what do you think about ang huling el bimbo the musical :0 (and other filipino musicals too)

I didn’t get to watch it myself (so take this with a grain of salt!), but from what I know from friends who HAVE seen it and people I know in the industry, it’s got a mess of a story and the songs aren’t particularly well incorporated into the plot (as a jukebox musical, and my very very personal opinion is generally against those because I love when songs r specific to shows, but that’s just me!)- I do know a lot of people who LOVED it though and I’m not gonna like. rip it outta their hands yk? it could’ve done with a rewrite and overhaul (though a friend of mine who’s a producer said it had a run that was FAR too long) but the music is great and the actors were good! (if I’m remembering reviews correctly)

as for other Filipino musicals, I’m super conyo and just started being active in local theatre recently, so I haven’t been able to see any live (and I probably wouldn’t understand them AHAAHAHHAHAHAH) but I do plan to as soon as I can!! all the better to support local artists and keep the art alive :D
