Writing A Day: Day 26 (Late Late)

I remembered about some other old r/wbabies ocs, this being Akiko (youngest daughter and child of Blake and Yang) and Torte (youngest son and child of Velvet and Coco). Might one day remake them into OG stuff cause I love these two idiots together also. Prompt is A and B explore a haunted area

“Remind me again why the hell we are here?” Akiko asks. Her cat ear flicks at the sound of a noise. She snaps around, seeing nothing but stays on guard. 

“To see if we can find any ghost, duh!” Torte replies, sticking tongue out at his girlfriend. “This place is supposed to be really haunted! Loads of people see ghost here.”

“If I die, I am going to come back as a ghost and haunt you!”

“Relax. Look. Once we are done exploring, I’ll take you out for a nice breakfast. Anywhere you want. How does that sound?”

“Deal.”

Name Meaning(s): Akiko is Japanese for autumn child. Akio was born in the fall.

Age: Akiko is about 7 years old.

Looks: Akiko has blonde and black hair, yellow, black, and some white cat ears and (fluffy) cat tail, her right eye is lilac and her left is amber, and she has light skin. Akiko is the shortest of the rwbabies in canon, despite being 7. She is about 3’2” give or take. However, she does grow to 5’6”.

Family: Akiko is the youngest child and daughter of Blake and Yang. She has three older sisters. Lian and Yue, who are four years older, and Heather, who is one year older. She is close to Yue. Akiko has two older cousins from her Aunt Ruby and Uncle Jaune, Garnet and Clover. She also has a younger cousin from them, Azure. Her grandparents are Taiyang and *Raven Branwen (with Summer being her honorary one) and a Great Uncle, Qrow, who her and the others call Grunkle or Drunkle Qrow.

Small Bio: Akiko was a surprised to both Blake and Yang, they were not excepting another child (or one so close). But they happily welcome their little surprise and love her like all their other children. Growing up, she was picked on for her short height. She always did her best to prove them wrong. She looks up to all her sister and wanting to be like them. As she gets older, Akiko spends more time training and working out to make herself stronger.

When she was about 12 years old a lot happened to her at once. Heather going missing and Lian losing her memory from a failed mission and Yue going away for a year with their Great Uncle Qrow. This is where she really started to work out and try to become stronger. Her mothers spend a lot of time with her to support her and keep her cheery.

Semblance: Transformation. Akiko can change what she looks like and later on, can turn into a calico cat.

Personality: Akiko is a happy-go-lucky child. She is all about justice and wanting to bring peace to the world. She doesn’t let anything stop her and is determined to go far in life. Like her sisters, she has a stubborn streak. Out of the four sisters, she does have the most of her Mama’s Yang temper. She also can be impatient.

Akiko is the jokester of the family. She loves making a joke or a pun, which annoys others. While she is up for anything, she always makes sure to have a plan for whatever she does. Akiko is quite mature for her age and will step up to the plate when needed.

Romo/Sexuality and Gender: Akiko is biromo, asexual, and polyamours. She later on dates Torte Adel and Aster Zecloris. Their ship name is Strawberry Shortcake.

Other facts:

-Holds her tail when scared or nervous.

-She is the only sister not to need glasses. She sometimes wears fake ones for the hell of it.

-Loves mythology.

-The first time she turned into a cat it was at random (she scared Yang because all of a sudden there are two calico cats and she quickly realized it was her daughter) and it took her nearly a day to go back. After that *Raven (yes Raven) and Qrow helped her control it.

-Doesn’t like water that much because then her tail becomes heavy which is annoying.

*Please note two things. 1) Yes Raven is a part of the family again in this au. I had Raven added to my Au after v2 and before we learned more about her in v4 so during that time we could pretty much think of anything for her. My idea, which still needs working on, for this au is she left because if she stayed the ones she loved would be harmed. I know this isnt the Raven we know but again, she was here before we learned that.

2) Kali and Ghria also are not around. While I do not mind them as characters, they also ruin the idea I had for Blake. Her not having a family and wanting a big and close one because she never had one. So they are not around, the do not exist in this AU.

More Bumblebabies snippet

(ive been in a huge rwbabies mood, especially with the kidtens, and I was a little down so I did this. Doodle gave me the idea of some Yang and Akiko bonding. This is a bit pre-rwbabies canon but whatever, there is no real set canon other then ages. A little long but i don’t think it needs and under the cut, unless you guys want it)

Yang whistles a tune to herself as she folds the laundry and places it into the basket. One by one, she grabs shirts, pants, and other sets of clothing out of the drier and makes squares out of them to be stacked up. Once everything is out and all set and ready to be put away, Yang shuts the dryer door with her foot as she lifts up the basket before heading upstairs.

As Yang walks down the hall to get to her room, she suddenly pauses. A noise stops her and confuses her even. Her wife, Blake, is currently at work until later this afternoon. Her two older children are at school while her four year old is at pre-k. The only other living being, besides the family cat, is her youngest daughter. Peaking her head around the open doorframe she finds the three year old in the middle of the living room.

Akiko has managed to find one of Yang’s old martial arts videos that she and her father would watch growing up. Where the young girl found them, Yang has no clue. The video has not age well, the corniness is very visible from now stupid looking clothes to the main person trying to act as hip and young as they can while they look like they are Yang’s age now. She wonders if Akiko knows any of the jokes or references that woman is making. The joke more than likely fly over her head but Yang can’t help but snicker at them and at her young child.

The calico girl has her lilac and amber eyes stay lock at the staticy (the static coming from the nearly three decade old tape) screen as she watches the woman’s every move and her multi-colored ears stand at attention as she takes in all of her words. The video looks like it is only a few minutes in but all of Akiko’s focus is on it.

Yang gently sets the basket down while still watching her daughter. She stifles a laugh with her hand when she sees Akiko throwing weak and uncoordinated punches in front of her. The young child even adds in a few noises as she throws the punches. Yang is finding it harder and harder to keep quiet. Her daughter’s cuteness is overwhelming.

Akiko continues on coping the woman. As the video goes the moves at a little harder but the girl doesn’t care. She still does her best to copy what she sees. However, after she throws a kick her tail, which sometimes she still cannot quite control, comes under her just as her foot is being brought back to the ground. Akiko ends up stepping on it. She yelps and falls to the ground on her back. Yang does not hesitate to run over to her.

“Are you okay, Aki?” Yang asks. She gathers her daughter in her arms and lifts her up. Akiko is still lost in a daze. It takes a moment for her to snap out of it, blinking it away.

“I’m okay, Mama. Were…Were you watching me? You came really fast.”

“I was. Sorry sweetie but you looked so cute watching that video. Where did you even find it? I haven’t seen that in ages.”

“Hezzy and I were looking at some boxes last night and we found it! Both of us were gonna to watch it together but course she went to school and I was really curious about it. You use to watch it?”

“All the time with Pop-Pop. We’d watch it when I was little. Then Qrow and I would…” Yang trails off for a moment before coming back to Akiko. “I am guessing that you like it?”

Akiko nods and her eyes become bright. “Do you want to do it with me? Like how you and Pop-Pop and Grunkle Qrow would?”

“Sure! I’d love to, Aki-Belle. But first,” Yang digs into her pocket and pulls out an orange hair tie. She sets Akiko down on the ground and quickly pulls her daughter’s gold and black hair back into a ponytail. “Gotta keep your hair out of your face.”

Yang digs out another hair tie and puts her own golden hair in a ponytail. She then hits the rewind button to right before the scene were Akiko fell. Both mother and daughter stand side by side with each other and begin to copy what goes on in the video.

Blake pushes open the front door to her home. One of her seven year old daughters, Yue, pushes past her, throwing her silver bag on the ground, before heading up the stairs into her room. Yue’s twin sister, Lian, strolls in behind Blake. She holds the hand of her younger sister, Heather. The other girl is eager to go play some more but patiently waits as Lian helps her get her coat and boots off.

“I’ll be right back. Li, make sure you tell Yue that in an hour she has to do her homework,” Blake says before walking off. She is a little worried at the moment. She had tried to call her wife to tell her she was coming home, as she always does, but Yang failed to answer both the house phone and her scroll a number of times. Part of Blake tells her everything is fine but she cannot ignore her worried half for her wife and youngest child.

Suddenly, Blake, who is not paying close attention to where she is going, feels something hit her legs. The ground comes up at her and she lands with a small thud on the ground.

“Are you okay, Mommy?” Heather shouts from down the hall.

“I’m fine! I just tripped over,” Blake looks to see what is there. “The laundry basket?”

She is confused. Why would this be sitting in the middle of the hall? Turning her head, Blake looks into the living room. She can see the top of the TV peering over the couch and can the black and white static of a tape that has long since stopped playing. Blake gets to her feet and walking over towards the couch. What she finds causes her to smile.

Yang and Akiko are cuddled up against each other, both fast asleep. Blake also notices some old, martial arts video boxes lying on the ground. The two must have dug up a bunch of them. Now they are both passed out. Akiko is even drooling a little bit as she stays nestled in her mother’s arms. Blake gives each of them a kiss on the forehead (and wipes away the drool on Akiko’s face) before placing a blanket over their bodies.

“Sweet dreams you two.”

Akiko strolls into her dorm, covered in sweat. After a longday at the gym, all she wants to do is take a shower and then lay down on herbed to take a nap. She is surprised to notice that her girlfriend and boyfriendare in the dorm also. It is not that surprised with Torte, being her teammate,though Aster lives elsewhere. Not that she isn’t happy to see them, however.

“Hey, Aki!” Torte says, waving a little. He is sitting onhis bed (actually more like hanging off of it). Aster, who does sit on the endof the bed, looks up from her book.

“How was your work out?” She asks.

“It was good.” Akiko throws her bag on her bed. She turnsaround and grins. “You two want a hug?”

“Ew, no,” Aster answers, sticking out her tongue. Tortesnaps up and shakes his head. He is not interested either. Akiko rolls her eyesand starts to walk over towards the bathroom.

“You guys are no fun.”

oh yeah slight change in rwbabies stuff with teams (cause why not)

so instead of Akiko going at 18, Torte and crystal going at 17 and Azure at 16, they all are down an age. So Akiko goes at 17, Tor and Crystal go at 16, and Azure goes at 15 (im still working how those three got in early but fuckin Azure being like her mom and getting in two years early and being a leader pft. That’s wasn’t planned it just so happened to be but pft im going to have fun with this)

Now I'm just thinking how small Akiko is. I think I put down she is like 3'4" at her canon age cause when I first made her she was 5 then I bumped up her age twice. Mean while Azure at 5 is like 3'6" and then you got Yuki who is also 5 taller than her (how tall idk I haven't done his canon age height yet) and then Torte and Crystal who are six are all taller than her. No one knows why she is so small. She just is. But she stays smaller than her friends and cousin for a bit before finally hitting a growth spurt and ending up 5'6" and is taller than her friends and cousin. For a bit. Fuck Azure gets some of Jaune's genes and ends up 5'10" and Torte is 6'2". Azure being taller than her pisses her off but she teases the fuck out of not only Crystal, even though she ends up a inch smaller than her, but her other cousin Clover who is a year older and ends up 5'2" and it pisses her off (and Akiko's older sister Yue who ends up 5'4") Aki is just a troll pretty much. Meanwhile Yuki doesn't really care (his final height will be taller than Clover but smaller than Akiko. Small boy)

Because I got bored and was thinking of this post from last nigh. So yeah, what Heather would come up with for code names for herself and the rest of the kids. They are at their older canon age (which i'll explain later)

Lian(18): 'Grumpy Cat' (because she can be a grumpy cat)

Heather(15): 'Fire Hazard' (because of her semblance)

Akiko(13): 'Transformer' (because of her semblance)

Garnet(19): 'Littlefeet' (because a-doodle-production and I agree that Garnet have small feet)

Clover(15): 'Pipsqueak' (since she is the shortest of all the kids)

Azure(12): 'Baby Bird' (since she is the youngest of all the kids)

Coal(19): 'Smarty pants' (Since Coal is really smart)

Copper(16): 'Bambi' (since he is a deer faunus)

Crystal(13): 'Ice Princess' (because of her semblance)

Melina (20): 'Mama Monkey' (since she is the oldest out of the kids)

Antares(15): 'Wet Noddle' (his nickname because he grows to be tall and lean)

Where Garnet and Lian bicker a lot, Clover and Heather are the best of friends, Akiko is like another older sister to Azure. They are just over a year apart but Azure follows Akiko’s lead a lot. A lot of times because Zury is so shy and Akiko isn’t But what I am thinking is later when they are on a team together, Asure had some doubts about being a huntress and Akiko is there to slap her little cousin (who is taller than her) upside the head to snap some sense in her.

As I wait for my roommate to get off the phone and turn the tv off

Kids and what they do when they first learn about their semblance and how their parents react.

Lian. Invisibility. She turns invisible when she tries to hid from Yang or Blake or doing something (like pushing one of her sisters or some stupid little kid thing). Yang and Blake listen extra careful for her and set traps out for her to step on so they can find footprints (like they set flour or something out that is hidden somehow. Idk)

Heather. Fire. Yang and Blake keep an fire extinguisher around since she will sometimes be like jack-jack.

Akiko. Transformation. First time she changes her hair/ears/tail/eyes/skin (one or more or all of those) they take a moment to realize it is their child and not some random one. They then always have to remind themselves it is Akiko when she first keeps at it.

Garnet. Protection. Like Lian he uses it when he would get in trouble for stupid little kid things. So he just make a shield around him so Jaune and Ruby can't get to him. But both know the shield can't last for ever so they just wait.

Clover. Sound manipulation. The family buys earplugs till she learn how to control her semblance.

Azure. Far sight. Not much you can do to stop a kid for seeing far away. They just tell her not to abuse it (I guess)

Coal. Control over electronics. Weiss and Neptune already new of his semblance when they adopted and he already had some sort of control over it (I can see smart four year old coal having some control over his new found semblance)

Copper. Strength. Neptune and Weiss wondered at first why there would be random holes or broken things till they realize Copper's semblance (still working out details). They just do whatever to keep him from breaking things.

Crystal. Ice. Had to get Heather to thaw whoever she froze.

Melina. Healing. No real issue with Healing unless you count Pyrrha and Sun wondering how after fights or something them wondering how their daughter is not hurt.

Antares. Electricity. He first blew the power out at his house. Had it wear rubber gloves for a bit. (Andy's semblance might be the most unstable. A lot of things are electric and his semblance is electricity. How knows what can happen)

Mocha. Clones. Velvet and Coco spent the better half of their day trying to find out which Mocha was the real Mocha.

Auburn. Super jump. One of his mother's had to get him off the roof of the house since he ended up jumping and landing on it.

Sienna. Disorientation. Both Vel and Coco for a bit of a headache from having seen their daughter look like a moving blur a bit (working on hers a bit too)

Torte. Control over rocks/minerals. Not allow rocks for a good time. (I changed his up because reasons. I'll explain more later.)

Ming. Energy pulse. Accidentally blows part of the house up with an energy blast.

Aros. Teleportation. Nora and Ren look everywhere for him till they find him in some random place.

Carmine. Endurance. Scarlet and Sage just wonder how their daughter can keep going no matter what.

I'll go more into depth with their semblance when I figure out more things about them.

A little idea for older mooncake (Akiko and Torte) is that Torte is having a little bit of trouble finding binders (since he is trans and this is before he gets top removal) so Akiko uses her semblance to look like him and she has him use her as a dummy to figure out what binder(s) would be right for him. But then for the rest of the day the two are little shits because Akiko can't turn back to herself with the same amount of aura she used to change. So the two just walk around together to confuse others as to who is torte and who is Akiko

Stupid kid OCs thing (since my roommate is keeping me up). Akiko has sharp little teeth like a cat's. So when she starts teething Yang and Blake kind of found it cute like their other daughters. Till they found out she could break skin if she tried hard enough. But yeah. Akiko with little cat like canines yes.
