Recently the Qualifiers Round for the Niji MariKart Tournament just passed and along with it means next week will consist of the Main Tournament itself. While there were some mishaps like Akira losing his connection during the tournament, please remember that this is all for fun.

A Review: Sugar Apple Fairy Tale Vol. 1

Plot

Anne Halford is a sweet, caring fifteen-year-old with one goal: To win the Royal Candy Fair so she can become a Silver Sugar Master. If she does that, her mom’s soul (who’s recently died) will surely move on peacefully. There’s just one problem, in order to make it to the Royal Candy Fair she’ll have to travel the bloody highway filled with bandits, murderous crows, and wolves. 

She decides to get a warrior fairy, only he’s too pretty and has a horrible haughty attitude with a trash mouth to boot. Can she keep him in line long enough to make it to the Royal Candy Fair? 

Character Development

Ann Halford is a very sweet protagonist. She’s nice and treats everyone equally because she believes fairies and humans can be friends. She’s got talent as a silver sugar confectionist. She’s not very good at being assertive. 

Challe Fenn Challe is the beautiful warrior fairy who’s haughty and likes to insult humans. He calls Anne scarecrow. He seems to also be a bit melancholy, reminiscing about a human he knew before as he interacts more with Anne on their journey. 

Mithril Lid Pod is a small water fairy Anne saves from being killed by his previous master. He sneaks onto Anne’s wagon to repay her for saving him. He’s kinda loud and obnoxious but willing to prove himself. 

Jonas is a silver sugar confectionist related to one of the big workshop owners. He’s cheerful and is always trying to convince Anne that she’d be better off just marrying him. 

World-building

The kingdom of Highland used to be the kingdom of the fairies until humans rose up against them. Humans now rule. Fairies are treated as slaves by taking one of their wings you can control a fairy. There’s even fairy marketplaces where they can be sold as warriors (rare typing), pets (also rare and beautiful) or laborers (most of them). Fairies were the first beings to create silver sugar and humans adopted it. It’s said if you make a silver sugar confection right it can bring good luck and fortune to those that eat it. 

We find out that fairies are born from magic essence being collected in a single spot. This happens when a living being stares at the spot. They can’t taste food and absorb it. The only thing they can taste is silver sugar. 

Themes

Follow your dreams. 

This is a pretty easy theme to spot in this manga. No matter what happens throughout it, Anne insists on going to the Royal Candy Fair and becoming a Silver Sugar Master. When Jonas proposes, she refuses. When her confection is said to not have any soul to it. She buckles down on her dream. She won’t let anything stop her. 

Observations & Predictions

I think Jonas will do anything to stop Anne from trying to fulfill her goal. If she doesn’t fulfill it she’ll probably give up. If she gives up then she’d choose him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one that made her silver sugar disappear at the end of this volume.

Anne, if she continues to interact with Challe after the Royal Candy Fair, will become more assertive. With her determination, I’m sure she’ll create candy pieces that will awe others. Anne is still grieving her mother so I hope she can put soul into her creations rather than just copying her mother’s style. 

I can see Challe developing a relationship with Anne, though what kind remains to be seen. Right now he sees a lot of Liz (former human) in Anne. This makes connecting with her easier and I’m interested to see if this develops into something further. There are hints of this in the first volume when she thinks of Challe when Jonas, yet again, tells her to just marry him. 

This is a sweet coming-of-age type story. We root for Anne and hope her dream comes true. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a sweet tasting story.

This is the final Saimoe news bulletin for the International Saimoe League on The Bedlam on Baltic Avenue. Nearly two decades of memories, great battles and countless sagas in the Saimoe movement drew to a close with the conclusion of Match Day 8 in the 2022 International Saimoe League Eliminations Period.

The first of three Female Division necklaces up for grabs went to Mashiro Shiina, who defeated Violet Evergarden 3241-1550. Elaina was third with 1222 votes, Nao Tomori was fourth with 870 votes, Miko Nakano was fifth with 781 votes, Mai Sakurajima was sixth with 66 votes, Rem was seventh with 564 votes and Yukino Yukinoshita was last with 500 votes.

The second Female Division necklace went to Yui Yuigahama, who defeated Shiro 2598-2256. Nagisa Furukawa was third with 1306 votes, Nanami Aoyama was fourth with 820 votes, Illyasviel von Einzbern was fifth with 680 votes, Konata Izumi was sixth with 434 votes, Yuri Nakamura was seventh with 378 votes and Yui-nyan was last with 237 votes.

Ai Haibara won the third Female Division necklace, prevailing over Kumiko Oumae 3420-3376, Shouko Nishimiya was third with 1100 votes, Isla was fourth with 720 votes, Hu Tao was fifth with 576 votes, Iroha Isshiki was sixth with 469 votes, Megumi was sixth with 402 votes and Eriri Spencer Sawamura was last with 345 votes.

The first Male Division pendant up for grabs went to Conan Edogawa, who delivered the Final Upset of the Round as declared by the Bedlam, a 2968-2796 scalp of Miyuki Shirogane. Accelerator was third with 1344 votes, Sakuta Azusagawa was fourth with 1100 votes, Kazuto Kirigaya was fifth with 873 votes, Taki Tachibana was sixth with 654 votes, Subaru Natsuki was seventh with 508 votes and Touma Kamijou was last with 470 votes.

Takashi Natsume took the second Male Division pendant after belting Shidou Itsuka 2321-1793. Shirou Emiya was third with 1354 votes, Saika Totsuka was fourth with 1103 votes, Saitama was fifth with 870 votes, Ryuunosuke Akasaka was sixth with 761 votes, Kazuma Satou was seventh with 617 votes and Ainz Ooal Gown was last with 560 votes.

Tanjiro Kamado earned the third Male Division pendant of Eliminations 8, a 2058-2021 victor over Sasuke Uchiha. Tóm tắt nội dung

Shiina Aki là một cậu bé nhút nhát. Không những thế cậu c��n có vẻ ngoài khá nữ tính. Do đó, cậu thường bị nhầm là con gái và bị trêu chọc khá nhiều. Khi lên cấp 2, cậu đã chuyển đến ở tại nhà trọ Sunohara-sou ở Tokyo, nơi gần trường Tanamachi mà cậu theo học. Nhà trọ này được quản lý bởi Sunohara Ayaka, người mà sau đó cậu phải lòng.

Ngoài Aki ra thì còn có 3 cô gái khác sinh sống ở khu trọ này. Đó là Yukimoto Yuzu, Yamanashi Sumire, và Kazami Yuri – các thành viên của hội học sinh trường Tanamachi. Aki chuyển trường đến Tokyo với mục đích muốn thoát khỏi quá khứ bị nhận nhầm là con gái và muốn khẳng định mình là đàn ông. Nhưng tiếc thay, ở nhà trọ này, cậu thường xuyên bị các cô gái trêu chọc và bắt cậu mặc đồ con gái.

Điểm sáng về nội dung của Sunoharasou No Kanrinin-San là những tình tiết hài hước về cuộc sống yên bình nhưng đầy hỗn loạn của Shiina Aki. Từ khi cậu luôn được đối xử như một cô gái ở nông thôn đến khi chuyển đến Tokyo để có một khởi đầu mới. Chị quản lý nhà trọ, Ayaka Sunohara, là một cô gái cao lớn và tốt bụng. Những cư dân khác cũng là những cô gái cực kỳ dễ thương. Tóm lại 12 tập của bộ phim diễn ra trong không khí dễ thương, hài hước.

Hình ảnh

Hình ảnh các nhân vật trong series Sunoharasou No Kanrinin-San được thiết kế vô cùng dễ thương mà mềm mại. Ayka là nhân vật nữ được xây dựng hoàn hảo nhất. Các nhân vật khác cũng có đặc điểm của riêng mình, rất độc đáo và dễ dàng nhận ra. 

Bảng màu được sử dụng trong phim có phạm vi rộng giúp tổng thể hình ảnh trong phim có chiều sâu và thú vị. Tuy nhiên các chuyển động của hình ảnh không thực sự bắt mắt. Điểm sáng duy nhất của hoạt ảnh là phần OP, đây là phần thu hút toàn bộ sự chú ý trong series.

Nhân vật

Không có nhiều sự phát triển nhân vật diễn ra trong Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san nhưng với mỗi tập được phát sóng, thật dễ dàng để thấy được tác động lớn của Kanrinin-san đối với các học sinh sống ở Sunohara-sou. Với một câu chuyện đơn giản như thế này, các nhân vật là những người khiến bộ phim tỏa sáng. Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san đã làm được một công việc đáng kinh ngạc là khiến cho các nhân vật phù hợp và thú vị từ đầu đến cuối.

Âm thanh

Nhạc phim mang một cảm giác hoài cổ và ấm áp, sử dụng nhiều nhạc cụ dây làm giai điệu chính và một số nhạc cụ đồng để lấp đầy không gian. Những đoạn piano chậm rãi dùng trong những cảnh thân mật hơn.

Ca khúc chủ đề mở đầu rất dễ thương và hấp dẫn. Nó hoàn toàn phù hợp với bộ phim  và rất vui khi xem ở đầu mỗi tập. Ca khúc kết thúc cũng rất hay, là cái kết hoàn hảo cho mỗi tập phim điên rồ. Về phần nhạc nền thì không có gì đặc biệt, về cơ bản nó chỉ là một loạt các bản nhạc piano mềm mại, yên tĩnh.

Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san mang đến cảm giác mờ ảo ấm áp cho các khán giả khi theo dõi bộ phim này. Các nhân vật và bản chất của bộ phim mang lại một cảm giác rất nhẹ nhàng. Đây là một bộ phim hoạt hình hài tuyệt vời với cảm giác rất ấm cúng. Idol girl is from an ongoing manga called Double by Noda Ayako. It's a psychological drama about actors, and the girl shown is named Ren I think?? She gets involved with one of the main guys and is quite an interesting character. Not sure how the series is gonna go and if they'll treat her well as the two main guys get together

Handmaiden is from a BL called Kouguu no Omega, by Tsuyuhisa Kumi. It's a fucking omegaverse asdfsdf if you don't know what that is, look it up with caution!! Usually the genre is bad, but this one is... okay so far. her name is Soo-ya and is a very prominent figure in the story which is cool!! There is age-gap in the main couple, so please be warned

Housewife is from an ongoing series called Mantis Cage by Psyche Delico. UH Sachiko is pretty prominent as a character but most of the story is REALLY BAD. Like it's terrible lol. Lots of noncon and violence, the main "love interest" man is outright abusive and I really wouldn't recommend it. Sachiko is an angel but she's not quite enough "comfort" to the rest of the "hurt" caused by the series

Bar-owning mommy is from a finished series called Koi Ga Ochitara by Ueda Aki. The series is good! Has two volumes overall and has a healthy main couple. The bar-owner Shiina is a background character that is beautiful but doesn't get a lot of screentime, and is unfortunately used to stir up jealousy between the main guys, so it's kinda hit-or-miss

i'm so tired of 90% of yuri manga and how young-looking even supposedly adult characters look that i'm tempted to make a sideblog about all the hot female side characters in BL
