two years. it's been two years since you appeared in Teyvat, the world you're supposedly the Creator of- two years since you were torn away from friends, family, and everything you've ever known to be thrown into a game you liked to play. two years since you woke up in a sunny grass field, the familiar hills of Mondstadt greeting you as you opened your eyes.

two years since you first found yourself under the blade of characters you adored, hatred and fury in their eyes, and they only continued to hunt you when you escaped by the skin of your teeth the first time, then the second, and third.

the first year was terrible, filled with fear and hunger and the thick blood that fell whenever your skin was broken, gleaming an odd golden color- the darkness of life only broken by a chance meeting with one of the most battle hungry people of Teyvat- your favorite Harbinger, the Young Lord Tartaglia

except, he wasn't Tartaglia, at least not his human form. instead you met Foul Legacy, who had been searching for you ever since you arrived, the Abyssal corruption in his blood lowering to a soft hum in your presence, and the way his single eye shone with delight upon seeing you allowed your heart hope, just a little bit.

now arrives the second year you've spent in Teyvat- instinctively you remember the month and day, although not quite the hour, and awaken to Foul Legacy snuggling his face into the crook of your neck, purring and crooning when he sees your eyes slowly blink open. he nudges your hands gently, claws tracing over the innumerable scars you've received whilst being hunted and tracked by nonbelievers- but Foul Legacy knows. he knows who you are, has heard your voice during weekly sparring sessions, and he's determined to protect you.

when he dips his head to press his maw against the back of your hand, you know Tartaglia is there, too.

your smiles are rare, but less so around Foul Legacy, and you give him one now, met with a joyful chirp and a pair of strong arms wrapping around your waist. the first year was terrible- but the second year was bearable. perhaps this year, the third, will be the one where you stop merely surviving in Tevyat and begin to live with Foul Legacy at your side.

There was a prolonged silence, your back to him, you couldn’t bear looking at him right now, no. You didn’t want him to see the hot tears that stained your face, seeing his face would ruin it all.

The facade that you were putting up would crumble at the sight of him, the will to leave would fade away if you looked at his face. You knew it.

It hurt, it stung like a hundred wasps, knowing that he was behind you with the most distraught face, bottom lip trembling as he reached out to you, you felt his fingertips brush your shoulder and you shuffled forward, trembling as you dodged his touch.

“Can we… talk about this…? Please darling…?” His voice was so small, so broken just by your words, oh how badly you wanted to turn around and kiss away his tears, tell him it was a joke, that you would never leave him.

But you had to. You had to put up the facade of not loving him, of not wanting to turn around and squeeze all of his worries away with a hug. No, you had to stay firm…

But the way your body was trembling as you let the words escape told so much, “I’m sorry Childe, please leave.”

“My darling, my love, please. Tell me your joking, please, let me hug you… whatever I did wrong… please let me work to undo it. Please, I beg of you.”

You could feel how your heart was shattering, keeping your back to him as you walked to the door… but you had to, for the sake of your heart, you couldn’t deal with the anxiety and frights he gave you… not anymore…

You opened the door, pressing your forehead against the door, unable to contain the sobs that escapes your throat, somehow managing to choke out; “please, leave Childe, this is hard enough as is, don’t make it harder.”

He silently trudged to the door, looking at you with his own tears rolling down his cheek, leaning in, just for a moment to kiss your temple, whispering a soft, “I love you.”

Before he walked out the door, allowing you to close it, back to the door as you slowly slid down it and broke into tears.

On the sands of the Outer Ring, the rev of a motorcycle engine and cheering echoed out. Lighter weaved out of the way of the Hollows and other objects, leaving clouds of sand behind as Ajax hugged his waist from behind.

“Lighter, doesn't this feel nice?” He asked, making sure his ‘shades’ wouldn't fall off. Lighter laughed a bit.

“If I knew you didn't break your motorcycle for who knows how many times again, yeah, it would feel nice,” he got a playful, dramatic scoff and squeeze of the waist as a response, Ajax resting his head on Lighters shoulder.

“I have to get off of it in cool, dramatic ways to start a fight, it's not my fault it keeps sliding into walls!” The sudden rev of Lighters motorcycle made Ajax cling onto him, eyes wide as he screamed slightly in surprise.

Lighter took a quick glance back at Ajax, a soft smile pulling at his lips before looking forward again, laughing a bit. Still going fast, Ajax decides to get an idea there, and while making sure his legs had a safe grip on the motorcycle, he put his hands on Lighters shoulders and brought himself up, no longer sitting down.

“WOOOO!!” he cheered, the movement startling Lighter a bit, but he managed to keep his motorcycle steady. He heard Ajax laugh loudly before his arms wrapped around Lighters neck, still laughing — and not sitting.

“That was nice to let out.”

“You're lucky you didn't make us crash into a Hollow while you did that,” he teased, obvious he had slowed down a bit more than before, red scarf still waving behind them.

“Maybe you should do it one time.”

“I'd rather not,” Lighter replied, staying focused on driving the motorcycle but also on how Ajax who practically was draping himself on him. He sure wasn't making it easy to hide his crush on him.

you've been a student at the Akademiya for a few years now, joining the Rtawahist Darshan to pursue your dream of studying the stars and everything above Teyvat. most people commended you for your study habits- others called you "too enthusiastic" or "nosy" due to your habit of covering all bases. you simply would respond that it wasn't exactly your fault that so many mysteries of the sky were rooted in structures and ruins on Teyvat- you'd go to the darkest depths if it meant unveiling even one well-kept secret.

so it really shouldn't have been a surprise when you eventually did end up uncovering a secret- a big fluffy purple secret.

to be honest, you're not even sure how it happened. one minute you were exploring some ruins, solving puzzles, and deciphering scrambled text on the walls, and the next moment there's a huge monster looming over you, mask-like face gleaming crimson even in the dim light. except it doesn't seem to want to attack or harm you at all, merely shaking the dust from its fur and kneeling to your height to get a closer look. apparently the creature likes what it sees, too, because its singular crystalline eye shines in delight as it lets out what sounds like a purr, and tentatively you crack a smile to be met with a joyful chitter.

this odd beast- Foul Legacy, you soon learn- follows you into the daylight, despite how the sun hurts his eye from so long spent in the dark. he's curious about everything, nudging at the books in your hands and watching as you scribble down key phrases and sketches and most of all, never leaving your side. and you, in all your tired scholarly glory, hesitantly pat his head and allow him to stay- he's not hurting anyone, although you're not sure how in the world you're going to get him into the Akademiya, since neither of you seem to want to leave the other behind.

seems that you did unearth a mystery, although not from the stars as you hoped to- no, from the Abyss at the very bottom of Teyvat.

i’ve seen some people make posts about their tav’s having character quests as if they were origin characters and well…

virvan and ajax simply wouldn’t have companion quests in any of the acts because neither of them have gone more southern than waterdeep

ajax grew up in the freezing cold mountains of icewind dale (he originated from my first dnd character that i made for my first campaign my friend ran that was the rime of the frostmaiden)

virvan just never really left waterdeep because he didn’t need to or really want to he was chilling (it does mildly annoy me that you’re forced into being a baldurian when you’re playing as a tav i think it’d be cool if they added some cities you could be from and dialogue options to go with it)

there’s literally no one and nothing for them in baldur’s gate other than sorting out the absolute bullshit
