Akihabara

Our first day in Tokyo, we got an hour to explore the lively streets of Akihabara. Akihabara is a major hub in Japan for electronics and commerce, and is every video game and anime lover's dream! All sorts of shops and tall buildings  line the streets - restaurants, arcades, video game stores, themed cafes, collectible and souvenir shops, you name it!

It would take days to thoroughly explore everything Akihabara has to offer. In one hour, some friends and I walked up and down a major street, played in one of the multi-layered SEGA arcades (a dream of mine, as a huge SEGA fan), and got ourselves some yummy taiyaki treats from a taiyaki vendor.

Our time in Akihabara (aka “Akiba”) was a great contrast to some of the history we learned about and experienced in Tokyo. Our time there was very inspiring, not to mention super fun too! Look out for my pictures of Akiba on this blog!
