Blooming Beauty: A Comprehensive Guide to Growing and Caring for Bougainvillea
Introduction: Bougainvillea is a spectacular flowering plant renowned for its vibrant colors, prolific blooms, and ability to thrive in various climates. Originating from South America, this woody vine has captured the hearts of gardeners worldwide with its breathtaking display of papery bracts. Whether cascading over walls and trellises or adorning containers on patios, bougainvillea adds a touch of tropical elegance to any landscape. In this guide, we'll delve into the essentials of growing and caring for bougainvillea, ensuring that you can cultivate these botanical marvels with confidence and success.
Getting to Know Bougainvillea:
Bougainvillea belongs to the Nyctaginaceae family and comprises numerous species and cultivars, ranging from compact shrubs to sprawling vines.
Renowned for its dazzling bracts, bougainvillea flowers are small and inconspicuous, with papery, colorful bracts surrounding them in shades of pink, red, purple, orange, and white.
Bougainvillea is native to tropical and subtropical regions, thriving in warm climates with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil.
Selecting the Right Variety:
Choose a bougainvillea variety suited to your climate and space requirements. Compact cultivars are ideal for containers and small gardens, while vigorous vines are perfect for covering fences and arbors.
Consider the desired color and growth habit when selecting a variety, as bougainvillea comes in a wide range of hues and forms, including dwarf, thornless, and variegated types.
Providing Optimal Growing Conditions:
Sunlight: Bougainvillea thrives in full sunlight, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for abundant flowering. Plant them in a location with southern or western exposure for optimal blooming.
Soil: Plant bougainvillea in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (around 6.0 to 6.5). Sandy loam or sandy clay soil amended with organic matter provides an ideal growing medium.
Watering: While bougainvillea is drought-tolerant once established, it benefits from regular watering during the growing season, especially in hot, dry climates. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot.
Temperature: Bougainvillea thrives in warm temperatures and is sensitive to frost. Protect plants from freezing temperatures by covering them with frost cloth or bringing potted specimens indoors during winter.
Planting and Pruning:
Plant bougainvillea in spring after the threat of frost has passed, spacing them at least 3 to 5 feet apart to allow for proper air circulation and growth.
Prune bougainvillea regularly to maintain shape and promote flowering. Remove dead or damaged branches, and prune lightly after each flowering cycle to encourage new growth and blooming.
Wear gloves and protective clothing when pruning bougainvillea, as the plant's thorns can cause irritation to the skin.
Fertilizing and Feeding:
Feed bougainvillea with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer formulated for flowering plants every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing season. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, as they can promote foliage growth at the expense of flowers.
Apply fertilizer according to the manufacturer's instructions, and water the plant thoroughly after feeding to prevent fertilizer burn.
Managing Pests and Diseases:
Monitor bougainvillea for common pests such as aphids, scales, and caterpillars, and treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
Keep an eye out for signs of fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and leaf spot, especially in humid conditions. Improve air circulation around the plant and avoid overhead watering to minimize disease risk.
Conclusion: Bougainvillea captivates with its stunning bracts, vibrant colors, and resilience, making it a cherished addition to gardens and landscapes around the world. By providing the right growing conditions, regular care, and attention, you can enjoy a profusion of blooms and lush foliage from these remarkable plants year after year. Embrace the beauty of bougainvillea and let its vibrant presence transform your outdoor spaces into tropical paradises.

Benjamin Fulford Publication Links - March 30 - 2020:
Maybe it’s the fear of American assassins coming for Abe that has prompted Japan to consider an entry ban on all American citizens. http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/13252339
Now let us look at what the dark side is up to. In the video at the link below, starting around the 15:20 mark, Bill Gates is calling for only people who have a vaccination certificate to be allowed to travel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5oQp-GVMJU&feature=youtu.be
The key battle to watch over the coming days will not be the one against the “pandemic” though, it will be the one over control of the financial system and thus the planet. On this front, any veteran market expert will tell you what is happening now is beyond a black swan event. The United States military did not call up one million reservists and move its headquarters to an underground bunker because of a mostly bogus coronavirus threat. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/eo-order-selected-reserve-certain-members-individual-ready-reserve-armed-forces-active-duty/
By the way, if you still do not think this pandemic is mostly hype take note of one thing: fewer people are dying now than before the so-called pandemic started.
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/12-experts-question-covid-19-panic
https://www.zerohedge.com/health/covid-19-saving-lives
Anyway, to understand why the planet is now moving into historically uncharted territory take a look at this NASA video of activity around the sun. I do not usually write about space stuff but this was sent to me by several trusted sources. It appears to show the solar system undergoing some sort of fundamental shift. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1xitzfjGsY&w=660&h=372
The controllers of the old system with its G20, IMF, World Bank, and United Nations are pumping out trillions upon trillions of dollars in an attempt to keep their control grid intact. It is being advertised as well that the U.S. Treasury Department has taken over the Fed and will be handing out money to the common man. However, as Catherine Austin Fitts notes, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine_Austin_Fitts a former high-level establishment insider), control of the trillions of dollars being pumped out by the FED has been given to arch-cabal company Blackrock. “The guy who runs Blackrock was going to be Clinton’s Secretary of the Treasury. I used to work with Blackrock. NO PATRIOTS THERE!,” she tweets. https://twitter.com/TheSolariReport/status/1244275415688122374
Despite the increasingly desperate FED adding ever more zeroes to their promised numbers, their helicopter money is increasingly getting out of touch with reality. Creating dollars out of thin air means nothing to real-world restaurants, airlines and oil companies, etc. watching their businesses collapse. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/feds-cure-risks-being-worse-110052807.html
One sign of the fiat collapse is the fact that physical gold and silver are now far more expensive than their paper equivalents. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/theres-no-gold-comex-report-exposes-conditions-driving-physical-supply-problems
https://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/gold-now-unobtanium
What is interesting though is that the Perth Mint in Australia, still has physical gold and silver for sale. https://www.perthmint.com/covid19.aspx
The Perth mint is the only mint acknowledged by the Western financial system that is smelting Asian off ledger gold. This is especially interesting since three Chinese warships just sailed into Sydney harbor, apparently without the knowledge of the Australian military. Has China just seized control of Australia? https://www.facebook.com/9News/posts/3221341631246985
The Russians have also made a huge move by de facto seizing the world’s largest oil reserves in Venezuela. The Russian government now owns them. This means any move by the Washington DC regime to seize Venezuelan oil will lead to war with nuclear-armed Russia. https://tass.com/economy/1136999
The FED is now obviously losing control of the petrodollar as the price of some grades of oil is falling to $4 per barrel. Experts are now predicting oil prices to go negative as the world runs out of places to store the stuff. https://business.financialpost.com/commodities/energy/the-worlds-on-the-brink-of-running-out-of-places-to-put-oil
https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/unthinkable-happening-oil-storage-space-about-run-out
It is interesting to note Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said on Israeli TV that the pandemic “might take two months, it might take three months, it might take a bit longer but that is the plan.” Then we have a Rabbi telling the Jews not to worry because the coronavirus is “only for the goyim.” https://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?read=143280
Interestingly the Satanic number 666 is again popping up in various news reports these days. Two examples are linked below.
https://tass.com/russia/1136925
https://dnyuz.com/2020/03/29/what-social-distancing-looked-like-in-1666/
These BBC and Fox News stories are hinting that asteroids will be used next to scare people after the pandemic show fizzles to an end.

https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-47607696
https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=2020%20DP4
The “strategic thinkers” may have known their fiat-based control grid was mathematically doomed to lose touch with reality. However, they apparently failed to see the collapse of the old control grid paving the way for a phoenix-like rise of a new age. Soon our concrete and steel cities will become green with vegetation and filled with abundant animal life. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/27/utrecht-rooftops-greened-plants-mosses-vertical-forest

The Daily Tulip
The Daily Tulip – News From Around The World
Thursday 23rd November 2017
Good Morning Gentle Reader…. From Meat Balls to Vintage Appliances, The Daily Tulip goes to the farthest corners to bring you the news to make you chuckle over coffee or tea, the news to make you the go to person at the water fountain, or put the capital “C” in your Cliff Clavin impressions.. The Daily Tulip.. searching the world to make people happy….
MASSIVE MEATBALL ACCIDENT CLOSES SWEDISH ROAD…. Swedish meatballs are always a welcome sight on the dinner table, but less so when 20 tonnes of them block the road in front of you. This is the spectacle that faced unwary drivers on 15 November along the Skara-Lundsbrunn road in southwest Sweden, when icy evening conditions meant that the trailer of a lorry skidded into a ditch, taking the meatball mountain with it, Skara Lans Tidning reports. The lorry itself remained on the road, but all the meatballs needed to be first offloaded onto the carriageway before the trailer could be hauled out of the ditch. "The trailer was heavier than the lorry itself, and it is very slippery out there," police officer Tommy Emriksson told Swedish TV. No one was injured in the accident, and social media users have viewed the incident with humour.
SIBERIAN CAPSULE SAYS NOODLES, FLASH DRIVES DEFINE 2017…. The centenary of the Russian Revolution has seen much reflection on the past, but some villagers in Siberia are sending a message to the future in the form of a time capsule from 2017. The people of Zhokhsogon, in the sparsely-populated Yakutia region, invited local NVK Sakha TV to the ceremonial burial, pledging to to "follow the example of their ancestors 50 years ago". This is a reference to the 1967 Soviet time capsule campaign, when young people across the country were encouraged to leave messages for their 2017 peers celebrating the achievements of Communism and setting out what they expected in the future. The TV said today's villagers have posted 120 letters to their descendants in the air-tight container, along with photographs of historic events in Zhokhsogon and "examples of foodstuffs and objects that represent our times". The youngsters of 1967 would certainly have been surprised to see a bottle of cola - a symbol of Western decadence, according to Soviet propaganda - and instant noodles figure among the more familiar cooking oil and condensed milk. It is a matter of conjecture what they would have made of the memory stick that stores the photos. The TV correspondent adds that "it is also anyone's guess whether they will still know how to access the contents in 2067" - the date when the capsule is to be opened.
VIRGIN TRAINS OFFER SIGNED WILL FERRELL TOILET SEAT AS PRIZE… VIRGIN Trains have launched a new competition where rail passengers can be in with a chance to win a toilet seat signed by Anchorman star Will Ferrell. An image showing the Hollywood Funnyman holding up a signed Virgin Trains toilet seat was posted across the firm’s social media channels today. Ferrell, who is gearing up for the launch of new comedy Daddy’s Home 2, has been enlisted ahead of a new Virgins Trains toilet announcement. The signed toilet seat features a notice reminding passengers to bin items such as wet wipes, nappies and sanitary towels, rather than flush them down the loo. Fans of the A-list comedy actor can enter the bizarre competition to win the signed lavatory fixture by using hastag #FerrellToiletSeat on the appropriate posts appearing on Virgin Trains’ Facebook and Twitter pages. Will Ferrell has also recorded a range of special toilet announcements for Virgin Trains on the West Coast to remind passengers to lock their toilet door and avoid the embarrassing ‘slow reveal’. The on-board announcements will be played on selected Virgin Trains West Coast services until the end of the year.
IS THIS CHRISTMAS CARD TOO ‘SEXUAL’ FOR FACEBOOK?.... An artist from Hawick was baffled when her painting of a robin redbreast was banned from the Facebank social media site for being too sexual. Jackie Charley, 52, repeatedly failed to upload the images of the charming bird which feature on packs of seasonal greeting cards she was hoping to sell. Facebook warned her the images featured the sale of ‘adult items or services’, adding: “It looks like we didn’t approve your item because we don’t allow the sale of adult items or services (eg sexual enhancement items or adult videos).” Jackie is completely mystified at the decision and has repeatedly asked Facebook for an explanation, without success. The ban is a blow as she works from home to allow her to care for husband, who has a serious medical condition, and relies financially on the sales of cards she sells on Facebook. It is believed the ban may prove to be an error but a spokesman for Facebook would only say that the firm was now investigating the matter.
EXETER SOMERSET ENGLAND COUPLE FINALLY DITCH 1950S APPLIANCES…. An elderly couple are getting rid of household appliances they bought more than 50 years ago. Sydney Saunders, 83, and wife Rachel, 81, from Exeter, have a tumble dryer, water boiler, cooker and washing machine, all in recent working order. They bought some of the items when they got married in 1956 and have been using most of them since. They say they are "not interested" in money and hope a museum or collector will take them. Included in the items for sale is a Servis washing machine which the couple bought for £60 when they first got married. "It was a lot of money in those days," said Mrs Saunders. All of the items operate, but Mr Saunders said the washing machine does "have the slightest of leaks". The tumble dryer was bought when their first daughter was born 55 years ago and was used until a couple of months ago. They also have a Baby Belling cooker bought in 1956 for £19 and a five-gallon boiler bought in 1959 for about £15. The couple decided to get rid of the appliances after "having a clear out".
Well Gentle Reader I hope you enjoyed our look at the news from around the world this, Thursday morning… …
Our Tulips today bring a little colour to our lives…..
A Sincere Thank You for your company and Thank You for your likes and comments I love them and always try to reply, so please keep them coming, it's always good fun, As is my custom, I will go and get myself another mug of "Colombian" Coffee and wish you a safe Thursday 23rd November 2017 from my home on the southern coast of Spain, where the blue waters of the Alboran Sea washes the coast of Africa and Europe and the smell of the night blooming Jasmine and Honeysuckle fills the air…and a crazy old guy and his dog Bella go out for a walk at 4:00 am…on the streets of Estepona…
All good stuff....But remember it’s a dangerous world we live in
Be safe out there…

One question that has been in everyone’s mind is about the policies on installing commercial solar PV and insulation on new demountables and school roofs. One question that has been in everyone’s mind is about the policies on installing commercial solar PV and insulation on new demountables and school roofs. The Liberal Government has rolled out a $20-$30 million program for installing solar panels on state-owned buildings, with smart batteries fitted on the existing solar systems. According to a ministry spokesman, the resources, energy and utility departments are waiting for buildings to give them the costings. Labor has assured to conduct an audit of all government buildings, including all places where solar panels can be installed. This also proposes to have all state-owned buildings to buy electricity from renewable sources by 2025. What’s In for Schools? In November 2018, the government announced the Cooler Classrooms fund, which is about investing $500 million for having air conditioners installed in classrooms across New South Wales. And wherever possible, the government wants to have them powered by solar systems. In the first funding round, more than 900 public schools were named and most of these schools on the list had an average summer temperature of minimum 30° Celsius. Out of this, almost 50 schools already had air conditioning installed under the scheme. However, Labor's Cool Schools commitment does not include staff-rooms and this fund is more focused on classrooms and libraries. Lately, one western Sydney principal was disappointed with the fact that their school's un-air-conditioned hall was not considered as a learning space and didn't qualify despite being used by students during regular class hours. The school had self-funded air conditioners in the classrooms a few years ago. Meanwhile, labor has guaranteed something similar with its Cool Schools policy, but an additional $300 million budget has been allocated, after the promised cancellation of Sydney Football Stadium demolition. Additional $100 million of the funding has been dedicated to having solar systems that will power new air conditioners in more than 350 schools. Commercial Solar Panels For Schools More than 1,430 schools across New South Wales have installed solar panels in the past decade for reducing their carbon footprint. These solar systems differ depending on the school, ranging from 18-kilowatt system to 99.9kW system. The new Ballina High School that opened lately has installed a 99.9kW design. The Department of Education have told schools to contact School Infrastructure NSW for installing photovoltaic systems.

Why a US Sale of Fighter Jets to Taiwan Matters
It would not transform the armed service stability throughout the Taiwan Strait, but would sign a shift in U.S. help for Taipei.
By John Lee for The Diplomat
April 03, 2019
In the direct-up to the 1996 Taiwanese presidential elections, mainland China executed a sequence of missile tests to categorical its displeasure in opposition to the pro-independence leanings of then-leader Lee Teng-hui and impress on the Taiwanese electorate that returning Lee to workplace might lead to war.
The United States’ response to the so-called Third Taiwan Strait Disaster, which was to purchase two aircraft provider teams to the area, did the trick. The greatest display screen of American armed forces could possibly given that the Vietnam War compelled a humiliating Chinese backdown and persuaded Beijing it necessary to modernize its military to counter the U.S. Navy. The Chinese move also backfired as Lee’s acceptance in Taiwan obtained a shot in the arm for standing up to the mainland.
Again in 1996, China’s military budget was only about twice that of Taiwan’s and around 16 occasions more compact than that of the United States. Nowadays, the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) budget is practically 22 situations larger than Taiwan’s and more than one-third that of the United States. China’s highly developed brief-selection ballistic missile could ruin each runway attached to Taiwan’s 6 air drive bases and ruin nearly all Taiwanese fighter planes in the early times of a war. The PLA has set up superiority more than Taiwan in the air, and on and under the water. The only thing the PLA can not realize is landing troops on Taiwan with out suffering unacceptable losses.
Taking pleasure in this posting? Click on in this article to subscribe for whole accessibility. Just $5 a thirty day period.
In late March, Bloomberg described that U.S. President Donald Trump’s advisers experienced inspired Taiwan to submit a formal request to purchase up to 60 innovative F-16V fighter planes. Any sale need to nonetheless be permitted by Congress and would be the first important aircraft acquire from the United States by Taiwan considering the fact that 1992. In the course of her stop by to Hawaii very last week, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen verified that Taiwan had asked for a buy of new fighter jets from the United States. Days later, two Chinese fighter planes crossed the median line in the Taiwan Strait that divides China and Taiwan – the first time this has happened for 20 a long time.
Even if the F-16V sale goes forward, Taiwan’s new planes will not alter the armed service balance in between China and Taiwan, nor dissuade the mainland from even further provocations such as the median line flyover. That is not Beijing’s major concern, even so. The most essential calculation China ought to make is not the relative abilities of the Taiwanese armed forces but how the United States will react in the function of a crisis or conflict in the Taiwan Strait. Just about every clue with regard to uncovering U.S. intention is vital simply because U.S. intervention could tip the military services stability towards China in any such conflict. In any occasion, it guarantees the finish of any “acceptable cost” final result in the celebration of conflict for China.
Below the United States’ 1979 Taiwan Relations Act, any try to forcibly decide Taiwan’s upcoming is regarded “a threat to peace and safety of the Western Pacific and of grave issue to the United States.” To reduce that, Washington is obligated to sell “arms of a defensive character” to Taipei to allow for the latter to defend itself and dissuade China from launching any military motion. Since the Monthly bill Clinton period, administrations have denied Taiwan’s ask for to invest in new fighter planes on the foundation that the grey line from “defense” to “offense” might be crossed.
Talking from Hawaii, Tsai enable the cat out of the bag when she said the buy of state-of-the-art fourth era fighters would “greatly increase our land and air capabilities, strengthen navy ethical and present to the environment the U.S. determination to Taiwan’s protection.” It is the very last line which sends shivers down the backbone of mainland leaders.
Considering the fact that the Taiwan Relations Act came into pressure, the United States has intentionally embarked on a plan of “strategic ambiguity” with regard to its armed service commitments to Taiwan in the function the latter is attacked. Whether or not the United States intervenes is a make a difference of political judgment and strategic evaluation. Under the Barack Obama administration, the conclusion to only give Taipei upgrades to its growing older F-16 A/B planes advised to Beijing that de-escalating tensions arising from variances in excess of Taiwan was the predominant attitude.
In distinction, the Trump administration has revealed unparalleled willingness to escalate tensions with China around political, strategic, and financial distinctions. The speech by Vice President Mike Pence last October at the Hudson Institute and the 2017 Countrywide Protection Method pulled no punches in pinpointing China as a thorough rival to the United States. If the sale of F-16V planes goes through, then, it is evidence that the attitude in Washington with regard to Taiwan has also changed and is a lot less accepting of mainland sensibilities and calls for. These kinds of a sale would be an indicator that preserving de facto Taiwanese independence is once a lot more regarded vital to U.S. and allied strategy when it arrives to maintaining the PLA confined to inside of the so-termed To start with Island Chain.
That would be a substantial blow to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s options. In a wide-ranging speech on Taiwan in January to mark the 40th anniversary of the “Message to Compatriots in Taiwan” delivered to the 1978 Nationwide People’s Congress, Xi implied that “reunification” with Taiwan was a “historic task” he desired to attain in the course of his tenure. A U.S. sale of F-16Vs to Taiwan — and all it indicates — helps make fulfillment of that endeavor considerably less most likely.
Last but not least, the energy of American aid for Taiwan will impact how other nations react to persistent Chinese tries to lower global space within just which Taiwan can act as a de facto sovereign entity.
The most crucial regional marriage for Taiwan is with Japan, which has emerged under Shinzo Abe as the political, strategic, and financial chief between democratic Asian nations. On issues these types of as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Tokyo has revealed initiative when Washington has been located wanting. The Japanese chief has emerged as one particular of the handful of regional nations to have founded a powerful own romantic relationship with Taiwan’s Tsai and is commonly noticed as the most professional-Taiwan leaders amongst U.S. allies in the area. Even then, Abe’s area to shift is dependent on the extent to which the United States is ready to defend Taipei’s want to behave as a de facto sovereign entity.
If it is confirmed that Washington is going to a extra robust strategy with regard to cross-strait relations, Japan, Australia and other folks will stick to. Xi is now under interior stress from the global pushback versus his flagship guidelines these types of as the Belt and Highway Initiative and “Made in China 2025.” China has dropped goodwill with neighboring states around its actions in the East and South China Seas and alongside the disputed border with India. It is in the center of an economic war with the United States even though the European Union and Japan are brazenly criticizing China for violations of financial procedures and norms, together with the systematic theft of mental home by Chinese condition-owned corporations and “national champions.”
Xi took a great chance in abandoning the rhetoric and diplomacy of China’s “peaceful rise,” which was promulgated by his predecessor Hu Jintao. Earlier admired for his iron determination to achieve China’s wonderful “rejuvenation,” Xi is now being criticized domestically for overreach and miscalculation. It is speculated that the legitimacy of the Communist Social gathering would not endure the “loss” of Taiwan. If the United States goes in advance with the sale of F-16Vs to Taiwan, then the stress on a president who has embarked on an unparalleled “anti-corruption campaign” to silence political enemies and doubters will be enormous.
Professor John Lee is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC and United States Scientific tests Center in Sydney. From 2016-18, he was the national protection adviser to the Australian international minister.

Youngest ever Clipper Race skipper claims first race win
Visit Seattle, led by 24-year-old British sailor Nikki Henderson, the youngest ever Skipper to lead a team in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race’s eleven editions, has held off a strong challenge from three other teams to chalk up a thrilling maiden victory in Race 6: The Wondrous Whitsundays Race.
During one of the most challenging stages so far in the Clipper 2017-18 Race, Visit Seattle crossed the finish line off the coast of Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays, Australia, at 15:05:36 local time (05:05:36UTC), completing the 1,600-nautical mile sprint up the east coast of Australia from Hobart in eleven days.
Arriving into Abell Point Marina where the Clipper Race fleet will be berthed, Skipper Nikki said: “It’s such a good feeling. I’m finally a bit more relaxed than the last 48 hours. It’s been exhausting!
“This race has been really, really tough in so many ways. So many different types of conditions and sail changes. The tactics have been really hard but we pushed all the way through. The crew loved the Southerly Busters, it was exciting. We had experience of similar conditions in the past and we’re used to that kind of thing. The crew handled it really well.”
Nikki Henderson © onEdition
This is the team’s second podium result after finishing second in Race 4, from Fremantle, Western Australia, to Sydney, and it was made to work hard for this victory. This morning saw the team off the coast of Mackay, just five nautical miles ahead of the second placed PSP Logistics. Sanya Serenity Coast, skippered by Australian Wendy Tuck, was only another mile astern, with just seven nautical miles separating Visit Seattle from the fourth placed Liverpool 2018.
In the end, just 25 minutes separated Visit Seattle from second placed PSP Logistics, which takes its third podium result of the Clipper 2017-18 Race.
Round the world crew member Marek Omilian, from Seattle, says: “It was a phenomenal race. Phenomenal. Quite long because of the heat but it was very good sailing and a well-deserved victory. We were quite prepared for the weather because we faced some similar conditions in Leg 1 to Punta del Este and we were also very well prepared with Nikki’s leadership.”
Praising his Skipper, Marek adds: “Nikki is a very charismatic young leader. She loves teaching and she’s trained us very well.”
Race 6 presented some of the most varied and dramatic conditions of any Clipper Race stage so far. A tough upwind slog from Tasmania and up the southeast coast of Australia, it included two Southerly Buster storms which bought spectacular lightning storms and gusts of up to 78 knots off the Queensland coast.
Liverpool 2018 claimed third place, its first podium result of the Clipper Race. The team was actually fourth across the line after leading for the most of the last four days but its overall position was boosted after Sanya Serenity Coast was given a six-hour time penalty by the Clipper Race Committee for breaching exclusion zone rules, as per Race 6 Course Instructions.
The eleven Clipper Race yachts, along with their crew and supporters, will be based at Abell Point Marina, the first global 5 Gold Anchor accredited Marina in the world, during its stay in the Whitsundays. The stopover will be one to remember, with the crew to be welcomed by the inaugural Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival – a two-weeklong celebration of events and activities showcasing the beauty of the Whitsundays.
Tourism Whitsundays Sales and Marketing Manager Tash Wheeler, who was down on the pontoons to greet the teams into Airlie Beach, said: “It is absolutely fantastic to see a female skipper win the inaugural Wondrous Whitsundays Race and for one so young to pull off this feat is incredible.”
“What better place to win your first race than the beautiful Whitsundays! We are very excited to be showcasing the region to the Clipper Race crews, their families and friends, and hope they can take in as much as possible while here, including world famous Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, and of course the Great Barrier Reef, including the iconic Heart Reef, visible only from the air and only in the Whitsundays.
“The Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival will show the world that not only are we a world-class sailing destination but also a world-class holiday destination.”
At the time of writing, five Clipper Race teams are now alongside in Airlie Beach, with the remaining teams due in by approximately lunch time tomorrow local time in Australia.
The Airlie Beach, Whitsundays, stopover marks the changeover port which completes the All-Australian Leg 4, and starts the Asia Pacific Leg 5. Distance wise, this stopover is also the approximate half way stage of the Clipper 2017-18 Race with 20,000nm of the 40,000nm, 13 stage course now completed.
Race 7, which will see the teams head approximately 4,200 nautical miles to Sanya, the first of two Chinese stopovers in this next leg, starts on 29 January. From there, teams will head to Qingdao, China; across the mighty Pacific Ocean to Seattle; Panama; and New York; before heading back across the Atlantic to Derry-Londonderry. The Clipper 2017-18 Race finishes on July 28, 2018.

With the birth of my son in May 2016, I had mentally prepared myself to forego any travel plans that may have lay dormant in my mind. I mean, parenting was a life skill my wife and I had no concept of! Fast forward 5 months and as it turns out, babies are pretty hardy creatures. From early on it was apparent that our little one had given us a soft-start to parenthood. “Parenting for dummies” we joke. It was the exact reason I was fortunate enough to travel with friends half-way around the world to attend Italian Grand Prix in 2016. A caring and understanding wife who appreciates my love for F1 gave the green light as if she were Charlie Whiting herself, and we duly traveled afar to witness one of the most historic and prestigious motorsports events.
Fast-forward to April 2017 and the FIA had announced that the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix to be held in October would be the last. The governing body and the promoter could not agree on terms for future events. Rising hosting fees were no longer viable against declining ticket sales. A friend suggested; “We should go, it will be the last race there, and the Malaysian GP is one of the closest to us!” (Living “down-under” can limit your options relating to world motorsport events).
As weeks went by, discussions amongst friends gained momentum; “As things turn out, the Japanese GP is only the week after!” “If we travel that far, we may as well see both!” “The Malaysian dollar is so cheap against ours!”
Again, my ever supportive Wife waved the green flag and after some online searches for accommodation and air-fares, we were confirmed and booked. Sydney, Australia – Sepang, Malaysia – Suzuka, Japan…
Blessed with beaches, forests, and all of nature’s bounty, Malaysia, in many ways lives up to its reputation of being ‘truly Asia’. From the clash of history and modernity in glittering Kuala Lumpur, to the rich cultural heritage of Penang and the pristine white beaches of Langkawi – Malaysia did not disappoint. Whilst spending the majority of our time trackside, we managed to experience the rich culture and nightlife of Kuala Lumpur, A highlight being Jalan Alor food street markets. Whilst Western and European cuisine was hard to come by, the spicy Malaysian food proved a suitable and tasty alternative. Once known as the red light district, several facelifts over recent years transformed the Jalan Alor literally into a food haven.
Rain… that’s what we expected, and as we arrived for Free-practice 1 on Friday, the heavens opened. Malaysia is situated on the equator, 2,300km (1,480Mi) East of Sri Lanka and 2,500km (1,550Mi) West of the Philippines, just north of Singapore. Subject to humid, tropical conditions, the event is notorious for delayed race starts and canceled sessions ever since its inaugural race in 1999. Fortunately, the forecast was kind for us, but with the threat of rain in some capacity daily, the teams elected to run the cars in every session.
Two races prior, Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari held a 7 point lead over challenger Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes Benz. At the Singapore event, prior to Malaysia, the Ferrari drivers imploded at the start. With the fastest car and race set-up, both Vettel and teammate Raikkonen collided with Red Bull Diver Max Verstappen at the start, resulting in a double DNF (did-not-finish) for the Italian team, and a cake-walk for Hamilton who went on to win and take an 18 point lead into Malaysia. Ferrari needed a result here in Malaysia and early form in free practice suggested they had brought the upgrades needed to stay ahead of Mercedes.
Unfortunately, as qualifying unfolded, trouble struck with Vettel suffering an engine issue that forced him out of Qualifying. Hamilton claimed pole for the starting grid whilst Raikkonen went on to secure a front-row start out of position 2. The Red Bull cars of Verstappen and Ricciardo were 3rd and 4th, edging out Bottas in the second Mercedes.
As the cars warmed up for Sunday’s race Ferrari would face even further turmoil as Raikkonen withdrew – His engine too had suffered problems on the way to the start, retiring without completing a lap of the race.
Hamilton lead from the start but was pushed hard all race by the Red Bull cars who were surprisingly quick. An entertaining race saw Hamilton win from Max Verstappen in second and Aussie Danial Ricciardo in 3rd place. Despite the issues he succumbed to in qualifying, Sebastian Vettel was able to bring his Ferrari home in 4th place, however dropping more points to championship leader Hamilton.
Next Race – Suzuka, Japan!
Farewell Malaysia: Staff Photographer Blake Curtis with coverage of the 2017 Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix #Spekture #F1 #Malaysia #BlakeCurtis With the birth of my son in May 2016, I had mentally prepared myself to forego any travel plans that may have lay dormant in my mind.

How Can Western Sydney Air-Conditioning Maintenance Experts Help You Maintain Your Cooling Needs?
Western Sydney MAK air-conditioning professionals are experienced in servicing and maintaining a wide range of central heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. A wide range of systems is offered through a wide variety of service providers in Western Sydney, including high-performance systems, energy management systems, and custom-designed units. To meet the needs of consumers, many HVAC companies provide maintenance services that can include tune-ups, repairs, and replacements, as well as installation and system upgrades. Since these services can often be complicated and time consuming, it is often best to contact an air conditioning professional for these tasks.
Many HVACs require regular maintenance and care to ensure they are functioning properly. This maintenance is necessary to prevent expensive system repairs, as well as costly energy bills, which can result from problems associated with improper air conditioning. A number of factors can affect the performance of an HVAC system, including poor air circulation, excess dirt, and debris within the cooling system, ineffective cooling of the condenser coils, or even faulty temperature control switches. By hiring air conditioning maintenance professionals to perform these tasks, consumers can protect their HVAC system from potential damage or failures.
One of the most common tasks performed by Western Sydney air conditioning maintenance professionals is inspection and testing of the system. The system's condition can indicate a number of problems, including excessive heat in the room, dirty filters, clogged air vents, ineffective cooling, and defective fans. Through this inspection, problems can be quickly identified and repaired, improving the overall efficiency of the system. In addition to inspecting the system, technicians can also test the unit for proper operation. During these tests, AC components are examined for efficiency, and ability to cool, and heat air, as well as performing basic maintenance procedures.
Other tasks performed by these professionals include cleaning ducts and air passages, ensuring correct air flow, replacing worn air filters, checking the operation of thermostats, and cleaning exterior surfaces of the system. Cleaning ducts and air passages is extremely important, as these are the areas where contaminants and allergens are often trapped. This can prove detrimental to the health of the people living in the home, causing unwanted and unnecessary discomfort and illnesses.
One of the most important parts of a successful HVAC system is the air filter. Filters are designed to trap dust, debris, mold, and other harmful particles in the air, improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the system. As such regular maintenance is required to ensure that filters are working at their optimal capacity. Some people unknowingly neglect the importance of changing their air-conditioning filters, despite knowing that doing so can drastically improve the quality of the air in their home. Often times, homeowners do not replace air filters because it can be very costly. However, with a number of Sydney air conditioning maintenance companies available in the city, homeowners do not need to worry about spending too much on professional services.
Once the system has been set up in a home, maintenance is required to ensure that everything is working correctly. If some repairs need to be made to the system, it is advisable for a homeowner to contact a reputable company that has years of experience dealing with various types of systems. These experts have extensive knowledge about how different components work, ensuring that problems are fixed as soon as they are detected. Many homeowners believe that their HVAC system only needs to be serviced once a year, but in order to ensure that the system is always running optimally, homeowners should schedule regular maintenance visits. Of course, the frequency of service will depend upon the location of the system and its use.
If there are any parts of the home that seem to be having difficulty operating, it is recommended that a homeowner seeks advice from an expert. Some common problems include motors that are worn out or failing, leaks in the system, or dirty filters. Professional services can also advise homeowners on the best equipment to purchase in order to improve the performance of their air conditioner. This includes identifying the right type of filters to purchase, the optimal cooling time of each component, the best time for the system to be turned on, and the best time for it to be shut down.
Another reason why homeowners should consider consulting with an air-conditioning-maintenance company is that such companies usually offer a warranty on their services. This warranty can cover repair costs for homeowners who find that their HVAC system does not function optimally after having availed of the service. In addition, the warranty will also extend to anyone who uses the home's HVAC system during scheduled maintenance visits. Some companies also offer extended coverage options that include installation or even replacement of parts that break down. It is thus far one of the best investments that any homeowner can make for his or her home.

Commercial Solar Panels For Schools
More than 1,430 schools across New South Wales have installed solar panels in the past decade for reducing their carbon footprint. These solar systems differ depending on the school, ranging from 18-kilowatt system to 99.9kW system. The new Ballina High School that opened lately has installed a 99.9kW design. The Department of Education have told schools to contact School Infrastructure NSW for installing photovoltaic systems.
