AkaMibu headcanons

They like to cuddle when they get home from basketball practice, and Akashi likes being the little spoon. Sometimes, Akashi just wants to be vulnerable and still feel safe.

They go out for coffee together on weekend mornings, and when they do, they do not care about the eyes on them as they hold hands and walk down main street because they refuse to let a few people upset them over something that isn't their business.

Midorima

Why I like them: midorima is easily willing to change and grow, he changes himself so so much and is ready to accept his mistakes. though he seems proud, he’s willing to lay that aside and change his worldview. i know this reading sounds strange but if you look at his character arc and story, midorima is the miracle member that always had the most open mindset. he may not like kuroko, but he’s humble enough to respect him. he might be a bit arrogant but he’s also 100% ready to accept new things. he’s also so hardworking and clever and just- he’s a great character!

Why I don’t: midorima was complicit in the 111-11 thing and didn’t show much remorse for it. he can also be very selfish and doesn’t often consider others’ needs (although i feel like he can definitely grow from this - and does go out of his way to help people)

Favorite episode (scene if movie): s3 e6, the sky-direct shot. that shit’s just so good it encapsulates basically everything i love about mido! he’s learned so much and come so far and is now relying on his friends. also the amount of work that went into that pass is just *sobs*

Favorite season/movie: s2, i loved his interactions with kagami and the way he helped him without showing it. it shows that midorima while often selfish can be selfless when he wants to

Favorite line: “No one on this team could ever be useless.” it just shows how much growing and learning midorima has done and how much he’s changed. i cried at this line, i kid you not

Favorite outfit: his orange uniform he looks like a carrot and i love it <3

OTP: midokaga okay i was sold when kagami wrote his name and number ;) on mido’s hand. also the angst that can come out of mido considering kaga his rival but kaga’s one and only true rival being aomine...

Brotp: midotaka. i have the feeling that if midorima ever discovers memes it’s over for the rest of the world

Head Canon: how dare you ask me to pick only one /j. anyway midorima becomes captain in his 3rd year with takao as VC. i think he will mature and grow enough to be a responsible leader and will know how to push his team just right. i would’ve said “he’s neurodivergent” but like... if you are headcanoning midorima as neurotypical in 2020 idk what to tell you

Unpopular opinion: midorima’s oha asa isn’t ‘annoying’ or a ‘funny quirk’, it’s his hyperfixation and that’s great! he derives happiness from it so the fandom needs to stop making a joke of it

A wish: we get some midorima backstory - i need to know what his sister’s like. i dont care about his parents tho bc i know that fujimaki will never make mido’s trans lesbian moms canon

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: mido ever losing his confidence in himself. that’s a very beautiful thing about him and i think if he lost his confidence he would be totally shattered - it’s what keeps him moving forward

Why I like them: lots of reasons! mibuchi’s very interesting as a character, he’s sassy and smart but also gentle with those he cares for. it’s lovely

Why I don’t: he can be a bit of an ass to those he doesn’t really know/opposing teams. also, i know this is stereotyping on fujimaki’s part and i fucking hate him for it, but it felt so wrong when mibu tried to ‘flirt’ with hyuuga. (glasses-bastard’s reaction is another story entirely, but... let’s not go there my bp is high enough already)

Favorite episode (scene if movie): sometime in s3, the first time he shot ‘void’. it was so terrifying and electrifying, just fantastic

Favorite season/movie: s3 since he only showed up there lmao

Favorite line: “I’ll show you something nice.” mibuchi respected koganei enough to stop holding back here, which was amazing <3

Favorite outfit: the rakuzan school uniform he truly looks awesome in it

To be honest I love both romantic and platonic AkaMibu so so so much. I dont even care what type of relationship they have they just have to be with eachother for life.

Its 100% in my top 10 Akashi ships purely for the fact that they love each other so much its actually heart warming?? Mibuchi taking one look at Akashi(at Bokushi no less) and said "he is so baby, so cute, so adorable I'm going to call him sei-chan"

And Akashi also cares about Mibuchi a lot like the time he comforted him about the foul with hyuuga.

I just think reo needs a kouhai to baby and akashi needs to be babied I dont make the rules.

Sometimes Akashi stays up too late working and Mibuchi will pull him away from his work and usher him to bed and give him little kisses all over and keep him trapped in his cuddles. For Akashi, work is a sickness, and Mibuchi is the cure.

AkaMibu #11: ‘We’re actually being kind of silly for once’ kiss

Reo and Seijuurou are the mature ones.

Unlike Koutarou and Eikichi, with all their horsingaround in Rakuzan’s clubroom. (And the school hallways, and the cafeteria, and everywhereelse.) Unlike the rest of their teammates, because while Rakuzan’s basketballclub may be strict, it’s still full of teenage boys. Unlike the majority ofpeople they know, even the ones who aren’t teenagers. Because the unfortunate truthis that most adults aren’t nearly as grown up as they think they are.

Maybe that’s why Seijuurou and Reo are so drawn to eachother. How they understand one another, and the rare wisdom of their advice, evenwhen their friends ignore all their thoughtful warnings. It accounts for eachlongsuffering look they are forced to exchange throughout the day, when someoneis being childish yet again. It’s whythey trust each other, with their deepest secrets and oldest wounds.

They are kindred spirits, old souls.

… Which is why there is no accounting for those momentswhen they aren’t being altogether mature.

“Sei-chan,” Reo says, drawling out a sigh. “You aren’ttaking this seriously.”

Seijuurou’s lips twitch. Reo can see all too clearlythat he’s holding back a laugh. “Forgive me. This scene is just a bit—”

He can’t seem to finish. They’re lounging side by side onReo’s frill-covered bed, as a movie plays on the laptop between them. A manholds a woman in his arms, and gazes into her tear-filled eyes.

“But this is a classic!” Reo gives Seijuurou anindignant look. (Well, more like a pout.) “You usually have such good taste.”

“I enjoy older movies when they are well-executed,” Seijuuroureplies, apparently regaining his composure. “However, I doubt this one earned much inthe way of praise. The romance is questionable, at best.”

Reo huffs. “Sometimes I think you have no heart.”

“Do you really find this dialogue romantic?” Seijuurou straightens against the pillows, as one of his brows tilts upward. “‘Your love is my light,my sun. Scorch me, and I will burn for you, my darling’?”

He can’t even finish, without having to stifle anotherlaugh behind his hand.

Reo glares down at his boyfriend. “Of course it sounds ridiculous when you say it like that.”

“There is no way those lines could sound anything butabsurd,” Seijuurou says, with his usual finality.

Res sets down his nail file, and pauses the movie. “Thenwhat kind of dialogue do you consider romantic? Let me guess, some stuffy oldthing from Shakespeare. Because he never wrote anything ridiculous.”

His tone is smug, as he inches closer to Seijuurou’sspot on the bed. (They may or may not have discussed this before.)

Seijuurou’s eyes are sparkling now. “Shakespeare is agenius. There isn’t a bad line in his works. ‘But soft, what light throughyonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun’—”

“—Oh so the sun isan good metaphor, as long as some overrated English playwright came up withit—”

“Call me but love, and I’ll be new baptised,” Seijuurouadds.

Reo scoffs. “Really, Sei-chan—”

“He speaks! O speak again, bright angel.” Seijuuroutakes Reo by the hand. He’s quoting all the lines in English. Perfectly pronounced,of course. “For thou art as glorious to this night, being o'er my head, as is awinged messenger of heaven.”

Reo stares down at him. Unsure whether this dramatic recitationis meant to be charming or bizarre. He’s all too familiar with his boyfriend’s offbeathumor, and he’s still processing the English words, with their elaboratecadence. (He caught the word “angel,” and the look in Seijuurou’s lovely redeyes as he said it was somehow distracting…)

Then Reo realizes all at once that Seijuurou just madea height joke in that last line. About himself.

Reo bursts into laughter, and Seijuurou laughs too. That sweet,musical sound always sends a shiver down Reo’s spine. Seijuurou tugs on theplush fabric of Reo’s bathrobe, pulling him down into a kiss. Their smilinglips flutter together.

Seijuurou chuckles again. He rests his forehead againstReo’s. “I’m kidding, of course. The balcony scene is over-quoted. And it’strue, I have no heart.” He says it teasingly, as a smirk crosses his face. “Also,Romeo was an idiot.”

“Agreed,” Reo says. Because if ever there was animmature, reckless couple, those star-crossed lovers certainly qualified.

“Now Hamlet, however—”

Reo groans, and pulls his boyfriend back into anotherkiss. If only to hush all of Seijuurou’s intellectual rambling. Because no matter howendearing it may be, it simply can’t compare to his kisses.

But this seems to remind Seijuurou of something. His eyesgrow even brighter, as he rises onto his knees. Then he murmurs a few softwords beside Reo’s ear. It’s another Shakespeare quote, one of Seijuurou’s favorites.So in a way, it’s still a joke—

“I do lovenothing in the world so well as you,” he says.

—But somehow, Reo has a feeling it is also the solemn truth.

Seijuurou kisses Reo again. In his long hair, besidehis temple, and back down to his lips. Reo melts, of course. Mature or not,he’s always been a romantic.

And no matter what his boyfriend claims, he knows he isnot the only one.

A/N: For anyone curious, the movie dialogue is made up, while most of Akashi’s quotes are from the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet. (Though he did change “she” to “he”! XD) His last line is from what is probably my favorite Shakespeare play–and might even be my favorite romance– the comedy Much Ado About Nothing. (Akashi isn’t really like Benedick, though… He’s more like the Prince, going around and matchmaking his tsundere friends. //laughs) So yes, I headcanon Akashi as being into Shakespeare and Reo loving old black-and-white movies… I don’t know why. But now you all know? XD
