If I, as a liberal, didn't speak out against those who would squelch the free speech of conservatives, I wouldn't deserve to call myself a liberal. —Alan Colmes

With the recent deaths of Alan Colmes at age 66 due to Lymphoma and Bill Paxton at age 61 from complications from surgery I can't help but think how both these 2 men have influenced my life in so many way. Alan Colmes through the media and Bill Paxton through acting and I feel we've lost two wonderful men way too soon and weren't expecting such news of their deaths. I didn't know them personally but they both impacted my lives and it makes me wonder about life and realize we just never know the unpredictability of what will happen in our lives. All we know is that we will experience many things in our lives, we will encounter celebrations and we will celebrate great sadness. I know these two men left behind families, friends, fans, coworkers, admirers and the public and they both will be deeply missed. I send my condolences to the families of both Alan Colmes and Bill Paxton. It is very sad to come to realize these two men who at one time were filled with life and determination and love are now gone forever never to be seen again and they will be deeply missed. Rest In Peace Alan Colmes Rest In Peace Bill Paxton. #alancolmes #billpaxton #death #life #restinpeace (at Hollywood)

‘Truly heartbroken’: Sean Hannity honors longtime friend Alan Colmes after death at 66
yahoo
Fox News host Sean Hannity paid tribute to his longtime friend and colleague Alan Colmes Thursday after his sudden death at 66.
According to a statement released by his family, Colmes passed away Thursday morning after a brief illness and leaves behind his wife Jocelyn Elise Crowley.
“He was a great guy, brilliant, hysterical, and moral. He was fiercely loyal, and the only thing he loved more than his work was his life with Jocelyn. He will be missed. The family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time,” the statement reads.
Hannity and Colmes rose to national prominence as co-hosts of the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes,” which ran from 1996 until 2008. They would debate political news and current affairs from a conservative and liberal perspective respectively. It was the precursor to “Hannity,” which has just the single host.
Hannity released a statement saying that Crowley, Colmes’ sister-in-law and former Fox News contributor Monica Crowley, as well as the entire Fox family had lost the “most decent, kind and wonderful people you’d ever want to meet.”

“When Alan and I started Hannity and Colmes, there wasn’t a day that went by where we didn’t’ say we were two most fortunate men in all television,” Hannity said. “Despite major political differences, we forged a deep friendship. Alan, in the midst of great sickness and illness, showed the single greatest amount of courage I’ve ever seen. … I’m truly heartbroken at the loss of a dear friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jocelyn, Monica and his entire family. He will be dearly missed.”
Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” first reported the news of Colmes’ passing Thursday morning with a touching tribute video narrated by his old friend.
Hannity recalled Colmes’ “quick wit and straight-talking style” that endeared him to many Americans and chronicled his journey from stand up comedian to radio host, political pundit and author. He said Colmes “hard-hitting” interview style gained respect on both sides of the aisle.
“Today the Fox News Channel lost a very dear member of our family,” he said. “One of the nicest, kindest, friendliest people and a dear personal friend, our friend Alan Colmes.”
Owing to his relationship with Fox News, Colmes had many conservative colleagues and viewers. Hannity was far from the only person at Fox News who paid tribute to Colmes on social media. Several prominent Fox News journalists, contributors and guests noted how much they respected Colmes despite their political differences.
Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my @foxnews colleague @alancolmes. A very nice, genuine man I had the pleasure to work with.

RIP @AlanColmes. Shock. While is disagreed with him on many things he was a good and decent man. Indeed, all that matters in the end.

OK, this is confusing. When Alan Colmes says that the right wing should “move on,” does that mean that Eva Longoria shouldn’t resign as Obama campaign co-chair, as Colmes himself suggested she should do earlier today?
Does Colmes’ change of heart have something to do with Longoria’s faux “sorry if you were offendedby my attempt to create…

Farewell to a Liberal Who Could Actually Debate the Issues
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
For anyone who tuned into Fox News in the early days, Alan Colmes was the voice of the left on a channel that did not try to hide its conservative biases. Paired with Sean Hannity for the first decade of the network’s rise to cable-news dominance, Colmes played an integral role in solidifying the Fox News brand – even as he disagreed with nearly everything his co-host said. And while we doubt that he won many conservative viewers over with his arguments, he certainly brought the best out of Hannity, forcing him to defend his principles and sharpening him into the political icon he soon became.
With his death on Friday, Colmes was remembered fondly by Hannity and other conservatives who agreed that beneath the liberal views was a man they respected deeply.
“Despite major political differences, we forged a deep friendship,” Hannity said in a statement. “Alan, in the midst of great sickness and illness, showed the single greatest amount of courage I’ve ever seen. And through it all, he showed his incredible wit and humor that was Alan’s signature throughout his entire life. I’m truly heartbroken at the loss of a dear friend.”
Hannity said their divided views never bloomed into personal animosity.
“We had a deep, abiding friendship. It was never personal when we disagreed,” he said. “The world is a little darker place today because a really great human being left us.”
Other conservatives paid their respects on social media.
“So sad to hear of the death of Fox News colleague Alan Colmes,” wrote Brit Hume. “He and I agreed on little, but I liked him immensely. Good guy. RIP.”
Meghan McCain called Colmes a “very nice, genuine man I had the pleasure to work with.”
Greta Van Susteren said, “Alan Colmes was always a gentleman…always kind…a wonderful colleague.”
Even Ann Coulter, a woman not exactly known for lapses into sentimentality, was shocked by the news.
“WHAT? @AlanColmes passed away?????” she wrote on Twitter. “Noooooooooooo! Very sad. He was a good guy. Always surprised people that way.”
Colmes was not shy about defending his liberal views, but he was not the type of liberal that has grown so common in recent years. He was not a raving moonbat. He was not so arrogant in his beliefs that he treated conservatives like sub-human beasts. He wasn’t afraid to step out of his bubble and recognize that intelligent Americans could disagree about politics without descending into hysteria.
While today’s Democrats fight to see who can take the anti-Trump movement to the furthest extremes, perhaps a few of them will instead learn from Colmes’ example, treat their political opponents with respect, and argue their viewpoints from a foundation of fact. They’ll be doing their party – and their country – a tremendous service.

Colmes website, had a tweet released minutes before his death was announced. His family released a statement.
“He was a great guy, brilliant, hysterical, and moral. He was fiercely loyal, and the only thing he loved more than his work was his life with [wife] Jocelyn [Elise Crowley]. He will be missed. The family asks for privacy during this very difficult time.”
Colmes previously took time off due to a unspecified “medical issue” back  just a few weeks ago.
“As I previously mentioned on the show last year, there would be times I would be taking off from the show to deal with a medical issue. This is why I’ve been out recently and will be out this week as well. But I will be back taking your calls as soon as I can,” he wrote on Fox Radio.
He is survived by his wife Jocelyn Crowley.
