still CAN'T believe akutagawa followed up "what matters are actions, not words" by saving atsushi despite all the times he said he would kill him

Atsushi: I'll kill him.

Akutagawa:... But I thought you were against killing, that's why you told me not too.

Atsushi: I want you to learn the value of life. To know you're more than just a killer. And that there are times when killing isn't necessary to solve a problem. But this, much like with Shibusawa isn't one of them.

Akutagawa: I see, but are you sure? Shibusawa was a matter of circumstance but this, I can still do it.

Atsushi: Akutugawa, you trusted me with your word. The least I can do is honour it.

Akutagawa: You picked quite the time to be chivalrous Jinko.

Atsushi: chuckles I try. And besides cruel smirk this man tore the Agency apart and almost killed Ranpo.... I'm gonna enjoy this.

But listen listen Violet I NEED you to know about the context of this illustration it's absolutely priceless. I initially wrote it in the tags but it predictability got too long so sit down while I offer you (and any passerby) tea and biscuits and talk about sskk while laughing my head off because I just love them so much and they're ridiculous

So Atsushi was after this object, this destructive weapon that in a matter of minutes would have swiped the whole Yokohama away. You have to understand 55 Minutes is set on a ship‚ or a floating town; Atsushi was currently on one of the bottom floors underground of it, several meters underwater‚ looking for the weapon in a computer room with big aquarium-like windows that looked directly to the depths of the ocean. AND. AND OF COURSE. AND OF COURSE AKUTAGAWA HAD TO DROP HIMSELF TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN. LIKE IT'S JUST SO ABSURD HE DID THAT HE 1) definitely isn't physically strong enough to swim that deep 2) is canonly thin and underweight which would make sinking even harder?? 3) dude has a literal lungs disease there's no way he could hold his breath that long. Yet he just DROPPED himself to the bottom of the ocean (for Atsushi... ) and BROKE THROUGH what must have been some of the thickest glass on earth, just to go after Atsushi. Which. If you ask me. Is something. And I didn't even mention the part where he was still falling down‚ locked eyes with Atsushi still inside and mouthed the words “I found you”. So Akutagawa basically had this entire ship-island almost sink just because he had to run after Atsushi and he was extra?? And because in that moment he believed Atsushi was a terrorist that had to be stopped because Akutagawa has two brain cells. But seriously just. The image of Akutagawa going after Atsushi and talking and talking and talking and smiling and talking, while Atsushi is just trying to run away from him struggling to make his way through running water and thinking “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS DUDE” is just priceless. And WHEN ATSUSHI SAID “DO YOU HATE ME THAT MUCH” AND AKUTAGAWA REPLIED “IT'S NOT HATE” HELLO???????????? And when Atsushi tried to pull the “Dazai is here too” card and Akutagawa replied “Cool then I'll kill you for him too” alsbdksjdjlsbdksbsk. Anyways sskk is seriously the only 55 Minutes redeeming quality. Further on there's even a scene where Akutagawa was in a position to kill Atsushi‚ didn't do so‚ looked at him with sorrow in his eyes (???)‚ freed him from the restrained condition the enemy had put him in and told him “Good. Now hurry. Do not waste my time‚ Jinko.” freeing Atsushi while HE HIMSELF was still at the enemy's mercy????????? Okay I'm perfectly normal about this
