at 17 i went into the flea market beside my work for a cinnamon as i did most saturdays. i decided to take a different route through the old building that reeked a fierce mixture of incense and shitty weed. im going to go past the lady with one hand who bakes pies so i can get a smell but also selfishly take a glance at the nub that was in place of where her hand shouldve been. i dont know why i wanted to look at it again cus it always made me a little upset and filled me with more questions every time. to my backhanded relief she wasnt there that day and in her place was a large ugly blue tarp that covered the whole booth to signify that she was closed for the weekend. as i was about to round the corner to get my weekly cinnamon fix from the kid i went to high school with, a shiny, aggressively angular, jet black object that was poking out around the wall from which it was hanging on. i knew this could be no other than the bc rich warlock... i figured with one there is many. i quickened my pace, trying not let the sole of my rotted combat boots fall into anymore pieces than they already have; i needed them for the rest of my shift. sure enough as i unknowingly almost ran towards the small 20 x 20 booth i was greeted not only by a very pleasant mexican fellow and his daughter (who doubled as his translator) but also a jam packed studio full of budget and high end music machines and pedals. as i was scanning the sight my eye snapped onto this... almost as if it was waiting there patiently for me to swing by eventually and notice it. "thats ian mackayes guitar!" i exclaimed maybe a little too loud, and the gentleman responds in a thick accent "Hello Ian!". i was too excited to correct him however i had some embarrassment thinking that he genuinely thought i just shouted my name as an introduction. i quickly asked his wonderful daughter if he was able to pull the guitar down for me which he, and she, obliged. it was in beautiful condition however i knew this wasnt the exact year as ians. i was informed this was a 2002 remodel of the 1969 gibson sg (ians was a earlier remodel of the same model). "six hundred dollars" he shouts putting a up seven well worn fingers. i looked at his daughter for price confirmation and she as well held up seven, more delicate, fingers. too much i couldnt afford that. i was distraught. i thought about the guitar a bit too much over the next few days and settled on a hail mary of an idea. the next saturday i showed up again with my attitude very similar to the sight of the pie ladies hand, i was praying the guitar was there but at the same time i knew it was a poor financial decision but who am i to make proper ones. now for my far fetched plan. i waled up to his empty repair table, took my gig bag off my back and unloaded my silver sparkly ibanez 270 with a floyd rose on it onto his bench. a pitched the idea of a straight trade which i knew he wouldnt be too fond of. he points at my 270, then holds up two fingers and points at the sg. i knew exactly what he meant and i took off to one of the many atms around the building and pulled out 200 dollars in 20s and spread them beside the blinding ibanez. he smiled and got his ladder to pull down my now ian mackaye redish brown stained sg. i got it home as impatient as a ten year old at 6 am on christmas morning.

its an absolute powerhorse, a true ak 47 of a guitar. maybe a couple regrettable stickers and definitely not in the same shape as when i first held it but ive aged a few years along with it so it would be hypocritical to be disappointed.

My burgeoning collection of Goat Guns 1/3rd scale weapons. For those that haven't seen them, Goat Guns are 1/3rd or 1/2.5th scale (the 1911 pistols) non-firing guns. They're die-cast metal and arrive as kits, and most have working parts like the slides or charging levers, while some like the pistols also feed dummy rounds. In addition to the guns themselves, GG also sells accessories, dummy rounds, and storage options.

Accuracy Int'l L96A1 bolt-action .308 riffle. This is the "camo" version, with hydro-printed digital camo. I've added self-adhesive bandage wrap in a similar pattern around the scope, barrel, and bipod.

AR-15 with the "Master Key" shotgun, Taclight, carry handle, and MILSPEC busttstock. I've posed this one with a box of dummy rounds.

Another AR-15, this time with a grennade launcher, mini-red dot scope, grip, and doubled magazines. The silencer and magazines are wrapped with "urban" pattern wrap, and the pistol grip and stock have black gaffer's tape.

SIG Sauer MCX. This is the "Concrete" version, thought it also comes in black. The suppressor can be removed to show the flash-hider, and the stock folds.

The nation of Honduras has struggled for years, they have a bad economy and has always been seen as an inferior country compared to the countries near it, especially the United States. America has exploited Houndras for many years, controlling their government and having many bases in Houndras. Honduras had enough and the government became corrupt, the police and military took orders from themselves. The government started to kidnap government officials, mainly foreign officials that are in Honduras. They harmed and captured innocent citizens and raided people's homes. This forced many of the citizens to flee the country or leave the area.

The government in Honduras began so corrupt, the military officials and police no longer protected and served they began to protect themselves. Just like the saying “every man for themself” they began to follow and if you didn’t join their movement then you would face the consequences. For an average citizen life in Honduras is hard, you can trust no one, not even the people who were made to protect.

After reading the first 50 pages for my final Independent Reading it made me realize the life I maybe could’ve had. My mom lived in Honduras all her life with my brothers and sister a couple of months before I was born my mom fled the country to America for a better life. I understand why, Honduras is a country that is hard to succeed in, America may not be perfect but it has given many opportunities to my mom. If my mom stayed in Honduras she would have been just a housewife to a farmer but in America, she was able to raise a family, own a house, and open up her own business. I am grateful for my mom for all the things she has been through and I am going to appreciate her more because she sacrificed a lot and took a risk for my family and never gave up.
