14) Who's a character your OC cannot stand! It's on sight when they see them!

Need I say the obvious? The Outlander. He’s constantly harassed her and turned her afterlife into a living hell. Jaide grapples with conflicting feelings of being too afraid to act and wanting to get rid of him permanently.

And… it wasn’t written super well in the original Masked, but Jaide has a rather rocky history with Snatcher. Jaide doesn’t really hate him (having Ichor in her mask rrrrreaaally exaggerates her emotions), but she does find him insufferable. They’re repairing things, slowly, and post-Masked they become better friends… but he’s still annoying as hell.

Oh, and Vanessa. For obvious reasons.

13) Does your OC have a rival? How did it start?

Hm, one of my sonas, eh? Luckily, I drew them all yesterday, so I have a list on hand of which sona would give me a good answer to this question!

Let’s talk about Medea.

Medea doesn’t have a rival, per se. There’s no one that Medea thinks is on their level- the world is arranged in a strict hierarchy and Medea is almost at its peak. Everyone below him? Worthless garbage. Medea will never acknowledge people as their equal.

But Medea does have two people that hold a special place of hatred in their heart: Jinx and Doodle.

Doodle is… self-explanatory- it’s me! But Jinx is @therealnoot’s character (hi Noot <3). Medea hates both of them because Medea is both of them. They are what happens when Jinx is put in Doodle’s body and their brains combine, basically…. And Medea has very very strong opinions on both Doodle and Jinx.

Basically: Doodle is a pathetic loser who isn’t worth anything, and Jinx is an awful miserable bitch; and both are the source of Medea’s worst qualities. And Medea cannot be convinced otherwise.

…at least, not without a character arc.

Your Oldest OC:

That title would probably have to go to Rynne! I’ve had her for several years now, and she originated as a cringe sona-but-not-it’s-like-me-but-a-sadist-with-a-scythe sorta characters. Gosh, she’s so old, I have no relevant art to show of her!

Your Newest OC:

It’s been a while since I’ve developed a truly new OC…so it’d have to be Drisco and Castarian. They debuted in the mind at the same day, but Castarian made an appearance later so technically he’s the newest!

Favorite OC:

I don’t have an overall favorite… but I do pick and choose favorites from each story I have. A couple of my favorites include Maroon, Jay, Switch, Dislan, and Rynne.

Any Villain OCs?

Go read Masked.

Plenty! Outlander, of course, but we can’t forget Dhá-Aghaidh, Jynx, or Dr. Kruger, now can we?

Main Reason For Making OCs:

Mostly for story reasons that spawn. However, I do have fandom OCs, (and some of them happen to be the most well-known!) but I will inevitably end up working them into a story. OCs spawning from roleplay is a rare sight, and it’s only happened once… believe it or not, that’s how Karmin came into existence!

Describe Your Character Creation Process:

Step 1: Concept for a silly guy comes into my brain.

Step 2: Come up with a basic design for them to be changed later.

Step 3: Inflict soul-crushing pain.

Step 4: Have so much fun inflicting pain that I have to remind myself that it’s supposed to be a story. Suffer without coming up with actual story elements.

Step 5: Receive divine inspiration and everything comes together and I’m so fucking back baby.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until done.

Fav OC Ship:

Castarian and Drisco. They’re not a couple, but they have feelings for each other. They each blame each other for their deaths and refuse to see the other’s way. They separated themselves and feel the crushing loneliness l, but when they’re together they can’t stop arguing.

Drisco wants nothing more than to HURT Castarian, but only HE can hurt him, no one else, since he is the only person Castarian has wronged.

Castarian hates Drisco’s facades, violence, and methods, but those are what helped him in life. Drisco holds the power to make Castarian feel good about himself… and he’s dependent on that.

Do You Ship Your OCs With Someone Else’s OCs:

For everyone else who doesn’t know, my OC Jaide gets to be in a doomed yuri with Sky (the asker’s OC!! Hi Marci <3)

But I do have quite a few characters shipped with those belonging to @corrupted-tale. Like my OC Dislan and her OC Pix. And my Narrator with her Lady Luck.

Weirdest OC:

I’d have to say Bi Solomon earns that title. He’s a fascist furry who reinvented capitalism in a post-apocalyptic world. (And by furry I do mean he’s a Creature btw).

Favorite OC Design:

I REFUSE to let that achievement go to Drisco so Night! ILY Night!!!! You’re so cool and gender and badass!!

Not the greatest picture of it, since it actually has 4 arms and a cool-ass sickle… but oh well.

An OC You’ve Killed:

The easy answer are OCs like Jaide, Levi, Drisco, and Castarian, since they’re ghosts and that’s their whole gimmick.

It’s actually rare for me to kill off OCs and leave them forever, since I feel like they die before their potential is fulfilled. But the previously mentioned fascist furry Solomon dies (good riddance), and I have a pantheon of gods that get slaughtered in a different story!

Are Any Of Your OCs Parents:

Besides Jaide, I do have some others! I have a royal family group of OCs, with King Leonard and Queen Beatrice being parents to a chaotic group of kids.

Dr. Kruger, while not physically being a dad, is burdened with being a single father as punishment for being too William Afton core.

Are There Any OCs You Find Yourself Neglecting:

Each OC has gotten their time in the spotlight, but I haven’t developed all of the characters from that royal family. And I have waning interest if the cast of Ora and the Rift in Time…

There are concept OCs I neglect since I dunno what to do with them. Like Brittlebrine. He started off as a cool concept for exactly one day and then I never thought about him again. And I’m still conflicted on Devon…..

An OC that’s difficult to write/draw/rp:

Vipsi’s hard to write, despite having little screentime. She lost her mind, but I don’t entirely know how to write insanity arcs. Not to mention that I didn’t really know how their story should go…

My entire godly pantheon is difficult for me to draw (except for Lux, since I’ve had her design figured out). I don’t have finalized designs for some of the less important gods, but the design ideas are difficult…

Out of the few OCs I’ve roleplayed, Karmin has been the most difficult (which is ironic, considering she originated from one). I have to actively consider what is going on in her brain and how to present it in a good way. But it’s okay since she’s only ever been in two rps ever.

Your Tallest & Shortest OCs:

My shortest is probably Gemi! He’s less than 4 feet tall. Truly a little guy.

And my eldritch being OCs are the tallest. In their most incomprehensible forms, they’re about 40-70 feet tall? It fluctuates, since they’re impossible to comprehend. But they’re very large.

Your Oldest and Youngest OCs:

As much as I’d like to say my youngest is Levi, he was born 500 years before Masked present! That means that Ora is likely my youngest, being 7 or 8.

Just like with height, my eldritch being OCs take the cake for being the oldest. They’re all billions of years old, except for Thirio and Tsumi. Epithymia is the oldest of them all, but if Nova were still alive, he would’ve won the crown.

Do You Dislike Any Of Your OCs?

Mr. Bi Solomon deserved that bullet to the brain. See you in hell, you corporate motherfucker.

Have You Ever Made A Self-Insert?

Oh yeah. My sona Doodle doubles as a self-insert when I don’t want to make an entirely new character with a flat personality since they’re based on me.

Branching off of Doodle thanks to some sort of evolution is a self-insert named Sketch. Sketch is what happens when I want to ship myself with characters, but they will be the star of the SPM fic I have planned!

An OC Regret:

I have OCs that spawned from ideas that I didn’t fully know how to handle well, or problematic media. They were all from when I was younger, though, so all is forgiven and those OCs have been sent to the fiery oblivion.

6. What do you think your OC was like when they were younger/what they would be like when they grow up?

When Jaide was a kid, she was quite sweet. A little shy and studious, but a nice kid nonetheless.

Levi didn’t get to live past his childhood, but he took after his parents in sweetness. He was a rather curious kid, but learned at a young age that suppressing his questions and bowing his head eagerly keeps him safe. If he had the chance to grow up, he would’ve been a very kind and loyal person.

17. If they had a storybook, like the ones presented in-game, what would it detail about them?

A storybook for the Outlander wouldn’t have much ‘story’, but instead would display the conditions of living in the underworld and give insight into why he acts the way he does :)

As for Ichor, a storybook for them might detail their journey to fill their grimoire and their eventual judgement and entrapment in the mask. Maybe it’s also tease Ichor’s one friend…

19. If your OC was on the Arctic Cruise, what would they likely be found doing? What would they say to Hat Kid/Bow Kid upon interacting with them?

Jaide rather wouldn’t go on the cruise… it’s much too cold for her taste. Maybe she’d be at the beginning to wave the kids off, but she wouldn’t actually get on the boat.

The Outlander, in all likelihood, is probably the cause of the disaster and mess that the kids have to clean up in Ship Shape…

Ichor came along since they want to travel! See more of what the physical world has to offer, y’know? And maybe to pester Snatcher some. They comment on the fascinating or weird things they find.

Karmin’s there for a vacation. She stays by the pool but doesn’t go in. If asked why, she’ll answer that she has a vendetta against water.

27. What would your OC's idle animation/s be? How would they react if Hat Kid/Bow Kid whacked them with their umbrella? (would they do the squeaky toy animation or would they give an appropriate reaction?)

The Outlander has slight motions of his ear/horn twitching and his tail curling, but when you’ve been still with him for a while, he’d have animations of him tapping his hands together and glancing around suspiciously, keeping watch for Jaide.

If you whacked him he would flinch and have various voicelines, like “Ow!” or “Hey, quit it!” or distressed hissing and growling.

49. If Hat Kid/Bow Kid had to fight your OC, how might your OC counter them and what would happen? 

Oh, that’s cute. There’s no way to beat Ichor! :) The battle would be over in a flash. The kids would respawn endlessly until Ichor figures their secret out and uses their timepiece stash to put a stop to it.

43. Share a favorite art piece or creation you have made or someone else made you with this OC!

MARCI. YOUR BOSS SCREENS ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I CAN’T GRAB THEM RIGHT NOW BUT I AM SO FERAL OVER THEM!!!

48. Are there any other OCs that belong to you or a friend that your OC has a connection to?

Weeell, of course there’s your OC Sky, and there’s Ameya (idk their username off the top of my head </3), but I have an ongoing rp with the lovely @gracebeth3604 and @rubys-forest with their Amy and Queen, respectively.

However, I HAVE to mention @corrupted-tale, the og. Jaide has made a wonderful found family with all of Doll’s characters, like Taysa and Lune :)

47. Explain the design decisions that you made when coming up with your OC's design.

Well, Jaide’s design is similar to Moonjumper’s and that was my basis for a lot of it. Similar mask, funky thing going on with one eye, etc. I don’t remember much from designing her.

The Outlander’s design has changed a lot over the years. The shadow creature vibe was still the same, but he used to be a little floating blob. I think it was better to make him more humanoid.

As for Ichor, they’re based off both the Outlander (since they’re a similar species) and Jaide (lore reasons).

And Karmin? I wanted her to look a lot like Vanessa :) They aren’t related. I just wanted to create fun parallels.

44. Are there certain gestures or quirks your character might make when speaking? Any specific body language they often exhibit or habits they have? (An example of a gesture could be speaking with their hands or putting their hands together and body language could be shrugging or often avoiding eye contact or tilting their head when asking a question, ect.)

Jaide has a lot of little habits. When she’s flustered or anxious, she avoids eye contact. When she’s especially nervous or distressed, she’ll pick at her bandages.

Both the Outlander and Ichor can’t sit still ever. They have habits of twitching their ears/horns, flicking their tails, etc.

Karmin likes to make a lot of hand gestures while she speaks. Counting on her fingers, rolling her wrist, just dramatic gestures, etc.

38. What are the languages that they can communicate in?

Karmin can only speak English.

Jaide speaks English mainly, but ghosts have their own language. Ghost language is hard to describe. Normally it’s telepathic, since some “words” and “phrases” deal with things intangible and incomprehensible to the living. So when it’s spoken aloud, it sounds quite foreign to the mortal ear. If that makes sense…?

Devils and demons are above language, so they can theoretically speak anything. However, English is most convenient for the setting. They also have their own language, but again, it’s mostly silent.

OC Fact #30

oh my god how are we at thirty.

Demons and devils are capable of purring! It's very, very rare to hear it, though. They only purr around people that they trust without reservation, which is a HIGH honor.

The Outlander has never purred around anyone. Ichor hasn't either, though their old friend used to purr around them.

OC Fact #22

The only way to kill a demon or a devil is to destroy their heart.

Unluckily for everyone else, they can exist without their hearts in their bodies, as first learned by the Outlander when he entered the physical world. In the physical world, devilish or demonic bodies are built purely from shadow magic and have no heart whatsoever.

Their hearts lie in the Underworld. Down there, all dark creatures keep their hearts within them, in order to protect them. A vulnerable heart will inevitably be destroyed.

Demonic and devilish hearts can only be destroyed by magical attacks, since they only exist in the Underworld. Even then they take incredible amounts of power to destroy, for the heart is their core.

The Outlander's and Ichor's hearts still exist in the Underworld. The Outlander hid his heart shortly before entering the physical world, and Ichor's has an odd invulnerability that their old friend put in place before they left.

ok, out of sheer curiosity, just how powerful are the masked characters?

this has been on my mind for a couple days now and i really need to know

I never define magic on a linear scale since it fluctuates, but that generally won't affect the ranking of how strong they are.

So! The ranking is based on magic power levels, from weakest to strongest. And since some characters have a dramatic power level change in the fic, those will be ranked too.

First off are the kiddos. Physically, they're the strongest, they have incredible knowledge of time magic, and they can respawn, but their magic ability comes out to a flat out zero. So they're at the bottom of the list.

Then we have Levi! All ghosts, including Dwellers, have a small amount of magic to exist as a ghost. So he places above the kids.

Next is post-Ichor-in-the-mask Jaide. She's still powerful! But just not as powerful as other ghosts, so that's why she's ranked so low.

On the same level are Snatcher and Moonjumper. They have the same magic level, but there's a huge dependency on who would win in a fight when it comes to what strategies they use, how they're feeling, etc. Snatcher's assertiveness can often bring him to victory over Moonjumper.

And then, with over double their power level, is Prince. He's ranked pretty high in terms of how much magic he has, but he's relatively weak magically. He barely knows about his own magic, and therefore has little control over it. He's very powerful, but lower on the list just because so many people are levels above him.

After him is Vanessa. As royalty, she was powerful, and that only escalated when she became a ghost. After all, she did manage to cover a whole city with ice, and curse the rest of the kingdom...

Next is pre-soul-feast Outlander. He's MILES above Vanessa. I cannot emphasize how powerful devils and demons are here.

Bonus since they've appeared in a oneshot! No one expects the Badgeseller! They don't often use their magic except for making badges. They don't fully feel comfortable using their magic, considering it's not theirs.

Ichor-in-the-mask Jaide comes next. Her relatively weak natural magic power plus Ichor's sheer power while dormant makes her one of the most formidable characters for the majority of the fic. She wins the bronze medal for this one.

Coming in screaming with the silver medal is post-soul-feast Outlander. Souls are relatively weak when it comes to demonic magic, but boy has he stacked up. Thank goodness he got his ass rapidly shredded in the fic, because a true demonstration of his magic ability would be terrifying.

And, at the top of the list, with little surprise, is Ichor. They have incomprehensible magical power. Outlander is a step up from most, but Ichor is several times more powerful.

Welp! That wraps it up for the Masked characters' power levels! Or at least the ones that appear in the fic...
