Maria originally made this artwork for me in 2023 (my first ever AHFOD fanart!), so it may look familiar to some of my readers.

I finally completed my Lucera fanart! Was inspired to draw her after I discovered @presidenthades ‘A House Full of Daughters’ AU the year prior, which has helped in improving my mood by a lot. I think I fell hard after reading ‘The Golds’ (which I was able to actively get updates on as the author was still posting updates at the time, it’s been completed as of now)! Right now I am reading there newest addition of their AHFOD AU which is ‘Compromise and being Compromised’ (surprisingly enough this is my go to fic if I want to read a fic that has a happy premise, compared to the other Lucera fics that are usually really angsty, or just pure heart break. I’m looking at you ‘When Dragons Danced’ and ‘The Dying of the Dragons’ 👀 Although on a side note I would love to eventually make fanart for TDOTD and WDD, especially more so when WDD was my the first Lucera fic that I got to see actively posted up until its completion. Of course, I would also love to draw some fanart for TDOTD as that was recently completed, if anyone is looking for some angsty Lucera fics I would totally recommend these two as they are completed and the writing quality is pretty great). Back to my fanart piece for AHFODs though, overall I am really happy with how she came out in the end. I am open to drawing the rest of the Velaryon girls however that would probably have to be at a later date. Anyways, onward to the details!

* Lucera’s dress is obviously in various shades of blue. Not only as a shoutout to her favorite color, but also in slight homage to her Arryn and Velaryon family ties/roots.

* Gold is included in her dress as well as it seems that the Velaryons are more partial to including gold instead of silver from what I can recall from the last time I was able to watch ‘The House of the Dragon.’ That’s not even including that the Targaryens are also partial on having gold placed within their clothes as well.

* Of course she is going to have some sort of Seahorse motif included in her dress to pay homage to her house.

* The Arrax brooch is also there since she is also paying tribute to her dragon.

* I added the swirls, so that they kind of come off as whirlpools (call back to my Naruto days baby! 😜).

* Pearls since our baby is the ‘Pearl of Driftmark!’ Represent!!!

* The silver sea star is included as she is the future lady of a house that is usually seen in correlation with the sea 🌊

* There are hints of the OG teal of the book!House Velaryon House colors included within her jewelry and adornments that are scattered across her dress.

* The multitude of seashells are included as another representation of her house and the sea 🐚

* The oranges are a call back to her favorite fruit and perfume. President Hades actually brought up a good point of it also being a homage for Laenor, I had actually forgotten that he was also mentioned to have had also been fond of the fruit as well as coconut (which I sadly forgot to add, but that can be used for a later piece, maybe 🤫)

* The carnations are in relation to the actual actor who ended up playing teen Lucerys which is Elliot Grihault, and his birthday happens to fall in January, so of course I had to add one of the months flowers which one happens to be the Carnation. I decided to go with Red Carnations as the color represents a variety of things including love, affection, passion, and distinction (and we know our girl is definitely all of these)!

* Cinnamon flowers are included as Lucera is also noted to have a love for this spice. If I remember correctly from ‘The Golds’ Aegon is able to notice that Cassandra Baratheon is wearing this perfume so that she could entice Aemond (although for those of us who read the fic, we know that plan flunked in the end).

* Orange Blossoms are also included to go with the Oranges 🍊

* Lillies are included to highlight love, femininity, and innocence ( the innocence is more in line with Lucera and Aemond’s younger years when they were both children).

* In many ways the manner in how I drew Lucera somehow ended up reminding me of Layla/Aisha from Winx Club, a show I grew up with which I very much loved. Even though I am more of a Flora girlie I have to give props to Layla/Aisha (shout out to Lay Lay! 😆 side note: Lay Lay will always be Layla to me, I said what I said 😤)! I kind of want to draw Lucera in clothing that pays homage to Layla now, lol! Who knows if I ever do get back to drawing Laena, along with Rhaena and Baela I might have to implement this as well. That’ll be a lot of fun, especially for my 10 year old self!

* Lastly I decided to draw Lucera being surrounded by a flower wreath as a reference of sorts to all of the Voltron fanart that used to be prevalent back in 2016-2018! (Rip Voltron fandom, I very much still miss you 😭 🪦).

Other than that I believe that is everything. I may take another hiatus of sorts to focus on my school work. I also want to find new coloring methods along with possibly revamping my art style. That’s all for now!

AHFOD: My Experience

I’m at a friend’s flat, waiting for the morning to catch my train home and this seems as good a time as any to write down what I can only describe as the best time of my life, so here it goes. I wasn’t lucky enough to watch them perform live back when they were touring and all that did was make me crave Coldplay more and more. So I decided I’d do everything to see this film when it came out. The nearest theatre showing it was 500 kms away but I had my mind set. I travelled to a different city (took a whole night as well) but I was HYPED. I was a little afraid too because I didn’t really know what to expect. The trailer looked good enough but I was worried that I had built it up in my head too much and the reality would only be disappointing in comparison.

Boy was I in for a surprise.

The film was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. Just when I thought I couldn’t be more in love with them, they hit me with that. I honestly felt every single emotion that it is possible to feel in that very short timeframe. I walked in the theatre beaming, all decked up in my coldplay merch and I came out beaming too, but at the same time, sobbing. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I loved it so much. I felt so so proud of my boys and I’m so happy that they have achieved what they have. There’s no one in this world that deserves it more than them.

I used to be a passive fan, only listening to some of their hits from time to time but about three years ago, around the same time as the release of the new album, something clicked and I just couldn’t imagine a life without this band. Their music became so much more to me than just something to put on while I concentrated on other things. I listened to everything they have ever done, front to back and then the other way around, soon after, and I can honestly say, they made me feel like I was alive again. That was a truly difficult time in my life and they gave me something I didn’t even know I needed- hope. This is a bit dark but I probably wouldn’t be here today, writing this with the dumbest smile on my face and tears in my eyes, without those five guys. Without ever knowing of my existence, they were there for me at every point of my life. They were there when I was hanging by a thread, they were there when I managed to pick myself up and dared to hope, they were there when I thought I wasn’t capable of love and then when I thought I couldn’t possibly be more full of love, they were there when I had given up and they were there when I was lost and then when I found who I was. They have been there every step of the way and they’ve given me so much, I’m eternally grateful. I love Chris, Guy, Jonny, Phil and Will more than anything else in this entire world. A Head Full of Dreams was a masterpiece and despite being like a million miles away from where they are (probably), I feel like we’re all in this together, we’re one big band.

The tumblr Coldplay fandom used to be pretty crazy around the ahfod- everyday life era! After that most people just gravitated to twitter because that’s where all the fun was sadly! But it was a good time!

And if you’re sad about the end of Coldplay, don’t be- if we’re being super honest I don’t see any possibility of their last album being released by 2025, i mean it’s possible for sure but it’s unlikely. And Guy has always had his little side projects, but listening to his new bass lines and just looking at how he’s absolutely beaming, im sure he still loves being in the band! So don’t worry! All is good ❤️

A final look back at Coldplay’s incredible journey and accomplishments from the AHFOD era!

I started reading a House Full of Daughters because of Lucemond Im a huge fan of Aemond (altough I hate the Greens) and call me crazy but right now Im actually wanting to read more the mirror verse Aegon than the new Compromise chapter

You are that good you made me an Aegon fan with your version of Aegon, the show was so dissapointing in season 2 that I kinda gave up and now I prefer to think your vision of the world is the "canon".

TBH I am tempted to poll my readers and see how many people were part of the “Looking For Aemond Fics” ➡️ AHFOD ➡️ “Unexpected Aegon Fan” pipeline. 😂

When I finished posting Daemon’s Handbook, a bunch of commenters were hoping the next fic in the series would be Lucemond-focused. Most readers had yet to be converted to Aegon fans, so at the time, it felt kinda risky writing The Golds. Fandom can move on quickly in the current age, so waiting several months while I posted Jacegon meant risking that some readers who came for Lucemond might get bored and jump ship. I’m very glad that this was not the case!

I really enjoy writing Aegon. I definitely fell in love with his POV/headspace while writing The Golds and Lavender. I had trouble getting started on Compromise because I needed to adjust to writing Aemond and Luce, who are very different from Aegon and Jace.

But now that I’ve had time to get familiar with Aemond and Luce’s headspace, I really enjoy writing them too. With these two, it’s easy to fall into the trap of reducing them to standard-issue romantasy “edgelord Prince of darkness + sassy not like other girls FMC.” Getting inside their heads allows me to flesh them out. Yes, Aemond is edgy, but he’s also a nerd who gets nervous around the girl he likes. Yes, Luce is sassy and unconventional, but she loves her female relationships and hides her vulnerabilities by talking a big game.

Anyway: I love writing Aegon, and mirrorverse is going to be a fun side project. I also love writing Compromise, which will remain the main project. Keep in mind that I can’t write anything else in the Main Timeline (Joff/Daeron, Jacegon’s adventures in parenthood, other big events I have planned for the future) until Compromise is done. There is no spinoff!AHFOD without canon!AHFOD. 😇

I also have two Lucemond/Compromise artworks that I got last year, and I’ve been sitting on them for a while. I keep telling myself I’ll share them when the time is right, but I have no idea when that time will be. 😅

Brief Music Response: Album Cover Imagery

On my research for my album imagery I came across Coldplays A Head full Of Dreams cover. Everything about this cover fascinated me to the colour, imagery and symmetry.

The cover itself was designed by Pilar Zeta in 2015. Before designing the cover Zeta collaborated with Chris Martin to create art in a studio in London. For it she made a 3 meter handmade college including the childhood images of the artist. Zeta and Martin would later collaborate again with Chris painting in the studio along with his children.

“Actually, the band’s kids came and they did all these beautiful paintings, so I wanted to include those too. So if you see the mountains of the collage at the top, the layers, it’s pieces of their kids paintings that I scanned in. So it’s like a mix of everything. And at the end it looked really good.”

Zeta and Martin would then go onto creating a kaleidoscope version of the college and then used it as the cover art of the album including a colourful version of the flowers of life designed by her.

Me and Chris met again in New York with all the material. He wanted to see everything. And he said, “Why don’t we try make the collage like a kaleidoscope?”. So when I multiplied the collage and created this kaleidoscope, we tried cropping it to a flower shape and somehow that’s when everything came together. Then they were like, “What can we put in the middle? Right, the Flower of Life!”. And it fitted perfectly.

Pilar is an Argentinian artist and creative director. She is a surrealistic artistic. Her artworks are futuristic and she uses strong colours and a lot of collages in her artwork. Pilar did the art direction and design for Coldplay’s “A Head Full of Dreams” album cover sleeve. I found her designs to be really interesting. She has worked with Coldplay on another album cover too. She has also worked with Katy Perry for artwork for her live performances and music videos, among other music artists.

Pilar is a self-taught artist and designer. When she met with Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, and his manager, he discussed how he liked geometry and the fibonacci spiral with her and how he would like to incorporate this into the album cover artwork with a lot of colours. The artwork became a collaborative piece with all of the band members as well as their kids and Pilar contributing bits to form a massive collage.  

As the band wanted something geometric they then had the idea of ‘The Flower of Life”, that is used in geometry, with overlapping circles. It looks like a hexagon made of circles. It is a pattern used in nature and it has a really powerful meaning. So she made this with all of the colours of the colour wheel. I think that it is very striking. They ended up making the collage with the “The Flower of Life” into a kaleidoscope, and this became the final cover album artwork. I love the strong use of colours and all of the different imagery that is used throughout the collage.
