Your Roadmap to Cracking NDA, AFCAT, and Airforce Selection"
Cracking the NDA (National Defence Academy), AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test), and Air Force X Group exams is a challenging yet rewarding journey for any aspirant who dreams of serving in the Indian Armed Forces. These prestigious exams require a well-structured roadmap, focused preparation, and expert guidance to succeed. This article will guide you through a step-by-step roadmap to cracking the NDA, AFCAT, and Air Force X Group exams. We will also highlight how choosing the Best AFCAT Coaching Institute in Dehradun, Best NDA Coaching after 10th in Dehradun, and the Best Airforce X Group Coaching in Dehradun at DNA Defence can significantly boost your chances of success.
Step 1: Understand the Exam Structure and Eligibility Criteria
The first step towards success is understanding the exam structure, syllabus, and eligibility criteria for the NDA, AFCAT, and Air Force X Group exams. This allows you to target your preparation effectively.
NDA Exam:
Eligibility: Candidates must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years old, have completed their 12th standard, and must meet the physical standards required for NDA.
Exam Structure: The NDA exam consists of two parts – Mathematics (300 marks) and General Ability (600 marks). After the written exam, candidates are selected for the SSB Interview, followed by medical tests.
AFCAT Exam:
Eligibility: For the flying branch, candidates must be between 20 to 24 years, while for ground duty/technical branches, the age limit is between 20 to 26 years. A graduation degree is required.
Exam Structure: The AFCAT exam comprises sections on General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude. Candidates applying for technical branches also have to appear for the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).
Air Force X Group Exam:
Eligibility: Candidates must be between 17.5 and 21 years old and must have studied Physics and Mathematics in the 12th class.
Exam Structure: The Air Force X Group exam tests candidates in Mathematics, Physics, English, and Reasoning.
Step 2: Create a Structured Study Plan
A well-organized study plan is key to staying on track during your preparation. Breaking down the syllabus into smaller, manageable sections ensures you cover all topics effectively and avoid last-minute stress.
Key Tips for Creating a Study Plan:
Time Allocation: Prioritize subjects based on your strengths and weaknesses. Focus more on subjects like Mathematics, General Knowledge, and Physics.
Regular Revision: Schedule regular revision sessions to reinforce what you’ve learned and improve retention.
Mock Tests: Include weekly mock tests to simulate exam conditions, test your time management skills, and identify weak areas that need improvement.
Focus on Weak Areas: Spend extra time on challenging subjects or concepts to ensure comprehensive preparation.
Step 3: Focus on Physical Fitness
All three exams (NDA, AFCAT, and Air Force X Group) include a physical fitness component that candidates must clear. Therefore, physical fitness is an integral part of your preparation strategy.
Physical Fitness Tips:
Build Endurance: Incorporate running, cycling, or swimming into your daily routine to improve your stamina.
Strength Training: Push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups are key exercises you need to focus on for improving strength.
Flexibility: Yoga or stretching exercises can help enhance flexibility, reducing the risk of injury during physical tests.
Step 4: Stay Updated with Current Affairs and General Knowledge
A significant portion of the NDA and AFCAT exams is dedicated to General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Being well-informed on national and international events can boost your chances of scoring high in this section.
How to Stay Updated:
Read Newspapers: Read reputable newspapers like The Hindu or Times of India for daily updates.
Use Apps and Websites: Platforms like GKToday, Jagran Josh, and other apps help you stay informed on the latest developments in politics, sports, and science.
Watch the News: Keeping an eye on news channels or current affairs shows will enhance your awareness of ongoing global events.

no....yes ma'am! (cl16)
pairing: lieutenant!charles "perceval" leclerc x nurse! "lucky" reader
summary: having a new squadron assigned to your military airbase is always interesting, but this time you didn't expect to find a klutzy pilot in your hands
aka 5 times charles leclerc injured himself on accident, and the one time he may not have
warnings: complete military inaccuracy, injuries + blood, drunk confessions
wc: 3290
a/n: those pictures 😳 also please don't mind the complete inaccuracy (i unfortunately know nothing about the airforce); it's everything i remember from watching tg:maverick 😄

"lucky, you're going to have to do better than that," lewis chided from across the medical centre, his voice carrying an amused tone despite the stern words. as one of the captains and senior flight instructors at naval air station north island, he oversaw the medical staff, ensuring you were prepared for the....unique challenges posed by his aviator pilots.
you rolled my eyes good-naturedly, setting aside the bandages you'd been about to wrap around max’s fingers. "easy there, buzz lightyear. not my problem mad max over here has two left thumbs and googly eyes when he sees the simulator. besides shouldn’t you be with britney overseeing the rest of the squadron?”
“hey!” max shouted, huffing when you gave him a stern look when he moved his hand again.
lewis chuckled, shaking his head. "well, maybe take a page from seb’s book – he seems to have a knack for avoiding these kinds of patients."
you snorted.
"yeah right, like seb would ever not give me the chance to “get experience” you snarked, gesturing towards the german, who was currently engaged in a heated discussion with kimi near the coffee machine. "besides, i've got it under control."
before he could respond, the double doors leading into the medical centre burst open. much to your annoyance, in walked charles, looking like a walking disaster zone. his usually immaculate his flight suit was covered in dirt and what appeared to be engine grease, and he had a large gash above his left eyebrow which was oozing blood.
"lucky!" he called out, spotting you across the room. "i need your help please!"
you sighed inwardly, keeping your eyes focused on max’s fingers. "what happened this time, perceval?"
charles hobbled towards you, wincing slightly as he accidently bumped into the bed. "...well when i was getting out of the plane, i accidently stepped off the ladder wrong and hit my head on the rung…and then when i turned around, i accidentally tripped over the fuel line and then fell in some of the leaking fuel on the ground…”
you raised an eyebrow, "and you call yourself a pilot? or did you just decide to see how much damage you could inflict on yourself to join the circus?"
charles shot me a wounded look, but you could tell he was fighting back a grin. "hey, i'm a highly skilled pilot! these things happen even to the best of us."
max snickered behind you, clearly enjoying charles' misfortune. "yeah, fortunate you didn't blow up the jet engine again, perceval."
giggling at max's jab, you finished the wrapping before ushering charles onto an exam table, assessing the severity of his injuries.
"alright, let's take a look," you said, gently probing the cut above his eye. "this doesn't seem too deep, but we should still clean it up and stitch it shut." you grabbed some antiseptic wipes and began cleaning the wound, trying to ignore the way charles's eyelids fluttered closed as you worked your magic.
“i’ll be fine to fly tonight, right…lucky please?” he begged, looking at you pleadingly and you almost felt bad for what you were about to do.
“unfortunately, no can do perceval…and don’t think about smirking either max, you’re not off the hook either,” you glared at the dutchman who instantly looked far more stormy than when he entered your clinic.
“rosberg will have my heads if i don’t stop you from flying, so just be careful next time you troublesome duo” you sighed, signing off on a nurse's note for britney about max and charles
“yes ma’am”
2
just two days later, you received a call from seb, informing you that charles had taken another tumble, this time during a routine inspection of one of his aircraft.
"he's got a nasty scrape on his knee and a bruised elbow, but nothing too serious," seb reported. you sighed, already anticipating the inevitable. "thanks for letting me know. i'll be right over."
when you arrived at the scene, you found charles sitting on the tarmac, his flight suit stained with dirt and grass. his flight pants had been pulled over his knee, which was indeed scraped raw, oozing a thin trail of blood, while his elbow bore a prominent purple bruise.
"what happened this time?" you asked dryly, crouching down to examine his wounds.
charles looked up at you, his expression sheepish. "it was just a slippery patch of grass, honest. one minute i was fine, the next second i was eating dirt."
you raised an eyebrow skeptically. "and how many times have you fallen on that same slippery patch of grass now perceval?"
charles shrugged, wincing slightly as you cleaned and bandaged his scraped knee. "maybe twice before, but it's not like i meant to! accidents happen, right?"
you couldn't help but chuckle at his innocent act. "sure they do. which is why you've managed to accumulate quite the collection of bruises and cuts over the past few days alone."
finishing up with the bandages, you stood and offered charles a hand up. "come on, let's get you back to your quarters and iced up."
“will you stay with me?” charles begged, “everyone’s going to be at practice…and i don’t really want to be alone,”
“just this once leclerc,” you sighed but fighting back a grin, “we’ve got extra hands on deck today, so as long as you don’t tell seb…”
“deal! now would you prefer flight sim or the new f1 sim max got…?” he trailed off at your glare.
“don’t even think for a second you’re going to be allowed on the sim” you rolled your eyes, “…what about playing a game of chess?”
“yes ma’am,” he sighed, before trailing behind you into the pilot’s quarters.
3
a week after charles' last fall, you received word that he had sustained yet another injury - this time while in a friendly game of padel with oscar and george.
you arrived at the court to find charles nursing a sore wrist, his racket lying abandoned nearby. "what happened this time?" you asked, surveying the giggling pilots.
"he tried to ace a shot and ended up smacking his own arm instead. typical charlie, always going for the dramatic flair" george quipped, elbowing charles playfully who groaned out pathetically
“lucky save me from them please,” he whimpered dramatically, tossing his head back
you shot george a playful glare before turning your attention back to charles. "let's take a look,"
oscar chuckled, patting charles's shoulder sympathetically. "don't worry, mate, it's just a bit of swelling. lucky's got some magic touch to fix you right up."
examining charles's wrist, you looked at a slight deformity where the skin was stretched tight over the underlying bones. "hmm, looks like you might have strained the ligaments," you diagnosed, applying gentle pressure to assess the tenderness. "nothing too severe, but you'll need to immobilise it for a few days to let it heal properly."
charles winced, his face falling. "aw, man, do you really have to stop playing? george and oscar were just getting warmed up..."
george snickered. "yeah, because nothing says 'fun' like watching you whine and limp around the court."
oscar, ever the peacemaker, intervened. "come on, guys, let's not rub it in. charles, you know lucky will make sure you're good as new in no time."
you turned to charles with a stern expression. "listen, i know you're eager to get back out there, but pushing yourself too hard will only make things worse in the long run. trust me, a few days of rest will do you wonders."
charles sighed defeatedly, "alright, alright, you win. i'll behave myself and let you play nurse."
you smirked, knowing full well that keeping charles in line would be easier said than done. "good boy. now, let's get you sorted out and see if we can't find something less strenuous for you to do in the meantime."
"yes ma'am. chess again?"
4
eight days later, you found yourself dealing with yet another of charles's mishaps. this time, he had been working out with carlos in the base gym when something went awry.
"y/n," charles panted, limping into the centre with carlos trailing behind him. "i think i sprained my ankle during our weights session. carlos here tried to catch me when i fell, but i landed wrong."
carlos held up his hands defensively. "hey, i did my best! he's just a clumsy mess som..most times."
you suppressed a chuckle, "let's take a look charlie boy," you said, as charles hopped up onto the bed, which he was now well familiar with.
as you examined charles's ankle, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of concern for the pilot. even though you enjoyed seeing him visiting your centre, it didn’t help that it was only because he had some injury which prevented him from doing what he actually loved.
"okay, you think it's just a mild sprain," you said, carefully palpating charles' swollen ankle. "but you'll need to stay off it for a few days to avoid further injury."
charles groaned, leaning back against the exam table. "a few days? but o have flights scheduled tonight!"
"then you'll have to reschedule them," you said firmly, meeting his gaze. "i won't risk you making it worse. trust me, please charles."
carlos nodded in agreement, placing a reassuring hand on charles's shoulder. "she's right, man. we need you flying at 100%, not hobbling around in pain."
charles sighed, relenting. "alright, alright. i'll take it easy, y/n,"
over the next few days, you kept a close eye on charles as he recovered from his sprained ankle. despite your warnings, he still insisted on hobbling around the base, determined not to let his injury slow him down completely.
one evening, you found him struggling to carry a stack of files down the hallway, his face contorted in pain. "what are you doing?" you demanded, rushing over to relieve him of the heavy load. "i thought you told you to rest!"
"i was just trying to help out," charles grumbled, leaning heavily on his crutches. "it's boring sitting around all day."
you rolled my eyes, shaking my head in exasperation. "well, tough luck. nurse’s orders are nurse’s orders. now come on, let's get you back to your quarters before you collapse."
"yes y/nnie," he giggled, leaning against you for support as he hobbled his way back down. you blushed fiercely, very much enjoying the feeling of his muscled body pressed up against your own.
5
despite your best efforts to keep him confined to basic movements, charles attempted to push the limits of his body and your patience throughout the week. you caught him sneaking out for late night jogs, attempting to lift weights one-handed, and even trying to sneak onto the flight deck unnoticed.
on the fifth day, you finally cornered him in the base cafeteria, confiscating his crutches before he could protest. "enough is enough, perceval," you said sternly, waving the crutches out of reach. "you're going to listen to me and take it easy, whether you like it or not."
charles glared at me, his jaw clenched in frustration. "but y/nnn-"
"no buts," you interrupted, cutting him off. "i know you're impatient to get back out there, but you need to heal properly first. i need to take care of you,"
as charles allowed himself to be led away, you couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for him. despite his stubborn nature, he was a talented pilot who genuinely cared about his team and the success of their missions.
once you reached his living quarters, you helped him settle onto the couch with a pillow propped under his injured ankle. "here, drink this," you said, pressing a glass of water with a pill into his hand.
charles took a sip, grimacing at the taste. "you know, y/n, maybe you could find a way to keep me entertained while i'm stuck here. it gets pretty dull without anything to do besides watch reruns of harry potter."
“what do you want us to do charlie?” you smiled, watching charles’ toned stomach rise and fall as he looked contently out the window.
“can i listen to you talk…it might help me relax,” he said cheekily, lying his head in your lap, before gazing intently at your eyes.
you glanced away for a second, taking in the room…it was not at all uncomfortable despite what you may have thought, but charles’ quiet breathing in the silence was warm. it made your heart beat a thousand miles faster and you could feel a shiver down your spine as he moved your fingers into his hair, “of course charlie…what do you want to hear a story about?”
+1
three months went peacefully with no sign of charles in the medical centre. although you were thankful that he had been keeping himself out of trouble, you couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness that you hadn’t been able to see him recently.
the squadron had been engaged in more off-base exercises, and if they were on base, they were busy with paperwork and other administrative necessities. you barely caught a glimpse of lewis, let alone any of his pilots, and to be honest, you missed them all.
you had been sitting home alone tonight, the quiet chatter of the tv in the background. seb had let you off work early, since the pilots would only be arriving in the morning. you were settling in for a quiet evening with a book and cup of tea, when your phone buzzed with an incoming call. seeing max's name flash across the screen, you answered with a smile. "hey! you guys are back already, was the exercise ok?"
"oh yeah, everything's great!" max assured. "we just finished up sooner than expected and figured why waste a perfectly good evening, right? we're at hard deck right now,”
“yeah knowing you drunkards,” you laughed.
“although..." he trailed off, stifling another giggle.
you rolled my eyes as realisation dawned. "please tell me charles hasn't already managed to hurt himself again."
max snorted.
“just don’t let him near the alcohol, i’m coming over now,”
as you approached the table, you noticed charles's glazed eyes following your every move. he leaned forward, squinting slightly as if trying to bring you into focus.
"hey, lucky," he slurred, a goofy grin spreading across his face. "you know, you're pretty cute when you're not being all doctor-y and stuff."
lando rolled his eyes, shaking his head in exasperation. "ignore him, lucky. he's three sheets to the wind and talking nonsense."
but charles wasn't deterred. he slid out of the booth, stumbling towards you with an exaggerated sway. "no, seriously, i mean it. you're like, the hottest nurse around these parts."
you backed away instinctively, holding up your hands in a placating gesture. "whoa there, tiger."
charles stumbled closer, his alcohol-fueled bravado overriding any sense of propriety. "c'mon, lucky, don't be like that," he slurred, his words running together. "i bet you're a total wildcat in the sack."
oscar groaned, burying his face in his hands. "oh god, kill me now."
you took a step back, your professional demeanour rapidly eroding under the weight of charles's drunken advances. "okay, that's enough. you're clearly not in any state to be making such inappropriate comments."
but charles pressed on, his fingers grazing your arm as he leaned in close. "admit it, lucky, you feel the chemistry between us. you know i'm not imagining it."
“you can tell me when you’re not drunk perceval” you sighed, motioning for carlos and george to bring him around to my car
as charles swayed precariously on his feet, you could feel the heat of his breath against your cheek, the faint scent of whiskey mingling with his usual musky cologne. it was a combination that sent a shiver down your spine despite your best professional efforts.
"come on, charles," you coaxed gently, guiding him towards the exit with a firm grip on his elbow. "let's get you home so you can sleep this off."
he pouted, his lower lip protruding in a childish display of petulance. "aw, but you don't wanna go yet. you want to stay with you, lucky."
“i’ll let you sleep in my house tonight, perceval. but no funny business” you wagged your finger at him, before seating him inside my car.
you helped guide charles to the couch, easing him down onto the soft cushions. he sprawled out immediately, his limbs splayed in a careless fashion.
"there ya go, charlie," you murmured, tucking a pillow beneath his head. "just relax and try to get some sleep, okay?"
charles blinked up at me, his eyes struggling to focus. "you're so nice to me, lucky," he slurred, a lazy smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "i don't deserve you...but i missed you over the past few weeks. i really like…"
you chuckled softly, wanting to hear what the pilot had to say, but when you saw his closing eyes, you knew not to push it. brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead you laughed, "that's debatable, but let's save that discussion for another time. for now, just rest. and i missed you too charlie"
he nodded, his eyelids growing heavy as he drifted off to sleep.
you stood there for a moment longer, watching the steady rise and fall of charles's chest as he slept. even in his drunken stupor, there was a certain vulnerability about him that tugged at your heartstrings.
you did really like the man, and it seemed like he liked you too
the next morning, you awoke to the sound of clashing pots and pans before a very loud merde! came from your kitchen. giggling you came down to find charles awkwardly rifling through your pantry as the crackle of eggs sounded on the stove.
“good morning charlie,” you smiled, watching the man sheepishly try to hide his face behind the milk carton he had just taken out of the fridge. sauntering over to him, you trailed a finger up his arm, smirking when you saw the flush rise up his cheeks.
“...i heard some very interesting things come out of your mouth last night charlie, wanna elaborate further?” you smiled, as charles gripped the wrist of your wandering hands, before sighing and avoided meeting your eyes.
“i-im sorry i said those…things…sorry if i made you uncomfortable, we can forget about it if you want,” charles trailed off, stepping away from you; the room only permeated by the dying roar of the stove.
you watched charles awkwardly fiddle with his fingers, as he awaited your reply. serves him right for only confessing when drunk, you smiled…
“I like you too charles, if that wasn’t obvious enough…i mean i did never tell lewis and nico about your injuries. they would’ve had a fit over them,” you laugh watching charles’ eyebrows shoot up rapidly in surprise. grinning, he took a hesitant step towards you, then another, before he was standing right in front of you. you could feel his breath against your face, as he whispered, “can i kiss you, y/n?”
you closed the gap between the two of you, mouths meeting in a tentative kiss. it was soft, gentle, and exactly what you wanted with charles. as you pulled back, you gazed into charles's eyes, seeing the same…love…reflected back at you.
"we take it slow," you whispered, my fingers intertwining with his. "after all, our lives are too fast paced…and i want to enjoy it with you,"
charles nodded, a relieved smile spreading across his face. "okay. whatever you want, lucky. you trust you."
"you’re my guardian angel afterall,”
