Okay— we have Owlthena, we have Horseidon, but what about doggo Ares? Well—

Here he is!! Doggo Ares!! I tried to draw him as a wolfdog, but that it didn't fit with how I imagine Ares

So— he is an alabai (aka Central Asian Shepherd Dog)!! It's a very large shepherds dogs with a very bad reputation, but in fact they are a smart and good doggos!!

At least that's what my dad said. He had a female Alabai dog, Thetis. She passed away before I was born, but my dad and my sister said she was the best girl in the world. I believe them!!

I love standard poodles and labradors!

Apart from sighthounds (and I don't own any of these photos, just showing them for demonstration purposes)

I've always had a soft spot for Dobermans!

They often make me sort of sad though. To my understanding they have a lot of severe hereditary illnesses, and they're a type of breed that tends to attract bad owners. I also can't in good conscience support cropping and docking, even though I agree that they contribute to the iconic look of the breed.

Sled dogs are cool, Greenland dogs/Canadian inuit dogs/Qimmit/Qimmiq in particular.

I like hairless dogs a lot, they're very charming.

A lot of livestock guardian breeds have very pleasing shapes, even though they're not the type of dog I'd ever get myself. This one's a Central Asian Ovtcharka/Alabai/Tobet.

And this is a Kangal.

Yakutian laikas have the most intense markings.

Huskies are fun for the same reason, especially when they have particularly striking and unusual faces.

And I think lop eared scenthounds are endearing, but to be perfectly honest there's a lot of visually similar breeds and I can't tell them apart all that well. These are Poitevin hounds, they have long slender faces and this sort of smoky eye look going on.

But dogs are just neat in general, I'm not very particular about breeds.

sakura ogami: central asian shepherd dog, or alabai. CASDs are quiet, stoic, and even-tempered, and have been bred for around 4000 years to protect land, people, and livestock. throughout history, they’ve lived almost exclusively outdoors in rough terrain and harsh climates, with their breed characteristics stemming more from natural selection than human intervention. working ability and fearlessness are the most desirable traits in these dogs, both of which sakura has in spades. they’re known for their intensely protective instincts, rushing into combat against any perceived threat to their charges without hesitation, but they balance that iron will with keen intelligence, gentleness with their families and livestock, and patience. also, traditionally, these dogs’ ears are cropped and their tails docked as preventative measures against injury while fighting off large predators. i headcanon that it would be like a rite of passage in the ogami clan, done to prevent injury to tails and ears during sparring and training.

nekomaru nidai: rottweiler. rotts are well-known for their strength and their intimidation factor, with the one of the highest bite forces of any dog breed, and a loud, deep bark. they’re solid muscle, but even when they’re friendly, they can come on extremely strong! i work with dogs, and even though i’ve never had a negative experience with a rottweiler myself, i still duck for cover when they come barreling over to say hi, rumbling and growling the entire way. nekomaru is loud and boisterous, which isn’t a common trait among guardian breeds, who tend to be discerning and aloof, on the whole. but rottweilers are honestly just…bros. they’re pushy and full of willpower, with huge hearts to match. they’re all bros. nekomaru is a bro.

gonta gokuhara: leonberger. leos are another breed that, despite their role as guardians, tend to have less of the iron-jawed disposition of many other working breeds. they’re sturdy, fluffy, and enormous…and some of the most laid-back dogs you’ll ever meet. they’re sweet and excitable, and are equal parts companion dog and guardian dog. gonta needed to be something big and fluffy (obviously), but without the aggressive nature of dogs bred to work independently and kill threats on sight. leos are the epitome of gentle giants, but they still have protective instincts. just not at the expense of their friendliness!

Love to imagine, that if MC had dog breeds, than Gabriel would have two if them: big ass alabai and lil golden corgi.

So everytime someone's comes to visit old man, first thing they see is that alabai running towards them and crushing them to the floor, wagging it's tail, meanwhile second thing they see is corgi licking their face. And third thing is Gabriel looking very sorry trying to pick up alabai.

Alabai names is probably Fluffy, meanwhile corgi is Lucky.
