Battle #13
U. F. O. : Obsession ( Side Two )
Vs.
The Go-Gos : Beauty and the Beat ( Side 2 )
U. F. O. : Obsession ( Side Two )
UFO are an English rock band that was formed in London in 1968. They became a transitional group between early hard rock and heavy metal and the new wave of British heavy metal. Theyâve been at this so long they have influenced (in one way or another) many of the bands that came after them. Bands like Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dokken, Anthrax, Dio, Megadeth, Guns ânâ Roses...just to name a few. They are probably most notable for having Michael Schenker from The Scorpions in the band for most of their heyday. Phil Mogg is the founding and longest running member of the band. UFO's early work was strongly influenced by space rock, but they soon found the format limiting and moved on to heavier sounds. So this is their 7th studio album and the beginning of the bandâs success and notability. âHot ânâ Readyâ is the first tune they hurl at us on Side Two. Itâs an accurate description of the bandâs sound. Screaming leads that bleed. Real raunch rock if Zeppelin and Queen had a love child, this would be it. Nazz-ty! (#seewhatididthere)
âCherryâ is the slow building follow up. Time for a rock off ballad style. There is some give and take with a bit of quite meets rock stage show that unfolds. âYou Donât Fool Meâ fills the stadiums with crazy and catchy, winding leads, but overall it is a pretty quick one. âLooking Out for Number One (reprise)â returns (as the title suggests) from Side One. The solo acts as the lyrics, and itâs very Queen inspired. âOne More for the Rodeoâ sees another winner in that this would make an epic late night, winding road jam. Did I mention; cowbell!?! Next up, âBorn to Loseâ-which has defined Pink Floyd meets stairway to heaven sound. It kind of wimps out after it kicks in though. Some real complexity in this one though. Collector nerd notes: this is a Czech pressing (Because I got it in the Czech Republic) and it also features a Hipgnosis cover(an art collective known for their award winning album covers and general creativity).
The Go-Goâs : Beauty and the Beat ( Side 2 )
The Go-Go's are an American new wave band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1978. Except for short periods when other musicians joined briefly, the band has had a relatively stable line-up consisting of Charlotte Caffey on lead guitar and keyboards, Belinda Carlisle on lead vocals, Gina Schock on drums, Kathy Valentine on bass guitar, and Jane Wiedlin on rhythm guitar. The Go-Go's rose to fame during the early 1980s and were the first, and to date only, all-female band that both wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to top the Billboard album charts. Emphasis on that last part...The Runaways had plenty of hits, but they just didnât chart like these ladies. Make NO mistake though, they absolutely kicked in the door for The Go-Goâs. Their 1981 debut album, Beauty and the Beat, is considered one of the cornerstone albums of US new wave, breaking barriers and paving the way for a host of other new American acts. When the album was released, it steadily climbed the Billboard 200 chart, ultimately reaching No. 1, largely due to the never ending parade of hits! They initially formed as a punk band and in fact in the early days used to open for some of the L. A. Scenes legendary punk bands like X and hang out with The Germs. This may be why, then, this debut is so well written. They have a knack for quick, catchy, power pop tunes. Itâs actually pretty impressive. Side two starts out with a very well known classic, âWe Got The Beatâ. Yes, indeed. They do have it. Itâs surfy turf and meaty. Quite catchy. Theyâve got the backbeat too. Handclaps and backslaps all around. âFading Fastâ follows and is a minor hit, with Carlisleâs vocals being near perfection. Upbeat pop with power...could this be a song about their many groupies? âAutomaticâ might be the most different sounding for the band, but I have to say, they really nailed it here. Slower and almost Bauhaus in nature. I absolutely love the odd timing and pauses. More Goth than Go-Goâs! âYou canât Walk in your Sleepâ seems to have the ladies returning to pop punk. In fact, itâs 100% modern pop punk, but in 1981. Another great and catchy tune. The next one is called âSkidmarks on my Heartâ. Now, the 12 year old in me really wants to make underwear jokes, but I canât find anything under there so...
These ladies simply do not let up. Hook after sugary sweet hook! The vocals are so real too. Very impassioned and cracking in the voice. The last one is maybe one of the best tunes on the whole album. It was a single called âCanât Stop the Worldâ. It has a badass breakdown. And a good message thatâs on point. Itâs on of the few Valentine penned songs, but itâs a great one. More than anything the Go-Goâs prove that girls can play and write too. This band and the aforementioned Runaways really helped open some doors for girls in an otherwise predominantly male role. This album is fantastic and any one of these songs runs circles around some of the other âpop songsâ on the radio at this time. Hell, even TODAY!!!
So today U. F. O. Was obsessed. They burned 117 calories over 19 minutes and 6 songs. They burned 19.50 calories per song and 6.16 calories per minute. They earned 14 out of 18 possible stars. The Go-Goâs certainly proved they have beauty AND the beat. They burned 128 calories over 19 minutes and 6 songs. They burned 21.33 calories per song and 6.74 calories per minute. They earned an impressive 18 out of 18 possible stars. Thatâs only happened one other time in RRW history! The Go-Goâs are todayâs obvious winner!!

henlo!!!! could you rank your top 5 girl groups and gie reasons why :O
omg YES!! of course!
#5 - EXID:
they consistently produce fantastic/unique songs, they perform well, the dances for their songs are always well-choreographed, and theyâre super well-rounded in terms of having a strong rapper, strong vocals, and strong dancers! itâs admirable to see how they went from an unknown group from a small company to becoming the powerhouse group they are today
#4 - CLC:
they finally got some of the recognition they deserve during no era! overall theyâve been pretty underrated, especially considering that they come from a rather reputable company. i loved them a lot when they released their older songs like pepe, no oh oh, etc. and iâve continued to love them since they decided to take the turn towards a more confident/empowering image. also their b-sides are probably some of my favorite b-sides by any group!
#3 - Brave Girls:
theyâre a group of girls who deserve so so much love. they sadly donât get much attention from their company and usually have long periods in between comebacks (including a long hiatus from 2012ish to 2016 that made them lose a majority of their original lineup). but these girls are so talented. they have powerful vocals and great dancing skill, and some of their earlier tracks like the high heels + deepened albums and the b-sides from the rollinâ album feature fantastic rapping! they have so much potential and such great energy and really they could rule the charts if their company gave them the chance to promote regularly (especially considering how their manager, brave bros., has produced numerous winning songs in the past)
#2 - Red Velvet:
red velvet are very personally an important group for me! they were the first girl group i listened to regularly, seulgi was my first girl group bias ever, and so far the only girl group iâve gotten to see live. but other than that, their title tracks are always exciting and fresh and much like clc, they have some of my favorite b-sides out of any group! i wish i had more to say about why i love them so much but i canât find the words for it, i just do!! also fun fact the bad boy mv is what made me come to terms w/ the fact that iâm not straight HFJKSD
Honorable Mention/Forever a special place in my heart -Â Stellar:
stellar⊠the reasoning behind the first part of url and for a long time, my favorite girl group of all time. they sadly disbanded a little over a year ago but it was for the better for all of them. they endured so many hardships during their run as stellar, mostly due to unfair treatment/exploitation on their companyâs part. i wonât go into it too much here, but these women deserved the whole world and they deserved so much more than what they received. theyâre immensely talented and charismatic and they had so much potential to become a force to reckon with but sadly coming from a small company and having negative attention on them prevented that from happening. while stellar mightâve faded out as my favorite group, theyâll forever be special to me and iâll never forget how hard they worked.
Other Honorable Mentions:
Dreamcatcher: unique rock/dark concept that they donât budge from, admirable with the way they donât change pronouns for song covers (with the exception of bang bang bang where they changed the lyrics to be more empowering to women), admirable with the way they recognize/acknowledge how a big part of their fanbase is female, yoohyeon correcting a show host to say âhardworking personâ as opposed to âhardworking manâ.
gugudan: i donât have much to say aside from they never fail to give us fresh new concepts and they deserve to get a win already
#1 - LOONA:
u probably knew this was coming fhskdjf. anyways i donât even have enough words to describe what these girls mean to me.. not only is their concept as a group unique with how they all got to express themselves through solo songs and music videos and even further as subunits, but that uniqueness has stuck with them even more since coming together as 12. theyâre all immensely talented and hardworking girls and they have personalities so bright they make the sun look dim. seeing them interact with each other/fans is so heartwarming and rly⊠theyâre all just genuinely sweet, beautiful, and radiant girls. and it goes without saying how theyâve done a lot to show that every fan is welcome, especially with the butterfly mv representing woman of various races/religions/body types/hair types/abilities/etc and even the interview where sooyoung talked about how loona is thankful that their lgbt fans can relate to their mvs and they see no reason to not talk about the presence of their lgbt fans. i love these girls so much.
hfsjkd wow this was long and idk if u were expecting it to be this long but thank you for asking!!

O! RUL8,2? - Re studying
SPOTIFYÂ // APPLEMUSIC
O!RUL8,2? is the second album that BTS was release ever, was the same year of their debut,Â
following the same feeling they had in the first album, in this album we can see the force, power, and ideas they try to tell us in the album debut 2kool 4 skool.
INTRO: O!RUL8,2?
I always had the perception that BTS has the best intros in the music industry, and this is not the exception, I really want to talk about the power in the RM voice in this song, he always projects well his feelings in his songs.Â
The songs basically talk to us about our dreams, about not lose or time thinking so much because someday we not gonna have the opportunity to do our dreams.Â
When he says:Â
My father told me, âenjoy your lifeâ
Iâd like to ask my father, âdid you enjoy your life?â
For me, itâs one of the most powerful lines in the song, and I hate to say hit so close to my heart, itâs actually so common to see parents say things like âfollow your dreamsâ and stuff like this, but if you look at their life, you can see how they donât follow their dreams⊠the majority of the times for fears⊠itâs a little hypocrite for them, but actually life itâs like that always, not everything is white or black, people have fears and usually, they regret all their life for losing the opportunity.Â
N.O
They knew what they were doing at those times releasing this type of song, the scream of fatigue is loud, that pressure of growing we feel when we are in that transition between the High school and the university is⊠and always will be stressful.Â
That what they are saying in this song, ITâS ENOUGH to have these negative feelings over our future.Â
Under the rule of the law of the jungle,
The ones who made us step on even our close friends to climb up â
Who do you think they are what?
The future and university look like a race for the success, where no matter what we should win, for have what the society think its success (you know a big house, a car, and a family) Â but why they make us think the success is the same for everyone, every one has different dreams right?Â
Donât live your life by being trapped in someone elseâs dream
 WE ON
I really donât want to talk here about BTS` struggles, but when we have this type of songs itâs really important at the least know a little bit about the background of BTS, I donât want to overstep a say âoh they felt this wayâ or whatever, but I think you just need to read the lyric to understand a little bit of the feelings here.
For me, WE ON is a powerful song, basically, they are saying âyou can talk all the sht that you want but we gonna continue doing musicâ (I think I resume the song in a line), you can see this in their chorus when they say:Â
Whatever they say, Iâm here for my muzik
Here for my muzik, here for my muzik
Whatever ma haters say, Iâm real for my muzik
Real for my muzik, real for my muzik
Itâs pretty clear what they wanted to say in this song, is really a statement for their life and their career. Itâs crazy to think they wrote this song in their debut year, usually the rookies' groups or singers are calm, but they came with this song in that year really should means something.Â
SKIT: R U HAPPY NOW? â BTS
There is nothing I can really say about this skit⊠they are so cute and so funny, I really love the skit⊠please I want the skit back.Â
IF I RULED THE WORLD
This song is so cool to me, in the song they talk about what they expect or what they gonna go if they get that goal⊠fame⊠be at the top of the world, itâs actually a funny song, I love hearing it every time I play this CD.
They talk about what everybody expects of famous people, girls, money,  a big house, even mention the alcohol, usually, when people talk or think about fame they imagine the same things parties, girls, people loving you, etc⊠I think personally that reality is not as much as that (but of course have some of that too) so, for this the song can have a little of sarcasm in it  (but as always I didn't  write the song so I really donât know)  I think about this for this line:Â
Though I know this doesnât even make sense,
I still sing this naive songÂ
One of my favorite lines of the song is this one:Â
Donât ask me why my dream is so small when Iâm ruling the world
 I, with Bangtan family,
am still, nonetheless, hungry for music
Iâd become the Kim Jong-Un of the hip hop scene
and censor any music other than ours
I know itâs a dream that doesnât make any sense
Itâs my dream, donât make fun of it
I found this lines powerful for some reason, they really were all or nothing for their project and I think thatâs beautiful, the way in all these songs they always say: their music is their priority is amazing, and honestly itâs wonderful to see artist loving and caring about their art that much.Â
The way he mentions a big knowing dictator and basically saying âyall music sucks but oursâ itâs funny and amazing at the same time âŠmaybe he made some points here.Â
 COFFEE
Since I was a baby army, coffee is one of my favorite BTS`s song, maybe itâs not in my top 10 but definitely, itâs in my top 20, this song makes me close my eyes and sing along with the melody, itâs a cute song, a sweet song, with a good lyric, itâs a beautiful love song.Â
This song is so beautiful that I canât explain how beautiful is, they are so intelligent, compare the phases of love relationship/ breakup with THE TASTE OF COFFEE ⊠thatâs amazing⊠this song is so beautiful, one of my favorites lines:Â
Ah, and I donât really drink macchiatos
You know that I made it a habit to drink americanos because of you
I wondered what kind of taste it was when we were dating,
but itâs cold and its aftertaste is bitter,
which makes a bit of sense now that youâre not here girlÂ
I canât put all the song here, but this one and Sugaâs verse is something else, the peak of cutest and beautiful.Â
 CYPHER PT. 1
I really donât know what to say about this song⊠basically, they are talking about those people, and about what they lived, is like a response to those people, but as always I cannot explain or say what I think because 1. I didnât write the lyrics 2. Iâm not the boys.Â
Some of my favorite lines:Â
The third generation leader, so imma lead ya, this is a transition of generations
 WHERE IS THE LIE?Â
 Itâs hope world, from BTS
Everyone follows me, and my possibility gets retweeted
I announce my flow to everyone,
I find so endearing that J hope has referenced hope world since the debut.Â
ì§êČ©ì ë°©í (Attack on Bangtan)Â
BUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF BANGTAN SEONYEONDAN RISES?
The prophecy, the power, the future, the amazing, the incredible, the never seen before of the song, what I can say about this song, they put this song into the universe and the universe said âof course my boysâ all the hard work, all the lyrics, everything worth it.Â
I know I should talk about the lyrics and the sound, but I canât control myself to be in my feelings about this song,.Â
Our reaching the top is a matter of time
The dominos where the first block has been pushed down
The song is powerful, a fun song that talks about what they are, and what they gonna be, they were so confident to put this song in this second album, because they talk about being the best of the best (there is no lie detected), they were so confident to promote this song.
This song looks so funny to present with public, itâs a funny song to watch, and itâs a funny song to listen to.
The moment I go onto the stage
 I feel your cheers
Please stay there forever like that
Because, even if I die like this, there will be no regret
Yes, we⊠I gonna be forever thereâŠÂ
íëê°ì° (Paldogangsan)
Honestly, I canât talk so much about this song, because in my perspective itâs so Korean, and only a fully Korean person can understand this song, even with that I can say how beautiful and cultural this song is.Â
BTS are proud Koreans, and see them being proud Koreans are beautiful⊠all the cultural context this song has is amazing and interesting⊠really a genius song.Â
Outro: Luv in Skool
A perfect way to finish a powerful album. Here we can hear the vocal line doing one of the best things they can do, I can see toward the lyric that they did a little recompilation of some of the album`s songs.Â
A calm song, with a beautiful love lyric, with beautiful voices. Â
