My brain has had more thoughts that are questions:

Assuming the Am Tal can successfully finagle an Andorian to Human operation so they can spy on Earth (for normal Am Tal things), how badly would they (the Am Tal) flip out if their operative was caught at whatever point of entry they used because the Humans were hiding some of their non-Human species that look so very Human that even Humans can’t always guess right?

Am Tal operative going through spaceport security when the werewolf/shifter/siren/etc. is like “No, this one is wrong,” to their fellow customs agents. And the customs agents are 100% deferring to that even though all the paperwork is in order and registered and official! Clearly this is a *random* security check.

Non-Human equivalent of Janice the Secretary who chews gum while filing her nails and typing 200 wpm: *Insert Am Tal Agent’s normal Human name here* needs a form BH-90210 at gate 30… I need a form BH-90210 for *ATAnHn* at gate 30.

This is outside of my wheelhouse as I don't deal with supernatural creatures outside of myths and folklore in my writings, but I can tell you that in any situation a compromised Am Tal agent - or one who even suspects they may be compromised - would remove themselves from the situation by any means necessary. Yes, any means.

Additionally, the Am Tal would not blindly send in an agent and simply hope they got past Terran security. They would investigate the workings and failings of Terran security, first by sending in perfectly innocuous citizens whose paperwork may be slightly flawed in some minor fashion, with increasingly nuanced changes. By observing the processes through which these individuals are detected and detained, including what attracts more attention and who is most likely to be detained, plans can be made.

Remember that first and foremost, the Am Tal are concerned with the gathering and collation of information. They're not going to throw their version of James Bond to the wolves on Day 1 with zero prep - they're going to observe and quietly probe a target's defences in both the physical and digital realms. Why send an agent when a self-deleting virus will do? Why use a virus when Jim-Bob from Accounting at Big Scary Corporation logged in to work remotely from his far less secure home setup and forgot to terminate the connection properly - and with full admin privileges still enabled too?

Still, entertaining something like the scenario you've proposed, being stopped at a security checkpoint for no reason, particularly in the face of good paperwork - forged or otherwise - would set off dozens of red flags. Depending on the agent's task and whether or not they are carrying physical evidence of Am Tal activity, their options vary. An agent carrying no suspicious materials and having engaged in nothing untoward or illegal would first try to navigate the situation through social means to maintain their cover before resorting to other methods. An agent who was carrying suspicious materials or who had engaged in clandestine activities, however, would not take the risk.

Unfortunately, removing oneself from the situation intact may not always be entirely possible, and the members of the Am Tal are fully prepared to protect their secrets by choosing suicide over capture. At the very least, Am Tal agents do everything in their power to ensure that they cannot be interrogated, but if possible this will be done in such a fashion as to destroy their bodies and all physical evidence besides.

Collateral damage, while far from ideal, is nevertheless considered an acceptable loss so long as operational security is maintained.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Andorians do not fuck around.

His blind senses pick up the exact second he heard the fabric.

And he freezes.

Face red. Hands pressed together. Whispering like a prayer:

AND THEN-A SHOE COMES FLYING.

He catches it midair, like a reflex.

He breathed "How did you know?!" (I mean babe Gyomei you are literally gaint)

"...Because you paused your breathing when I took it off!!"

She's yelling. He's apologizing.

He gives her the shoe back. She throws it again.

he was NOT supposed to follow her. She said "Stay on the rocks"

so when she turns and sees him chest-deep, she screeches.

"I said NO!!"

"….You looked like you might slip"

She start swimming away but he follows in his slow, creepy-silent swim style… just gilding like a shark. "STOP!"

"I’m keeping pace"

she throws water at him. He blinks

She SPLASHES HIM. He closes his eyes.

She dives under to escape-only for him to GRAB HER ANKLE UNDERWATER.

She surfaces SCREAMING.

"LET ME LIVE!"

…. …… ….

"Don't look. Don't even move."

He nods. Leans against a tree.

She starts changing.

BUT

He hears a small cough.

He panics. Turns his head out of instinct—

She shrieks:

FLYING SANDAL. DIRECT TO HIS FACE.

He doesn't even duck.

"...l deserved that." He muttered

She's yelling behind the tree. He's standing there with a shoe print on his cheek.

Looks straight ahead like a soldier.

"I'm not even breathing anymore."

Rengoku Kyojuro

He cannonballs in like a fireball.

"MY LOVE!! I JOIN YOUUUU!"

She screeches, swims for her life.

He's laughing, splashing like a golden retriever, sending waves that SWAMP her.

"You cannot escape this flame!!"

She tries to hide behind a rock. He bounds over it like a sea lion and GRABS her waist.

"-PUT ME DOWN!!"

"NEVER!! TOGETHER WE SHALL SWIM INTO THE SUNSET!"

She kicks. He laughs harder.

"Let go!! I'm BARELY WEARING!!"

"Then I'll close my eyes and hold you tighter!"

(chokes on her own laugh-scream)

Oh, he says he won't peek.

"I shall stand guard while you change!"

She runs behind the tree.

BUT THEN-

His thoughts get over him. Just a little peek, making sure there is no snake or something right?

He leans around the trunk.

"'AHー"

"WHAT WAS THAT?!"

"NOTHING!! I WAS GUARDING!!"

She throws a sandal like it's a shuriken.

SMACKS HIS FOREHEAD.

He actually stumbles back.

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!"

"SO IS THE NEXT ONE!"

BONK. Two for two.

Douma

He dives in immediately, fully clothed.

"You thought you could escape ME~?" (She didn’t even escape)

She SCREAMS, swimming backwards.

"YOU PERVERT I'M NOT WEARING ANYTHING UNDER THIS-"

"Even better~!"

She THROWS a rock. He catches it. WINKS.

She swims fast. He swims faster.

Then he disappears.

SILENCE.

She panics. Looks around.

SUDDENLY—he rises from the water in front of her, grabs her by the shoulders.

"Caught you~"

"LET ME GO YOU SLIMY CREEP_"

He pulls her under briefly just to hear her squeal.

Then lifts her up and twirls her in the water like she's a spinning fish.

…. ….. ….

LITERALLY YOU CANT TRUST THIS MAN.

"Okay~ change behind the tree~ I promise not to peek~"

Smiles like the devil. (He is devil btw)

She glares.

He closes his eyes with exaggerated innocence.

But two seconds later?

He climbs a branch.

He's crouched. Eyes wide. Hands on cheeks like he's watching a soap opera.

"Oh~~"

BUT SHE HEARS A TWIG SNAP.

Looks up. Sees his head poking through leaves.

"DOUMAAA!!!"

FLING—a sandal collides with his face

He laughs as he falls out of the tree.

Still holding the shoe.

"Can I keep this as a memento?"

"NO."

He doesn't chase.

He walks in.

Slow. Like he's entering a battlefield.

She's halfway across the river, sees him wading in with his robe hiked up and DEATH IN HIS EYES.

"W-Why are you coming in?! You don't even like cold water!!"

"…."

She PANICS. Starts doggy paddling away.

He moves without ripples.

Just... like a horror movie.

She trips, flails.

HE GRABS HER.

She SCREAMS.

"YOU'RE A DEMON-"

"Then why did you tempt me by coming here in first?"

He lifts her, holds her against his chest.

"Now I'm soaked," he says coldly, "you'll pay for it later."

(She's red from head to toe.)

…. ….. ….

He says nothing.

Just gestures to the tree.

She hides behind it. Starts changing.

Thinks she's safe.

But Kokushibo??

He has six eyes.

He pretends to close the front two.

But the others...

Are sneaking peeks.

She finishes tying her skirt and turns to glare.

"Wait a sec... your eyes-YOU'RE LOOKING!"

He calmly blinks.

"Only two were watching."

"ONLY—??!!"

She throws the sandal so hard it BOUNCES off his chest.

He doesn't flinch.

Just picks it up. Hands it back.

She screams.

My dear, you are not bothering me in the slightest! I adore getting questions, and I absolutely love getting to hear from folks!

The Imperial family is very reclusive compared to most Andorian families, largely due in part to their extremely vigilant security, so very little beyond the bare facts is publicly known about them. Additionally, there's some future Emigre plot stuff involved here, so I shan't reveal all. What I can tell you is this:

To answer your question, the current Emperor of Andoria is Rissithiath th'Zaa'Kor. Rissithiath th'Zaa'Kor is, as the 'th'' in his name would imply, already bonded and married. I'm sure you've read the dossiers and cultural briefings, but I have found that Humans benefit from a... refresher, I believe is the term you use. The Imperial quad has produced three daughters at this time, with their first son on the way. I doubt very much that you will ever meet that man, but if you do - and I really must emphasize this - do not refer to him as anything but His Imperial Majesty. Ever. Not even in the extremely unlikely event that you are issued a direct invitation to do otherwise. I've been reading up on some of your historical inheritance laws where monarchy and rulership are concerned, as you suggested. You might be surprised to learn that the reigning Emperor is not the eldest child of the previous Emperor but actually the youngest son. We do not believe that the order of one's birth alone is enough to qualify one for the throne and its many duties and responsibilities. Prior to the ascension of Rissithiath th'Zaa'Kor to the throne, the elder son and eldest daughter of the previous Empress were both contenders for the role. No one is entirely certain how it came to be that the youngest son was the one to inherit, as the Imperial Clan never announces such things, but it is generally thought that the eldest daughter stepped aside amicably in favour of a different role. A particularly pernicious rumour claims that there was conflict between the two brothers, however, but I urge you to disregard such nonsense. The Imperial family knows nothing but unity. It is their way. You made some interesting assertions in your last communique, which I feel I must correct. The previous Empress was very actively involved in the day-to-day running of their government, it is true. It is also true that the current Emperor is relatively relaxed and delegates a great deal of the powers his mother had previously kept for herself. I say to you: do not make the mistake of believing that this means our Emperor is negligent or disinterested in his duties. It is said, not entirely facetiously, that the snow does not shift on Andoria without the Emperor knowing about it beforehand. I believe this completely. With another tale to spin.

So many days spent working on this...and it was worth it.

A lineup of the main cast for a Talespin reboot set in the 1990s. I had to do quite a bit of research into the fashion trends of that decade to ensure everyone fit in. To be frank, I'm impressed with how easily (almost) all of them take to the aesthetic.

As for how this sort of reboot would work as a show, I have a few loose concepts I might consider posting in the near future, both for reimaginings of classic episodes as well as crossover events, considering I envision this taking place a few decades before the events of the 2017 Ducktales reboot.

Here's some information on what they'd be like along with my thought processes on the character designs from left to right:

Baloo von Bruinwald - Papa Bear here wasn't particularly hard to pin down. I just had to jazz up his wardrobe a bit with a jacket and glasses, really. If I could pick VAs in real life, I'd go with James Monroe Iglehart because not only does he have that deep bouncy voice that invokes the perfect blend of devil-may-care and warmheartedness (Lance Strongbow from Tangled: The Series) but the man can also sing (Asmodeus from Helluva Boss), something we should have gotten more from Baloo in the original Talespin. Besides, it'd be interesting and fun to explore a Baloo with black coding on top of the German ancestry the original Talespin gave him as well as his original Indian heritage from the Jungle Book.

Rebecca Cunningham - Now Becky here definitely got the biggest makeover in terms of redesign. As much as I don't mind her original look, it really needed her personality and VA's performance to do all the heavy-lifting and felt like a product of the time. That's why I decided to depict her and Molly as Plains Cree (hence the added ponytail), not merely for the sake of diversity but to help introduce conflicts that feel genuine and less forced with a nonwhite-coded character. As for voices, Deedee Magno-Hall would work well as her time as Pearl on Steven Universe shows she can do motherly figures but also depict that neuroticism that's key to Rebecca's character flaws.

Bagheera - Yes, that's right. Baloo's original spouse is here like he deserves! Like any rebooter worth their salt, I had to figure out how he'd fit into the universe, especially since I want to incorporate his friendship with Baloo and the other Jungle Book characters - so I decided to make him a former S.H.U.S.H. agent who now works as Higher for Hire's second pilot. There'd be a whole arc centered around him having to confront his past because of F.O.W.L. causing trouble and everything. Now for his design, I decided to go for simple by giving him a very "dorky dad" look as way of making him seem unassuming. Personally, I'd pick Riz Ahmed (Ballister Boldheart from Nimona) as the VA as I headcanon Talespin Bagheera to be Indian-Pakistani. Plus, Ahmed is a dedicated rapper and the idea of Bagheera dropping a diss-track is just too good an idea to pass up.

Shere Khan - Nothing changed. Aside from the flower and cane, nothing about this man changed at all. Really, it's stupefying how little formal business attire has changed between the 30s and 90s. So, I added in an orange gerbera (a symbol of strength and resilience) and a badass cane for extra flavor. I also headcanon him as Chinese-Indian by the way, so make of that what you will. Now while I know none can truly replace Tony Jay, I believe Christopher Judge (Kratos from God of War 2018 and Ragnarok) would come pretty dang close on account of his intimidatingly booming voice and the way he delivers dry wit.

Don Karnage - As time consuming as he was (the teeth especially), I think Karnage's redesign is by far my favorite. Something about him in that flowing coat with the open chest fur just works. In terms of lore, Don Karnage would stay more or less the same, albeit he'd be like that old man struggling with all the doohickeys cropping up. He'd be voiced by John Leguizamo (Sid from Ice Age and Bruno from Encanto) who can do surprisingly good villains, like in Violent Night, yet can still come off as hilarious.

Wildcat - To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if I'm OK with the look I gave him, but I do like the idea of Wildcat rocking a beanie, so I'll keep him this way for now. Other than that, I'd prefer to keep Wildcat as much of an enigma in terms of backstory as the show did, just to preserve that sense of amiable chaos he's so good at bringing. By the way, I'd let his original VA Pat Fraley keep voicing him cuz if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Molly Cunningham - Other than giving her pants longer legs and getting rid of the bow, Molly's not too different. The most noteworthy detail I added would be the cuff bracelet on her wrist. I based it off of this trinket posted on Facebook a while back based on traditional Plains Cree beadwork since I figured that'd be easier for me to draw. For a VA, I'd give her Dani Chambers (Molly from Epithet Erased and Becky Blackbell from Spy x Family) since she's pretty good with voicing cute yet sassy young girls. Kit Cloudkicker - Ah Kit, the one the Ducktales reboot did so unnecessarily dirty. Not to worry, he's still as much of an aviation prodigy here as ever. Besides, it'd be far more interesting to explore a Kit who tries too hard to instead emulate Rebecca, even if unintentionally, to the point of burnout. As for his fit here, I simply switched out his beloved sweater for a nice two-toned jacket. For voices, I'd go with Justine Lee (Ken Amada from Persona 3: Reload) who can pull off sounding like a young spirited boy quite well. Simon Zhong - The only original character in this lineup. Ya'll who follow me might recognize him from all my Kit x Simon art. He's mainly here to serve as a nice chaotic counter to Bagheera (the two of them will parallel Baloo and Kit naturally) as well as a living bridge to potential conflicts with F.O.W.L. I decided to give him a grunge look since black is so prominent in his design, not to mention a Pac Man ghost shirt to hint at his fixation on video games. If he were to be a character in a real-life reboot, despite being pretty laconic, I'd go with Charlene Yi (Ruby from Steven Universe and Chloe from We Bare Bears) since she's got that crackling voice that has its own unique charm.

Louie - Yeah, I gave the main man the Florida treatment. Honestly, I think he looks even better this way. Aside from deeper lore on his history with Baloo and the other Jungle book characters, I wouldn't change much else about him. On that note, like with Wildcat, I'd stick with his original voice actor, Jim Cummings in this case.

Marcos - And now for the guest of honor. Say hello to Don Karnage's singing, prancy, and oh so theatrical nephew (who may or may not take over as captain one day). Because yes, yes this kid will in fact grow up to become the Don Karnage we see in the Ducktales reboot! Between an uncle who keeps berating him for "not acting like a real pirate" and a one-sided rivalry with his uncle's former protege, Kit, poor Marcos has quite the chip off his shoulder. In light of that, Alanna Ubach (Manny Rivera from El Tigre and Mamá Imelda from Coco - God, that woman has range) would be his VA as she can pull off voicing a bratty and overconfident Latino kid pretty well.

Overall, this would be a pretty stacked cast.

I have a Caine request! There’s barely anything for him so far (loved the abstraction headcanons btw) so could you just write general relationship headcanons? Love your stuff, remember to eat a food!

Oh this little fella loves to spoil you. It's his main way to show his love.

Come on, he's almost god in this entire world, you could ask for anything and in a snap of fingers it's already in your front. And your big, silly smile when he bring your treats always get Caine entertained.

Can't really imagine Caine being a guy who's attached to phisic contact, he doesn't hate it, nor does he cares if you plan to give him snuggles, hugs and etcetera, but it's also not the first thing he thinks of doing to you. But of course, some times or others he grabs in your waist.

Caine always try to make his dates woth you perfect (at least in his point of view of perfect). Chic restaurant with classical music playing in your ears, and food from chefs who don't exist but are still professionals! If you have a specific palate, Caine doesn't mind giving you the foods you really like, whether they're from chic restaurants or not.

Caine finds you the most adorable flesh being(that it's not him) he ever had the luck to lay his eyes on, no matter the way your shape looks like. You could be doing a simple activity like playing with a ball, throwing it repeatedly at the wall, and the digital being will stare at you with complete pleasure.

Caine obviously shows great favoritism towards you out of all the characters, which may accidentally lead to some other characters being jealous or resentful of you for having the most comfortable bed among the others and always receiving gifts. In the end, if someone dares to lay a finger in you or your stuff, Caine will not be afraid to interrupt.

Speaking of, yeah!! Caine is kinda protective about you, even though he is aware that you don't get hungry, hurt, sick or sleepy, this buddy still enjoys the feeling of taking care of you.

Kisses are... A bit weird. Ahm... Reader, how do you feel about being kissed by a bunch of giant teeth? Of course you don't mind that's why you requested this.

Caine uses a bunches of nicknames for you! "Dear", "Beloved", "Love", "Sweetie", "Sweetheart", "Darling" and many others! But "Sunshine" is his favorite.

hiiiii im rly enjoying ur occultist posting :3 i have a wuastion that it seems you might be in a position to answer: does it make sense in your opinion for him to be wearing a turban or is that just orientalism? and/or do you have a headcanon for him related to that? from what i understand it rly isn't that common for arab muslim men to be wearing them at all times, and while the characters' backgrounds/worldbuilding is ofc v vague, it kinda seems to me like they just went off a bunch of stereotypes without bothering to put further thought into it and that's why he's designed to be wearing one but if there's a way to adopt that design into sth that makes sense and deepens his character a little bit i wanna hear it :3

the turban style is less common today but it WAS a popular style in the middle ages. its believed to have originated in mesopotamia give or take 4000 years ago.

Golden Middle Age has a good video on this! we also have some examples in historical art (check out ibn sinna, the islamic golden age and also like almost every ottoman ruler)

i personally theorize that lovecraft's abdul al-hazred was inspired by ahmed al-buni (author of shams al-ma'arif/"knowledge of the sun") and other golden age scholars considering that al-hazred canonically lived sometime during that era. i like Lets Talk Religion's video on shams al-ma'arfi.

here are some of my headcanons for DD al-hazred and how he might wear his kufiyeh. while lovecraft's al-hazred is yemeni, i headcanon DD al-hazred to be from like. a fantasy al-andalus (with fantasy yemeni and syrian ancestry). (ive kind of always seen the DD world as Not earth)

so, for history's sake it's accurate headgear! there's many ways to wear a kufiyeh, and nowadays the turban is less popular among arabs but i think thats really recent and it could be dependent on the amnt of industrialization.

i do have some things about the rest of his fit, that i mostly chalk up to the fact he went to school in fantasy england but still prefers to wear a robe and kufiyeh (i can relate except not the england part). the things that i can say are Really Delightful for me to see personally

no opinions on the pants or the shoes. again chalking up some of the design choices to him adopting things from his time in fantasy england + i think he's fairly well traveled. im sure he has a sirwal and a pair of these bad boys that he will Not be wearing into the dungeon

i wouldnt want him to be wearing these in the dungeon either but they get an honorable mention because this evolved into a historical/cultural fashion post.

now DD2 on the otherhand..........

idk whats happening there, thats a whole different story. he shouldnt be an egg imo. i kind of dislike his dd2 design LOL. but he's otherwise a pretty solid design even with the critiques i have.

on topic of kufiyehs, i like kufiyehs that are tassled bc theyre so fun and fashionable. that's a personal preference and i have drawn him that way before (its somewhere on my blog)

i have the nablus kufiyeh from hirbawi and it's my favorite.

also some research tips if you're curious to look more into it:

i highly recommend looking up archival / antique photos of different countries to get a sense of what that particular culture's fashion looks like. these countries also often have museum pages or heritage websites available in english (machine translate is also an option)

i would avoid french and british art. you can actually filter by place and time on most digital collections like the met, the british museum, or university of chicago (UC doesnt get specific though rifp)
