actually no this isn’t a conspiracy but hey why does the pip-boy in new vegas, despite being the same model, have the ability to be swapped out for the pimp-boy??? currently i have one of two reasons: one, the biometric lock was a feature that made it into an earlier model of the 3000A, that was later removed (but most people don’t know that and think both models are exactly the same) or two, the biometric lock was an intended feature that never made the cut.

see in fo3 stanley says ‘haha it’s on you forever and ever!’ but part of me wonders if he’s saying that because you’re a 10 year old and the overseer would go Ape Shitt if someone lost their pip-boy! like c’mon man these things r rare as hell!!!!!!!! so my current theory is that they tell the kids this to prevent them trying to remove them full-stop. a bit like ‘don’t go into the reactor room or the VAULT GHOST will remove yr spine via yr asshole!!!’ type of thing u kno

(also, it’s the 3000A, which the wiki states is the oldest model, but in fallout 4 it’s the 3000 mark 4, so my current theory is that there was the 3000 with a biometric lock that was a prototype, the updated edition (A, aka mark 1 or 2) without a lock, and then they just didn’t add that feature in the following versions. wrow)

i def think that the 3000a is a pain in the DICK to get off -- the mk IV has that handy clasp, so the A is probably a lot more fiddly, but def removable. i mean, even in fallout 3, some of the clothes you wear go UNDER the pip-boy, so unless this is some magic shit, you have to take it off!!! so rookie def only wears theirs when travelling/in combat, but when they’re at home that things goes on the bedside table and stays there.

Will the pipboy 2000 be making a comeback in cascadia? Residents of West coast vaults all seem to have been assigned the 2000 model rather than the 3000 or (whatever the fallout 4 one is!) Totally understandable if not!

pretty sure making a new pip boy is a lot of work and that’s just work man. a lot of it. did you know making a pip boy is a lot of work? 

but nah the pipboy will be the Pipboy 3000D, aka Fallout 4′s
