Emi Liveblogs: Revolutionary Girl Utena Ep8, Curried High Trip, Part2

All of Nanami’s animal problems occur in 3s part 2. I think this is just a gag this time? I know the previous time with he horse/bull/kangaroo was a satire of some really specific shoujo anime from back in the day (though I’d be damned to remember the actual name it seems), but the elephants? Are they spoofing something? Are they symbolic? The elephant in the room or something? I have no idea.

But it’s okay to switch Anthy back into that role, right?

Is this to do with trust? Like, oh hey yeah you can read my secret exchange diary, I trust you, I don’t mind. Or is this more like, it’s Saionji’s entry, he’ll probably say something stupid and you can deal with him for me. ?? Anthy, I think you’re manipulating right now but I’m not sure in which way.

This is a fitting response. Also I like that she wrote in pink marker, almost like telling him that it was she that wrote it and not Anthy.

So all of Nanami’s trouble this episode was for nothing! But damn Anthy really can’t cook much, can she?

Another one post update for episode 21. Here are Momo’s opinions on Nanami and Co. Keiko: I’m still not a fan. But I feel bad for her? Like I sympathize with where she’s coming from. She’s in a rough place. I don’t think it excuses her actions and the way she treats other people. I don’t know why she follows Nanami around just because of Touga, but I do feel bad for her. Aiko & Yuuko: These two are awful. They’re supposed to be Keiko’s friends? They just drop her because Nanami says to, and then they act like they’re best friends again at the end. No. How bitchy.  Nanami: I still hate her. This made me hate her even more. She’s a horrible person.  And nothing here has changed. I’m really excited for the last 2 episodes in this arc. Well be tackling them shortly!
