If You Haven't Started Using Alcohol and Other Drugs Yet
I realize that, more than likely, this article will be read by adults but will be shared in some way (hopefully through meaningful conversation vs., “Here, go read this”) with junior high kids, teenagers and young adults fresh out of high school, young adults in college, or those who are in that awkward phase of life where they are considered to be adults but are still susceptible to the kind of…

Lets start from the beginning...
To begin, a statistical fact from 2017: 1 in every 25 kids between the ages of 12 and 17 suffer from a substance use disorder. Next time you walk around a public place, keep that in the back of your mind as you look around. Take a second and imagine the hidden suffering that is behind all of those children’s eyes. Kids that age going through so many public changes with private demons behind closed doors have learned to put up a mask in front of their true emotions, burying it like a toxic seed that consumes happiness to blossom anger and depression. Remember, that is only those between 12-17 years old... (American Addiction Centers, 2021)
For clarification purposes I want to make one thing clear before proceeding into more detail as this blog progresses, ALCOHOL IS A DRUG! My hope is that you, as a reader, can adopt this idea or at least for the sake of this blog, discover how destructive this substance is to society. Alcohol may be legal throughout the majority of the world, may help calm nerves temporarily, may make you feel like the life of the party, but make no mistake that on the other end of the spectrum, it is the true gateway drug and has a higher death rate than all other substances combined (Fitzgerald, 2020).

About a year ago today I stopped #drinking. Just like that. Went #coldturkey overnight. The results have been amazing so far. Much better sleep, memory, interactions and overall health. My finances are a lot healthier too thanks to my decision to quit #ALCOHOL. Alcohol is the worst drug there's is because 1. It's legal, 2. It's available everywhere 3. It's accepted socially and not frowned upon by many like other drugs. Get rid of your addictions and free yourself 💚 . . . . . . #addiction #alcoholabuse #alcoholism #alcoholisbad #drinkingisbad #alcoholkills #quitdrinking #quitalcohol #addictionrecovery #saynotodrugs #saynotoalcohol #notoalcohol #notodrinking #me #selfie #myself #dontdrink #dontdodrugs #alcoholisadrug #soberlife #sober #straightedge #teetotaler #teetotalism — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2Biz3SH

Ironic that my roommate’s friends are driving home after having alcoholic drinks. Substance use disorders (alcohol is a depressant!) were on the test I just had. Pleaseeee don’t drive if you’re under the influence. You never know what can happen.
