INKTOBER 25TH - THE GREEN BOUGH OF RETURN

The high priest came forth, and all before him were in awe, for rarely did he leave the great temple save to take counsel with their ruler. He bore aloft a bough of the fragrant tree oiolairë, saying, “O Ar-Pharazôn, Lord of Anadûnê, I wish to bestow a blessing upon thee ere your armament departs these proud lands!”

He halted before the king. “Your betrothed was not willing, sire, thus I act in her stead, if by your judgment I am deemed worthy.”

And Ar-Pharazôn did concede, knowing the begrudging truth of Sauron’s words, thus leading him onto the mighty Aglarrâma, unrivaled in its glory. Upon the prow Sauron placed the bough, and fastened with taught rope to weather any storm it lay as a beacon of hope and promise for the fleet on its perilous journey ahead.

“May this offering appease the spirits of the sea,” said he, “so it may be calm, and the winds blow in your favor.” And Sauron smiled, stepping off the ship onto dry land once more. “Victory shall come to the King of All Men! Farewell!"

Er-Murazor=Unofficial name and setting for Angmar’s past from MERP.  Second son or Tar-Ciryatan and younger brother of Tar-Atanamir, basically he was a prince from the line of Numenorean Kings.

He was disciplined by Sauron after this.

Any way I think this was in Umbar when Angmar would come in to bring in news to his Master about Mordor and it’s political blah blah.  And he’d randomly meet Pharazon by accident and then above happens.

Also, Pharazon can’t see his face the whole time.

Hi guys, I feel like I’ve never actually done this before, which is rather dumb on my part. I just wanted to make a semi-formal list of who I ship in the Silmarillion, for general fyi purposes or maybe so you can know what kind of content to expect on my blog (or you know, if it’s a rarepair, I’ll always accept post recommendations). Or maybe just to know a bit more about me :D

Mairon/Eönwë (I view this as one-sided on Eönwë’s part, there is never any actual romance, and it doesn’t appear in all of my Silm fanon universes. Mostly though they’re just bffs)

Mairon/Curumo (again, totally one-sided and just something I’ve played with as a reason for Curumo’s interesting relationship to Sauron)

Eönwë/Thuringwethil (This was mentioned in approximately one [1] fic I read once, and I liked it, under the right in-universe circumstances. *winks at you in the direction of my upcoming fic*)

Russingon (Maedhros/Fingon)

Mairon/Maedhros

Silverfisting (or Silvergifting, w/e we’re calling it now) - sometimes I’ll toy with the potential of this but if I do, I see it as one-sided on Celebrimbor’s part.

Melkor/Manwë or any other Melkor ship (esp ones like Melkor/Luthien that are taken to be non-consensual)

...Or any other incest or incest-adjacent ship. Um, what else.. there are a lot of elf ships that I am ambivalent towards because I know so little about the elf side of the Silmarillion. 

For the record, I’m conservative in my shipping because of the nature of relationships in-universe, being that elves are celibate until marriage and that’s a piece of lore I don’t want to negate, because I think it makes the story richer and more interesting. In my views, Ainur love but once or not at all, similar to dwarves (imo Aulë gave dwarves that trait) and undergo a permanent bonding of souls upon marriage (imo the elves learned much of their customs from the Ainur), and also do not inherently possess any desire to procreate (why would they). I’m partial towards Elf/Man pairings, the interspecies romance trope is endearing to me and I like what Tolkien’s done with it in his universe.

So, the 2nd Age of Middle-earth kinda happened last night when some friends and I were playing the evil card game.

And no, it wasn’t even me who played this set.  I did happily freak out over it, though.

Concept:  Mairon, high priest in Númenor, making up solemn holy days just to keep Ar-Pharazôn off of him.

No, my king, we can’t tonight... it is the Feast of... of Bragollach... yes, that’s it... Very solemn.  Can’t do it. No, I’m not making this up. I’ll be worshiping in the temple all night. Yes, all night. Lots of sacrificing to do. So sorry; you’ll just have to wait. *runs away to his temple and does not come out for days*

WIP

Is giant statue too giant?  Maybe. Oh well.

Mairon.  In Númenor.  In his temple.  Weeping at the feet of a giant statue of Melkor.

Poor dear is depressed and desperate and losing his mind in an unhealthy “relationship” with Ar-Pharazôn, trying to cope by playing the high priest in his new Melkor-worshiping religion, sacrificing human beings as burnt offerings - you can see their blood upon the soles of his feet - and sometimes he considers throwing himself off of that tall temple dome just to put an end to the madness and loneliness, but he knows even that wouldn’t work, and he must go forward with his plan.  He must.  He must get Melkor back...

What do you think on Mairon (Sauron)/Cirilla pairing ? Because Cirilla is planeswalker she can simple travel to Arda through space-time so it's not problem.

I really have no opinion as I do not know the character Cirilla.

But I will say that in general for my shipping preferences with Mairon, I will always put him primarily with Melkor.  I also ship him with Celebrimbor in the 2nd Age (partly because it fits into my idea of Mairon’s motivation at that time being to get Melkor back from the Void, and him needing Celebrimbor’s help for his plans to succeed) and later with Ar-Pharazôn (but please note here that Mairon in no way wants to be with this disgusting human and is only doing this because he is desperate in his desire to get Melkor back).I could also see him in an AU where he goes back to Valinor after the War of Wrath ending up with Eönwë.

However, Anon, if you enjoy shipping Mairon with Cirilla, then I say, do it!  Crossovers are fun.  :)
