I spent the last week cleaning my room for the first time in three years, and someone told me it looked like it was out of a magazine when I finished. 7 days straight of hard work clearing out three years worth of depression and alcoholism. I'm gonna be 6 months sober in 5 days, starting a new job next week, and going to enroll in cosmetology school. I've never been more proud of myself.

Well, since he didn’t go to University after he finished school so he could focus on trying to become a musician, he’s become a bit bored with his life. WHY SHOULD THEY BE ON THE BACHELORETTE?

I think I should be on the Bachelorette because I feel like I’ve spent so much of my time focusing on school and work that I haven’t really explored dating much besides girls my mother and her friends have tried to set me up with. POINT 1: Barney has been through so much shit. Just a non-stop shit show of whatever is going on at the moment. Aka

Point 2: literally everyone, except Kliner, that he knew from Black Mesa is assumed dead

Do you know how much that fucks with someone??? His best friend Gordon? Dead. His security team friends? Oh yeah they're dead. He probably watched some of them turn into Headcrab zombies and then had to kill them. Even the Scientists that were annoying but cool are dead. Everyone he knows is gone and now he's alone.

Point 3: motherf*ckin ptsd, stress, anxiety, anything

Okay so we all know his opinions on Lamarr. Freakin head humper n all. But like, what happens every time he sees military? Every panic attack he's had to suppress because something set off something else. Every night he's spent waiting to go to sleep but he can't because he's on high alert all. The. Goddamn. Time. Anything and everything could kill him. The roof could cave in, the military could burst through the door and point guns at him, combine could find out, that dark splotch in the corner of the room? It's a Headcrab waiting to strike. Zombies under the bed. LITERALLY ANYTHING.

Point 4: his friends could die horribly.

Barney k n o w s first-hand, and has been on the giving end, of punishments from the combine. He knows what they're capable of. So imagine he sees Gordon for the first time in 20 years. He's probably losing his goddamn mind, I'm suprised that he didn't just give Gordon the largest hug later. And in the moment he had to control himself but he was probably terrified that Gordon and him would get caught with Gordon getting beat up pretty badly or possibly even killed by the other Civilian Protections officers. Alyx being as daring as she usually is could get injured and lost or even worse. Kliner could get found out and captured and tortured for information and skills, everyone at the White Forest base could be brutally murdered at any moment and he might have to be one of the ones to do it.

It's a lot for one guy to hang onto for that long. 20 years. It's amazing that he hasn't collapsed yet. You can't expect this man who's gone through hell and back to just be okay. He's working with whatever coping mechanisms he's got right now because the world's gone to shit and he can't do anything about it. I get that alcoholism isn't a good coping mechanism at all but what he needs (therapy and several months worth of sleep) isn't available right now. He can't cry because then he'd be seen as weak, he can try to be happy but honestly, where's the happy. He can't get angry because he doesn't want to lash out at anyone. He's supposed to be the cool guy that has a funny accent and everyone can rely on. The man has to be emotionally distant and available at the same time. So no. I don't wanna see any more of those "Barney Calhoun is bad and an alcoholic and his Character is so stupid!!!" Posts because i will drain every last drop of life out of your body through a silly straw you two-bit bitch.

im like. currently living in an absuive household and drinking makes em calm enough to sleep. my therapist says i have a Weird case of ocd that only acts up in my home or around my family, and i only feel the need to drink when im there. if i dont i obsessively shower 4-6 times a night and have panic attacks til i sleep

i know, based on experience, once im out of this house i wont need to rely on alcohol. at the moment tho its definitely preferable to the multiple panic attacks i have a night if i dont. i know drinking this much is bad and im actively working to ease back, but at the same time it saves me hours of panic attacks and suicidal thoughts, so i’m lightly drinking til i can escape this abuse ykno?

im working to be more healthier and drink less. im also working to move out. im sorry if i worry you,, i know my state is worrying. im sorry
