Numen, "Love" of Jormag, the scion of Ice. Also known as "The One Who Opens the Door". (He/They)
I don't have their norn design (nor name) yet, but imagine the most innocent blonde boy of short stature with striking blue eyes and the softest smile :) Character backstory below cut! Pspspspsing at all angst hound Commanders out there!!
An orphan rescued from an abandoned village in the Deep Shiverpeaks. Though losing entire settlements to the savage Sons of Svanir was a common occurence, there were no signs of attack, no blood, no slaughter, it just seemed like the inhabitants simply got up and left merely moments before a norn patrol arrived to rest at the local inn. Doors and windows were open, rendering interiors freezing.
The child, naturally, had no known name and was of an unsettlingly pale complexion. He was taken in by the warriors and brought to Hoelbrak, where he grew up more or less normally.
Though he did fit in, he was frail and unfit to pursue his legend, or even be a hunter, despite clearly wanting to. Instead, he was an elementalist with the rare affinity for ice, something the elders theorized to be a result of the near death experience in his infancy.
The boy joins the Commander's party relatively early on, perhaps as an adoptive younger sibling/childhood friend to Braham, and makes himself useful with his unique magic. It's during S3 that things begin to get weird, with Jormag stirring from slumber leading the young man to run off as though following a silent call, before eventually returning seemingly with no memory of whatever happened.
During IBS, he starts acting even weirder, with people mysteriously going missing when left alone with him, as though spirited away. The Commander and Braham confront him, wishing to get to the bottom of what's happening to their friend, only for the reveal to happen.
He was never a norn, but the shapeshifter Numen, the One Who Opens the Door. Every cycle this happens, the scion's memory is wiped and they're found and taken in by the living races, they come to be loved, grow into an identity, only for that love to become everyone's downfall. In Jormag's own words,
"You'll sleep now, and be their child. But you will always wake, and be my child first."
The character could go a traditional villainous betrayal route or (maybe preferably) an "I never wanted this but I can't refuse my creator" tragic route. Two personalities fighting inside, the servant of the Ice Dragon and the personality developed during his time in Hoelbrak and then, with the party. But most importantly, the Commander has to make a choice between saving many people via slaying Numen during a Dragon Response mission or trying to save him, in whatever way they might devise.
Naturally, if they do slay him, Jormag's only got one thing to say: "I see you're more than willing to discard love... if it only aligns with your heroic ideals. Weighing lives on a scale when patience cannot be afforded. Well, no matter. Raven taught you well. I wonder just how easily you could do the same to Aurene?"
"Tell me, o Commander of Tyria, what's worth more to you? The world, or her?"

roles ardesia prince's source character's actor she's taken from other than her source character himself:
absolem - like b4 she found out she was a girl - and this was years ago like 2020-2021?? she showed up - this was like her kneejerk replacement character but wasn't really happy about it until she basically underwent a huge personal overhaul as of recent. she still retains the hookah smoking and the butterfly motifs, turning that into being one of the kindly ones (only in looks really)
alexander dane / dr. lazarus - incidentally being part of a spaceship crew themed system kind of just makes this connection by itself. also technically an alien in terms of species based on the external media she latches onto based on similarities to herself (the little prince and al-an from the funny ocean game)
mesmer - her '''''spellwork''''' in separation from her source while still being in conjunction with her role isn't actually magic it's meant to be entirely placebo / changing states of mind only. also she just really likes the look of this one. takes a lot of her looks from this guy
metatron - she actually acts almost exactly like him personality wise. snarky but not like in a brooding edgy way but in an understanding benevolent way yk if you wanna know what she's like conversationally in our head it's specifically the clip where he's talking at a table with the rest of the film's protagonists. like after she showed up back here in 2024 that basically her. also does he have some kind of eyeshadow on here??? cause even if she's not big on makeup she kind of has it. it's really subtle
#system tag#we've only seen aiw/attlg admittedly#alan rickman#<- this guy gotta have a tag or smth??? look she's a huge stan and i guess i am too#for good reason like in general but she still feels weird about it all#like imagine being an actor and one of your biggest stans having the same face and voice as you

MP100 WONDERLAND AU!!!
I will probably never write a real fic for this, so I'm gonna explain the general plot and ideas and lore and stuff as a way to introduce each character. Or you can just not read and look at the designs instead
Ritsu is our Alice,
and Sho is the rabbit he chases after. Unlike the white rabbit, Sho isn't anxious - he's mischievous more than anything. While he IS trying to be on time to the Queen's croquet game at first, teasing Ritsu as he fails to catch up with him becomes his main priority.
Tome and Goda (do people in this fandom call him musashi or goda?? i have never seen anyone talk about him) are the first characters Ritsu meets. They play the roles of the mouse and the dodo from the book. After the whole pool of tears thing - I'm assuming you know the general story of Alice in Wonderland - Tome infodumps at everyone, much like the mouse does in the book. Goda is basically like "that's BORING we should EXERCISE the water off of us" and then the caucus race happens!!
The scene where Alice gets stuck in the Rabbit's house does happen but I have no character assigned to Bill so I didn't draw anyone for this.
Next stop is the caterpillar!! Played by Dimple. He's the ghost of a caterpillar that looked forward to becoming a butterfly, but died before reaching the chrysalis stage, and has since become a little crazed about the butterfly idea. He finds Ritsu kind of annoying but keeps talking to him because he enjoys the attention.
Mezato is the Cheshire cat! Psycho Helmet is not a thing in Wonderland so her time is more devoted to being mysterious and cryptic and taking photos of people and things. Plays the cheshire cat role pretty straight.
And now! The moment everyone's been waiting for! The three characters that people usually care the most about in aiw AND mp100.
Reigen started the hat business with his good pals Serizawa and Mob and then went a little bonkers. The Queen sentenced him and his coworkers/friends to eternal teatime for being annoying basically. (There IS lore there, but aiw is my special interest and i could talk about that forever.) He's still very Reigen-y but always a little on edge. Basically, think about Reigen's most high-energy yet pathetic little meow meow moments, it's just that.
Serizawa is just like - imagine you teleported Serizawa into the March Hare's place without warning and he just had to figure out what to do about it. That's not what happened, but that's basically how he behaves.
Mob is the dormouse, but like the book version of the dormouse, he gets his time in the spotlight. (anyone out there know about the three girls in the well?? no? just me?) Because this is Ritsu's dream, nobody needs to wonder whether mousemob is humanritsu's brother. Just don't worry about it
Finally, we have Teru as the Queen of Hearts. His personality definitely matches his pre/during-that-fight-with-mob self. Violent, self-absorbed fashion disaster. Sho, being his messenger, has a very "siblings who kind of hate each other" dynamic with this Teru, in my eyes.
That's it!! If anyone wants to write or draw a wonderland au based on this casting, that's totally fine because I in no way own the idea of a wonderland au. That's like, the most basic "what if this media was actually this other story?" au concept.
#oh boy i gotta tag all this...#m100#mob psycho 100#alice in wonderland#alice's adventures in wonderland#alice in wonderland au#wonderland au#mp100 au#ritsu kageyama#sho suzuki#tome kurata#musashi goda#mp100 dimple#reigen arataka#serizawa katsuya#shigeo kageyama#teruki hanazawa#white rabbit#blue caterpillar#cheshire cat#mad hatter#march hare#dormouse#queen of hearts#my art#WHOO thats a lotta tags

having villains in DLV seems weird at first until you learn what the lore is behind the valley. in canon, the entire game is a make-believe world you created as a kid where you were able to escape to and be friends with disney characters that you like. i can't remember why, but you suddenly return to this place as an adult. it's like alice finding out wonderland wasn't just her imagination in the live action AIW if you feel me
so having the villains kinda makes sense, because they're not exactly their og canon selves. they're specific versions you imagined to be your friend and live in your little make believe town. they tolerate you and warm up to you and treat you special because its a lil self insert thing where you're EVERYONE'S friend
that being said. why the FUCK is mother gothel here?
who the fuck wants to be friends with mother gothel? she's arguably the most detestable disney villain of all time. and even in the game's lore, she doesn't get any cute humanizing moments with your character. she just belittles you and acts like a cunt. who asked for this

I always like to say that Virgil's animal is a spider but I honestly wouldn't mind if it was a crow because
they're used in writing to represent coming misfortune
it means he could have wings (and very cool looking wings at that)
the idea of Virgil really liking shiny objects is cute (imagine his reaction when he first saw his glittery purple eyeshadow in a mirror)
crows can hold grudges up to 17 years which feels very accurate to him
crows hold funerals for members of their group
a group of them is called a murder
fun fact that crows have been shown to know traffic rules and will wait with humans at crossings to cross when the light goes green, that feels fitting to him with his whole play-it-safe outlook
they like puzzles (cough cough Virgil making Logan loads of puzzles cough)
They will steal things from humans (remember the end of card of AA part 2 with the AIW puzzle book?)
they cause many power outages because they steal power lines to make nests (he likes the dark)
etc. there are probably even more similarities I haven't seen yet

Heyo,
I was wondering if there would be a sequel to your buggy in wonderland au fic. I'm assuming the au is based on the 2010(?) movie, which I watched only to know more about your fic because before that I had only watched the 1953(?) animated film and according to that your au made no sense but when I watched the 2010(?) film it made perfect sense.
So basically what I'm asking is if there will be a sequel to this au of yours cause 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' is amazing and it instantly made me think of your fic (as most AiW things do nowadays) and if your are making a sequel I feel that a good plot would be Time (whose identity does not fit any one piece character I know well) being obsessed with Shanks and being jealous of Buggy and trapping Buggy in his past where we actually meet the Buggy Pirates and then Buggy breaks out of the illusion and rescues Shanks and they get present time Buggy Pirates who are really worried about Buggy and theyalllivehappilyeverafterinwonderland.
Sorry for the rant 😅
Anyways, even if you don't have a sequel planned it's no big deal, the idea has just been swimming in my mind for a bit and I had to get it out.
P.S: How did you come up with the 'Buggy in Wonderland AU'?
Hello! The AU is mostly based on the original novels (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass)! Especially things like the roles for the characters (ex. Robin = the Mouse in ch.3 of the novel that talks about history to Alice (sidenote, the Mouse also mentions a poem that really fits as foreshadowing for the trial and I can imagine Queen Shanks being like this to Buggy 🫣) (another sidenote, ch.5 has a poem called Father William and I thought it fits Garp 😂)), but I didn't have the plot follow the same events because I'd get bored if everything has to be exactly the same story and I wanted to throw in my own ideas (merging some roles/titles, the pawn/queen candidacy, etc) + I gave Mugi (the fic writer) a lot of creative freedom on what happens in Buggy's adventure
The part where Buggy comes back to wl is based from the 2010 movie but other than that I can't remember anything else since I last watched it when it came out 😂 so I cant claim that as my main inspo
I made this AU because I really love wonderland themed stuff!! I've read so many alice inspired manga and games too (HNKN my beloved 🫶) so I wanted to draw Buggy in Alice's outfit (someday,,) and at first I planned for Shanks to be Bill the Lizard and that he's secretly the Jabberwock but Red Queen/Queen of Hearts worked out better
Your idea for a sequel sounds interesting! Unfortunately I'm not really into Shanks/anyone-that-isnt-buggy even if it's unrequited so I don't have any thoughts on this 😔
Mugi and I do have some ideas for more fics of this AU and it's mostly going to be about their past since we haven't really touched upon most of the world building I mention in the asks because the main fic was in Buggy's pov 😂 though it might be a while before I start bugging Mugi again into writing this
Here's the poems:

Unreleased Draft #3 • Heart to Heart
King of Hearts! Felix x Royal Gardener! Reader
Synopsis from what I can remember • The king is quite angry because of a certain someone, but noticed an unfamiliar worker in the garden and therefore demands the guard to bring him here to sate his curiosity.
A/N • This is in the bottom of my drafts, constructed sometime in Feb of 2021 which I was in like 4 months of writing I think? 😭 This was my planned valentine special but I had a hard time during that time to make world build this cuz I'm only slightly familiar with Alice in Wonderland but extremely fascinated by so I tried making an AiW inspired fic but genderbent, as you can see instead of Alice, the name said was Alister! TWs - mention of execution and oh its really short again 😭
Author Ratings:
Plot/Creativity - 8.5/10, higher than Divine Amusement cuz I actually wanna see how it unfolds in a way and Felix being a dictator seems like an interesting idea for some reason?!?!?! I can imagine him saying "Off with their head" in his deep voice also I just love Alice in wonderland themes so yeah! Writing Skill / Style: Despite being the oldest draft it's surprisingly good 5.5/10 (honestly much better than Snowswept Tails imo but st has a better thought of plot overall though). Writeability - 8/10 would defo want to write this and my imagination could handle it ig! Just needs a little bit research on Alice in Wonderland.
Your body shook in shock as you almost dropped the glass watering can due to the king’s angry roar being heard around the castle, “Just another normal day...” you murmur, continuing watering the plants and the dandelions.
While inside the castle’s meeting room:
“For fuck’s sake! All I ask is that stupid Alister’s head served in a silver platter!” he shouted angrily as the knight’s lips quivered, trying to find the right words to say. “If he is not fucking here tied up and ready to be executed by next Saturday then one of you will take his place you hear me?!” Felix warned dangerously in his deep voice
The knights all fixed their posture and bowed. “Yes, your majesty!” they said in unison, leaving as they were dismissed by a seething king.
Back in the royal garden:
You wonder what got the king so heated up this early morning, you said humming in curiousity as you finished watering the last batch. You sighed, slowly walking towards the gardening shed and as you were looking around, you noticed someone standing on the east balcony of the castle. You took a closer look and squint your eyes hoping to see the silhouette properly.
White hair with a faintly red streaks and royal robes could it be—
You blink twice and saw that it was indeed King Lee Felix, you flinched as you saw him stare back at you, at this you bowed and instantly run to the shed, spouting curses because that was dangerous.
It was dangerous enough to be at the presence of him, but locking eyes with him? Bad luck will run around you since that was what the King is, dangerous and powerful, a living source of bad luck due to a snap of his fingers will get you sent straight to the guillotine.
You grumbled hopelessly, a bit scared, hopefully he forgot...
.
At the sight of the man running, Felix scrunched his eyebrows,
‘‘Who was that?’’
He commanded a guard to bring him who’s in charge of taking care of the garden today. The guard instantly fixed his slouched posture and nodded repeatedly, “O-Of course, your Majesty..” he bowed before running somewhere.
He deemed the male quite interesting.

Beifong babies ask like you asked <3
I feel as if the person I’ve seen you least talk about is Huan. Do you have any thoughts on him, either in relation to Kuvira or his interest in art? I’m sorry I can’t be more specific rn, my brain is…very frazzled. as expected 😭
I actually have SO MANY thought about Huan, I just never had the time and place to file them away. I've always liked Huan, and thought he could've been an incredibly intriguing character with a lot of potential. I can confidently say he probably was concieved primarily as a gimmick character, a bit of a jab at 'edgy', modernist artists. However, Huan has a lot of potential as a character and an exploration of themes.
First of all, Huan is interesting becaus he is one of the few "pacifist" benders of the show. This is especially intriguing due to him coming from a family with such a prominent amount of bender fighters. I wonder if he ever felt pressured to be a fighter too, or if he feels inadequate due to following a different path.
I personally like to think that Su gently pushed Huan to be fighter too, when he was a child, due to her own upbringing, which I imagine had Toph valuing her daughters careying on her legacy. But Huan was too much of a tender and sensitive soul, and didn't like the idea of destroying or fighting. I like to think he spent a lot of time with Aiwei, who nurtured his individualism, talents and hobbies. I like to think Aiwei was the one to help convince Su to let Huan pursue his artistic interests.
Due to this, Huan and Aiwe were always pretty close when Huan was growing up. So I think Huan ended up absorbing some of the Red Lotus' teachings about individuality and freedom.
For some reason, I think Huan would be a good big brother to his younger siblings. He cares a lot for Opal, Wei and Wing even if he doesn't show it often. I think for most their lives he just kinda let them do their own thing and was pretty antisocial, until the shit with Kuvira happened. Huan was one of the only people to see how affected Opal and the twins were by the betrayals of Baatar Jr and Kuvira and the danger their family was put in. He also felt srather guilty when his little siblings were out there risking their lives while all he could do was evacuate.
This motivated Huan to step up as a big brother and try to 'defend' them from Suyin trying to 'fix' the family and Baatar and Kuvira.
I also like that he seems so good with kids and enjoys spending time with them. Its a sweet. And it seems like it makes sense that he would value Ikki's childish doodles, since children just playing with colours and shapes is a very pure form of creativity.
Huan's relationship with freedom of self expression and individuality is also domething that caught my attention, especially in relation to Kuvira's regime and especially his infamous "crushing my individuality" line.
Sure, this line is objectively really funny, and pretty memeable. But let's add some context that adds themes I'm 78% sure weren't intended.
I've spoken at length about how Kuvira draws heavily from the Soviet union. I've also probably mentioned how my high school had a focus on humanistics, particularly Polish literature, although what I'm about to discuss extends far beyond Poland. And one of the 'eras' of literature and art that stuck with me the most was the period of time when Poland was the Polish People's Republic, essentially under the thumb of the Soviets. For creativity, it meant what you might expect. Basically, a mandate on almost every piece of music, literature and visual arts to be essentially Soviet propaganda.
I, as you may guess, dislike the time period with a passion. But some of my favourite novels and works of art have come about as a response to the danger the Soviets posed to creativity. It's fascinating to see what creators chose to bend the knee and alter their works to go through rigorous censorship, and what creators chose to resist, often getting blacklisted if not worse.
Many wrote bleak, heartwtenching stories about the death of art in the Eastern Bloc and how it impacted society as a whole. The emptiness of the propagandised happiness, the false idols of theatre and movies, the cheapness of it all, the ridiculous censorship that often contradicted itself.
I think Huan, being an artist could've been a very good vessel for exploring these concepts and storylines, especially with how self expression and creativity is still often censored and attacked irl, most visibly by conservatives in the USA. [Damn I asked for asks on the Beifong babies and weilin to escape the shitshow across the pond yet here I am]
We are especially entering a new era of war on our rights to express ourselves as different groups begin to try to control and restrict how we create and consume content in the still relatively new medium that is the entire internet. This could be something poignat to have been touched on.
These may be concepts that would be difficult to explore in a show like tlok. But atla was able to allude to the concept of propaganda and Huan was the perfect vessel for a mini storyline like this. Exploring Huan's identity as an artist and creator would be a huge benefit to the show, judging by how many people in the fandom have their own creative inclinations and how tlok as a show encouraged us to follow in Korra's footsteps to push through diversity to achieve freedom and enlightenment. Why should self expression by seperate from that equation?
Anyway :/ those are my Huan thoughts which kinda poured out due to how much I've been stewing in them lol. Thanks for the ask I always love recieving them especially if they have something to do with the Beifong Babies. Today was a rough day and I appreciate the distraction and chance to ramble.

Tiny AIW Excerpt…
(This doesn’t guarantee a bigger story in the future, have mercy on me pls /lh)
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆ . . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
(prologue thing?)
They took away everything I had left to hold onto. Everything but them, at least. It almost felt freeing, a relief, in a strange way.
The scent of flowers was thick and sweet to my senses. My thoughts slowly blur together as I drowned in the heavy aroma.
No longer did I have to uphold myself as a person. In this land, responsibility was merely a word. A silly word, at that. I was being offered the chance to be freed from the pressure of my former life on a silver platter by the people who have unfailingly proved their devotion to me again and again. Who would I be to deny them?
Gentle hands of cool metal joints and warm motors take my own of flesh. There is an unspoken promise in our grasps.
Out there, there wasn’t anything waiting for me. Really, I had submitted to my fate long before I came here. Before I met them.
I would miss the surface.. My friends.. My brother..
If I just stayed right where I was, surely I’d be happy. He said so. They both did. And I believe them, as much as they believe in me that I’ll stay. I have nowhere to run, therefore I’d never think to walk.
Here, I’ll be safe. Here, I’ll be happy.

(Main excerpt)
“Sugarcube!~ It’s time for tea!”
I shift as a voice rouses me awake and I groan in protest. I felt so warm… I didn’t want to get up… Get up…
Get up from where?
Eyes snapping open, I sit up, finding myself on a grass and wool-stuffed mattress. A warm blanket made of soft fibers had been wrapped around my body, shrugged off when I began to scan my surroundings.
The room was dimly lit and the air was crisp, making me imagine the walls were made of stone or perhaps bricks. Unfortunately my vision wasn’t the best without my glasses. Candles were lit about the room. There were no windows, but there was a lone door on the far wall. Was I underground?
“There’s my little sunshine!” The same voice from before warbled, followed by the clinking of porcelain. “Come! Come! Before your tea gets cold!”
With bleary vision, I turn toward the voice. At a small wooden table set in the middle of the room sat a familiarly flamboyant red-clad figure with their knees up to their chest as they tried to sit in one of the child-sized chairs. I began shuffling off the bed, brushing myself off.
“M-Mister Hatter?” I mumbled as I walked over. “Wher—“
The Hatter tutted at me before I could finish, placing a delicate finger up to my lips. “Dearest little dewdrop, I told you, you can just call me Sun!”
“Uh, Sun?” I eyed the liquid the bot was pouring into the cups. Yellow flower petals and flecks of green herbs floated prettily along the surface of the unknown brew.
“Hmmm?” Hatter hummed, the swirls in his eyes seeming to glow with warmth at the sound of his name.
“Where am I? I didn’t fall down another hole again, did I?” I rubbed at my eyes. “And have you seen my glasses anywhere?”
“Oh! Those are right here!” Dodging my first question, the Hatter pointed at the other side of the table which sat the other teacup along with the distinct sheen of my lenses against the candlelight. “Come on! Have a sit with this lonely hatter!”
“Ah, right.” I nodded before taking my seat across from the bot, putting my glasses back on once I sat. Ah, vision at last.
The first thing I realized was the room was dingy, dustier than I expected. Before I could really notice any other finer details, Sun piped up once again.
“Very good, my dear,” he praised with a light laugh that made me nearly blush. “Now then, where you are. That’s a simple one!”
I leaned in with anticipation. With a relaxed—almost smug—gaze, the Hatter answered.
“I brought you home.”

sending you an AIW ask, as requested: what theory or analysis about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/ Lewis Carroll annoys you the most?
Hmmmmm that’s hard. Mainly cause there’s so much that annoys me I can’t pick one over the other
I think for theory it may be the whole Lewis Carroll was actually a pedo and in love with Alice Hargreaves. And yes I’m calling it a theory not a fact. But like from what I’ve read(which isn’t much but it’s enough to know about the whole general situation) there isn’t actually much evidence to it????
And this theory gets paired with the fact that he was specifically in love with Alice Hargreaves which has the basis of *checks notes* basically nothing. It’s said that’s what lead to the Liddells breaking contact but also there was a note found that might imply it had smth to do with rumors of him either trying to court their governess or court Lorina, Alice’s older sister. Which seems … contradictory to the narrative trying to be spun. And we do have letters of him asking adult women to go on basically dates with him. I’ve heard people claim that the books are just love letters to Alice which if that is the case these are about the shittiest love letters in existence. Imagine sending someone a book composed of love letters and one chapter has a character call the character they based on their love stupid and constantly write everyone screaming at that character for how “dumb” they are. Like come on guys let’s use our brains here.
Ok but let’s say he really was a pedo. Then it bothers me that the people who claim such things are so disrespectful about it. Like most of them use it as a way to “ruin your childhood” or to use it in their stories to make it spoooooookieeeeerr
Like if Alice was really at risk of being harmed then people are not treating it with respect and are just using it for edgy points like dude gross. It just seems to me that this whole thing is just people not comprehending that an adult man could ever be friends with a little girl and that it must be something sinister which seems more the fault of ours than his.
People who claim this also think that you shouldn’t read the book cause of it but dawg none of that like actually seeps into the books(mainly cause its probably not true but even if it was my point still stands that it doesn’t effect the book unlike J K Rowling with her slaves who like being slaves). Like babes this man has been dead for a long bit he is not benefiting at all from us reading and making adaptations. Chill
For analysis, I would say probably Cheshire being omnipotent of some kind. Mainly because I don’t think that We’re All Mad Here is how the actual world of Wonderland works. That quote is more serviceable to inform us on Cheshire’s thought process than actually informing us about Wonderland. The outcastes weirdo will always be the first to notice that everyone is actually super weird too. Honorable mention goes to that one person that thought that Cheshire ate the pig baby in the books. They also thought The Walrus and the Carpenter was Disney made so that should tell you on whether or not they actually read the book. It made me angry for a whole week but it does make for the basis of a good inside joke

I've been doing another watch-through of Disney's Adventures in Wonderland, in which Reece Holland (Marius in the 1988 2nd National Tour of Les Mis and Joly on the Complete Symphonic Recording) played the March Hare.
Once again, it's been giving me funny thoughts about Holland in those roles.
Just imagine if he had played Marius as the March Hare! Granted, both characters are adorkable, but... in slightly different ways.
That achingly beautiful photo that shows his Marius weeping into Enjolras's lap after Éponine's death also loses some of its sad poignancy when I think of the small handful of times the Hare cries in AIW. I feel tempted to imagine this Marius breaking the somber mood by pulling out a garishly bright-colored hanky and blowing his nose loudly and inelegantly, as the Hare would do.
And because he played Joly on the CSR, I'm tempted to take some Hare and Hatter quotes from the show now and post them as Incorrect Quotes for Joly and Bossuet.

Deltarune is to Undertale what Alice Through The Looking Glass is to Alice in Wonderland
hear me out real quick.
we’re talking specifically about the books which i have read and annotated in full. i don’t have my copies present anymore so i undoubtedly missed some things but there are still SO many similarities thematically, visually, and simply storyline wise. maybe deltarune theories could even be crafted from this concept, idk! i just know ive been thinking this since i first got into deltarune and not enough people talk about it.
fun fact: alice in wonderland was originally called “alice’s adventures underground”……………… yall.
(also to preface i wrote this while high for a friend who doesn’t know anything abt utdr, so that’s why everything is explained in full)
beginning with undertale and alice in wonderland:
both stories begin with a child falling through a hole in the ground to a fully functioning world with completely different ways of life and rules of existence. both of these worlds flip common ideas on their heads, example plants talking as flowey in undertale vs the talking tulips in alice in wonderland. animals talk as well and come to life in their own society, example the monsters vs the white rabbit, the bitchy mouse, the walrus and the dodo bird. both the main characters, frisk n alice, don’t reject this (past the initial confusion in alice’s case, but even then it’s more like wonder (lol get it)) and interact with this. they each see problems in the world and move to save it, with frisk trying to break the barrier and save monsters (in pacifist run) and alice protesting the queen of hearts’ unfair actions! wonderland is portrayed as a world ruled with nonsense and chaos, like the aforementioned idea of flipping everything on its head from the world the protags come from. in frisk’s case this was by monsters, who they didn’t know existed, being essentially the ruling (yet also subjugated) class whereas they were accustomed to humans. these monsters came in the portrayal of animals and plants and other whimsical concepts coming to life, just like the nonsense elements of wonderland. a big aspect of alice in wonderland is the importance of imagination, the question of if there is any real meaning to life, and the tedious routines, while undertale literally uses this in its meta element by requiring the player to submerge themselves (with Imagination) into the game particularly in order to empathize w these characters and complete a pacifist run but even also in a genocide run the game compels the player with strong themes and language to imagine it as something real and to feel guilt for those actions. aiw’s (alice in wonderland)’s concept of the meaning of life can be seen in undertale as treating these characters who the player knows are fictional as real beings who deserve to survive simply out of respect for their existence!!!!! and the save points also bring in the question of if that life in the game has meaning if you can just always go back and redo stuff, which is floweys whole dilemma and how he ends up the way he does because he feels there IS no meaning. this is his lack of soul speaking but i think the save points and their repetitiveness really drive it home. aiw’s theme of the loss of a child’s innocence is obvious in undertale because frisk has to do horrible things and/or make terribly hard decisions no matter which route is taken!!! and even choosing to take a specific route IS making those hard decisions. both have themes of death, flowey and the monsters in the genocide run representing these while alice’s transformation and growth out of the mind of a young girl is death in the way the death tarot card represents it: change. the caterpillar’s mitosis or whatever also represents this. in both alternate worlds death doesn’t have the same appearance it does in the “natural world” in undertale monsters disintegrate and in wonderland time does not pass the same as seen by the mad hatter and the hare. OH AND both seem to have the voice of a helping hand guiding the protag through, for alice it is possibly the very concept of adulthood and for frisk it could be so many different people, gaster? chara? asriel? toriel? toriel would very much symbolize the adulthood aspect but in a much more loving sense than alice’s. asriel and chara as well since they have stopped aging and cannot grow anymore. also sans and the cheshire cat mirror each other change my mind you can’t
deltarune to alice through the looking glass:
the simplest comparison between both is the use of chess as visual AND narrative symbolism. in deltarune we see lancer and the king with the spades, the spade knights, the very concept of the KNIGHT as such a huge aspect with so much mystery surrounding them. in the looking glass, alice enters immediately to a living game of chess and throughout the entire story the red and white queen and their fellow chess pieces are significant characters. this is a reach probably but in both of these stories the protag (kris (and susie) vs alice) enter to their respective worlds which ARE DIFFERENT from the previous ones despite similarities through an entry in the Wall which appears normal and then transforms. for kris n susie it is through a door to the closet and for alice it’s through a mirror. no more holes! this wouldn’t matter i dont think if their prequels didnt both have the protags falling Into holes. the chess-piece characters in each story behave like their respective piece: ex, the king in deltarune not appearing combatively until the card kingdom is threatened vs the knights in the looking glass having a protective role. in each story the protag has to face a world threatening element that THEY ARE PROPHESIED to take on, example deltarune ralsei’s tale of kris susie and ralsei being destined to save the world from the dark fountains being opened vs the jabberwockys threat to the entire world of the looking glass and ALICE BEINR PROPHESIED to destroy it. (as a theory, she does complete this, so i’d like to say it hints to kris ralsei and susie doing the same)
deltarune is to undertale as alice through the looking glass is to alice in wonderland:
the biggest dissimilarity here is that alice is the same character and self in both of her stories whereas kris is completely different from frisk (and who knows about any relation to chara or anyone else). yet both worlds that the protags travel to in both of their two different stories are separate from each other, and although perhaps connected somehow are not really on the same plane of existence as the other (but both get mistaken as otherwise). the og story in both udtr and the alice duology tells the story of growing up and maturing through the challenges the protags had to face, whereas it seems like their sequels are telling a story of the challenges you face once you have finished or made it through a lot of this growth and now have to handle the responsibility and strength that comes with it. it’s of course harder to say for the sequels since deltarune isn’t completed but the similarities between deltarune and through the looking glass are HUGE and GLARING so it could almost be used as a basis for theories i find it very hard to believe none of these huge comparisons are intentional
i gotta mention how deltarune/through the looking glass were the stories with the similarities i saw most that inspired this idea, yet once i got into writing i found SO many in undertale. which just kind of drives the point home.
sorry if any of the info is wrong! i don’t usually go here… but someone else pls agree it drives me insane this isn’t talked about much
#deltarune#undertale#alice in wonderland#alice through the looking glass#this was so long gosh#there’s less written for deltarune because i got into it more recently AND it’s not finished. so.
