Cantó y compuso “I Love Rock ´N´Roll”, unos de los últimos y verdaderos himnos del rock and roll clásico (probablemente el último grande posterior haya sido “Who Will Save Rock and Roll” de los Dictators) y protagonizó una carrera musical de lo más ajetreada y curiosa entre Nueva York, Londres y Japón.

Just when I thought I’d seem all of them, these photos just showed up today. Back at the dawn of glam rock in Tokyo 1970 and ‘71 I was the glam styled poster boy for Nissan cars in Japan. The Nissan Sunny Excellent 1200 and 1400 models. There was a series of TV commercials featuring me as well, which I’m sure will turn up on Youtube sooner or later. Hopefully in my lifetime.
Back then I tried very hard to get my various record companies (Atlantic and Columbia) to record my original glam rock songs in 1971 but that effort was met with great resistance.
However, this glam rock “look” helped set up my band Vodka Collins a couple of years later, so when we started we were a step or two ahead of the pack, with me as front man, songwriter lead singer / lead guitarist. EMI records Japan was by then open to the idea of recording my glam rock songs like “Automatic Pilot” and “Sands Of Time” in Japanese using the name Vodka Collins as a band. They did record those songs of mine and others and the resulting album “Tokyo New York” (released 1973) is still popular in Japan in 2019.
