BH6 Snippets - 9/25/2024

Still working on that sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, have some stuff related to the Legacies arc/some news stuff I heard:

“My dudes, I know we’re trying to lay low, but what if we just went to a different city for a bit?” Fred offered, balancing his laptop in a hand as he navigated over.  “Our website’s getting a lot of pings from Oakland asking for us, that’s an option.” “I still question the website,” Obake grumbled. “What are the pings?” Tadashi asked. “So over there they aren’t even allowed to defend themselves, this one dude keeps getting robbed and nobody’s doing anything…bunch of car theft…I mean it’s not like, supervillain stuff or mutants or whatever but it’s still pretty important in the grand scheme of things,” Fred offered. “How is this grand scheme stuff?” Wasabi asked. “Good karma and stuff, making the world a better place, stuff like that.  Also I have a block of time budgeted for superhero stuff and not doing superhero stuff is throwing my schedule out of whack.” “Technically it’s the San Fransokyo police that are after us, they can’t follow us to Oakland,” Hiro pointed out. “Please stop with the rule loopholes, you’re giving me gray hairs,” Tadashi scolded. “Please continue with the rule loopholes,” Obake said. “Even though this means doing superhero stuff?” “I rescind my comment on this one specific thing.”

Hiro gets to be more of a chaotic gremlin in this AU and part of how he expresses that is through finding those legal loopholes.

Just Some Random Fanfic Concepts

So I was going to wait and see if anyone else was interested in me posting up some of my general fanfic ideas. However, I’m bored and struggling to work with the CiM update I’m working on right now. So I’m just going to do it? Also, a heads up to look out for another post coming later, because I want to share some of my Variro YouTube playlist, too.  BUT FIRST, story ideas. You’ll get some working titles for the ones I HAVE working titles for, but otherwise I’m just winging it cuz there are a lot of them. These are in no particular order. Things being higher or lower on the list doesn’t mean they’re more or less likely to be worked on. 

#1 - A continuation for Land or Sea (title pending)

So a little background on this one. I got the idea for this one at the same time as I got the idea for Trust is Something Earned. I put which one I worked on first up to a vote on the Tangled Amino. 

It’s a mermaid(merman/boy??)!Varian AU that centers on the idea: What if, in Queen for a Day, instead of coming up with a solution that created the amber when interacting with the rocks, Varian creates a different one and winds up getting himself turned into a mermaid instead?

It’ll feature 4 OCs: two created by me, and two created by a friend. The perspective will shift between Varian and an OC that belongs to a friend of mine named Charlotte, Varian’s childhood friend and love interest. 

Without spoiling too much, it takes place primarily during the events of season 2 (and maybe stretches into season 3). It switches perspective between Varian, who’s sent to live in the ocean after the accident and becomes friends with an adventurous merboy named Caspian who helps him rediscover his passion for science and alchemy, and Charlotte, who’s left behind in Corona and is trying to rediscover her sense of self and direction after losing her best and only friend. Charlotte’s perspective will help show how the premise changes events in Corona, while Varian’s is wholly original. 

The other OCs that will be involved in the story will be my OC Adrian Claire, who followers of TiSE will know, and my friend’s OC Henry. 

#2 - Stitched Together (originated from Ragdoll)

Okay so the original premise for this was for it to be a Variro story. The focus was Hiro living a double life: a college student in San Fransokyo who realized the existence of the several magical realms that ran parallel to his home after discovering he had magical blood passed down from his mother (maybe even throwing in superhero and making it a triple life - poor Hiro). He finds what’s known in the multi-realm as a living doll - a doll that gained a soul either through devotion and affection of a previous owner and desire to become more human, or having a human soul literally shoved into it. 

Varian, his doll, is the latter. Due to crimes against his home realm of Corona and his own uncontrollable magical talent, they forced him into having his soul magically “stitched” into a rag doll, until Hiro’s magical talent allowed him to awaken.  However, because of his nature as a living doll, Varian now depends on and is subservient to Hiro, but the two soon grow a bond much closer than expected. 

Now, after working on the lore and world of the story, I’ve grown its scope a little. Rather than simply being a crossover with Tangled and Big Hero 6, I want Stitched Together to be a bigger-scale crossover, including How To Train Your Dragon and the Tales of Arcadia series as well. 

It’s going to be Hiccup/Hiro/Varian, along with Jim/Claire from ToA being close friends with the trio. They’re all going to be young wizards from different realms, with different magic specialties studying in Arcanum, the central realm that connects all magically advanced realms. Other characters from each series will show up as well! You’ll see a bit of all of them, it’s a pretty enormous project.

#3 - Maybe some Hogwarts Shenanigans?

I’d really like to do a short, maybe 7-chapter story on the Hogwarts Headcanons for the OT3 I did a while back. The big issue is I’m still trying to figure out where I stand on posting Harry Potter/Hogwarts content after the whole J.K. Rowling thing. 

It’d be a chapter focusing on each year the three spend at Hogwarts together, some key moments through the years, and things like that. Just a small, random story about some kids at Hogwarts having fun. 

Might do it, might not, we’ll see. 

#4 - Time Travel Variro Fic (title pending)

This is another one sort of meant to run alongside season 2 of TTS, and maybe s3. It also replaces the S3 of BH6 the series. Just cuz. 

Basically Varian escapes after being put in prison, and decides the best way to save his dad is prevent the amber from capturing him all together. Vindictive, feral little villain raccoon decides that if he can’t have his happy ending, he won’t let Raps have hers and plans to make a time machine so he can go back and prevent Eugene from rescuing Raps. 

Unfortunately, a slight user error and hiccup in his plans (namely the fact that Ruddiger doesn’t appreciate being left alone and hops in the machine with him and all the noise and flashing lights of a steampunk-medieval time machine spook him) causes him to catapult into the future instead. 

Meanwhile, Hiro’s dealing with his friends moving on to find work, his own internship at KreiTech while attending school, and being fifteen and struggling with hormones and his sexuality finally starting to rear its ugly head after being dormant for 15 years of being in an ongoing relationship with SCIENCE (aka he’s seeing guys, thinking ‘he’s cute/handsome’, and he’s PANICKING). Then, as he’s on his way home from internship one day, a random af raccoon tugs at his pants leg until he finds a boy in weird clothes unconscious in an alley somewhere

Varian, after being woken up, and unsure if he should bring up that he’s from the past or not, makes up a fake story about running away from a small town. Hiro, feeling there’s something more but empathetic to Varian’s story, invites him to stay with him at the Lucky Cat and introduces him to Cass. 

Varian is stand-offish at first, absorbed in his “pet project”, as he calls it around Hiro. Basically, the machine didn’t time travel with him, he’s stuck, and is determined to get home and continue his plan. Hiro, however, is drawn in by the mysterious boy and tries to reach out to him and open him up.

Varian catches on to modern technology and science pretty darn quickly. He’s a smart boy. He also stays holed up in Hiro’s lab or the room they allowed him to borrow reading all day. Until finally Hiro cracks him out of his shell, he starts attending SFIT, and meets the rest of the BH6 crew.

There’s more to the story than this but that’s all I’m saying for now. Lots of drama, tension, etc, and just a fun time as boys discover their sexualities, learn where they can call home, and all that good stuff. 

#5 - In Someone Else’s Shoes (Time Travel Team Awesome Fic!)

So this one is kind of meant to work in tandem with the Variro fic. While the Variro fic explores Varian failing in his plan and getting catapulted into the future, this fic shows the results of what would happen if the time travel worked.  

It centers around Team Awesome! Varian travels back to the past, and tells Eugene that he dies if he hides in the tower. He convinces him that he’s his partner in his future, by knowing his name and stroking his ego a bit. But inform him that the crown will lead to nothing but trouble and his death (conveniently leaving out the part where he meets the love of his life and gets brought back from the dead because of a magical healing flower). 

The alteration to the timeline erases the former Varian’s existence and overwrites the Varian of the new timeline with his memories - giving him the memories of both the former and current timeline. He wakes up in bed at the palace, being woken up by his personal attendant Flynn (Eugene, who only allows Varian to call him by his proper name when they’re alone) and told to get ready for his coronation as crown prince. It turns out, in this timeline, because Eugene and Rapunzel weren’t there to stop him from his running water experiments, the devastation on Old Corona caused the death of his dad and several others. Since he was the son of an old friend, and they longed for their missing princess, Frederic and Arianna take him in as their son, and monitor his scientific hobby to prevent him from causing more trouble. 

Of course, this won’t do. He confides the truth to Eugene, that he was trying to save his dad by returning to the past (but again, keeping out key elements), and the two decide to work together to rebuild the time machine and alter the past without the catastrophic results. 

Won’t spoil too much, there are some wild twists and turns here. But it’s one I’m really looking forward to, again!

#6 - Maybe some Percy Jackson/Camp Half-Blood shenanigans

I’d just really like to make some Camp Half-Blood AU stuff. It’d be more a series of one-shots, or just a story that jumps around in time in the course of it. 

Crossover with Tangled, Big Hero 6, Tales of Arcadia, and How to Train Your Dragon with a focus on (as usual) Hiccup/Hiro/Varian. 

Not going to say too much about it though, because I want to do an AU Headcanons post with some details on this one! I have lots of ideas.Some you might expect, some you might not. 

#7 - Hercules Inspired Variro Fic (Title pending!)

So this one is wild. Basically, after the events of BH6 s1, Obake escapes. He stays on the run, escaping to Germany, and finds a young boy of genius on par with Hiro, but in the field of Chemistry, and takes him under his wing.

Varian is distraught after his father, who’d contracted an incurable disease, falls comatose. The government does nothing to help him, even though he has friends that hold political power, and Obake uses that to lure him into becoming his protege. 

The pair lie low for a while, wreaking a little havoc in Germany while Varian looks for a cure for his father. The boy dabbles in all manner of fields while trying to help his dad, and before long finds out that the last component he needs is in America, in San Fransokyo. 

Varian, now in his early 20s (which means Hiro is too!), Varian travels to America. He’s currently working as a villain under Obake while daylighting as the head of a German medical research company. 

He meets Hiro by chance. He flirts a little, but tries his best to keep his distance while trying to achieve his goals. Unfortunately, Obake notices how flustered Hiro gets around Varian, and has Varian continue flirting with and pursuing him as a form of distraction, and confides in him about Big Hero 6 and their identities. Varian is against it at first, but goes along with his mentor. 

Varian continues flirting with Hiro, gets in with the group as a friend, and begins distracting Hiro and sabotaging Big Hero 6 while working on a plan to steal the last component he needs for his cure - a solution being stored under high security at KreiTech - where Hiro works, partnered with Krei.

It’s Hercules inspired so there’s a bit more to it, but that’s all you need to know for now!

#8 - Phantom Thief Varian! (Title Pending)

Similar to the time travel one, this one KIND of links with the Hercules-inspired one. It’s not necessarily meant to link narratively or thematically, like the two time travel fics, but it has some similarities. 

Namely the fact that Varian came to America after forming a company to research a cure for his terminally ill father. Whether or not Quirin is comatose in this one, I don’t know. 

But it’s hard for a small company to get the influence or money Varian would need for his research. So, he steals valuables and rare compounds and materials to fund his research and keep him going, under the name “der Waschbär”, which Google Translate tells me means “the Raccoon” so I’m rolling with it.

He meets Varian in a business meeting with KreiTech, or one of those fancy business parties or something along those lines. They become infatuated with each other pretty quickly (as adults that are more sexually aware, I always picture these two precocious kids being pretty flirtatious when attracted to someone so they just kind of click pretty quickly). 

It’s basically the story of Varian, the charming phantom thief who worms his way into Hiro’s life, and Hiro, the superhero aiding the cops in his capture. All while being completely oblivious to each other’s identities and flirting/pursuing each other constantly on the side xD I just like phantom thief stories okay?

#9 - POKEMON!!!!!

Yeah, I still want to do something with these pokemon headcanons

I’m still not entirely sure what kind of pokemon thing I’d want to do. Similarly to the other ones centered around my headcanon posts, it would probably be something I write in short bursts or one-shots and such. 

I’m not sure if I want to do something focusing solely on Corona as a region and the Tangled Characters, or continuing the Hiccup/Hiro/Varian that the headcanons focus on. 

#10 - The VTuber AU

Yes, I’m doing this! I’ve fallen neck-deep into the VTuber pit, and I love the idea of a VTuber Varian. I feel like his avatar is probably a combined effort between him and Rapunzel, who would probably be the artist behind his character. He’s probably an independent VTuber, streaming on his own with his own model - either because he was genuinely curious about the boom and wanted to try it, or due to the influence of his friends (whether a bet or something along those lines).

As stated in a previous post, I feel like his vtuber character is super steampunk, and probably raccoon-temed. There are a lot of VTubers that use the animal-ear look after all. His VTubing character is super chaotic, and tends to fly solo when streaming. 

Hiro is a pretty big gamer himself, but never got big into VTubers. He felt it was just a fad attached to regular streamers, and never really got into watching other people play games, so vtubers make it even weirder really. 

He was looking for help getting past a certain point in a hard game, though, and in his search came across Varian(in the fic, his VTuber identity will have a separate name! I just haven’t htought of one yet) streaming the game, and stuck around to see what he did in that part, and wound up staying because he was chaotic and fun to watch. Before long, he realized he was watching clips from previous streams and catching his streams regularly. The others start teasing him about it. 

Meanwhile, Varian, who’s recently joined in with the group after having started SFIT the year or semester after Varian (maybe Year, since Hiro can be watching it while the others graduate and start looking for work, since he doesn’t really have any other friends in SFIT so he just kind of falls into it to pass time)

Still dunno how he figures out Varian is a VTuber, and whether it’s before or after they start planning though. I just rcreated this one it has work to do.

Anyway that’s about it. There’s probably a few smaller ones I put off to the side of my brain for the time being that didn’t get added here. I forget which ones I start planning a lot and I almost never write them down, I just plan them in my brain as I go and the ones that stick are just keepers. Hope you like these though! Curious to see what everyone things and which of the ideas the, like, 20 of you that follow me like.

BH6 Snippets--2/20/2024

More work on the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, we're past 200 pages and starting to knuckle down into finishing episodes.

“Oh wow,” Wasabi said, stopping dead. Why he felt that way was because the base was finally finished. “Isn’t it great!?” Fred asked, bouncing up and down next to them.  “Roddy finished it this morning—” “Coding was the last thing we needed—your keys, your passwords, my card, don’t lose any of them,” Roddy said, handing them out.  “Also you three,” he said, indicating the Hamada brothers.  “When you graduate let me know, I got contracting work for you.” “We will definitely let you know,” Tadashi said, giving him a thumbs up. “So now it’s grand tour time!” Fred exclaimed.  “Who’s ready to check everything out?  We got a hangar for any vehicles we might get, our costume holders for fancy storage and ease of access, the ball pit—” “I can’t believe we got a ball pit,” Wasabi said. “Ya-huh.  Also a chem lab, an indoor track, training rooms, one of which the bros did up all fancy so we can have like, virtual battles…am I missing anything?” “Computer lab,” Roddy said. “Also,” Tadashi said, tapping on the wall in the conference room—a black line formed on the wall before two eyes blinked open, in imitation of Baymax’s eyes.  “We have our own personal AI assistant—meet Basemax.” “We’re not calling it Basemax,” Obake groused. “Also Roddy it’s still in the planning stages but I’ll let you know when we got a Buildmax for you to test.” “Tadashi.”

Tadashi is sticking with the naming theme because he knows it bugs Obake, ngl

BH6 Snippets--2/23/2024

More done today on both The Glowing Tide and the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself--might be close to finding a name for that one, so yay!

“So theoretically we can work these with the neurotransmitter,” Hiro announced as Obake went over the detail work again.  “Which hopefully avoids the issue of having a little chip fry at the base of our skulls.  How���s the coding look?  I don’t want this blowing up in our faces the failure penalty for these would hurt.” “Theoretically, the coding is fine,” Obake said, scanning through it all. “Theoretically?” “The chance of failure is never zero,” Obake pointed out.  “But I think we’ve done as much combing as we can do.  Might as well go ahead and test it.” “And now, we fight for the right to do so.” “Isn’t this supposed to be my thing?” “Yes, which is why I should be the one to test it, this’ll be my only time to play with it.  Plus then you get to be on the computer and ready to hit the kill switch if it tries going blooey.” This was fair, but still required a round of rock-paper-scissors to determine. “Cheater,” Obake muttered as Hiro tugged the pack on. “Hey, Tadashi used it on me, figured I can pass it on,” Hiro said.  “Are we ready?” “I suppose so,” he sighed, looking the programming over.  “All right, activating now.”  Keep a finger hovering near the kill order, watch Hiro furrow his brow in concentration— And then go flying over to the couch. “I’m okay!” Hiro said quickly, a hand up.  “I applied too much pressure!” “So that’s going on the bug list,” Obake said, writing that down.  Flinched when one of the pincers grabbed the table.  “As is that.” “Yeah we definitely have to tone these guys down a bit,” Hiro said, finally getting the arms to push him up gently.  “Okay so back to what I wanted to do….” Obake watched as Hiro used two of the arms to cling to the ceiling, carefully pulling himself up and flipping himself so he was standing on the ceiling instead.  “Ta-da,” Hiro announced, gesturing broadly. “Just don’t think about letting go and falling on your head,” Obake said. “I—you’re not funny, I need you to know this.”

Hiro has been roping Obake into helping him make all the cool things he sees in movies, Obake is willing to go along with it. As for what Tadashi uses to win at rock-paper-scissors...gun beats everything.

BH6 Snippets--2/22/2024

Another seven-page day, that's nice--got a big chunk of it done for Ghost's Reign, feeling my way through some choppy chapters there. Also did some more for the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, and after some heavy discussions on homelessness and Obake's past we get this:

Hiro nodded, looked around…back at Obake.  “So…lemon sharks are named for their color, and cookie cutter sharks are named for the bites they take out of larger fish and marine mammals.” “What are you doing?” “You need a subject change, and you want it to be something you don’t have to pay attention to.” Obake smiled a little, not quite looking at him.  “Remind me again why the megalodon is conclusively extinct.” “They think it’s conclusively extinct,” Hiro countered.  “Because they say something that size would make an impact on the ecosystem that can’t be ignored.  Except we know more about outer space than we do the ocean, and there’s been plenty of instances where an animal was thought to be extinct but wasn’t—the tree kangaroo and the…um…I don’t remember the real name just the Pokémon based off it—Relicanth?” “Coelacanth.” “Yeah, that one.  And then Fred says New Zealand has these moose—meese?—moose, a whole herd that no one’s ever seen, just bits and pieces of evidence like hair or tracks, and then Gogo says that the largest woodpecker in the United States is the ivory-billed woodpecker, and that they’ve never conclusively confirmed that it’s actually extinct because even now there’s theoretical sightings in the south—” “Hold it,” Obake said, squeezing his hand and stopping.  Shine his phone light down several divots, like he was looking for something— “What?” Hiro asked.  “What is it?” “I don’t know,” Obake said, cautiously moving forward again.  “It’s just—we should have been passing people by now.”

Hiro's solution for when people are sinking into bad vibes is to tell them shark facts. And to be fair, I have the same problem Hiro has where I'll immediately picture Relicanth and be calling it by that name instead of Coelacanth, which consistently escapes my recollection.

More BH6

This one’s been on my computer for a bit, part of the reason being that I was stuck on my laptop for the past two/three months.  Saying that, finally finished up “The Fate of the Roommates” which then joined up with stuff I had finished ahead, we’re currently at 45 consecutive chapters and now working on “Something Fluffy,” so have a scene from that ‘episode.’ XD

No seriously did Hiro ever use Baymax as a CSI and if he didn’t why not.

So!  The sequel is currently sitting at 450 pages, 45 consecutive chapters, and 186K+ words—we’re six pages and 8K off from surpassing the original with ten episodes left to address, not counting the ‘bridge events’ I want to address with fleshing out season 2 some more. *puts on sunglasses* Let’s do it.

YEAAAAAAAH!

More BH6

So what prompted this originally was a member of the Straggler’s Club doing a contest for hero outfits for other characters aside from the team, and I decided to take this as an opportunity to do Tadashi and Obake’s outfits in the Live and Learn series.  Look now, these will likely be the last things I ever do for that group—wish it was more fun, but the founder turned it into their personal therapy session and if I’m getting roped into that then I better dangsight be getting paid for it.

*ahem* Moving on, did up Tadashi’s outfit first because the closest I’ve gotten to nailing it down was a sketch for his outfit in The Aken/Hamada Collective series, and that version’s a little edgier because he’s got more of a chip on his shoulder in that AU.  Orange was always a given color for him since that’s the color missing from the team’s lineup, while the rest of it’s mostly inspired by baseball players and samurai.  Also wanted a sunnier look compared to my initial TA/HC design that sort of paired up with Honey Lemon’s, while at the same time taking Hiro’s magnetized design since in this AU Tadashi’s the one riding around on Baymax.  Tadashi’s particular weaponry also ends up being somewhere between Wasabi’s and Obake’s in Obake Itoko, where he has the electric sword and shield to go with the magnets.  As for the gloves and tinted visor, that’s something that Obake insisted on across the board, he is not going to jail because he’s stuck working with idiots.

Also figured I’d do Obake’s outfit as well, since it ends up being a little different and souped-up compared to how it appears in Obake Itoko.  As it is, I also ended up consolidating some design aspects across a couple different iterations, which also requires showing a little more detail to the back since I hadn’t shown that angle yet.  And, unlike in Obake Itoko, Obake is the one who designed this and therefore it has more edge.  Saying that, the only bits he started out with is the virus touch, the Buzz-Lightyear-style hacking tools in the arm armor, and the Robotnik gloves from the first Sonic movie; everything else were ideas the Hamada brothers had and decided to test on him, in order being the Doc Ock arms, the jetpacks (we’re getting the Mad Jacks in the sequel, boys), and the Shadow the Hedgehog shoes, which were mostly from me being totally stoked for the third Sonic movie just a few more months—and you can see in the corner the sketches for the shoes...done from memory.  I drew a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog stuff when I was little.  Saying all that, Obake tolerates all this because he prefers dealing with things from a distance and this enables that, although he has added some extras to the armor.  And yes he’s insisting on the tinted visor and gloves for the whole team he is not going to jail because of them—although it’s not quite enough to hide the SK in his face when he gets peeved.

So!  The sequel is currently sitting at 453 pages, 45 consecutive chapters, and 188K+ words—we’re three pages and 6K off from surpassing the original with ten episodes left to address, not counting the ‘bridge events’ I want to address with fleshing out season 2 some more.  We’re getting closer....

Felt like elaborating more on this post--and also because I couldn't get the second image out of my head. XD Do love how this implies that the boys will behave for Aunt Cass but as soon as Tadashi's left in charge all bets are off. X'D

As before, I'm not a fan of the chibi style but since this was such a simple concept I went for it (although it being closer to the Animal Crossing style baffles me because I've never played those games). Also I don't doubt that Hiro had a harness when he was little and that Tadashi still pulls it out when he's making a point he's looking into one for Obake too.

So we have reached 300 pages on the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, I count this as a win :D

We're at 20 consecutive chapters and have technically knocked out another episode because I read the summary for "Mini-Maximum Trouble" and went "...wait, what do you mean they didn't make Mini-Max waterproof to begin with?"

So that's x-ed out and we're moving on to taking more little notes in the margins

But in the meantime enjoy a little sneak peek from the "Fear Not" episode:

Wasabi once again gave them a lecture in the garage with chair set up in imitation of the lecture hall, although he gave up on the origami swans about halfway through when he’d catch himself focusing on that more than the lecture. “It’s a nice idea, but it takes too much focus,” Wasabi said, tossing a half-done swan away. “Hmm,” Hiro noised, affecting a pondering pose.  “Wait, I think I got something—be right back.” Tadashi waited until Hiro was gone to raise his hand.  “Shouldn’t you have made sure he had a hall pass?” “I think you’re getting too much enjoyment out of this,” Obake observed. “I mean if we want to get technical he’s the first one in our group to get a job.” “Actually I do Uber rides during the summer,” Wasabi said.  “So this really doesn’t count.” “And don’t you work in your aunt’s cafe?” Gogo asked. “Yeah but I don’t really get paid,” Tadashi said.  “Wait, Wasabi, are you getting paid for this?” Wasabi looked like he was about to answer—considered this.  “I...actually don’t know I’m kind of afraid to ask.” “Ta-da,” Hiro announced, bouncing back into the garage and holding two toys in front of Wasabi.  “Choose your Pokémon.” Wasabi took the toys, looking politely baffled—fiddled with them before handing the Woobat back to Hiro.  “This one,” he said, deciding on the Groudon.  Hiro nodded, returned to his seat, waved for Wasabi to continue. “Well?” he asked when Wasabi finished. “Weirdly this helped,” Wasabi said, looking at the Groudon and playing with the little switch that moved it into a roaring pose.

The toys are based off of ones on my desk and I did play with the Groudon one during my latest job interview to help bleed off some of the nervous energy.

October Snippets--10/4/2024

Ah, done early, I missed being on my big computer and this means I can dedicate my evening to playing Palworld. \.o./

Moving on, got some writing done for Ghost's Reign, The Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, AND the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, have some from that last one:

“Don’t worry, we’ll get him.  It’s one guy against seven smart people—” “You’re really counting Fred?” “Fred figured you out,” Hiro pointed out.  “We’ll get him.  He’s just one guy.” “One guy with all sorts of resources and no pesky morals to hold him back.” “Please, we’ve been busting bad guys for months now—if he does have resources, they’re reduced.  We’re not throwing freshly-made gear on and running out after him, we’ve got this.” Obake snorted at this, looked at Hiro...saw the steel that laid him low the first time, this last time—that inner strength against adversity, that he thought he had destroyed when he robbed him of his destiny by saving Tadashi. “Good thing we’re clever then,” he sighed finally, pushing himself up.  Gave Hiro a look.  “Don’t be asking me if I’m all right fifty-seven times today.” “Only if you’re like, obviously brooding,” Hiro said.  “You act like you’re some Victorian novel protagonist.” “And since when do you read Victorian novels?” “I saw the movies, I’m pretty sure the books aren’t any different.” “We’re going to have to go to the local library later so I can prove you wrong, I doubt SFIT stocks Jane Eyre.”

Obake was evenly balanced in his nerdy genius studying, meantime Hiro's grade school nemesis was English class.

BH6 Snippets--7/18/2024

Eyy, been a while!

So this morning I spent a good couple of hours redoing the outline for Live and Learn 2/Ready To (Live Life Anew), AKA the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, mostly because my original outline was getting messy and I could feel the headache I was writing myself into. And now that I have a new outline all ironed out, have some stuff fresh off the presses!

So if you asked him outright he’d deny it but Obake was starting to really like helping Cass in the kitchen, to the point that it had gone from a convenient way to duck out of patrol to something he actually looked forward to.  Not to mention that he actually did enjoy the final product, it wasn’t on the level of permanence that his machines enjoyed, but it was something that gave him a sense of accomplishment, no matter how small. Especially when he started getting into the vibe that Cass had been trying to encourage him on, on being confident enough that when he did a recipe he was familiar with he forwent consulting the recipe and the measurement devices and, as she put it, eyeballed everything.  Recipe in question being the pickled cucumber salad, which was second only to the pickled radishes in his estimation.  Finish filling the jar, tighten the lid, shake it up as he took it to the fridge, tap it once it was inside and try to smother his glee at having something to look forward to. “I saw that,” Cass teased as she took a tray of buns by.  “You’re starting to get into this, aren’t you?” “I can neither confirm nor deny this,” he said, shutting the fridge. “You like it,” she confirmed, grinning at him before putting the buns in one of the cases.  Look up when the door rang—“Hey—oh my gosh what happened to you guys?” Obake came around, drawn by her concern, saw Tadashi and Hiro looking a little rough as Baymax came in behind. “Uhhh rogue roller skates,” Tadashi offered.  “We went to the skating park with Gogo, she talked us into trying it, and we might have wiped out.” “We bladed too close to the sun,” Hiro agreed.

Actually the boys encountered Supersonic Sue but close enough. As for the pickled cucumber salad, its a jar of sliced cukes with vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, salt, and sugar added and then allowed to sit in the fridge for a few hours; I've been making it daily I love it so much. :D

Also today I learned that forwent was an actual word, honestly I was expecting the little red squiggle because it sure doesn't sound like a real word.

Working on the sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself some more

I've mentioned how noodly trying to tie the two separate halves of season two is, to the point that the second half of season two might as well be called season three (both halves are eleven episodes long, according to netflix that counts *bricked*)

So in my sketchbook I have the two halves written side-by-side with notations and circles and strikethroughs whenever I finish an episode, but in the fic itself I've taken to doing this:

Now I got beef with Word but I do enjoy some of the features, such as this:

This being the sidebar with the chapter headers, which I can then label to correspond with the episodes and then shuffle around easier if it needs shuffling

So anyway this has been going well, will be breaking 300 pages soon, now to get back to work seeing as how I still have fifteen episodes that need addressing (maybe finishing up some of the ones listed will help)

More BH6

Now usually today I draw Stitch because of course it’s 6/26 but after watching Lilo and Stitch again with Mom I had to do this exchange. XD

Granted I don’t have it labeled with a specific story but if I had to guess it takes place in the Live and Learn AU (AKA the time-traveling Obake AU) because of the combo of Tadashi being alive and Honey Lemon and Gogo being roommates—also Tadashi’s way too chipper here to properly fit into the Aken/Hamada Collective version, where he’s much more serious. ^^;  Also yes that’s Stitch on his hat. XD

Anywho banged this out in about an hour, happy Stitch Day and enjoy the existential dread regarding the passage of time and the knowledge that that movie came out 22 years ago. D:

I've been asked about a sequel and I am currently working on it--this one took me a year of solid writing once I got the thread down and started working (had been picking at it before then) so don't expect it anytime soon.

But in the meantime...finished fic! Enjoy! :D

BH6 Snippets--2/21/2024

So today was pretty productive, got a fic named so it could get out of one of the catch-all docs, got Tekko Obake up past 100 pages, and...more work on that sequel to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, AKA the time-travel Obake AU:

Despite everything, Hiro started coughing out a laugh.  “Since when did you watch Kung-Fu Panda?” “If you’re proposing another movie marathon I’m going back to being dead.” “No you’re not.”  Look up at the monster rooting through the dumpster, ignoring them both.  “He…you saved my life.”  Look at Obake.  “I…he could have really hurt us, but he didn’t.” Obake pointed at him.  “We are not keeping it.” “No think about it,” Hiro said, hauling him up.  “He stopped me from being a street pancake, he had you in his mouth and didn’t hurt you—I don’t think he’s dangerous.” They watched as the monster flipped the dumpster down, ripping a trash bag open and going to town on the refrigerator refuse. “Just…really hungry,” Hiro added. “We’re still not keeping it,” Obake said.  “I have objections to pets that can kill me.” “I’m guessing you didn’t watch Monsters, Inc. either.” “Hiro.” “Okay, just—don’t panic,” Hiro said—to him or the monster wasn’t clear, considering he was easing up to the latter with his hands up by his shoulders.  The monster looked up at him, snorted—“Don’t panic don’t panic don’t panic….”  Grimaced as he half-put a hand out, looking away—okay no sorry Hiro this was going in the panic folder—bumped into Hiro’s other hand, outstretched his way—grab him and get ready to tug him away— Right as the monster closed its eyes and bumped its nose against Hiro’s other hand. Hiro opened his eyes, looked—started one of those breathy I could have died but I didn’t giggles as he rubbed the monster’s snout.  “Oh just wait until I tell Fred about this.”

So recently watched the episode "Prey Date," that this bit takes place in...and when Hiro had the realization after Knox saved him from falling my first comment was "do the Toothless touch." Obake, meanwhile, is either too young or just the right age to be having a heart attack, either way it's got Hiro written all over it.
