrinks back, cowering behind Diamant and trying not to whimper as he cries.

Alcryst doesn't dare speak. It would be bad to draw attention to himself right now. It's his fault that this is happening in the first place, isn't it?

Diamant places a hand on his head. Alcryst can't help but flinch in fear. He's never seen this side of Diamant before. His kind, gentle brother who has never raised a hand at him or anyone else, becomes unpredictable. Will Diamant turn his anger towards Alcryst now? It's his fault this is happening, after all.

His brother tries to comfort him with soft words. But try as Alcryst might, he's too frazzled to understand. Mother is Mother. Father is Father. Diamant is his brother. They are a family, and Alcryst never questioned it before. For that nobleman to act like it's a lie... for Diamant to react so scarily... everything Alcryst has ever known suddenly seems uncertain.

"But he said other people believe it, too!" Alcryst protests in between hiccups. The more he thinks about it, the more worried he gets, and the more he cries. "I know I'm weak... If I get stronger, can Dad still be my dad?"

Dialear Post-Game Headcanons

Alear enchants the Pact Ring to be able to open portals to the Sominel, that way he and Diamant can live together still, even while Diamant rules as King of Brodia.

Diamant dislikes pulling the ‘my husband the Divine Dragon King, would not be very happy with this situation’ card for reasons of principle, but when he has to saying ‘my husband’ gives him a little thrill.

Alear has no reservations about gushing about his awesome husband by contrast, and has to make a conscious effort not to favor Diamant and Brodia in matters of international politics.

Their actual wedding was very small and private, with only the members of the Inner Circle invited, much to the disappointment of Brodian aristocrats who wanted to make a big to-do in order to brag how their king was marrying God.

(Veyle, Alcryst, Framme, and Clanne all cried.)

Alear’s memories about his time under his father’s control start coming back eventually, and he begins to have nightmares of the things he did (and of the things his father threatened to do to him), but wanting to seem strong and for people not to worry, he dosen’t tell anyone.

Diamant can tell of course, and has to gently remind Alear that in each other, they each have someone they can always trust, and vulnerable with.

Diamant holds him during the worst of the nightmares, and strokes his hair, reminding him when he wakes up that they defeated Sombron, that he dosen’t have to be afraid anymore, that he’s not alone anymore.

Diamant also encourages him to talk to Veyle, the only person who really understands what Alear is going through. He resists at first, not wanting to put that on his little sister, but ultimately takes the advice.

Diamant comes to look at Veyle like his own sibling, and helps her in her efforts to restore and repopulate Gradlon, mostly with financial aid and resources. This causes the other kingdoms to do the same out of a good nautred competitiveness.

Alcryst was the first person to realize that Diamant and Alear had feelings for each other and is quietly relieved, because he’s always felt Diamant needed someone to love and care for him like Alear does, someone Diamant dosen’t have to always be strong for. He and Alear are already good friends, and slot naturally into being brothers-in-law.

Diamant adores Sommie. Sommie, who is jealous of Alear’s affection, takes a while to warm up to Diamant.

Diamant comes to be worshiped as a kind of Saint/Divine King by his people due to his marriage, something that makes Diamant a little uncomfortable but amuses Alear endlessly. This is partly because Diamant devote much of Brodia’s military to hunting down and destroying the remaining Corrupted, both for the sake of the world, and so Alear wont have to fear them anymore.

Ever since he decided to be brave, Alcryst had only seen wonderful improvements in his life. He Dever before, and he was able to forge stronger, more open and honest relationships with so many of his friends.

Best of all, though, it saw the arrival of peace in the four kingdoms. With that peace meant a beautiful, elegant and boisterous wedding that was full of joy and color. 

The event rang in the union of the second prince and his beloved, the Divine Dragon Alear. It was truly a moment for the ages, a week-long celebration that was one for the history books.

The six days leading up to the wedding were wonderful, each day more memorable than the last. 

But none were perhaps as important to Alcryst than the wedding day. Exchanging vows with you, and promising yourselves to one another. And your first night together was just…a beautiful blur.

Alcryst was the first one to wake up, staring up at the canopy that drifted lazily in the morning breeze, like he was in a living dream. He breathed softly and deeply, taking in the scent, the sounds, and the sensations. He had never been so happy in his life.

There was a deep sigh next to him, suddenly reminding him of the tender warmth radiating beside him. Alcryst looked over to where his wife slept peacefully beside him.

His heart skipped about three beats; his wife was sleeping next to him.

The youngest prince of brodia had married the Divine Dragon. It was too good to be true, and yet here you were, snuggled up beside him and sleeping without a care in the world.

A lopsided smile lifted the corners of his mouth. He reached out, cautiously, running his fingers along your cheek. You were so soft, and so veyr warm. 

There was surely nothing better than what he was feeling. His fingers slipped away, tucking a strand of vibrant blue hair behind your ear. 

He would have gone for another strand, had his hand not been caught by yours. 

Alcryst gasped, startled by the undetected motion. You inhaled deeply before your eyes slowly opened, revealing eyes that sparkled like sapphires and rubies. 

“Good morning, my love.”

Your morning voice sent shivers down his spine. He was sure his face flushed the second you spoke. 

“G-good…good morning, Alear.” He managed to eek out a reply, earning a sleepy smile. You leaned in closer to him, so that you might lean up and kiss him softly on the lips.

As if he wasn’t already flushed and rosy.

“How are you feeling?” You asked in a gentle and tender voice, which he knew he could easily get drunk on. 

“I feel…I feel great. Last night…yesterday, I mean, all of it…it was wonderful.” He said, sounding just as breathless as he did when he spoke his vows.

You were beaming at him, the joy illuminating your entire face.

“Did you…did you have a good time, too?”

“Of course I did.” You giggled, “You were wonderful. And such an attentive communicator, too.” 

“C-come on!”

“I’m just teasing.” Your fingers brushed along his ear, quite proud of your ability to change colors. “I’m just so happy that I get to wake up beside you every morning…that I finally get to have you in my life when things aren’t hinging on the end of the world.”

“It’ll certainly be a nice change of pace…” He hummed, letting you pull him to your chest. Alcryst was happily the little spoon, burying his face in your warmth and wrapping his arms around you. You squeezed him close, reveling in the tender joy that filled the Divine Dragon’s quarters.

“How long do you think we’ll have until someone sends for us?” You broke the silence once again, “I doubt they’d let us stay up here alone for very long.”

“It’s the day after our wedding, Alear. I don’t think there’s anyone brave enough to try.” He whispered back, relaxing against the sound of your heartbeat.

He did have a good point, you figured, relenting your worries and snuggling in with your dear new husband. Alcryst was limber and toned, and his frame was deceiving. He certainly wasn’t as broad as his brother or father, but he had a lovely body…and certainly one that you were happy to keep your arms around.

To be fair, though, everything about him was lovely.

The fawning would have continued longer, but about half an hour later you were greeted to Diamant boisterously knocking on the door and asking when you two “lazy bones” were going to get out of bed and train with him.

Mercifully, someone dragged him away from the doors before you had slunk out of bed and thrown on some clothes.

You took the opportunity to snuggle back in with your husband…who now needed additional comfort to recover from the embarrassment of Diamant almost barging in on you both naked.

It was the start of an interesting life.

Tharja: Not a fan of her. I already don't like to overt fanservy designs and it isn't helping that she is only allowed to be fanservice.

Celine: Cute! Altough I find her hair rather distracting (girl how much shampoo do you use???) I especially like her little hat!

Diamant: I like his weapon! I do find him rather... boring? Maybe too much black (I know its a ninja festival, but not like anyone else cares! )

Lucina & Chrom: Chrom now has a Duo with his husband, his (future) wife and his daughter! I also thought Lucina had her hair in her Marth haircut, but no its just a ponytail (still pretty). They also seem rather strong, so maybe I try to pull for them (altough I don't plan to leave many orbs on the banner)

Noire: She's.... there. I don't really have a option on her, but good for her fans! Maybe she's in the next Awakening banner?

I also like to note that the theme seems to be family and then there are just Celine and Diamant. Poor Alfred and Alcryst

I’m playing Fire Emblem Engage!

Thoughts so far? (I’m on Chapter 11) (also spoilers if that wasn’t clear)

Louis is my husband and I would die for him (also a beast on the battlefield like slap Sigurd on this boy and he’s invincible)

I wish Anna was a bit less “take 20 damage in one encounter” because I’d love to use her more

Ring Gacha hurts my soul but I’m trying

Celine is out here killin’ bitches left and right, I was worried she’d be too fragile, but she can hold her own!

Vander continues to be great on the field, with Roy equipped, he’s practically as good as Louis/Sigurd. It’s just nice having two cavalry units

Alcryst is a godsend. Etie was great, but she just doesn’t hold a candle to Alcryst. The second I got Lyn, I slapped her on him. I have yet to test the Alcryst/Lyn combo, but I’m sure it won’t disappoint.

Yunaka is one of my favourite characters. Just a little blurbo at the Somniel, and a demon on the battlefield.

Diamant is hot, but I’m saving myself for Louis.

That’s about it on updates. I just wanted an excuse to gush about the game. So far I’ve been having a wonderful time, and look forward to how the game will progress in the future

Have you played Fire Emblem Engage?

So far the story isn’t my cup of tea but oh, my god, Alcryst is the cutest character in the game so far! (Also, if he has tragic backstory reasons for his anxiety and low self esteem and it was a abusive family member/teacher/whoever they are getting a Lodestar Rush to the face.)

No spoilers, please!

I have not played it yet! I've been avoiding spoilers as well, I haven't had a chance to play basically anything while we've been moving 😭

I do love the character designs though, I went through them as soon as they were leaked so I could be like. that one's my husband now
