Fuck the Labour Party leadership - takes them months on end to decide that members espousing anti semitic views should be expelled, but Campbell voting Lib Den is beyond the pale.
Hoey can go off about the Brexit Party and Nigel Farage all she likes, but the man who helped Labour win three general electiond and who has been tribally Labour since forever has been expelled.
I'm honestly aghast.
Still, I can't think of a better day for him to be expelled from the party. Goodness, if ever there was a time when a member would be morally vindicated for being chucked out, it's the day that the EHRC announced an investigation into anti semitism in the Labour party - especially after their dismissive response to said announcement.
Alastair Campbell is better than the lot of them, and I've never more felt better about not being a member.
That's all I have to say about that.

A letter in todays Guardian, from Canon David Jennings, takes issue with the current state of the Labour party (in a section thats supposedly about CoE criticism of Boris Johnson, but any opportunity to bash Labour eh?).
He notes how he used to think of his religious work and his political belief in socialism as going hand in hand. Now he despairs at the handling of Brexit and the expulsion of Alastair Campbell.
"It is hard to believe that socialists in the party do not perceive and advocate the benefits of EU membership. One that is rarely mentioned is that no EU country can practise capital punishment. If we leave, does that mean that capital punishment is back on the agenda, and might such be subject to a referendum?"
This is a perfect example of why we should NOT have a second referendum. Hardcore remainers like to say that we were lied to and people didn't know what they were voting for in the referendum. But this is an excellent example of how remainers don't fucking know anything either.
The death penalty is banned by protocols 6 and 13 to the european convention on human rights. Our membership of the EU has NOTHING to do with the echr. Brexit will not affect the UK's ratification of either of these protocols. I have the advantage of having learned about this is my legal education, but all it takes to find this information is a 2 minute google search or a quick read on wiki. Its not hard. If remainers can't seem to do it, how do they expect a second referendum to be any different from the first?

Football news: Bury buyers want more time from EFL to complete takeover
Bury buyers want more time from EFL to complete the takeover of the crisis club and try to prevent the Football League expulsion
Bury has a lifeline in their attempt to evict to avoid the Football League
The data analysis company has agreed to take control of the club
But the EFL insisted that C&N Sporting Risk must close the deal by Tuesday

Bury was given a lifeline to prevent eviction from the Football League on Saturday after a data analysis company agreed in principle to take over the attacked League One club.
But that lifeline can prove to be too short, after the EFL told C&N Sporting Risk to close the deal on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
C&N is run by Henry Newman and Rory Campbell, the son of the former Labor spin doctor Alastair. They asked for a week to complete the discussions with Bury owner Steve Dale. C & N have been negotiating with Dale for 10 weeks.
Bury has been given a lifeline to prevent the elimination of Football League when a sale seems close
On Saturday evening, C&N criticized the EFL's decision to go for such a short extension & # 39; on a public holiday, and said that there were some serious issues to be addressed & # 39 ;. Their legal adviser, they said, will be gone until Wednesday.
& # 39; Meeting with her and the lawyers is absolutely fundamental to some serious contractual matters that need to be addressed and our overall decision-making process.
& # 39; We explicitly made the EFL aware of this and the timeline we needed. & # 39; They added: & # 39; It would be very unfortunate if the club would fold due to lack of time to exercise due care. & # 39;
Bury & # 39; s fans are vocal every week, with a coffin with the text & # 39; RIP Bury FC 1885 & # 39; prominent
Bury North MP James Frith, who worked with potential buyers on the deal, agreed: # The EFL took more than 14 hours to decide this. Why expect the bidding party to achieve more in less than the requested time? & # 39;
There remains concern that C&N does not have the required capital to help Bury move forward. The company has assets of £ 180,000 and debts of £ 334,000.
Bury & # 39; s match against Tranmere on Saturday was the sixth this season canceled. The EFL said it could no longer allow games to be suspended due to the integrity of the competition. and & # 39; the impact on other clubs in the competition & # 39 ;.

Thanks too to those who pointed out difference in speed of action re my expulsion and many other cases especially related to anti-Semitism. Lawyer’s letter sent some days ago to party. Still no substantive reply.

Wild, huh?
The Brexit Party (despite not being a party) is top - to the surprise of precisely no one.
The Lib Dems took Islington North
They got more than the Tories in Maidenhead
And Labour was pushed right to the bottom in Canterbury - the supermarginal taken by the party in 2017.
Labour is being squeezed because of its lack of clarity, and its abominable leadership.
The Brexit Party is the largest beneficiary - but DO remember that the Brexit Party essentially just hovered up UKIP's votes. These results aren't really any different from the 2014 results in that respect.
2014 impacted the Tories only in that it resulted in their second referendum commitment. Perhaps the party will be more careful this time but I doubt it.
Rumblings of a centrist revolt in Labour from Tom Watson. I hope that's the case with all the sincerity I can muster but I doubt it, and even then the entryism of the Aldi's Own Militant Tendency that is Momentum and their acolytes will ensure another Corbyn victory.
Alastair Campbell admitted to voting Lib Dem, so that's an instant expulsion of the sort the leadership have been itching for.
All in All, it's ban a glum night, but I had two arguments on Twitter, both of which ended up with us following each other so that gave me hope.
