The Jagged Yard was a short walk from her apartment. Lena often had after work drinks and night caps there. She found a seat at the bar, where she liked to sit when she came out alone, and ordered a cocktail. There were a couple dozen unread messages on her phone that she, painstakingly, was sorting through. It’s what she got for drunk messaging her tinder matches. “I’m convinced there’s actually no one decent on dating apps now.” She spoke aloud to no one in particular. “Like, no how are you? Just straight to the dick pics..”

As of late, her collection was lacking. Granted, she couldn’t remember the last time she’d sat down and actually put something on rotation. “So, how long have you been working here? It seems like you know your stuff,” she complimented as she placed yet another classic into her basket. As far as she was concerned, she had time and purchases to make up for. “I’m ashamed that it’s taken me this long to get down here. I’ve been using this group on Facebook that a guy recommended me. Basically people trade out old records amongst one another. It’s been fun, but I wanted to add more permanent selections.” She liked the constant switching, but there were records she wanted to selfishly to keep to herself. “Feel free to throw any suggestions my way. I’m always open to trying something new.”

Sel and Naomi had a bit of a complicated relationship; the two didn’t quite mash together as kids, and growing up side by side the comparisons weren’t late to come. Her parents would always ask why couldn’t be more like Aksel, be as pretty, as talented, or as good of a student, which admittedly made her a bit envious and resentful. However, when both of their families found themselves as the hottest gossip topic in town for the wrong reasons, they eventually comforted each other, knowing how the other was feeling. Now they were adults and pretty occupied with their own lives, but Naomi is stubborn when it comes to maintaining friendships and asked her friend out for some coffee. As she saw Sel walking inside she waved at her and stood up to greet her with a hug, “I think it’s a crime that we live in the same town and only see each other like three times a year, honestly.” She laughed, “How you’ve been?”

Going through the long list of smoothies in the catalog, Ingrid wasn’t quite sure which one to go for. She knew what her sister usually liked, so that wasn’t going to be an issue but considering she wasn’t big on smoothies, she was left staring confused. “Which one would you recommend?” Ingrid questioned, turning to the person closer to her, wondering if they could help her out by giving a nice recommendation. “Vanilla is the safest option, but it seemed stupid of me to go for something as simple.”

When Tyler had shifted her emergency contact at the gym to Aksel’s number all the months ago when things between them had been good, it had felt like the right decision at the time. Now that she was sitting in the hospital room knowing that Aksel had been the one called to come collect her, Tyler regretted the dumb wave of emotions that had convinced her it was a good idea. A bad knock to the head at practice had led to a wave of nausea and blurry vision, which her coach had called in right away. With Ty’s past history of concussions it wasn’t something that he played around with. Her emergency contact had been called and she’d been whisked away to the hospital for evaluation before she had a chance to protest. After they’d run all their tests, Ty was confirmed with another mild concussion and given instructions not to leave until her emergency contact was there to drive her home. Ty assumed, wrongly, that it was Emmy and was sitting out front of the hospital for Emmy to come rolling in. When, instead, it was Aksel’s car she saw pulling up, the realization that her ex was still on her emergency contact form hit her in the gut. “I didn’t...tell them to call, I can walk home,” she mumbled over at the car, waving her off weakly. She didn’t want to walk home, really didn’t have the energy to with the headache she had pounding.

Milo took one last puff of his cigarette before flicking the butt free from his grasp. He ignored the sour looks from a group of older woman that clearly had a disdain towards the way he disposed his cigarette. The former drug dealer flashed them a cheeky smirk instead, adding a flirtatious wink to go along with it. Milo chuckled softly as they scurried off with annoyed looks on their faces. “You still got it, Hughes,” he quipped to himself, returning to his stroll along the sidewalks of the downtown area. He made his way over to Aksel’s setup for the Vinyl Countdown. A cocky smile reached his lips as he thought about the last time they hung out. She had joined him to come look at an open house out in Summit Lake. It didn’t take long them to fall back into their old ways. They disappeared upstairs and started fooling around in the master bedroom of the open house. If not for the realtor nearly busting in on them, chances were they would have hooked up that day. Milo wasn’t too disappointed. He had a feeling they would have a chance to be alone again. Spotting his former fling outside, Milo strolled up beside her with a playful grin on his lips. “Hey there, hot stuff. How’s business?”

Thierry had stopped into Vinyl Countdown a handful of times since living in Providence Peak. He liked the experience of actually going into a store and finding an album to add to his collection. The cop was fully aware he could find them all on Amazon or simply download the music from Spotify. He was simply old school, and perhaps a bit stuck in his ways. Thierry glanced up as the young woman who owned of the store, Aksel, asked if he needed any help finding something. “I was actually trying to find Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book album. Wouldn’t happen to know where it’s hiding, do you?”

“I know you’re judging me. And I know you’re aware of how extremely rude it is. However... There needs to be some real music playing in here and also at the Vinyl Countdown and the fact that a record hasn’t been released yet featuring these songs is blasphemous. Imagine hearing this on a record?” Aksel should know by now what the brunette was about to do. Hell, she half expected the other Turk to have some ear plugs on hand and ready to drown out the song that was about to play. As Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira (Medieval/Bardcore style) began to play through her phone, Asli’s lips grew into a Cheshire grin. How the other put up with her and her constantly playing the Medieval covers of popular songs, she wasn’t sure. Yet she was entirely grateful that she did. “Come on, you have to admit that this would sound good on a record! If that dream ever becomes a reality and is sold at your place, do you promise to let me know right away? Because I definitely want to give it as a gift to Ray.” The poor man... He has learned to accept her taste in music. He has bore witness to her whenever she was in a grading funk and needed a break just lying on the floor, staring up at the ceiling, the covers playing at full blast and her attempting to sing along---however, singing the lyrics in the old timey fashion as well. How the man fell in love with her after witnessing all of that, she wasn’t sure. But perhaps that means that he truly is her soulmate through and through.

CHARACTER INFORMATION:
Character Name: Aksel Polat.
Type of Connection: Older Brother.
Connection Name: UTP (must be Turkish) Polat.
Connection Age: 33+.
Suggested FCs: Serkay Tütüncü, Aras Bulut İynemli, Cihangir Ceyhan, UTP.
CONNECTION DESCRIPTION:
The Polat family was wealthy beyond imagination and had everything they could ever want. However, Alp Polat - their father, was involved in illegal tradings and dealings. Think mafia-esque white-collar crimes. However, roughly fifteen years ago, the FBI got wise to what he was doing and offered him a deal to roll over, and when he didn't roll on his associates, he was made an example of and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The family assets were all seized except for money that Alp had in foreign banks and his wife knew nothing about and couldn't access anyway. So Beyza Polat moved herself and their six kids out to Bighorn Hills, where life did a complete 180. Nothing was ever the same. Lots of family tension and struggles, and Beyza wasn't the most present mother and spent a lot of time drinking her problems away. A lot of the responsibility was on the older children, and Aksel specifically got a job at the Vinyl countdown that she now owns. However, your muse, for whatever reason, four years into this new life, bailed, and Aksel hasn't heard from him since. What he's done and is doing now is totally up to you. Is he picking up the family mantle again? Did he go straight and settle down? Did he somehow find a way to access the money the government couldn't seize? It's all up to you.
Do you need to be contacted before someone applies? Yes.

“This hangover is slowly killing me,” Dramatic as she was, Ela was genuinely dealing with the worst hangover anybody could imagine. After a whole week of drinking and having fun at the Spring Extravaganza, the alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, and unhealthy eating was catching up to her. Thankfully, a large cup of coffee and Aksel sitting across the way made the bartender feel a smidge better. “How are you doing? Are you slowly slipping into madness too, or is that just me?”

Two coffees were clutched tightly in her hand, stepping away from the coffee cart as she turned back toward the rest of the festival, already crawling with an unsavory amount of people at an even more unsavory time of day. She had just checked up on the restaurant, made sure the staff on for the day had open and prepped correctly, before she went in search of coffee - an extra coffee with the intent to deliver it to Tyler’s Summit Lake home in hopes that the other would talk to her about what had happened the night at the hotel. Instead, Emmy stopped short of the festival, recognizing a face in the line at the coffee cart. “Aksel?” Her brow furrowed in question as she glanced at the woman who was both the sister of one of her favorite employees and the ex of her best friend. “I’m surprised we haven’t run into each other sooner. I just left from checking up on your brother at the restaurant... he’s a menace.” A soft chuckle fell from her lips with a shake of her head. “I’m just kidding, he’s actually one of my favorites, just don’t go telling the others.”

When he’d gotten the call about Aksel needing help, he hadn’t hesitated to grab his jacket and keys. He’d told Kenny that he’d be back and after a short rundown of what was happening, he was off. The drive wasn’t half bad and he kept the window cracked to offer a cool breeze while he blasted the heat. It wasn’t long before her car came into view and he pulled in behind her. “If you wanted to see me so bad, you could have just asked me to come by the record shop. Didn’t have to sabotage your car,” he joked, walking up to her with his hands shoved in his pockets. “What happened? If you wanna pop the hood, I could take a look. Might be something we can get fixed. If not, I can give you a lift. I know a guy with a truck who could cut you a deal on a tow to your place.”

@atlaswilliams
THE MILLER-GARCIA VOW RENEWAL/reception
Aksel had learned a long time ago that she could find Atlas Williams in any crowded room, mostly because he was always bound to be the tallest person there and maybe in part due to all the things she often left unsaid, and for a good reason. A reason she was reminded of when she spotted a man she'd just been out with on a date with the mother of his child. For months four words from the mouth of Kennedy had been a dull echo ever present, sometimes amplified, you don't stand a chance. She had meant in terms of Atlas, but it somehow continued to ring true in all facets of her life. Aksel Polat simply could not measure up. Not with Ever or Tyler, not with her parents, it seemed, not with anyone. Everyone had a person, and maybe it was the emotion of a wedding making her feel lonely and sorry for herself, or maybe it was realizing she'd done it again, tangled herself, no matter how briefly, with another emotionally unavailable person. Drowning her pity with a glass of white wine, Aksel found Atlas, pulling a chair close to sit beside him. Her eyes were still on the pair when she sat down with a humorless laugh. With a shake of her head she turned her attention to Atlas, an easy smile falling into place. Her body angled towards him as she sat down her wine and adjusted his tie. He looked quite handsome. "You look ridiculous, Wolfie." She teased the smile present in her voice even if it didn't quite reach her eyes. Then, smoothing the fabric straight, "That's a little better." She claimed as she sat back, looking around the venue with a pang spreading through her chest she wanted this one day, maybe not a wedding, but the endless love sounded nice. Still, Aksel found it hard to shake the echo of words, you don't stand a chance. Blinking hard, she exhaled and turned her attention back to Atlas, opening her mouth to complain, when her eyes fell to his hand and saw a bruise clearly from teeth. Eyes blown wide, Aksel grabs his hand, "What the fuck happened to you?" She whispered, turning over his hand to inspect it more closely, "Good or bad?" she asked as an afterthought
