Shoto Todoroki x Fem! Reader

CW; Shoto pushing reader to figure out her future, reader is a free spirit, Shoto gets annoyed, talk of shoto being like his dad (it’s for the story i promise), fairly short, healthy relationship with bickering,  based on taylor swift’s “a place in this world” obvi, let me know if i missed anything!

Synopsis; Being at UA usually meant you were going to become a pro hero, but you really weren’t sure what you wanted to do; which drives your goal driven boyfriend, shoto,  up the wall.

Being at UA meant you had the best pipeline into being a pro hero, but you weren’t even sure if that was how you wanted to live. There were so many other career paths; a doctor, a teacher, a business owner. All of them seemed like something you were so much more interested in, but you still weren’t sure.

“You still haven’t decided to be a hero yet?”Shoto, your boyfriend of six months now, was a very goal oriented person and knew exactly what he wanted to do after graduation. Surpass his father as a hero. Maybe someone as carefree and fearless as you shouldn’t have even come into contact with a person like Shoto, but you know the old saying, “opposites attract” or whatever. And while,yes, you and Shoto attracted each other, there were also times where it seemed like you two were the same ends of a magnet, always trying to pull apart due to the force.

That force was your indecisiveness. Shoto, as much as he didn’t wish to admit it, was like his father in very little ways; ways that no one except people who were really close to him would see. The need to be a top hero, the need for his partner to also be a hero, those were what he gained from his father even though he didn’t wish to admit it. “Hmm…nope! Ya know, I could be a daycare worker! I do love kids.” If he didn’t know you better, Shoto could have assumed you were simply doing this to get on his nerves, but you weren’t. You were simply a girl trying to find a place in this world. A place where you wouldn’t be scrutinized over one wrong move, but also a place where you received and gave out affection. A place like that was hard to find, and you weren’t sure you’d ever come into contact with it. 

“Y/N come on, what more do you need? You go to UA, you’re doing a work study, and everyone has seen your quirk from the sports festival! You’re thinking too hard about this. Just become a hero.” and here came the problem with dating a man who knew what he wanted out of life; the constant pressure to figure out what the hell you wanted to do. 

“I don’t know. Seems like a lot of work. What about a pediatric nurse?” You had always loved kids and the medical field seemed like a simpler way of being a superhero, at least to you. “You’re going to change that idea tomorrow.” “Tomorrow's a mystery! You never know~” you gave the boy a small smile, you knew how annoyed he got with you, but luckily he stayed around.

You could only hope he stayed around long enough for you to find your place in this world.
