pjo has a lot of plot holes but by far the biggest one is percy’s so-called fatal flaw of loyalty. not ONCE has he had to sacrifice the greater cause for a loved one; he’s always either managed to save both or made the right choice. @saltyypercy you’re right, we DO need to talk about this?? his fatal flaw is more likely the way he allows his emotions to cloud his judgement (when he choked akhyls) and the rashness he applies to his decisions (the incident at mount st helens). loyalty has never even come close to causing percy’s downfall?

Children of the Big 3 and Immortality
If you think about it, almost all the children of the big 3 have had brushes with immortality, or at least extended life.
Thalia was turned into a tree by her father, then joined the hunters.
Nico and Bianca lived in the Lotus Casino for decades, and Bianca joined the hunters.
Percy had the offer from the olympians in tlo.
Hazel came back to life and Hades turned a blind eye (in a way kinda a second-chance thing similar to Thalia’s tree).
Some of the children have already taken their opportunities, but some haven’t.
Percy, for instance, turned down the Olympian’s offer of immortality. Interestingly, we saw his power over water/liquid grow a lot in the heroes of Olympus. Nico noted that Percy was probably the most powerful demigod he’d ever met, and Nico had witnessed Jason’s prowess both before the Hera Incident and after. I wonder if Percy’s aqua-powers extended to other liquids (e.g. Akhyls’s poison) because in a way, he couldn’t fully reject the gods’ offer? If he didn’t assume an immortal state but did get a semblance of an immortal’s power, even if he never wanted it?
Jason. Obviously, things didn’t work out as well in terms of living. Interestingly when Thalia was about to die on her way to camp, Zeus intervened, but chose not to do the same for Jason. Is it because Zeus and Jupiter make different choices— is Jupiter more “levelheaded”? Maybe. Could it be because Zeus is taking more of a Hercules-style approach and offering immortality after death?
Maybe. But I have reason to believe that Hades will almost definitely take this approach with Nico. Over pjo and hoo, Hades’ relationship with Nico changed from “Bianca was more capable than you” to helping his father with his job when the doors of death were open, and even staying in the underworld for some time. Hazel didn’t have that level of closeness with him, and even Bianca didn’t. Once Nico dies and is firmly within his father’s domain, I believe that Hades will immortalize him in order to help him run his kingdom.
