when your daughter walks in on you | pjs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: husband!jay x wife!reader
genre: married au, comedy (tried my best), fluff
warnings: suggestive, jay sucking boobs like a madman
your husband has had an exhausting week and needed some way to relieve the stress he had related to his workplace.
and that’s why, you were here know trapped in his hold in the kitchen, “missed you s’much baby” he said as he open mouthed-ly(?) tracing your neck leaving kissed and licks here and there til he reached your earlobe.
as soon as you opened the door, he looked at you, yes with those goddamn eyes. next thing you know, you’re pulling him from his tie. “fuck can we do this? like in here—“ he asks as he lifts you up easily in one go and puts you on the counter“i have put her to sleep, use me all you want jay.”
the approval was enough for jay to let his guard down as he dives in again attaching your lips with his, you were wearing a cute loose set of night wear with easy access, in one swift move he pulled your top down by the shoulders as he took a step back appreciating your mounds.
giving each attention one by one, jay knew how needy you grew when he gave most of his attention to your chest he took your left nipple between his fingers and pinched it, fondling with the other one all while keeping eye contact.
“l-lick them jongseong, feels s’good when you do that” you said as you kept your hand on his, the one massaging your breast as he bend and took one of it in his mouth.
licking, sucking, making out messily with saliva everywhere as you arched your back with your hand on his hair and the other on your mouth to not disturb your ‘sleeping’ daugther.
few minutes into it, jay felt your body really stiff, not squirming or whimpering anymore, maybe she’s too lost in i—
“appa don’t you think you’re abit to old to be doing that?”
shit
shit
shit
oh fuck
his head shoots to the direction of the stairs as he sees your 4 year old daughter, half sleepy half astonished, wiping her eyes with her chubby hands.
now standing straight, not knowing what to do he stares into blank space for a while then stares at you
blink
blink
“ah, yes.. baby uh…” you say breaking the silence as you thought, was better than the silence. “didn’t you say she’s asleep” he whispers, almost just mouths while shooting his big wide eyes at you.
brushing a hand through your hair, you get of the counter “could’ve atleast pulled my shirt back up jay” you mouth another sentence at him blaming him in panic while fixing your top.
“baby, weren’t you sleeping?” you ask as walk to her and run a hand over her head, “i dunno… eomma i heard sounds… breaking sounds! i thought bad people came in..” she says, still clumbsy with her words as you chuckled,
“oh well, uh mommy and daddy were playing a game okay?” you mentally face palm yourself as you hear jay’s embarrassing made up excuse, still funny as even you were out of excuses— i mean what the hell would you tell your 4 year old daughter who just walked in on your husband with your titty in his mouth??
“hmm” she says as she looks around, honestly not taken aback or interested in it at all, thank god thank god she was in her sleepy state “i want ice cream” she demands as jay now picks her up in his arms.
the sigh of relief that left both of your mouth were synchronized, you knew your daughter and how she doesn’t process anything when she has just woken up, similarly and gladly this was the case as for what she just saw.
“you can’t have ice cream baby, it’s midnight.” jay coos at her as she puts her face on jay’s neck and nods already drowsy and sleepy, you felt bad for her to be woken up and disturbed like that.
shooting at sorry glance at jay who was pretty much sulky right now as the sexual tension was ‘ruined’ and probably not coming back again for today as your daughter was pretty much stuck by the glue to his chest as she slept.
putting her to bed, you entered the room as you found jay on the bed hands splayed around the bed, as the baby slept peacefully in her room now, the two of you exchanged knowing glances and started quietly chortling over what just happened
“a message would be good?” you say between the laughter sitting beside his laying figure putting his head on you lap.
“massage it is.” he says, smiling with embarrassment.

Poison (Part 1/4)
Pairing: Alpha!Bokuto Koutarou x Beta!Reader
Summary: You loved love, but it wasn’t made for you… but maybe a certain Alpha could change your mind
Word Count: 5.8k
A/N: MSBY Black Jackals time period
AU: Omegaverse
Tumblr media
“I don’t care about your presentation. It shouldn’t matter whether or not you’re a Beta and I’m an Alpha— I love you for you and not because of my biology—“
”Fucking liar,” you grumbled glaring holes into your tv, “You only love her cause it’s in the fucking script,” you grumbled once more, shoving the Valentine’s chocolate you had bought for yourself into your mouth.
”Hmmm… and you say this is your favorite movie because….?”
Your eyes snapped to your laptop, wide open and displaying your younger sister.
Truthfully you were sure every single person in the world would find you to be quite the pathetic display right now. In the midst of February, crying about fake love stories while stuffing your face with heart shaped chocolates, and talking to your sister that had to make time out of her busy school schedule just to hang out with you over FaceTime. Not to mention your hair was a wreck and you looked like you had been awake for days.
But at the age of 24 you stopped caring about the optics long ago… plus no one was ever here to pity you anyway.
”Because it’s a beautiful fucking love story about a Beta finding true love,” another chocolate down the hatch.
”Isn’t the actress an Omega in real life?” She snorted.
”Yeah and you can tell no Betas worked on this film cause they got so much shit wrong. Like how would she be able to tell he was pissed off in that one scene by his scent? We can’t smell that shit,” you ranted, throwing a piece of chocolate at the tv. Out of the corner of your eye you could see your cat walking up and sniffing the chocolate before batting it away. “They also make her too submissive.”
She hummed absentmindedly, filling in one of the answers in her homework, ”Well what do you expect? You guys only make up like, what— 2 percent of the population?”
”Maybe if you Omegas and Alphas didn’t fuck like bunnies, we wouldn’t be dying out.”
”Hey!” Your sister yelped, looking up from her homework, “Mom told you not to say stuff like that anymore!”
You grumbled something to yourself, sinking further down against the foot of your bed and into the carpet, “Sorry.”
“God I can’t wait for February to be over,” she muttered going back to her homework.
”At least I don’t bother you with this year round now. If I’m destined to die alone I can take one month out of the year to be insufferable.”
”Oh sis, you need some serious help.”
”That’s what the chocolates are for,” you say through a mouthful, “Ah! Don’t eat that Mochi!”
From your sister’s perspective she sees you suddenly leap out of frame giving her a view of the dance pole you had installed in your room— a secret you made sure both your sisters would take to the grave just so your parents wouldn’t find out. And just behind that she could faintly make out the shelves upon shelves of anime figurines you collected in the dim light of your room that was only illuminated by the TV and your laptop. You returned seconds later with a cat in your arms.
She sweat dropped. She loves you with her entire heart but holy shit, you were becoming the stereotypical sad cat lady day by day.
”Tell me again why you can’t just go out with one of the million volleyball players you manage? Or what about the other guys on the other teams? I thought you said most of them don’t have mates?” She asked, putting her pencil down and finally giving you her undivided attention. “I’ve seen some of the pictures of the guys on your team too, they’re all hot.”
You groaned, throwing your head back against the foot of your bed, ”There’s so much wrong with that question I don’t even know where to start.”
”Enlighten me then,” she deadpanned.
”Okay, one, they’re like the most stereotypical Alphas you’ll ever meet— like the Alphas of Alphas, which means a Beta is probably the last person they’d ever date. Two, most of them are unmated for good reason, they’re professional athletes, they don’t have time for that. And three, they’re my co-workers, it’s not professional!” You exclaimed, throwing a fist in the air and causing Mochi to meow and squirm out of your hold.
She narrowed her eyes at your dramatics. “Is that all?” She asked sarcastically.
”There’s probably more— ah shit the movie’s over,” you said, noticing the credits beginning to roll.
”Thank God,” your little omega sister muttered, “It’s time for you to go to bed anyway.”
”Sleep is for the weak,” you grumbled, a pocky stick hanging out the corner of your mouth while searching for a new movie.
”Huh-uh sure it is. It’s 2am and don’t you have to get up at 6?”
”5. I’m going on a run to burn off all the chocolate.”
”You could just not eat it.”
”Funny.”
She rolled her eyes, “Anyway, Ne-Chan is going to your place tomorrow right?”
”Oh yeah, that’s right,” you muttered, forgetting about your older sister’s stay.
”Thank God, she can help you through tomorrows episode instead of me.”
”Bitch.”
She started closing her textbook, ”Ok I’m gonna—“
”Y’know tomorrow will be the first time I’m seeing any of you in like a year.”
”That’s cause you never visit.”
”Well you guys could come visit me too y’know?” You scoffed, picking at your cuticle.
”Nuh uh don’t pull that, we’re all here and you’re the one that wanted to run off and isolate herself after you started making bank as a manager.”
”Yeah whatever,” you grumbled.
”I’m gonna go to bed now,” she hummed, “And you should too.”
You only grunted in response.
”Love ya, talk to you later,” she waved.
”Love you—“ she hung up, “…too,” you ended with a sigh.
You took a second, staring at the blank screen and remembering just how lonely you felt now that you were by yourself before going back to scrolling through the movies once again.
* * * *
You jolted awake to the sound of your alarm that following morning.
You turned over, registered that it was 5am, turned off the alarm, and turned back around.
What were you thinking? A 5am run? The sun wasn’t even up yet. You weren’t like the weirdos you managed on the team. You’d much rather stick to your usual workout routine.
You fell back asleep.
You would actually wake up two hours later at 7am to go to work. The guys had a 8 am practice but you couldn’t spend the practice time with them anyway as you’d be locked away in your office all day. After their last tournament they had an influx of sponsors come in and now you had your hands absolutely full with that.
However, now with the sunlight filtering in through your curtains, you forced yourself awake and to get ready for the day.
You sat up, your bed head looking worse than it did when you fell asleep. Quickly glancing around the room with bleary eyes you saw the mess you had made. Wrappers, boxes, used tissues scattered everywhere, with your tv still on.
You sighed before forcing yourself to your feet, stirring your sleeping cat on your bed. You quickly gathered the garbage together and threw it out followed by turning off the tv.
You passed by your calendar, February 8th, only six more days until Valentine’s Day.
Your shoulders slumped as you dragged your feet over to your closet.
Truly you weren’t this desperate and pathetic all the time, it’s just this month that always seemed to get to you.
Old habits die hard, you supposed.
Ever since you were a child you dreamed about growing up and getting married, you dreamed about falling in love and experiencing the type of love that completely electrified you and made your head dizzy, you dreamt about being held by a man that was completely crazy about you.
Maybe it was a bit naïve, but it’s what you always wanted.
But then you had to go and present as a Beta.
You were the only Beta born to a completely traditional family. Your father was an alpha, your mother an omega, your two older brothers were both alphas, your older sister was an omega, and your younger sister was also an omega.
Turns out your great grandmother was a fucking Beta and that’s where the gene came from.
You also had no issue with being a Beta, the problem lied with the fact that Betas were so rare nowadays they were impossible to find, and other Betas would have been your dating pool. But now you were stuck feeling undesirable by both Alphas and Omegas who only wanted to mate with each other.
You slammed your closet open, a bit rougher than you intended and pulled out a pair of black slacks, a white button up, and your blazer.
It wasn’t your typical dress attire everyday but your schedule was full of zoom meetings today with both sponsors and magazines. Any other day you would have been assisting the team during practice and dressed in one of your track suits.
You quickly stripped and dressed yourself for the day.
Now it also wasn’t as if you didn’t try within the field of love. You fought tooth and nail to experience any kind of romantic relationship but a girl could only take her confessions being rejected by Alpha after Omega after Alpha so many times. Not to mention being ditched on blind dates. For you the cumulative number that was your breaking point was thirty times.
You loved love.
But it wasn’t made for you.
After dressing, using the bathroom, brushing your teeth, and putting on your makeup and putting your hair in a tight bun, you headed to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee in a to go cup before heading out the door to start your day.
The game plan for the day was to greet the team before hiding away in your office for the rest of the day. You’d meet with the CEO of Bouncing Ball on zoom followed by another sponsor you couldn’t remember but you were pretty sure it was some energy drink company. Then you’d start getting the schedule in order for the match against the Adler’s later this week. Following that you’d meet with two Sports magazines back to back to set up some interviews— speaking of interviews you also—
“Fuck,” you hissed on the train ride softly, immediately going through your bag for your agenda. The passenger next to you threw you an annoyed glance but you paid them no mind. “The press conference.”
You quickly wrote down in your agenda, that contained both your work and personal life schedules on one calendar, a reminder about that press conference that’s coming up. Then you quickly put it in your phone calendar as well.
Interviews and press conferences were a nightmare for you, between Hinata, Atsumu, and Bokuto you had your hands completely full with making sure they were in the right place at the right time because somehow they never were unless you had them all on tight leashes.
Yeah maybe you didn’t have someone to love or love you back the way you wanted but you did have your career. And as much as they liked to drive you up a wall you did enjoy your job and your coworkers. On top of that you were still able to make a pretty decent life for yourself as you were completely independent and self sufficient, in fact you were able to send checks to help support your family now. Your apartment was basically an expensive suite that always looked immaculate due to the fact you were even able to afford a maid.
The train stopped and you got off. Now with some caffeine in your system there was more of a pep in your step. You knew that once you stepped a foot into the building you’d momentarily forget all your woes and instead act like the professional that you were as you threw yourself into your work. Your sister would be coming over later in the day and you had your Pilates class that night so you certainly had a full day ahead.
You headed straight for the gymnasium, stalking past your own office as you put a smile on your face.
Pushing the door open you headed straight towards the bench where Coach Samson and Meian were currently talking. You waved to Atsumu, Hinata, and Sakusa who were currently starting their warm ups, you assumed the rest to still be in the locker room.
You could immediately hear the squeaking of their sneakers on the flooring, the smell of salon-pas invading your nose. The ceiling was so much higher than the one of your old high school and the lights much brighter as well.
”Good morning Samson-san, Meian-san,” you nodded towards them with a smile.
Samson returned your warm smile with one of his own, “Good morning (Y/N), you seem cheerful as always,”
”What’s not to be cheerful about?” You shrugged, “Anyways I went over your schedule yesterday, looks like you’ve got a full day of practice huh?”
”Yeah,” Meian answered, “It’s the Adlers, some of the guys are getting worked up about the upcoming match so we figured more practice wouldn’t hurt. God knows they’re gonna over practice anyway.”
”That is true,” you snorted.
”And you?” Samson asked, “You’re all dressed up again, stuck in more meetings?”
”That I am. Got some meetings with one of our sponsors and some new ones. Then I need to set up interviews with VolleyballWorld Mag and Sports Monthly— oh and we have that press conference on the 25th coming up but I’ll give you more details when that gets closer.”
Meian whistled lowly, “I’m glad I only have to do the playing, I’d lose my mind if I had your job.”
”Oh it’s not that difficult—“
”I thought we talked about not selling yourself short (Y/N),” Samson interrupted, “You’re the only manager I’ve dealt with that hasn’t lost a single sponsorship for this team. Not only that but you handle these knuckle headed Alphas so well I think they’d fall apart without you.”
You laughed at his comment and grinned, “I do appreciate the sentiment so thank you,” you nodded, “Now I only wanted to stop by and say hello, I have to prepare for the meetings now so I’ll head out. I’ll be in my office all day if you need anything.” You began turning around, waving at the two, “Good luck with practice today—“
”(Y/N)-CHAAAAAN!!”
Your shoulders immediately tensed, your eyes widening, Oh fuck—“
Suddenly you had the air knocked out of you as you were quite literally swept off your feet by a much larger force, now being rocked side to side in the Alphas embrace as he squeezed you against his chest.
”Bokuto-san,” you managed to wheeze out, “I thought we discussed this?”
You could instantly feel him deflate, “We did…”
”And what did we say?”
”No hugging Miss Manager.”
”And why?”
”Because it’s unprofessional.”
You waited a beat for him to react but he didn’t, “That means put me down Bokuto-san.”
A second later you were back on your feet.
You huffed, straightening out your blazer and ignoring the dejected look on Bokuto’s face. After working with him for so long it was quite easy at this point. You patted his arm.
”Thank you. Always a pleasure Bokuto-san, good luck with practice—“
”You’re not staying!?” He suddenly exclaimed.
“You do realize her job isn’t just handing out towels and water bottles right?” Meian asked.
”Yeah but… Beta-chan hasn’t been to practice in ages!”
”That’s because you guys keep doing so well. The more sponsors you get the busier I become. Now you really should get to practice, it’s almost 9 now.” You said, checking your watch, “And don’t worry, I’ll be attending practice again before you know it.”
You were just about to turn and leave before Bokuto stopped you again.
“Wait! I have something for you!”
You watched in slight annoyance as Bokuto ran off to his bag and shuffled through it. Seconds later he was pulling out a black fabric and a Tupperware and then running back to you.
At this point the entirety of the team was watching whatever shit Bokuto was onto now.
”I found your jacket!” He pushed the fabric towards you.
”Oh?” You accepted it, quite surprised, “I dunno how you found one of my things again but thank you… actually I dunno how I keep losing it,” you muttered under your breath.
”And this is for you!” He exclaimed once again, handing you the container in his hand.
”Huh… Another bento?” You asked peculiarly as you looked through the container before you sighed, “I thought we talked about this as well Bokuto-san? You can’t be giving me gifts all the time it’s not—”
”Professional! I know! But I didn’t make them for you this time! I made it for me and these are left overs!”
You sweat dropped at his explanation, “Bokuto-san that’s the same thing. I can’t accept this.” Suddenly Bokuto deflated, like he always did when you declined his gifts.
You then glanced behind him at Meian who just nodded his head towards Bokuto.
You sighed.
”Alright fine,” instantly he perked up, as you took the container, “But I’m telling you you can’t keep doing this. Now go practice, I’ll try to stop by later if I can.”
With that you were spinning around on your heel, heading out of the gymnasium with your sweater and the Tupperware in hand.
Behind you Bokuto stood proudly with his hands on his hips as if he accomplished something just now.
The rest of the team stared at the scene with quite exhausted faces. This kind of show was so typical now, it came as no surprise.
“How many days does that make now?” Atsumu scoffed, leaning back into his stretch once again.
“Fuck if I know anymore,” Sakusa grumbled back.
”HEY HEY HEYYY!”
“At least he’s in a good mood!” Hinata chirped as Bokuto ran at full speed towards them.
”Did’ya see that!? She accepted my gift!—“
”Bokuto!” Samson suddenly snapped, “Stop talking and start stretching!”
”Right!” He held a thumbs up at his coach, causing the older man to roll his eyes, before joining his teammates on the ground to stretch as well.
”She also hesitated before accepting it and told ya to stop again,” Atsumu said.
”Yeah but I think I’m making progress,” Bokuto grinned happily, “She’ll be my mate in no time!”
”It’s been nearly a year Bokuto,” Sakusa muttered.
”And how was that any different from what usually happens anyway?” Inunaki called out to them after overhearing the conversation.
”Because! That makes the 52nd time she’s accepted one of my gifts and only the 49th time she’s rejected it! And she didn’t give me penalties for hugging her this time.”
”Only?” Sakusa sweat dropped, honestly he envied how blissfully stupid Bokuto could be at times.
”If she hasn’t done anythin’ about ya courtin’ her then she doesn’t know yer courtin’ her!” Atsumu snapped in frustration, “Ignore yer stupid instincts for once and ask her out already!” Clearly he was the most annoyed with watching this show drag on for this long already. Yeah, maybe it was funny in the beginning but now Bokuto’s stupid Alpha behavior and your own obliviousness as a Beta was becoming painful to watch.
”Maybe Bokuto’s right!” Hinata butted in, “She seems to be a lot more accepting of his hugs now!”
”That’s cause she’s used to it,” Inunaki snickered. “Also whatever happened to the idea that Bokuto is also probably not her type?”
”Whaddya mean not her type? I’m everyone’s type!”
”Yeah I’m sure she likes you for your modesty,” Sakusa muttered sarcastically under his breath.
”Why wouldn’t I be her type?” Bokuto asked, seriously looking like he was trying to rack his brain for the answer.
”Well because, she’s so…” Inunaki trailed off, “Professional. And you’re…”
”You don’t think I’m professional enough for (Y/N)-chan?”
As if on cue, everyone snorted as if he just told a joke.
”You too Hinata?”
”I mean… (Y/N)-chan she’s… very…”
”Any day now,” Sakusa grumbled.
”Serious! That’s the word! She’s very serious about her job while you’re a lot more fun!”
Bokuto frowned as if he was offended, “You don’t think (Y/N)-chan is fun?”
”And you do?” Inunaki asked surprised. “None of us know anything about her. She doesn’t even go to the celebratory dinners or team bondings— we’ve never even seen her in her casual clothes.”
“That’s a good point,” Atsumu agreed, “She’s not on any social media either and she only ever talks to any of us when it has to do with volleyball— she’s like a fuckin’ NPC. Ya know nothin’ about the Beta, how’d she even manage to get ya wrapped around her finger like this?”
Bokuto stared at the gym floor and had that look in his eyes that his teammates knew too well at this point, “You’re wrong about her—“ he looked up at his teammates, “There’s more than that to Miss Manager! I know it— it’s like in her scent! And when I find out you’ll all see you were wrong!”
”So dramatic,” Sakusa said, “You keep saying this shit but she still doesn’t even know you’re interested in her.”
”Yeah, cause he won’t just fuckin’ ask her out!” Atsumu exclaimed.
”You say that now but just wait until she realizes what I did with her jacket!”
Atsumu looked at Bokuto in horror, “The fuck did ya do with her jacket?”
“I washed it with my laundry, scented it, and slept with it in my bed for a week!” He exclaimed proudly, Atsumu’s innuendo completely going over his head, “Now she’s bound to know I’ve been scenting her!”
The others, even Hinata, stared at Bokuto dumbfounded as they watched him close his eyes with a stupid grin on his face, clearly visualizing what he thought would be the moment you realized he scented you.
”I don’t know how many more times we have to say this to you,” Sakusa said, “But Beta noses don’t work that way. If anything she’s just gonna think her jacket smells like a man, I doubt she’s familiar with your specific scent at all considering she’s always around us when she does see you.”
Bokuto deflated.
”Ya know what will get her to finally notice ya?” Atsumu asked.
Bokuto perked up again.
”If ya just asked her out already!”
* * * *
You stalked into your office, the door slamming shut behind you.
You dropped the container Bokuto gave you onto your desk, placed the coffee cup down, draped your jacket behind your chair, dropped your bag onto the ground, and finally you sank into your seat with a sigh.
A smell wafted around your nose and you immediately knew it was your jacket as you sunk deeper into your seat.
It smelled like a fucking man.
”Seriously? Was it rolling around in the locker room or something?” You grumbled to yourself.
You still had an hour before your meeting with the CEO for Bouncing Ball.
Now you could go over some notes and brush up on anything you’ve might’ve forgotten but Kenma Kozume was probably the most laid back sponsor you’ve ever dealt with and you knew your extensive knowledge about his company and all your business dealings wasn’t as impressive as it was to most other CEO’s.
And also, you didn’t want to study anyway.
You glared daggers at the container which held the lunch Bokuto made. You already made your own lunch for the day so maybe you’d give to your sister when you got home.
You glared harder at the container. “Left overs my ass,” you grumbled. There looked to be three servings of food in there.
You didn’t know why Bokuto was so persistent when it came to giving you food but if he was this generous with you then you knew he was going to make some lucky Omega out there very happy.
“Lucky bitch,” you muttered just thinking about this metaphorical Omega. “… I wonder what Mochi is doing now?”
Before you knew it ten o’clock had rolled around and you found yourself entering the waiting room for your meeting with Kenma.
And just as you had expected, you weren’t accepted until a half hour later.
”Sorry I’m late,” Kenma muttered, clearly looking at whatever was on his computer screen than the zoom meeting. “I lost track of my stream.”
”No worries,” you hummed, “I was able to get some other work done in the meantime.”
”I’m gonna keep this brief,” more words that didn’t surprise you, “I wanted to talk to you about giving MSBY more money.”
You blinked in shock, back straightening up as you processed his words, “You want to give more, but you already give—“
”I know how much,” he hummed, “But I want to give more.”
”Oh well— thank you. Let me just grab my books and I’ll adjust a few things,” you said, immediately reaching for one of your binders that was placed neatly in your bottom drawer. “How much do you—“
”Double.”
Your jaw fell open briefly, but you quickly regained your composure, “Alright well— that’s- that’s great news. Amazing even. That’ll help pay for the repairs in the gym and then some. Thank you Kenma.”
”You’re welcome,” he hummed absentmindedly, “Tell Shouyou I said ‘Hi,’”
”Of course, as always,” you nodded, “Should I tell Bokuto you said hi as well?”
You could see a slight smirk on Kenma’s lips, “No.”
“Very well,” you snickered. Kenma didn’t seem like the type but you had come to realize he liked fucking with people sometimes.
”Feel free to tell Samson you negotiated for this deal.”
”I would if I could but everyone knows you don’t give anything to anyone unless you want to.”
He shrugged, “I suppose.”
”So was that the only matter you wanted to discuss for today?”
”Yeah. You have that meeting down with my advertisement team for the fifteenth right?”
You glanced down at your large desk calendar which as opposed to your agenda in your bag and your phone calendar only had your work schedule.
“Yup, right here. Will you be in attendance?”
”No, I trust you when it comes to dealing with them.”
You snickered once more, “Isn’t that supposed to be the other way around?”
Kenma glared sourly at his screen, “You would think but some of those guys are becoming more and more incompetent with each day.”
”Well then I’ll be looking forward to that meeting,” you joked, “But if that’s all, I’ll leave you be. And good luck with tonight’s stream.”
”Thanks. Don’t lead Bokuto on too much today—“
”Huh?—“
”Goodbye.”
He hung up.
”Fucking CEO’s,” you muttered under your breath.
* * * *
The day had progressed quite smoothly. You had managed to get everything with the sponsors clarified and confirmed. You scheduled all the interviews that needed scheduling and on top of that you were even able to smooth over some of the details concerning the press conference at the end of the month.
Practice had ended hours ago now, you knew because Bokuto tried sticking his nose in your business as usual before Meian forced him to go home so you could work.
But now you were finally finished and packing up for the day. You shoved everything you needed into your bag, even your blazer since you’d much rather wear your jacket in this weather. You inspected it further and it had looked clean, it just very obviously smelled like the volleyball players. You’d just throw it in the wash when you did laundry later that week.
You then shoved the bento in your bag as well before taking off for the night.
Your sister was already at your place. She had texted you around noon and had let herself in with the key you hid outside for her.
So really, you should have expected the impact when you were suddenly pinned to the ground the moment you stepped into your apartment.
”(Y/N)!!!” Your older sister had screeched above your face as your bag and its contents went flying across the room. The door was still wide open, letting the sunlight and cold air filter in over the two of you.
”You bitch!” You yelped back, before quickly flipping the two of you over so you had her pinned instead. She struggled under you but you had always been stronger than her. “You’re too old to still be greeting me like this!”
”I’m 26! Stop acting like I’m on my death bed!” She yelped, still struggling.
“Why haven’t you visited sooner! It’s been a year you whore!”
”Why haven’t you visited us back home! Sending checks every month to mom and dad doesn’t count as visiting!”
You glared at her.
Her hair was longer now and she of course still looked as beautiful as ever.
You loved her dearly but growing up in her shadow, the most popular and beautiful Omega girl in your high school with a scent that had literally pushed multiple Alphas into ruts and even made one pass out once… well it was difficult.
You remember a cruel joke about you back in high school about how your sister was the one that got confessed to by all the Alphas and how you were always the one that had to do the confessing.
But you haven’t internalized this at all.
Of course not.
Her hair fanned out behind her, her skin was bright and glowy, her canines which were sharper than most (and also made her look like a cute little kitten according to most Alphas) poked out from behind her giant smile.
But her face suddenly screwed up in surprise as all the joy disappeared from her features which were now overshadowed by a seriousness you weren’t used to seeing her wear.
”You smell like Alpha.”
You blinked at her owlishly. “Yeah I was at work all day dummy.”
”No, no.” She suddenly sat up, pushing you back to sit up as well. She leaned in and took a deep whiff of your jacket, “You like, reek of Alpha.”
”I kinda lost this jacket a week ago and I’m convinced it was rolling around in the gym,” you offered as some explanation to the smell.
”No you idiot,” she flicked your forehead, making you wince, “You smell like one singular Alpha— are you hiding something from me?” She suddenly accused.
You scoffed, a sudden heat crawling up your neck and face as you stood up abruptly, shut the door, and kicked your heels off.
”I have no idea what the hell you’re insinuating,” you grumbled, walking over to your bag and shoving everything back in, besides the bento which you left out to put in the kitchen.
Throwing your bag on your couch, you stalked into the kitchen with your sister hot on your heels causing her skirt to sway behind her.
”Are you seeing someone?”
You stopped short, and abruptly spun on your heel to face her to which she almost crashed into you. “That’s— that’s a completely r-ridiculous question!” You spluttered, face now on fire. “And if I was, you know I’d never keep it to myself!”
Your sister tapped her chin and looked up in thought, contemplating your statement, “Hmmm… that is true…. But I’m telling you little sis, you seriously stink of Alpha right now. Like so much it’s kind of ridiculous.”
”And I’m telling you it’s just cause it got lost in the gym—“
”Oh please, I’m not buying that. You know my sense of smell is much sharper than yours so you should just listen to me.”
You clenched your jaw and ignored your thundering heartbeat resonating in your ears, “Like… so… what exactly does it smell like then?” You tried to question nonchalantly, crossing your arms and busying your fingers with a strand of hair. The thought that some Alpha scented you, that someone was interested in you was flustering you in a way no romance movie ever could.
She grinned knowingly, “Well whoever it is, they’re strong as hell— I must say that that’s probably one of the strongest scents I’ve smelled, like Ushiwaka levels strong—“
“I told you to never say that name again,” you suddenly snapped to which she just waved off.
“Will you please get over that, you’re twenty fucking four now.” You clenched your jaw and pursed your lips, silently seething at your sister. “Anyways, whoever it is must have a big personality too, like I feel like his scent is giving your jacket more presence than both of ours put together— oooh what’s that!” She suddenly pointed at the bento box.
She always did have the attention span of a flee… especially when it came to food.
You looked down at the meal, “Oh, someone at work gave it to me today. You can have it if you want.” You then turned and opened your refrigerator to put it away.
”Hold up,” she grabbed your shoulder and forced you to face her again, “Someone at work? As in one of the million Alphas you work with?”
“Why do you and little sis both think I work with a million Alphas?” You rolled your eyes.
”Answer the question.”
”Yeah. It was one of them. So what? He said they were leftovers.”
”(Y/N),” she said your name seriously.
”What…?”
”That Alpha that gave you that. He’s courting you.”
You were pretty sure you stopped breathing at those words. You could practically hear the fax machine noises as you tried to comprehend the meaning of that statement.
”Bokuto-san… courting?” No. “Stop being stupid,” you hissed, slamming the refrigerator shut and stomping past her now.
He was just overly friendly with everyone. And someone like Bokuto with his big and shining personality, the kind of Alpha that made Omegas swoon when even getting a hint of whatever scent he had that your Beta nose couldn’t pick up (you’ve even witnessed it). Someone that strong and powerful would want an Omega. You’ve even heard from his teammates that he purely ran on instinct— why would his instinct tell him to court a Beta.
”I don’t know who this Bokuto is but I’m telling you he’s courting you.”
”He isn’t,” you hissed with finality. Your sister immediately straightened up. It was an underhanded trick but you realized long ago that Omegas would even listen to Betas with the right tone. “Drop the subject because you’re starting to piss me off. Alphas like him don’t like people like me alright? Now I’m going to get changed, we’re gonna watch movies together, and then I’m gonna drag your ass to take my Pilates class with me. Understood?”
There was a sour look on her face but she nodded, “… yeah, alright.” You walked upstairs, ignoring her when you overheard her muttering, “I don’t see why I need to take your dumb class with you though…”

[Spoilers below cut]
Past Ink: Guys, it's fine. This isn't a serious episode, it would be too soon for another arc. It's just gonna be another silly Saturday.
Current Ink: ....
(the following is my live reaction:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[*unholy screaming*] FOUR NOOOOOOOOOOOO
WOW WHAT A GREAT START TO THIS EPISODE, SCRATCH EVERYTHING THAT I SAID ABOUT THIS BEING A "NORMAL" EPISODE
NOPE I NEED TO PAUSE, I NEED TO TAKE A WALK BC I'M NOT GONNA GET OVER IT, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS COULD LEAD
they're not gonna do it in this episode BUT the fact that goop!4 is being acknowledged in every way possible, we might just have a sequel in our hands
Tumblr media
NO NO NO CUT THE INTRO, I HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED THE EPISODE YET AND YOU WANT ME TO MAKE A THEORY ON IT ALREADY? HOLD YOUR FUCKIN HORSES, I'LL GET THERE GEEZ
anyway, we have to press play...
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure someone already has done a pirate au (no I'm not over what I just watched) and anyway, artists: here's pirate SMG4
Four, you should've read the file name before downloading it [*shakes head*]
Wait, is this going to be a parody of computer buddies? That's actually pretty fun..... OH NO NO NO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, so we are doing computer buddies
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually, yeah, can we have Mario as president please
love how it says "no one even compares to mario. especially smg4 who sucks booty cheeks [or ass] and mario doesn't"
Observe as the SMG4 fandom gets terrified of the word "perfect" [*screams*]
MARIO MARIO NO NO NO HE DIDN'T SAVE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I felt that in my core omg
as a graphic designer, this hurts
apparently, there's a whole new dimension in our computers, Only in the SMG4 Universe [*cheesy thumbs up*]
We really are getting all the computer buddies, huh? I wonder if KinitoPET will appear
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[*silver the hedgehog voice*] It's no use!
BRITISH SMG3
wow what a funny bit... WAIT HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE, LOOK AT THE MEDIA BOX
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the eyes....
w̷̹̓e̷̼̽ ̸̯́n̴̩͆e̵̝̓v̴̼͑ë̵̤r̴͓͛ ̷̭͝l̵̦̎e̴̞͗f̵͉̐ṯ̴͗
and the left eye too... oh god, the EYE OF RA— [*gets shot*]
honestly, Four, you improved your aim ever since Western Spaghetti (ik you also did for PV but that's not the point)
I knew they were gonna bring in buff Luigi again
I'M SCREAMING
THERE IS NO WAY THE TEAM JUST DROPPED THAT ON US, THIS CAN'T BE REAL
ok first off, the fact that Four has a folder labeled "Super SECRET Spicy Memes" is giving "totally homework" folder energy (and I don't want to even think more about that)
hey, Four did say that Three brings some spice into his life (yeah, "rosemary to my bread" and all that jazz)
SECOND, the fact he has an image of SMG3 with him saying "whats the matter smg4 kun?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEN the "I know what you are" audio clip...
Four, buddy, you're down bad aren't you?
like "woah smg4's bisexual, I didn't know that", the closet is out of GLASS so we been knew but I DID NOT expect this
Tumblr media
having Three be a tsundere is one thing, but FOUR....
🫵🏳️‍🌈⁉️
"they're dating behind the scenes" at this point, yeah
we have to keep going... [*secretly puts this clip on the fridge*]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hate this so much /silly
[*chaos ensues*] [*sips my coffee*] just another tuesday saturday
GOTTA GO FAST GOTTA GO FAST— [*gets tazed*] i can never catch a break c'mon man
oh hey Swag!
four dollars is four dollars, you got yourself a deal
ok, I'm gonna need everyone to see Four's cute little hops here:
Tumblr media
look at him go, my silly little goober :) oh, now you have? then let's keep going
holy shit, this fight scene is so well animated!!! LET'S GOOOO
never thought I'd see the day of seeing biblically accurate bonzi in an SMG4 episode and yet here we are.
Tumblr media
SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP
THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I'VE SEEN IN MY LIFE, I'M ASCENDING
"...but they hugged before" NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
A normal hug, where two people cross each other and are unable to see the other's face since it's over their shoulder, is just as it is: a normal hug. It can be seen as platonic and/or romantic.
THIS is a lot more intimate. 3 and 4's heads touch while they hold each other by the hand. This type of hug is reserved more for romantic partners when the situation leads them to a devasting end, where they face each other to look at and remember what their partner looked like, one last time before they die.
In this case, it makes sense as the computer is collapsing within itself.
"It's not actually them tho." Yes, they're digital copies of 3 and 4 but that's the thing: they're COPIES, acting on what 3 and 4 would actually do
SMG34 shippers, we are eating GOOD today yum yum
but then, that begs the question: would there be a moment where 3 and 4 would reveal their feelings for each other at the worst possible time?
(you guys are not going to be ready for my next episode concepts) What, who said that?
uh anyway them 💙💜 gotta put it on the fridge
I feel for you, Four, but I have a horrible feeling about this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...
Foreshadowing is a literary device—
no seriously, I feel like this could be part of a future arc where a past villain would ruin everything Four has and would offer up a deal when Four would be the most desperate. There's always a catch. Hmm, why does that seem familiar...?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your life's work or your friends, it's your call, SMG4
:)
HELL YEAH FOUR, THROW IT AWAY (omg just like how he chose Three over the USB, I'm crying dude)
also congrats to Ourstor08954957 for the lovely art in the end credits 🎉 such cute doodles ❤️
Tumblr media
.・-: ✧ :--: ✧ :-・.
Oh boy, what an episode. I feel like I'm in another plane of existence right now. Everything was absolutely incredible, great job Team!!
Everyone, say THANK YOU to whoever put the SMG34 crumbs in there, we shall treasure it for the rest of our lives. I'm gonna put those moments on my fridge. OH I would love to see the artists draw the SMG34 hug or pirate Four!
Love the fighting scene right by the end and the little details they have added in there. I guess it's "Torture Ink with the Idea that Goop!4 May Happen" day but hey, I'm so normal about it (no I'm not). I've been a bit stressed since finals are coming up so I'm thankful for anything this episode for me.
(If anyone is curious, the WOTFI website is still up and yes, I am logging its status just in case.)
I'm sure everyone is going crazy over this...

Lives that won't be missed. Lives like yours. Seven mysterious and powerful men give you another chance – one that starts to feel more like a curse the moment you meet golden boy Jungkook. The boy who wants you as far from his brothers as he can get you. Is it you he hates, or the blue lightning that now runs through your veins? And could it be his golden light that illuminates your heart when darkness threatens? 🗲this chapter: Jungkook doesn’t seem to be angry for the reasons you expected.
🗲pairing: jungkook x female reader 🗲word count: 5.7k 🗲genre: angst, action, eventual fluff, enemies to lovers, slow burn, superheroes/villains au, found family 🗲rating: pg15 🗲warnings: violence with superpowers, swearing, injuries, blood, more guilt and self-doubt, past parental death
a/n: something about jungkook skidding a 180 to stop his bike and just running into the storm.... yeah🥵
Tumblr media
A faint knock disturbed Jungkook.
Half-standing from where he had been sat rigid on his bed, he found himself facing Jimin. The other man peeped sheepishly around the door, head dipped apologetically.
Although Jungkook didn’t want to scare his hyung, it was impossible to shake the tension from his frame. The venomous exchange with you still ran hot through his veins. He did feel somewhat responsible for dispelling the group with his foul mood when he had returned upstairs. Maybe they had gathered up and saw fit to invite him again?
It was probably what he needed, even if he didn’t feel particularly sociable right now – so long as you weren’t there. He could do without a reminder…
“Have you seen Y/N?”
Eyes snapping back to Jimin, Jungkook’s brows twitched irritably.
“No,” he shot, incredulous.
At Jimin’s slight wince, Jungkook did feel a bit guilty and swallowed away some of his attitude.
“Okay, I didn’t think so…”
Still, Jimin hovered there biting his lip instead of leaving. He took a breath and eyed Jungkook carefully again.
“But you guys… spoke, right?” Jungkook’s brow raised. That was a generous way to put it. Jimin pressed on, “where did she go after?”
Jungkook straightened up fully.
“I don’t know…” he blinked, confused, frown rapidly clearing to be replaced with apprehension. “Why?”
Jimin’s hand curled tighter around the door. He dropped his eyes before speaking.
“We just… can’t find her right now.”
Jungkook’s face screwed up, uncomprehending.
“What do you mean you can’t find her?”
“Yah, Jimin-ah,” a call stole both men’s attention.
Stepping further into Jungkook’s room, Jimin made way for Yoongi to stride in. The older man stopped, looking to Jungkook.
“Do you know where she is?”
“No!”
Yoongi breathed out steadily, then turned to Jimin. Dipping his chin, his next tone was quieter, making Jungkook strain to catch it.
“The training rooms are clear. Jin’s lab, too.”
Huffing quietly, Jimin shifted on restless feet. Suddenly looking up, he decided to keep questioning Jungkook.
“What did you guys even talk about? What did you say to her?”
Jungkook’s head was spinning. Had you seriously gone missing? Would you have left? He thought his heart dropped enough at the notion that he could have driven you out with his words-
Until the next thought crossed his mind with terrifying clarity.
Oh. Oh.
“Shit.”
All eyes snapped to Jungkook, who stared ahead without seeing. For a moment, they held their breath with him.
Then he blinked rapidly, shutting his gaping mouth.
“She’s gone after him.”
It was Jimin and Yoongi’s turn to gape.
“What?” Jimin shook his head, blinking.
“She’s really not here?” Jungkook reiterated.
Yoongi shook his head.
Jungkook’s only response was a decisive step forwards, walking between the others, who backed out of his way, startled.
“She’s gone after Monsoon?” Jimin echoed as he passed, his voice a hollow whisper.
Equally horrified, Yoongi stared at Jungkook.
“Is she mental?”
Jungkook cocked his head but didn’t stop, only looking over his shoulder in the doorway.
“You hadn’t noticed?”
Carving a beeline through the space, Jungkook drew the eyes of the rest of the group that stood nervously around the space. Even Namjoon was there. Hobi was still looking around, as if he might find you under one of the sofa cushions if he just looked hard enough.
Scurrying after him, Jimin offered an explanation after Jungkook stayed stubbornly quiet.
“He says she’s run off to… to Monsoon.”
Namjoon’s head snapped around to Jungkook.
“She told you that?”
“You think she would tell any of us if that was her plan?” Jungkook retorted, without looking around. He was bending down to observe something below the counter.
“What-? she wouldn’t,” Jin insisted.
“Then why are there keys missing?” Jungkook straightened up.
Namjoon cursed.
“She’s walking to her death,” he then muttered, marching to the door, “we need to find her. Now.”
And so it was all action for the second time that day.
Jungkook was close behind his leader, already swinging a set of keys from his fingers. Tugging a hand roughly through his hair, his feet flew down the steps to the garage.
“And where are we meant to look?” Jin asked, rushing to catch up.
Pausing in the entrance, Namjoon locked eyes with Jungkook.
“Wherever we might find Monsoon.”
Jungkook gave a single nod.
“Alright. Hope, Jimin, with me,” Namjoon jabbed his thumb towards a car and they were off.
Jin peeled away with V and Yoongi while Jungkook forced his legs not to break into a sprint. He hot-footed it to his bike, threw a leg over and was away before any of the others.
Whizzing into the night, rain whipped about his face. Speeding through the buffeting wind forced his mind outwards, on squinting through the storm and not on you. Wherever you had got to. He prayed he wasn't right – but picturing the way you had never quit when he fought you, how you had recklessly trained even at the risk of losing control of your powers… he couldn’t see another explanation for your disappearance.
He couldn’t explain the certainty he felt about it. Didn’t want to.
So he urged his bike faster, the engine roaring below him the only comfort as it ate up the road between you.
The radio crackled through the storm, the others coordinating their destinations. Needless to say, you would be somewhere along the docks, but that didn’t narrow it down much. Jin was heading north, the others central.
Jungkook never responded, his original intentions unchanged.
At the first opportunity, he turned towards the river. He ditched his bike right at the end of the docks, where the concrete became earth banks again. Hardly caring to park it, he only left it upright by sheer luck as he took off running the moment the engine cut.
The storm was thicker here, rain slicing his vision. Blundering on, frustration knotted tighter within him at each stretch of empty paving. Dark shapes loomed, but each was just a piece of machinery, or another container dotted about between the floodlighting.
His heart jolted dangerously at a sound from the radio.
“We’re definitely on the right track,” Namjoon spoke, “the car’s here.”
Somehow that didn’t make Jungkook feel any better. An abandoned car, an abandoned dockyard… where were you?
One more look back, just in case, before he rounded the next large container, impatient eyes roving the desolate scene. It was as he stepped into the light on the other side that a rogue wave was thrown against the bank some way ahead. The slap of water and fountain of spray drew his eyes. Flecks caught the floodlight and rained back to earth in a shower of gold, before the wave was beaten back by the same wind that coaxed it up.
A gust pushed damp hair into Jungkook’s eyes. He brushed it back, eyes fixed on the same spot.
Where the river retreated, something remained.
Heart plummeting like a stone, his vision tunnelled, only seeing the path to you.
His feet moved before his thoughts. Racing towards the body slumped on the ground. No, no, no…
Then, movement. Slowly, you brought your elbows up, palms pushing you from the ground. One hand stayed there, steadying, as you clumsily got your legs below you.
Standing with trepidation, you hardly had time to look around before Jungkook was on you.
He ran to you without slowing, grabbed you, his rough hands finding your arms, wide eyes scanning you intensely. One hand held you steady, but the other shifted instantly to your face.
“Have you lost your mind?!”
Breathless, you simply stared at the man in front of you. No answer found its way to your lips even when his eyes flicked up to meet yours. They burned, but not in a way you were used to. Fear and disbelief blazed brightest in his gaze.
The fingertips at your jaw shook. His thumb hovered on your cheekbone, where blood wept from the cut, diluted in spots by the rain.
His gaze swooped back down to eye it, thumb finally making careful contact with your cold skin. Next, he found the gash above your eye. His jaw tightened, but his severe grip eased to a something gentler at your shoulder.
After the last hellish moments, it felt all too good to be held within his hands.
Meeting your eyes again, he suddenly blinked. Pulled back minutely, as if startled.
As mild mortification took over his features, his touch lightened on your arm, but didn’t disappear. His hand lifted from your face, and for a moment he stared in horror at the bloodied digits.
Then he dropped it, looking sharply back up at you.
Before he could make his last ditch effort to save face and step back completely, he felt you sag into his hand. With the shock of your most blatant injuries wearing off, he tuned into the way you shivered, out of breath, and cradled one arm closer to you.
“What the hell were you thinking-? What did he do to you?”
Jungkook’s heated tone wore off halfway through the questions.
Giving in, he stepped closer, raising a hesitant arm on your other side. Still breathing a little too fast, you latched onto it without a thought, grasping his elbow to lean on, panting.
Even through your exhaustion, cold shame permeated you. You couldn’t meet his eyes.
“I couldn’t get it back,” you admitted.
Jungkook frowned down at you incredulously, even though you didn’t see.
“And you’re insane for trying,” he muttered, already twisting to scan the area you found yourselves in.
Releasing the hand on your shoulder but keeping the arm which bore your weight, he steered you both towards the nearest shipping container.
“We’re going home, alright?”
It hardly sounded like a question.
More wobbly on your feet than you were ready to admit, you followed without protest despite your confusion. Jungkook should be throwing you to the curb! This was your second failure of the day. Your whiplash only increased when you stopped in the relative shelter of a container and Jungkook shook one arm from his jacket.
The river had chilled you, but it wasn’t only the temperature difference that burned when his hand touched yours. He eased your fingers from him for a moment, just long enough to slip off his other sleeve.
It was only then that he hesitated, glancing at the jacket in his hand, and then at you, a little shaken.
He didn’t look you in the eyes as he slung it around you at last. But his pretence at concentrating on fixing it around your shoulders was disrupted at a hiss from you.
You bit your lip, but it was too late. Jungkook pulled back, eyes zeroing in on the slash through your sodden top, hanging away from the bloody cut beneath. Then to the wrist you hurriedly shielded with your other hand.
“Hey,” he murmured, “let me see.”
Before you could convince yourself to object, tentative fingertips were gingerly sliding up your waterlogged sleeve to reveal the deep bruising there, patterned by the sole of Monsoon's boot.
Pure worry filled Jungkook's eyes and he gulped. It was too much for you to look at.
“Thank you,” you murmured, tugging at the heavenly warm jacket and ignoring the sting.
Jungkook nodded absently.
“We’ll wait here… Do you need to sit down?”
Neither of you were meeting the other’s eyes. You chewed your cheek. As much as you wished you could stand strong and prove to Jungkook that you had any respectability left, your legs were not on the same page.
You sank to the ground, grip on Jungkook slipping away. Your frozen hands retreated to the warmth inside his jacket instead.
Only letting his eyes linger on you for a moment, Jungkook forced his gaze to the churning river as he finally remembered his radio. It was hopeless really; he only got as far as lifting the device to his mouth before his eyes were back on you. You were too static, hunched into yourself. The only movement was the creeping of droplets from your hair down his jacket.
This was not what you were. Quiet and surrender were not things that went together with the girl he knew.
Had he done this?
“Hey, hyungs–” so lost in thought, he surprised himself when he spoke “–I found her.”
The response was instant.
“Thank fu-”
“Hey, you really got her?”
“Where are you guys?”
Quickly sending over the location, Jungkook eyed you again. You hadn’t reacted to anything going on around you.
“Hey, I think she needs to go back in the car,” he added quietly.
He pocketed his radio. Then instantly regretted it. Now he was at a loss for what to do with his hands, and he hesitated between staying standing or sitting beside you. Opting for the latter, he purposely tore his eyes from you to lessen the effect.
Stiffening as he lowered himself to your side, you glanced over at him. The floodlighting looked gold on his cheeks, his skin glowing with the sheen of rain coating his face. It only made you feel duller in comparison.
Unable to resist the insistent feeling of your eyes on him, Jungkook finally glanced back.
You sucked in a breath, shoulders raising. Your gaze was all too nervous, watching him warily. And though you were clearly soaked to the bone, he wasn’t sure all the water on your face was from the river and not your own eyes.
The strength of your remorse removed all words you could have used to express it.
I’m so sorry… You sounded pathetic even in your head. Was there anything you could say to Jungkook to make what you had done better?
The warmth of him beside you was already more than you deserved.
Jungkook’s hands were sandwiched between his knees, carefully leaving a space between the two of you. But the longer he looked, his limbs acted almost by themselves. He pinched his lip between his teeth, but didn’t falter. Pulling one hand free, he crossed the no-man’s land. Towards the blood he couldn’t bear to see there, where it cascaded into your eye, one drop outlining your jaw.
The back of his fingers drew closer. When they met your cheek, running steadily upwards to wipe the bleeding, you could have cried. Holding your breath, you gave in and closed your eyes. It shouldn’t feel so… intimate, but the drag of his hand was too visceral to ignore.
Light behind your eyelids made you snap them open again. And then squint.
Blaring headlights swung around, illuminating your momentary hiding spot.
Jungkook’s warmth retreated, leaving you with only the heat of your own blood spilling over your face.
Straightening up, you heard an engine cut out and doors slam. You were still struggling up from the floor when the guys reached you.
“Are you okay?” Hope was the first to ask.
Then Jimin’s hand was on your shoulder. Namjoon emerged behind them.
“Glad we found you,” he said.
Blinking uselessly at each of them gathering around you, your throat was totally uncooperative. You parted your lips, but gave up just as Jin completed your group. Looking you up and down, he tried to ease the tension with a chuckle.
“Wow, you look like you came from the river!” he joked, until his face fell a second later. “…wait- did you-?”
All you could do was stare, too distracted to answer him. What were they all doing here? After what you had done, they came after you?
You should have hated it. You were sorely ashamed, bowing your head under the weight of their concern. But somewhere deep down, you weren’t surprised. Back there in the river, you had dared to hope they would come for you, like they always did. Like you would for them.
But you felt incredibly small for having to count on them nonetheless.
Unconsciously, your feet took you a step back, closer to Jungkook. Shrinking away from the overwhelming tide of emotions you weren’t prepared to face yet.
“I think we all just want to get home,” Jimin smiled softly.
Namjoon nodded, the first to turn away, lessening the glare of the spotlight you felt on you in the centre.
“Yoongi’s going to take the other car,” he said.
Good – you had completely forgotten you had driven here at all. Everything was a blur between your consecutive fights with Jungkook and Monsoon.
Just as you were beginning to debate which one had stung more, a soft hand in yours tugged you from your mind again. Looking up, you found V quietly pulling you along towards a car. He didn’t meet your eyes. Your throat felt tight again at such a simple act guiding you when you needed it.
Blindly following your friend, you glanced back once more. Jungkook’s eyes were already on you, unreadable.
“See you back home.”
Then he dipped his head, slipping past you into the storm.
Tumblr media
Your tired body had clearly clocked out on the drive home, finally able to sink into yourself in the silence of the car. You had to admit you felt a bit bad for Jin, who loved to talk. Being stuck in a car with you while you were practically too ashamed to speak, and V who was always quiet, must have made it a long journey.
He got a few words out of you. Honestly, you felt obliged to answer his questions. You owed him – owed them all – some honesty.
If you had to say anything unprompted, though, you were sure all you would muster up was repeated apologies. You felt the heat of them frenetic beneath your skin. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.
When you arrived, pulling in just after the other cars, only Jungkook still to follow on his bike, you realised just how drained you were. Each step felt like a balancing act as you climbed the stairs, like your legs weren’t quite attached to you.
“So you remembered Monsoon’s base just from seeing the maps way back?” Jin carried on the conversation you hardly registered having, “no wonder Kuyang had you as his secretary. Too bad, we’ve got you now!”
Those words cracked through your distracted haze. As he left you with a pat on the back, you stared after him.
Had he not seen what had happened all day? A treacherous glimmer of hope sparked in you, as if they could still want you on the team. He must be pretending.
“Any dinner requests?” Yoongi asked from the table.
“Uh, um, I don’t mind,” you spoke quietly, “anything is good… thanks.”
Stopping in front of a chair, you never sat. The lot of them filled up the house like always, thankfully not all staring at you, but the appreciation you normally felt for the buzz of people only made you feel far away right now.
Eyes darting to your feet, you noticed the water clinging to your shoes, miniature pools left in your footsteps. Everyone was damp from the rain, but you were a different story. Your clothes clung uncomfortably, and you were suddenly aware of the constricting fabric now it pressed against your skin like this.
“I’ll just… go clean up,” you muttered, finally taking the chance to flee from the people you had wronged. The people who shouldn’t have cared enough to come pick you up from a death wish of an escapade in the middle of a storm.
Falling against the bathroom door at last, you put up with the soggy clothing for a moment longer, needing a pause. Head resting back against the wood, you breathed. Closed your eyes, felt your hands shaking.
Then you pushed away. A spurt of energy had you ridding yourself of your clothes in a hurry, tugging free of the fabric weighted down with cursed water.
Hurling them into the bathtub, you grabbed a towel next and sunk into it. The soft fabric felt like a dream, from somewhere warm where you hadn’t made such a terrible mistake.
When you pulled away, it was bloodstained.
Shoulders drooping, you continued to dry yourself without looking at it. Nor did you want to look at yourself in the mirror. Somehow, you would have to attempt a fix for the wounds you had just acquired, which pulled and stung as you twisted to dry your back. Gritting your teeth, you kept at it. You didn’t really know what you should do, and were mainly counting on your powers to heal them up fast, but you weren’t about to trouble any of the others for help. They had done enough.
You turned next to a stack of dry clothes.
It was as a sweater dropped over your eyes that someone knocked.
The sound wasn’t soft. Only hesitating for a moment, you gave in and found the person on the other side just as decisive as his knock.
Jungkook stood with his arms folded. Expectant.
Your poked your head out, looked at him warily.
He had enough of your waiting and tugged his arms free, pulling the door open and marching inside.
The breath caught in your chest as you backed up, bracing yourself. He would be right to chew you out right now. He had been right earlier too, you saw that now-
“We could have lost you!”
Your eyes were fixed on him. Couldn’t look away, couldn’t even blink.
You thought you had been prepared, but the fierceness of his tone took even you off-guard. Not to mention the words it was paired with. You hadn’t expected that. But as they sunk in, they brought your heart down with them.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” your voice was quiet, but perfectly clear in the confined space.
His eyes only hardened.
“Don’t talk like that.”
While his eyes pierced you, his tone was less abrasive. If you hadn’t known better, it would almost have sounded like begging.
It even succeeded in making you shut up for a short time. But you forced your jaw to cooperate, breathed in.
“But… but I-” sighing roughly, you dropped your gaze to the side. Glared at yourself in the mirror. “I fucked up. I ruined it, I let Monsoon get what he-”
An abrupt step forwards cut you off. Startled, you looked up to find Jungkook snatching the first aid box from the side and stalking towards you.
“Sit down,” he instructed.
Struck dumb for the second time, you did.
He followed. He knelt down right in front of you, and started unpacking stuff from the medical kit as if this was completely normal. Or perhaps to avoid having to face that it wasn’t.
“I would say you should’ve known he would do a number on you-” Jungkook began, to which you sighed.
“I’m lucky I even made it out alive, I know, I know-”
“Hardly,” Jungkook scoffed, turning back to you with a small cloth in hand, “if it was luck, yours would have run out by now.”
You blinked. And then tried hard to avoid blinking, because he leaned forward to press the wipe above your eye.
You swallowed against the sting. Swallowed harder when his other hand lightly steadied your temple on the opposite side.
“You really think I’m good luck, after today?”
A self-depreciating downward tilt dragged at your lips.
Jungkook, on the other hand, chuckled. It was brief, but it was there, a joyful quirk of his mouth.
“No.”
Your heart shouldn’t have sunk at his agreement.
His eyes flicked to yours, then away again as he focussed on his task. But he surprised you, and spoke again.
“I thought you were good luck before today.”
Though your mouth opened, you found all words had been robbed from you. Now, with your staring, he refused to catch your gaze again.
Resigned to not understanding him at all, you shut your mouth and sat in the silence for another minute. He changed cloths, chucking a now-red one away and moving on to swipe at the stickier blood that lingered on your cheek and jaw.
Somehow, in the peaceful bathroom, with his light touches on your skin, you could finally look over the recent whirlwind of events with clarity. Unfortunately, your embarrassment only burned brighter when you examined it through such a magnifying lens.
Looking hesitantly up at Jungkook as he worked, you cleared your throat.
“How did you find me?”
He spent a second longer, one more long swipe over your cheekbone, before sitting back.
“Because that’s what I would have done. If I wanted to make things right.”
“But I didn’t manage to.”
Jungkook just shrugged.
“That depends. What were you trying to prove?”
“I-I- nothing! I don’t know” – you fell forwards, elbows on knees – “I wanted to get the gun back... that’s what we lost. What you were mad about, before.”
Jungkook didn’t move away, even when you slumped closer. His face looked a little pinched.
“Sure,” he spoke, voice only loud enough to travel the short distance to you, and no further. “But it was also… I was afraid. Because I had started- no, I trusted you. I didn’t want you to throw it back in my face now that I care-”
The end of his sentence snapped into silence like bone china, but the silence after the break was deafening. Reeling from what was thrown. The echoes rang in your skull.
He removed his gaze, staring somewhere to the side.
When you finally recovered your voice your words were simple, quiet.
“I’m sorry.”
Another moment passed. You couldn’t even hear your own breathing. Only saw his chest rise as he inhaled.
Then he levelled you with a gaze. His eyes sharpened as you observed each other.
“What for?”
You swallowed, shoulders sagging, but forced yourself not to look away.
“I’ve broken it. Our trust.”
“You showed me how badly you didn’t want it to break,” he pointed out.
Slowly, your mouth opened, something leaping perilously in your chest. Denying it, you frowned.
“Does that make a difference? I still didn’t fix anything…”
Letting out a breath through his nose, Jungkook dropped his cloth into the first aid bag and folded his arms loosely.
“If you still need to prove it to me, you can tell me why, then. Why you fight.”
His head raised as he cocked his chin up. Face blank, save for the challenging glint of his eye.
Shocked, you straightened up without thinking. Drew your arms back to your sides. This may have been the first time he had given you the chance to explain yourself. The first time he had offered himself to listen.
It took you a moment to gather yourself. Or rather, to wait until you were sure he wasn’t joking. What you had to say was already there, waiting on your tongue.
“I was just a spare… I was in the way, and that was all he needed to dispose of me. And other people… aren’t so lucky. I was given another chance, somehow. I needed to do something with it. I wasn’t part of Bolt’s plot, but that shouldn’t mean I’m not allowed to have my own.”
“You’re right.”
You could only stare, a curious frown shifting your face imperceptibly when Jungkook responded so promptly.
“Other people aren’t so lucky,” he carried on, slower now. His eyes shone under the bathroom lights. “My dad–” his voice unexpectedly gave out on him. His eyes darted down, only for a second, tongue briefly wetting his lips “–my dad was a guard. We didn’t have much money, he didn’t have much choice. So he worked for the first guy who would pay him a steady salary. Then Bolt-”
Horror had well and truly sunk into your bones before Jungkook even had to stop for the second time, choking on the word. Your body felt far away again. All you could see was Jungkook’s face as he staunchly forced his lips into an even line.
“He left the boss alive,” something bitter edged Jungkook’s voice. “He’s in prison. Bolt got his trophy. He has the kind of power that means people will overlook the cost.
“I was thirteen.”
You were stunned. You could only stare at him, lips parted stupidly as what he just told you sunk in. All this time, he had looked at you the way he did because… because you were exactly what he and his dad never got. Not only did you survive Bolt, you then basically became him.
You weren’t Bolt, not by a long shot. Jungkook had made sure of that, all while trying to prove to himself that you were.
But even trying to imagine what he must have thought of you was making your head spin. It would have been easier on him to hate you.
You could hardly breathe, but words were tumbling from your mouth anyway.
“I’m so sorry. Fuck, Jungkook…”
Jungkook was looking at you again. His eyes glistened, yes, but on the surface he held it together, the depth of his sadness flowing beneath.
Bending your head under the weight of understanding, your eyes rested on your hands. Lifting them, you turned them over. The same lightning that ran through your palms had torn his life apart long before Bolt ever turned his sights to you.
You had lived. Why you?
“I’m sorry he never got the chance I did.” Your sentences landed far apart, sparing. What could you say? “It should have been him.”
“I’m glad you got them.”
Time slowed down as Jungkook’s words made impact. You nearly choked on them.
You stared back at him, not breathing. The gaze he returned was level, totally serious. Had you heard him right?
“You’re good, Y/N-”
He dipped his head at last, but didn’t break the eye contact for long. He eyed you as if waiting for you to laugh in his face. Like he couldn’t believe he was saying this, either.
“And you do the right thing. So when you screwed up… I know you never meant for that to happen. You know what went wrong, and you won’t do it again. I know that. So I shouldn’t have-”
Huffing, he looked roughly to one side, jamming a hand into his hair. Glowered into the counter as he kept speaking.
“But it hurt more because it was you. I want you to be with… us. The-the boys all love you a lot, okay? You’re one of us now.”
Jungkook was distracted from his determination to avoid looking at you by a sniffle. You had already pushed the back of your hand against your mouth.
Though you tried for a glare, the awe in it did weaken the effect. You shook your head.
“I hate you, Jeon Jungkook.”
The look that flashed over his face was almost comically hurt.
“I-I thought I was done,” you rambled, “all I want is to be part of this team, I thought I had blown it- and now you’ve made me cry!”
Swiping at the couple of escaped tears with one hand, you jabbed the other one accusingly towards Jungkook. But you only meant a fraction of the venom, and he knew it. His lips tightened the way they did when he tried to suppress a smile.
When he held his hands up as if in surrender, you lowered yours. A watery sigh escaped you.
“You say this now, after you made me think I had to prove it to you all over again-”
Deflating, his stance softened. Dropping his hands, one of them hovered before landing on the closed toilet lid an inch from your knee.
“I never meant that. About you needing to suffer… I know you already have.” He chewed his lip for a moment before something sparked behind his eyes. “But hey, you ran off and did exactly that! I thought your whole point was that you didn’t want to-!”
Rolling your eyes, you couldn’t help the grin breaking out. Shifting, your leg dislodged Jungkook’s hand. His fingertips stilled where they now found themselves grazing your leg.
“We’re both idiots,” you concluded.
“Hey, don’t tell the others!”
With a breathy laugh, you gratefully felt some weight dissolve from your shoulders. Even after the laughter wore off, you felt yourself smiling faintly at your lap and took the chance to blink back your tears.
One was knocked free, shooting down your cheek-
Only to be intercepted by a finger.
Jungkook froze, hand still on your face, and gulped. A second too late to look natural, he glanced down with a gesturing nod.
“That’ll hurt like a bitch in that cut.”
“Oh. Yeah. Thanks.”
The pad of his thumb dragged away the salty water while you tried very hard not to look too hard at anything. Or to close your eyes. Would that be worse?
Then he moved backwards again, reaching for something new. The wound on your cheek was a cleaner cut, easier to deal with. As he wiped it a few times with a fresh gauze, his hand finally placed itself steadily over your knee.
A new kind of silence settled as he pressed two strips over each gash.
“You, um…” he withdrew his hand, “you should rest. And eat. Yeah. Eat, and rest.”
You nodded.
“Yeah, I should.”
Looking over to the door, you dragged your lip between your teeth. In fairness, Jungkook had been your biggest concern. But you had still royally fucked up today. Twice. You had the rest of your group to make it up to.
Maybe braving it sooner would be easiest. As much as you didn’t have the energy for it, they could recharge you. You all gave back to each other in the end.
Sensing your reservation, Jungkook stood.
“Hey,” he called your attention back to him, “they were just worried.”
“I guess they’ll be a piece of cake now, after you,” you couldn’t help smiling, “you’re the most obstinate one, after all.”
As you finished speaking, you followed him to stand, shooting a smirk into his affronted face. It looked as though he couldn’t decide whether to be offended or amused – until all that was erased as you crossed closer to him on your way to the door.
Your expression, too, faded. Your steps fell too sluggishly, but his gravity slowed them without your meaning to. It left you locked in his eyes for too long.
With your breath trapped in your throat, you had no idea how you managed it. Your voice sounded without premeditation, low but clear with your sincerity.
“Thanks, Jungkook.”
And then you turned, leaving him trying to recover his own racing heart behind you.

There's already chattering and the smell of coffee lingering in the air by the time you're coming down the stairs. The kitchen is already occupied by Jungkook's parents and Jungkook himself as they greet you cheerfully.
"Ah, good morning!" Mrs. Jeon beams as soon as she sees you walking into the kitchen, causing Jungkook and his father to look up from their cups.
"Good morning." you smile, looking at Jungkook who gives you a wink before he hides a smirk behind the cup as he takes another sip, muttering 'morning'.
Just like he said, he was gone before you or anyone woke up. He sneaked downstairs before his parents, more like his mother, could notice. You slept so well that he didn't even wake you up while going back downstairs, but that had to be because of how tired you were. You feel sorry for sleeping so late, noticing everyone's already awake and ready for the day. Thank god you made yourself a human again before coming downstairs.
"Coffee or tea, sweetheart? I'm making us breakfast, not sure what you like but Jungkook told us you're probably okay with anything."
You smile at Mrs. Jeon's kindness, not surprised by her hospitality but it still makes your heart warm.
"Tea is perfect and yes, I'm okay with anything." you smile, sitting down next to Jungkook as he gives you a little nudge while wiggling his brows.
"Slept well?" he asks, the mischief underlying his tone which goes completely unnoticed by his father that looks up from the newspaper at you, nothing but curiosity evident on his face.
This little shit.
"Yes," you choke out, smiling nervously at Jungkook's father who just gives you a quirk of his lips before he sips from his morning coffee. "How did you sleep Jungkook? Was the couch nice?" you ask, pursing your lips at your best friend that looks dumbfounded for a second and even gives you a tiny glare.
Mr. Jeon chuckles underneath his breath but doesn't react further, probably thinking the two of you are just teasing each other like two siblings, reminding him of all the times Jungkook and Jungwon used to tease each other, even during breakfast.
"Very." he grits through his teeth, the amusement dancing in his eyes.
Before he can say something else, Mrs. Jeon is already hovering over the two of you and serving you scrambled eggs for breakfast. "See, Jungkookie. It wasn't so bad, was it?" she says, pushing Jungkook's buttons without even realizing it as you snicker underneath your breath, feeling the side glare he's giving you.
He grumbles something in return, agreeing with her before everyone's breakfast is served and ready to be eaten. To be honest, Mrs. Jeon has given you such a big serving that it makes your eyes widen at the amount on your plate. There's no way you'll be able to eat it all.
"I'll eat it after you if you won't be able to finish it." Jungkook mutters softly, noticing the look that you're giving the plate and also, he knows you're not a huge eater when it comes to mornings.
You prefer lunch and dinner. You don't like to stuff your stomach in the morning, you usually grab a fruit or something that's quick and not so heavy on the stomach.
The breakfast goes smoothly, few chatters here and there until the topic of today's plans is being mentioned and Jungkook jumps to say that the two of you are invited to Jungwon's house.
"Is Haru fine? He said she was having fevers." Mrs. Jeon says, clearly voicing out her worry when it comes to her first and only grandchild.
"He texted me this morning, she's fine. Her teeth must've been growing." Jungkook answers, before taking a bite.
"My poor baby," Mrs. Jeon pouts, sighing at the end. "I thought we could go out tonight? We talked with your father and thought we could take you both out for dinner and maybe show Y/N around."
She looks at the two of you but you just shrug, looking at Jungkook since you don't think this decision is totally and purely up to you. There's nothing specific you had planned for this trip to Busan, you're more accompanying Jungkook rather than a tourist.
"Yeah, sounds good. But I've got some plans for us after we visit Jungwon. Maybe when we get back?" he asks, hopefully glancing at his mother who assures him that it's fine and she understands.
You peer at Jungkook curiously, wondering what he's got planned for today besides the visit to his brother. He notices your stare, giving you a smirk before he mumbles; "You'll see."
Knowing it's no place or time to pry, you go along with it and eat your breakfast. And just like Jungkook predicted, you're not able to finish the breakfast but he luckily swipes your plate with his empty one as he happily munchies on your unfinished breakfast while you sip onto the herbal tea Mrs. Jeon has made you.
Tumblr media
"So, what is it that you've planned for us?" you ask Jungkook, leaning against the back of his car as he opens the truck.
You've just arrived in front of the apartment building where Jungwon lives with his family. It's not too far away from Jeon's house, closer to the center of the city in the middle of apartment complexes and even though the buildings look a little bit scrappy, the expensive cars parked on the side of the road tells you that it's probably a middle class neighborhood. Jungwon owns a coffee shop after all, from what you have collected by observing and listening to Jungkook, he doesn't live badly and has enough money to provide for his family. Still, Jeon's and Jungwon too, aren't rich but they're doing well financially.
"You'll see." Jungkook hums, pulling out a box that's wrapped in a pink wrapping paper with white straps on it before he closes the truck, giving you a satisfied grin when he sees the roll of your eyes.
"You can't just tell me, can you?" you grumble, watching him closing the door before he stuffs the car keys into the pocket of his jeans.
"Where's the fun in that?" he asks, scrunching his nose as he cackles at your annoyed expression.
You should've known he wouldn't tell you just like this. He likes annoying you and clearly your reactions are his source of amusement.
"You're annoying." you comment, walking towards the building with him by your side as he rings the bell once he finds Jungwon's name attached above to one of the buttons.
Grinning at you, he opens the door for you as soon as Jungwon buzzes you in, or you suppose it's Jungwon, before you make your way inside. When you make your way into the elevator, Jungkook presses the button to the tenth floor as you both stand in the silence.
"What's in the box?" you ask, glancing curiously at the medium size box, trying not to gawk at Jungkook's bulged out biceps even though he's doing a bare minimum with holding it.
Why did he think it's a good idea to wear a short– sleeved shirt, oversized at that? It's unbelievable how he managed to look fucking good while wearing a complete casual outfit. It's not fair.
You spent a good fifteen minutes trying to decide what to wear today. You settled on mom jeans, white tank top tucked in it and a purple cardigan that's thin and short (just right for this weather) that ends right above your high waisted jeans. This cardigan has to be one of your favorites, the material is soft and thin, and you tied the two thin strings. It still shows your tank top underneath and the silver necklace with the first letter of your name. It was Jungkook's birthday gift for you on your twentieth birthday. Your outfit is simple but nice. But Jungkook still looks ten times better and it's completely unfair.
Who does he think he is? Flashing his tattoos, earrings in both his ears and soft looking locks.
"A gift for Haru." Jungkook answers, cutting off your thoughts from your attractive best friend that's standing beside you completely unaware of your thoughts. Thank god he doesn't know, he wouldn't let you live if he knew what you were just thinking. It'd stroke his ego for sure.
He confirmed your assumptions about the gift, knowing it probably is for the youngest Jeon family member and you hum in response, before the elevator's door is opened. Jungkook guides you through the hallway, stopping in front of one of the doors as he gives a simple two knocks. Jungwon opens the door right after with a huge and welcoming smile on his face, ushering for you two to come in as you greet him. Just as you and Jungkook are taking off your shoes, little paddling feet and blabbering is heard causing you both to look up.
There is standing a toddler, barely standing on her legs and if it weren't for her mother clasping her tiny hand, it'd surely be the matter of time before she'd plop onto her butt. She eyes the two of you, her little brown eyes widening at the sight of Jungkook who quickly takes off his shoes and crouches down not to appear so big.
"Aw, look at you Ru!" Jungkook coos, your own lips stretching into a huge smile as Haru starts smiling and ushering towards him.
"Haru, wait!" Jungwon's wife laughs as she does the best not to let her go.
"Kookie!" The little toddler squeals, recognizing her uncle from all the video calls and pictures as her uncle is already outstretching his arms for her.
She doesn't hesitate, almost jumping into the comfort of her uncle's arms as he envelopes her in a hug.
"Hi Ruru, missed you so much!" Jungkook says, preparing her cheeks with kisses as she squeals and laughs.
Your heart warms up at the sight, not seeing him being this warm and soft towards a kid. There never was a chance, you know Jungkook likes kids but Taehyung usually had been the one who couldn't stop cooing at unknown babies on the street at every chance he got.
He picks her up, stroking the little black hair that is growing on her head. Jungkook's whole attention is on her, watching her while smiling down at her. Her eyes flicker towards her father that's standing beside you, before her eyes settle on yours as she watches you curiously.
"Oh, you got her attention." Jungwon calls out, laughing when Haru opens her mouth while a drool dribbles down her chin, landing on Jungkook's shirt.
He takes the bib with a cartoon butterfly on it that's tied around her neck, and wipes the drool with it. You stare surprisingly, never seeing a man doing such a simple but caring thing to a kid that's not his own.
"Hi, baby." you coo, standing closer as she stares at you with wide eyes. You take her little hand into your own and shake it as she looks at Jungkook, almost questionably.
Everyone in the room starts laughing, her little uncertainty slowly fading away as she sees everyone being comfortable and smiling before she gives you a tiny smile. She wraps her arms around Jungkook's neck and buries her face into his chest.
"You must be Jungkook's best friend, right?" Jungwon's wife and Haru's mother asks, stepping closer to you as she gives you a warm smile.
"Ah, yes. I'm Y/N," you smile, outstretching your arm towards her as she shakes it.
There's no wonder that Jungwon's wife is beautiful. She's slightly taller than you, and if you didn't know that she's just a year older than Jungwon, you would say she could be your age. Her skin is slightly tanned and her hair is without doubt dyed, but they look soft and beautiful just like she does. The strawberry champagne color contrasts with her skin nicely.
"I'm Sona, you can call me Sona," she assures you as soon as she introduces herself to you, noting that there is no need for honorifics. "Welcome to our home! Come on, let's sit down." she says, leading everyone to their home and the warmth of their living room.
Their home is nice and modern, the living room filled with toys scattered everywhere you look as a child's foam carpet is right in front of the huge grey leather couch. Just as you're walking, Jungkook doesn't notice and steps onto the block, grunting as he bites his lip harshly not to swear. The plastic toy digs into his feet painfully while Jungwon laughs, patting Jungkook's back before he says; "Welcome to my world."
Jungkook groans, looking at you, seeing you trying to hide your smirk as you quickly turn around and follow Sona.
"I'm sorry, I tried to clean up but it's hard with a kid around." Sona apologizes, a hint of joking in her voice as she stares lovingly at her daughter.
"Ah, it's okay." you tell her, knowing she probably feels bad about the mess around. But you totally get it, assuring her that's okay and she shouldn't worry about it.
Fifteen minutes talking and you're sure Sona is without a doubt a nice person, no wonder Junwon had chosen her as his wife and the mother of his kid. Surely, you know her for twenty minutes or so, and maybe she's just polite but she seems interested in you, asking you some basic questions which you answer with a smile on your face. Your stress has easen up and you find yourself being comfortable in their home and presence.
Jungkook brings the present from the corridor once Haru lets him go, too interested in the blocks that you're building with her on the floor. Everytime the few blocks fall, she claps happily not minding that hers and your effort has just failed. You giggle, noticing Jungkook grinning as he crouches beside you. Haru's eyes lighten at the mysterious box in her uncle's hands and she stands up, wobbling on her legs. You hold her hand, letting her go as she steadies herself against the box.
"Look what I brought you," Jungkook tells her, his tone sweet and tender. "Should we open it?" he teases, grinning at her as she starts to wiggle on her little legs that makes everyone laugh at her cuteness.
Jungkook helps her, by that you mean opening the present himself as Haru stands by and excitedly claps. Haru squeals at the baby toy that's inside the box, clapping her little hands before she squeals; "Baba!"
"Yes!" Jungkook beams, pulling out the baby toy out of it, holding it out for Haru as she takes it.
"Jungkook, you didn't have to." Sona says, eyebrows raised as she looks at Jungkook with gratitude before her little girl catches her attention.
"Don't mention it," he waves his hand, looking at Haru who clumsily makes her way over to you. "Just the best for my only and the cutest niece."
She surprises you by sitting on your lap with the baby in her hands, looking up at you as she grins happily. You stroke her thin hair, talking to her while you glance at Jungkook who's already pulling out his phone and snapping a few pictures of you and Haru.
So cute. Haru, of course.
And maybe Jungkook a little bit too, especially when he looks down at the photos he has just taken, scrunching his nose cutely as he shows Jungwon and Sona.
Tumblr media
"She likes you." Jungkook says as he puts the seatbelt on, you do the same thing while you smile at the mention of his little fourteen month old niece.
"She's so adorable," you tell him, already missing her but it was the right time to go.
It was time for Haru's nap and she wouldn't want to go with her mom, whining whenever they tried to pick her up. Deciding it's better the two of you leave, already having other plans anyway, it was heartbreaking hearing her soft cries as she saw you leaving.
"You're so good with kids, Jeon. I didn't know that." you tease, looking at him as he rolls his eyes and starts the engine while a cocky smirk makes its way on his lips.
"Of course, I am. I'm good with everyone." he jokes, causing you to snort.
"Yeah, right," you murmur, chuckling under your breath when you feel the glare he gives you.
He rides out of the parking lot, driving somewhere as soft music plays through the radio. You chit chat throughout the ride, mainly talking about Haru and even mentioning Sona about how she's nice. Jungkook tells you Jungwon and Sona used to date when they were teenagers and then broke up over something stupid, and then they met again and tried it one more time. It ended up with a marriage and a little baby along the way. It's funny and interesting how the world and fate works.
One thing you can't quite shake off is how good Jungkook looked while playing with Haru. You can't help it, he obviously knows his way around kids but there was something about him taking care of her. It was simple things, like handing her the bottle or feeding her with animal crackers. It's stupid but one thing is sure, Jeon Jungkook surprised you again. Maybe it's the lack of sex in your life once again, but it made him look even more attractive and you never thought that's possible. It's surely your hormones acting up, but you find your throat dry at the memories of him fucking you.
"Hey, are you listening to me?" Jungkook chuckles, glancing at you for a second before his eyes are back on the road.
Huh? He was saying something?
"Sorry, spaced out." you chuckle, gulping trying to shake those memories off.
"Yeah, I could see that," he jokes, checking the crossroad before he's allowed to continue, driving forward. "I was saying, we're around ten minutes away--"
It all happens quickly. Jungkook's eyes are on the road and yours are too, clearly seeing the car that doesn't stop on the sign on the left side, speeding up. Jungkook's words die halfway, his own eyes widening.
"Jungkook, watch out!" you yell, already thinking of the worst as you expect Jungkook's car to collide with the other one.
Jungkook's senses are increased, stomping on the brakes as the tires of his car screech his arm shoots in front of you, stopping your body from going any forward, even though you've got your seatbelt on that uncomfortably digs into your chest. The car stops, the other one stopping just a few meters away from you as you breathe heavily.
"Are you okay?" Jungkook asks, alarmed, turning to you as he checks your flushed face and heavily breathing body.
"Yeah," you answer, shaken up from what just happened.
Jungkook unbuckles the seatbelt, opening the car's door before you can utter a single word as he stands up from the car. "Are you fucking insane?!" he yells at the guy that stands up from his car bowing and apologizing to Jungkook who's fuming.
His face is red, his voice booming on the road. "Who gave you a driving license, idiot!"
"Jungkook," you call out to him, seeing him glancing towards you before he yells something explicit to the driver, sitting back into the car.
"Fuck," he curses, sighing as he tries to calm down himself. "Are you okay?" he asks, focusing his attention on you once again as he puts the seat belt back on.
"Yeah, I'm just glad nothing bad happened."
He starts the engine, throwing a nasty glare at the driver's car who's already in the car and driving away like nothing happened.
"He could've killed us, fucking idiot," he swears, tightening his hold onto the steering wheel as he still fumes. "I should've punched him in the face, asshole."
"Kook," you start, "It's fine. We're fine."
"No, it's not fine," he scoffs, "If I didn't step on the breaks, something could've happened to us."
"Yeah," you agree because you understand his anger. You'd be angry too if you still weren't a little bit shaken up. The sight of the car almost colliding with yours is still clear and horrifying.
"I'm sorry." Jungkook blurts out suddenly, your head snapping to his as he makes sure his eyes don't leave a road.
That's what he did the last time, it's not his fault that the other driver wasn't paying any attention and was ignorant. And the fact it happened in the bright daylight... it makes you even more angry.
"What? Why? It's not your fault, Kook." you remind him, already recognizing the tone of his voice as guilty.
"I should've drove slower." he murmurs, sighing as you shake your head not agreeing with him.
"Jungkook, you kept the speed just right, you weren't even driving that fast. That guy is a dick who doesn't know how to drive properly and safely. It could've happened to anyone."
He's silent for a moment, still processing what just happened and your words too, not reacting to them properly as he lets out a low sigh, turning right. "Just no word to my mom, okay? She would freak the fuck out."
You can't even imagine what Mrs. Jeon would do if she knew what just happened. She'd freak out like any other mother would, there's no denying in that.
"Of course," you nod, "We're safe, okay? Don't beat yourself over this. I know you drive safely."
It's true. You've never trusted anyone like you do trust Jungkook. He's a safe driver and you never doubt that. Clearly, none of this is his fault and you all can be glad, nothing more serious happened.
Tumblr media
"A tattoo? Are you serious?" you almost shriek as soon as the tattoo artist disappears into another room to grab something, your eyes wide and staring at your best friend that's laying on the black leather chair.
He grins, the anger he had felt long gone as mischief runs in his eyes that glisten underneath the lightning in the dark room. It looks exactly like you'd imagine a tattoo shop to look like. Dark, full of pictures of tattoos while the whole place smells of disinfection and leather. Surprisingly, you don't feel that uncomfortable here, even though your jaw fell as soon as Jungkook parked in front of the tattoo shop.
"What's a life without some adventure in it?" he teases, grinning at you with that cute bunny grin that makes you shake your head at his absurdity.
"You're crazy." you tell him, sitting on the stool that's next to the chair he's laying with an arm underneath his head, plopping himself comfortably as if he's not about to have a needle piercing through his skin soon.
"You could get one too," he suggests lightly, "I remember you mentioning something about wanting to have a tattoo."
"I was drunk back then," you deadpan, "You know I say shit when I'm drunk."
Jungkook chuckles at that, boring his fingers into his black hair as he brushes them through it. "That's not true. You get sleepy and all cute when you're drunk."
You almost blush at that, feeling the heat rushing to your cheeks for some reason. Probably embarrassed because he's got a point. Not the cute part though, you can't imagine anyone being cute while being drunk other than... Well, him. Even though he was annoying while being drunk the last time, there were times when you just thought 'cute' and just had to laugh at him.
"Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with needles and being in pain willingly." you cringe, scrunching your nose as Jungkook chuckles at your reaction.
"It's not that painful, depends where you get it."
"Okay, you tattooed God." you tease, causing him to laugh as he throws his head back before he looks at you with those glistening dark and big eyes.
"God?" he teases, earning another roll of your eyes.
"Anyway," you purse your lips, "What are you getting?"
He doesn't answer, simply pulling out his phone before he shows you a picture of a flower which you look at curiously. "Is that...?"
"Yeah, an aster. Just something to fill up the rest of the tattoos. Also, it's my mom's birth flower, I thought that's cool." he says, shrugging before you hand him back the phone and he tucks it into his jeans.
"It is," you hum, eyes falling down onto his tattooed arm as you find yourself staring at them. "I like them. I mean... all your tattoos." you admit, remembering that you showed your interest in his tattoos before but maybe you've never voiced it like this.
"You do? Thank you." he says, genuinely smiling at you but you're too focused on his tattoos.
You scoot closer, taking his hand which he allows unbothered as you start tracing the quote tattoo following the peace sign one. Some of them are random, something that necessarily describes him as a person but you can tell it's his taste and he probably wanted to get something cool.
"You like them that much, huh?" he says, voice deep and quiet as you glance up at him, surprised how close you're to his face.
Too close to notice every imperfection that brings you unwillingly back to all those times you got to stare at him from up close, under different circumstances. Circumstances that it was about seconds before you got to taste his lips and kiss him. It's awful how much those memories come back, clouding your mind as you find yourself gulping at the sudden temptation.
"Yeah," you breathe out, your voice almost embarrassingly uneasy while your heart beats somewhere in your throat.
Why is the air so hot all of a sudden?
"So, you wanted to get only that one today, right?" The guy that's tattooed from the neck (and guessing) to his toes comes back, interrupting the awkward atmosphere in the room that you're not sure if Jungkook detected because he doesn't seem to be affected one bit.
You let go of his arm as if it burns you, scooting with your stool slightly away as you focus on the tattoo artist instead.
"Yeah, right here." Jungkook says, showing him the empty place on his skin where he'd like to have the tattoo.
The tattoo artist nods, already preparing all the stuff while he chit-chats mainly with Jungkook, your presence almost forgotten as you're trying to calm down your beating heart that beats at an uncomfortable pace.
And when Jungkook lays lazily on the chair, outstretching his arm as the bicep bulges out naturally while veins pop underneath his soft and sunkissed skin, you're in a desperate need of fresh air. Air where Jungkook isn't close and doesn't awaken the temptation, suffocating you with it by his presence.
But you sit throughout the whole session with an uneasy smile, acting as if you weren't salivating over your extremely attractive best friend. The memories of him fucking you, probably chocking you or the mental visual of his cock certainly don't help.
Fucking hormones.
"Does it hurt?" you ask him through the buzzing sound as if he slightly scrunches his nose.
"No, not really. It's a bit uncomfortable but nothing I can't handle." he answers, cockingly smirking as you snort.
"Alright, you muscle pig."
"Thought I was a tattooed God?" he responds innocently, cocking his head to the side totally unaffected by the needle piercing his skin. However, you see the mischievous glint in those eyes and the tiniest smirk that spreads on his lips when you raise your brows knowingly at him.
You pray you'll get through this session because Jeon Jungkook is definitely not making it any easier for you.
Tumblr media
The same darkness surrounds Jungkook's old bedroom just like the night before, with the difference that there are droplets of rain meeting the window in a calm and uneven melody. Tucked in the blanket, you snuggle to the pillow that Jungkook laid on last night. You convince yourself that it's only a coincidence and you don't want to find out if the pillow smells like him. And it does smell like him, even though it's very faint but it's there.
Closing your eyes, you wonder if Jungkook already fell asleep since his mom stayed downstairs by the time everyone went to bed. She started packing some homemade kimchi for Jungkook and also for you, which you assured her that it's not necessarily but you appreciate it nevertheless. Of course, she insisted on packing some of it for you as well, saying that homemade kimchi is always the best. You specifically remember the teasing roll of eyes that Mr. Jeon gave her when she said, quoting "I don't mean to brag, but my kimchi is the best one".
However, he did assure her that she's completely right saying; "Of course, honey. You're absolutely right."
After being together and married for so many years, knowing they raised their kids who are adults now, it makes you wonder if you'll ever find that kind of love. It's never certain and shouldn't be taken for granted. There are so many marriages failing and ending with the divorce, it scares you to think that you'll get married one day believing that your significant other is the right one, just for the relationship and marriage ending up with divorce.
Breaking up with Haechan wasn't easy, maybe he hadn't been the love of your life but you still liked him. Maybe even loved him but you'll never know, not until you'll truly understand the meaning and the feeling of love. Still, even though you both agreed it's best to break up, it doesn't mean it was easy for you to let him go. Your relationship wasn't just about the dry sexlife in it, there were other things and most importantly, you felt that he wasn't the right one.
Seeing him in the grocery store that day made you speechless. Not just from seeing him after such a long time but to realize that he changed. He looked more mature than ever, probably started working out more. You remember him going to the gym more often, saying that he enjoys it. You wonder if he's still the same person that you were dating. Did he change other than just physically?
Although, you hadn't felt any hard feelings when you saw him, there is still a strike of curiosity inside of you.
Jungkook's parents are the living proof of a healthy relationship and marriage. They're not just kind to each other but to everyone else around them. They've known you from the first time you went to visit them with Jungkook and you know Jungkook often mentions you to them, especially when they call when the two of you hang out. But still, your heart grows with gratitude and warmth how welcomed they've made you feel.
When you went to the promised dinner today, they kept chatting with you as if they've known you for years. Not even once they made you feel uncomfortable or acted as if you were a stranger. After the dinner was all eaten and finished, they showed you around Jungkook's hometown and even took you to Busan's fish market. Mr. Jeon seemed to be extremely interested in explaining everything to you, throwing random but interesting facts as you talked to him while Jungkook talked with his mother, trailing behind you. Without doubt, Jungkook's father is a proud citizen of Busan which you find adorable.
Your memories of today are interrupted with the door opening, Jungkook's head poking as he scans the dark room.
"You sleepin'?" he whispers, slowly stepping in as he notices you turning around.
"No," you answer, even though he probably knows that by now. "I thought you wouldn't come." you chuckle, already making space for him as he joins you in the bed.
"Aw, you missed me?" he coos, causing you to snort before you kick him in the shin. He yelps, muttering a scolding; "Not nice."
"No, I thought that I'll finally get to have this bed all to myself." you point out as he's fluffing his pillow before he comfortably lays back down.
"Ha-ha," he responds dryly, "My mom wouldn't leave the kitchen, I spent the last hour pretending to be sleeping. I think she packed the whole fridge."
You snort, muffling your laugh with the blanket as Jungkook tries to shush you, chuckling as well. Your laughter slowly dies down, a content smile spreading on your lips from today's day. Apart from the little moments you had when you occupied your mind by appreciating how good–looking is your best friend. It had been truly frustrating and it proved that Jungkook wasn't about to make it any easier for you.
After he got the tattoo, he thought about taking you to the mall and also wanting to buy some presents for his parents since today is the last night you're staying here. You've to get going before lunch, since tomorrow is a Sunday and you both have to go back working on Monday.
You ended up in one of the shops looking at different clothes, mostly at jackets and coats since fall is around the corner. Somehow, you both stumbled across the underwear section which totally didn't go unnoticed by Jungkook and as soon as he saw some stockings on the display, he already tugged you towards it. Who knows what went through his mind, thinking it's a good idea as he started humming and looking at each one. By the time he pointed at one, the very similar one he ripped, your face was red as a tomato.
"This one looks like the one you had. Come on, pick one." he says, shrugging effortlessly as you stare at him.
"Are you insane?" you deadpan, completely thrown off by the sudden idea as he ignores you and starts rummaging through the packs of stockings.
"I promised you I'd buy you one. Come on, just pick one or a few. I owe you that much." he says, teasingly wiggling his brow at you as you stutter over your words.
He's insane, you thought at this exact moment knowing that the shop you are currently at isn't the cheapest one. You just went here out of curiosity, quickly changing your mind to buy something as soon as you've seen the prices.
Even one pair of stockings is too expensive, it just isn't worth it. And even though Jungkook promised to buy you a new one, you'll be happily satisfied with a cheaper one... or him treating you to lunch when you get back to Seoul.
And when you're about to tell him that, assuring him that maybe this isn't the right shop to buy those stockings at, the young saleswoman wearing high heels and a nice black blazer and blue jeans approaches you.
"Hello, can I help you?" she asks politely, flashing you with her nice teeth while red lipstick stains her lips.
"Oh, thank you. We're just looking actually." you quickly say, trying to save the day as you give her a nervous smile meanwhile Jungkook's brows furrow in disapproval, knowing very well what you're trying to do.
"No, we actually want to buy one of these. Come on, Y/N. Just pick one." he says, looking straight at you as he has the audacity to raise a brow at you.
You want to groan, curse him for not listening to you but you can't. The last thing you want is to cause a scene in this shop, and in front of the saleswoman that patiently stands by and waits.
"Jungkook," you groan, his name finding its way on your tongue as you say it through clenched teeth but he completely ignores you again, turning to the saleswoman.
"We'll take this one. What's your size?" he asks you, briefly glancing at you as he waits for your response.
Your cheeks flush red, your eyes glaring at him as you shake your head. "Don't worry about it, I--"
Again, he ignores you and flashes one of those handsome smiles at the saleswoman. "What do you think her size is?" he asks her, embarrassing you even more as she gives you a knowing smile before she hands Jungkook one of the stockings packs, surprisingly picking out the right size as he thanks her.
He flushes you his bunny smile, throwing his arm around your shoulders as you grumble in response. "I always get my way, you know that."
"I wanted to save you the money. This shop is too expensive." you inform him as he guides you towards the cash register.
"Don't mind the money, I told you I'd buy you a new one. You know... since I ripped your old one." he whispers teasingly the last part into your ear and you jab him with your elbow, but he doesn't budge and laughs instead.
At the memory that hasn't happened that long ago, you let out a soft chuckle as you hear Jungkook rustle behind you. You've turned to him with your back, ready to sleep however your mind doesn't seem to rest.
"What?" Jungkook lets out a low chuckle, turning to you as you turn to lay on your back, staring at the ceiling.
"I can't believe you bought me stockings. It was just so random." you answer, giggling.
"To be honest, I wanted to order you some. I didn't forget," he chuckles, "I just wasn't sure if I'd fit into your taste... when I saw the underwear section, I figured it'd be the best to buy it with you around."
"Oh my god," you laugh, slapping a hand over your mind not to wake his parents. "So much noise about some stockings."
"Hey, you scolded me for ripping them in the first place. And I'm a man of my word."
"Okay, okay you gentleman." you tease, turning to look at him and however his face isn't totally visible, you can make out his soft features and his cheeks stretch in a grin.
The paper bag from the shop with your new stockings in it rests in the corner of the room, reminding you that Jungkook really is a man of his word.
"You still have our pink friend at mine." he reminds you suddenly, your brows pinching together in confusion before realization hits you all of a sudden and your whole body heats with embarrassment.
"Oh my god," you exclaim, "Why would you even mention that?" you scold him, nudging him in his chest as he snorts at you.
"I ordered and bought it for you. What should I do with it? I'm not gonna stick it in my ass."
"Oh my god," you repeat your previous words, laughing as Jungkook shushes you, doing an awful job at being quiet too because he's laughing too. "What do you know? Maybe it'd feel nice." you joke, listening to him disapproving but he muffles his laugh and mouth with his arm as he hides his face.
As much as it's funny, it's another reminder that the deal between you two has already ended and the mention of your pink friend (as he called it) was the final drop. And you almost tell him that you don't want it, because you won't probably use it if it's not with him. And you almost gasp at that thought, mentally slapping yourself.
He's your best friend Y/N, you remind yourself.
And you finally understand the crave you had for him today. It's not only because you miss sex (because Jungkook is fantastic at it), or because you just crave a touch of someone else.
It's because Jungkook wasn't the only one who was craving love and having that someone who cares for you. You were doing the same all along.

Lou was exhausted.
She didn't know if she was built for this. As she stood in the corner of the practice room sipping some water she was feeling a headache coming on, eyes wincing shut as a vision appeared in her head.
"If you don't stay away from our oppas, we'll post that photo online," a girl with a pointed nose said in Lou's face as she shoved her against the wall.
"I'm in the same group, I can't just leave, and, what photo...?"
"Oh you know, caught it clear as day, the one where you-"
"Flo you good?"
The girl looked up to see Changbin sat with her, wait, when did she sit down?
"Yeah, just got a bit of a headache, think I need to drink more water or something..." Lou trailed off.
"Ah, you need to look after yourself more, you sure that's all?" Changbin tilted his head at such an angle to keep eye contact with Lou who was looking down at her lap, confused.
"I think so," Lou nodded, after all, it was hard to make sense of her thoughts when something had entered her brain and interrupted them.
"Okay, you've just been a bit more quiet than normal. Is it those girls again?" Changbin said in a protective tone.
"No, no it's all good, don't worry Binnie," Lou smiled lightly to reassure him.
"Let's go then," Changbin stood up, still cautious that Lou wasn't revealing something to him.
Lou stood up with him, thankful that practice is over and that he didn't keep asking questions. Don't get her wrong, she loved Changbin, in this reality and as a fan too, but she couldn't keep up with trying to always think of answers when she didn't know what her past was here. At least she knew one thing and that Changbin was someone she could talk when she needed, they were just like what she saw on YouTube. The amount of videos she'd watch, all the two kids rooms, the vlogs, she loved it. She guessed that was something she'd have to prepare for too when the time comes.
"We're going to work on some songs now, wanna come with us or you going to your studio?" Chan turned to Lou as they joined the rest of the group.
"I think I'll work on my own, got some ideas I want to use," Lou nodded happily. She had her own studio?!? This was her dream. She loved making beats and her own songs from her current reality, so she was happy that aspect carried over to this one too.
"Well, let's hope you can whip up another 'My Pace'," Felix proudly said to Lou, hauling his bag over his shoulder.
Holy shit she made My Pace?
She wondered what else she had helped to produce for the group.
This day just keeps getting better and better.
"I'll try my best," Lou bashfully said, scratching the back of her neck as she smiled back at him.
"Wow, I get what Stays mean now, you two really do look alike when you smile," Jeongin pointed out.
"Oh wow they do, wait, turn this way guys," Hyunjin commented holding his phone up.
However, with the way Felix and Lou both turned to him in sync, it gave more of a creepy effect than a cute one. Their eyes widened and grins lasting for an uncomfortable amount of time.
"No not like that!" Seungmin burst out laughing at the image whilst Hyunjin dramatically widened his eyes and pretended to faint in horror.
"It's so scary!" he whined from the floor.
"Whyyy?" Lou walked over to Hyunjin and grabbed his phone, before seeing the image and bursting out laughing too, her whole body crumpling from her giggles.
"What is it?" Lee Know raised an eyebrow at his members in fits of laughter.
Lou held up the phone like a white flag in surrender, and when the other members finally saw the photo they understood too. If this ever got out to Stays, they'd have a field day.
"We need to change their name from sunshine twins to devil twins," Han chuckled at the photo.
Their manager suddenly returns from a coffee break to see the group still in the practice room.
"Why are you kids still here? You have free time now," the manager, Sejun, raised an eyebrow.
But that didn't stop their laughter as Changbin and Seungmin recreated the faces of Felix and Lou in the photo.
"I'm out," Sejun left.
•••
Finally in her own space, Lou took in what her studio looked like. It was perfect, soft tones of green dotted around the room, the comfiest wheelie chair that she could spin in, and recording equipment to die for.
The other thing on her mind was that she needs to find some sort of journal. There must be something here or at least at the dorms that she wrote her thoughts down in. If she liked producing at home and here, then surely she'd have a diary like she did at home too?
Opening a draw at her desk she found a book, but written on the front was lyrics. Well, it wasn't a diary but she could worry about that later. Now it was time to be in her element.
As if.
As if it was her same notebook from home. This is perfect. She really has things working out for her here.
Turning the page to the one she knew had a song needed finishing, she found the start of some lyrics to 'She Plays Bass'. She couldn't wait to finish it and share it, she guesses it would be uploaded as a SKZ Player.
Flicking the book to the next page she grips her pen ready to write more words down, yet there were some already there.
I hate hearing the knocking, the warning that they're waiting
What does it mean?
Knock, knock
Oh shit.

“Hello, I’m Y/N from Maestros. Can you show me where the elevator is?”
You look up at a tall hybrid, smiling sweetly as you push your left ear out of your face. Your nose twitched ever so slightly, taking in all of the new smells.
“O-Oh, yes, one second, please follow me.” The man nodded and turned, his tail swaying behind him. Given the black-tipped ears and spotted tail, you’d wagered he was a snow leopard.
You glanced around the halls as he guided you, admiring some of the art on the walls and how clean everything was.
“Um, is it supposed to be for Team H?” The man glanced at you after a minute or two of comfortable silence. You smile and nod.
“It is! Do you know where I need to go?”
“I’m the leader, Seungcheol. I can guide you straight to the room.”
You blink before gripping the dessert cart a bit nervously.
Shit, if you knew this was supposed to be one of the leaders, you would’ve laid on the charm a bit thicker. You just hope he wasn’t the stuck up suit type-
“Thank you very much for making the trip. Mingyu recommended your shop very highly. I just hope it’s not too much of a bother that we got so much-”
“Not at all!” You send him a smile and feel your shoulders relax as he pushed the door open.
“There you are, Hyung-oh THE FOOD IS HERE!”
The familiar face of Mingyu came into view. He was a regular at Maestros, and the moment he looked at you, his smile grew wider.
“Oh hey, Y/n!”
“Hello, Gyu. So this is where you work? Pretty snazzy.” You begin situating the desserts on the table, picking a spot that was far enough away from the paperwork, but not so far that the four men couldn’t reach it.
“This is my team, Wonwoo-hyung, Vernon-ah, and Seungcheol-hyung.” Mingyu pointed to each man and you wave politely, a hand on your hip.
“So this is where ya work, hm? It’s very nice of you to put in a good word for us.” You smile and look at the boys in the room, nose twitching as you send them a brilliant smile.
“Stop by anytime and I’ll be happy to give you your first drink on the house!” You beam. Mingyu’s eyes light up.
“Oh good-”
“Not you, it wouldn’t be your ‘first’, now would it?”
The other three men in the room snorted as Mingyu’s shepard ears flattened, a pout shining on his face. You smile, at ease now that you had gagued all of the men in the room and deemed them as ‘pretty cool, actually’. You give the table one last once over before smiling, satisfied with the arrangement and the pleasing aesthetics of it all.
“Alrighty, you all have a wonderful meeting. Thank you for choosing Maestros!”
You excuse yourself, pleased with another successful delivery, missing the way Seungcheol’s eyes follow you out.
A beat of silence stretched in the room before Mingyu and Vernon gravitated toward the food closest to them, eyes sparked with joy. As they did so, Wonwoo looked at Seungcheol.
He had his eyes on the door, tapping his index finger to his lip, tail swaying behind him. Wonwoo smiled softly, nudging him and startling him out of his thoughts.
“Wha- hm?”
“...You’re blushing.”
“I-what?”
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ 3 Months Later ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
“Back again? I was hoping I’d see you!”
The man at the counter looked at you, startled as you come out of the back room, balancing a tray on your palm. You smile from ear to ear, your scent light and sweet as you spin around Soonyoung’s frame, setting the tray of freshly baked goods on the table.
A spotted tail swayed to and fro, and rounded, black-tipped ears twitch.
Across from you, is Seungcheol. His cheeks are a beautiful shade of pink as he looked away for a moment.
“Am I here that often?” He rubbed his neck and you smile at him.
“Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. It makes my day.” You beam at him, your smile widening as his lips parted in shock at your boldness. A feline chirp left his lips and he tried to hide his face underneath the cup's rim.
“Y/N! Stop flirting and help me fill the case!” Joshua’s voice called from the other side of the dessert case. You perk, one of your ears lopped over and covering part of your face before you push it back, sending the snow leopard a smile before hurrying along.
“Coming~”
After the catering at his company, Seungcheol had been coming to Maestros for the past three months, once in the morning and again after his shift. You had his order memorized by now.
In the morning, he would order a bold blended coffee with a freshly baked coffee cake and fresh citron tea with a lemon poppyseed coffee cake in the evening.
He always took it with a small smile and a gentle ‘thank you, Y/n’. Seuncheol was always a welcome presence in Maestros. He made you and the other baristas laugh and he’d even been the quiet, unbiased mediator to some issues with the others and yourself, always willing to lend an ear as he sipped his drink.
He was handsome, had an infectious, yet shy smile, and he smelled really good.
Joshua must have noticed your mind wandering, so he nudged you in the ribs as you came closer, ignoring the indignified squeak that spilled from your lips.
He rolled his eyes playfully.
“Go on and take one for your man.” He waited for you to shyly pick up one of the coffee cakes, hustling over to Seungcheol soon after.
When you do, he perks in his chair, smiling at you.
“Sorry, I would have come over after he closed the case…”
“It’s okay. I made them this time and I wanted you to have the freshest one.”
Seungcheol blushed, taking the cake from your hands. You feel his fingers brush against yours as he took a deep whiff, his shoulders relaxing at the warm vanilla and lemon scent.
He didn’t have the backbone to tell you he liked this coffee cake a lot because it smelled like you.
Not..yet, anyway.
“There’s my girl! Y/n!” You blink, hearing another regular call out to you. You sigh slightly, a bit disappointed you didn’t get to speak to Seungcheol for longer. You brush your hand over his arm, smiling at him.
“Have a good day, big cat.” You saunter off, talking to the middle-aged patron. Seungcheol followed you with his eyes, pursing his lips in displeasure as he saw the other hybrid flirting with you.
“Shit,” he swore under his breath, looking across the cafe.
“Here’s your coffee.” A voice drew his attention to the left and Joshua looked down a the snow leopard, sliding over his coffee. Seungcheol lifted the cup after uttering a ‘thank you’, but found it was actually hot cocoa, not coffee.
His brow furrowed in confusion and he looked down at the cup, blinking. There were words written on the protective sleeve.
‘Just ask her on a date, due’
By the time he looked up, Joshua was gone, pretending and playing the part of a disgruntled manager.
“Y/n, can you come here?”
You break off from the man flirting with you, talking to Joshua before a laugh rumbles from your chest. Seungcheol felt his heart flip.
‘She has such a pretty laugh….’ His thoughts trailed off.
He took another glance down at the hot cocoa in front of him, eyes scanning over the letters on the sleeve before he sent you another longing look.
Maybe changing up the usual routine wouldn’t be…so bad, right?
You glance over your shoulder, nose twitching as you look at the businessman.
You couldn’t help but to wonder, what was on the big cat’s mind as his tail swayed to and fro?
-xox-
“Oh, real quick, I just want to stop in for a drink.”
“We’re already running late-”
“It’ll be quick!”
You lift your head as the sound of a bell ringing draws your attention. You push one of your lopped ears out of the way of your face and wipe your hands on your apron, smiling from ear to ear. A row of freshly baked pastries sits in front of you, the scent drifting up into your nose.
“Hello! Welcome to Maestros!”
Before you are the familiar faces of Vernon, Mingyu, Wonwoo, and Seungcheol. The moment he walked in, your assistant manager Seokmin moved to grab a large cup, scooping ice into it as he spoke;
“You weren’t here last night after work, I was wondering if you’d found a rival cafe, Mingyu.”
“Do you think I’d go anywhere else, Hyung? You wound me!” Mingyu sauntered in like it was his second home. You laugh as the others exchange a look before playfully rolling their eyes.
Seungcheol looked your way, his tail twitching before he smiled and waved.
You make your way over, smiling at the two with a serving tray tucked underneath your arm.
“You boys always have impeccable timing. You always come right when we finish a batch of sweets. If the stuffy office job doesn’t pan out, you’re welcome to come work for us.” You wink at them, laughing when Vernon seemed to seriously consider it with a tap to his chin.
Wonwoo nudged him.
“If you quit before we finish this project, I’ll kill you.” He muttered.
As they laugh, your eyes land back on Seungcheol, moving one of your ears out of your face.
“The usual?” You inquire.
“A-actally, I want to try something a bit different today…if it’s not too much of a bother? Can I trouble you to suggest something new?” He seemed unsure, rubbing his hands on his pants.
“Nonsense. Everyone who comes into Maestros has their own symphonies. It’s my pleasure to fine-tune the harmonies for you.” You send them a dazzling smile and move behind the counter, twirling past Jeonghan as he comes up from the kitchen while balancing a platter on his hand.
“Comin’ through~” He chimed, expertly moving past you. Joshua lifted his head, squinting ever so slightly.
“Alright, black coffee and what?” He cocked a brow, holding a coffee pot in one hand. You smile and gently shoo him.
“Cheollie wants to try something different. I’m gonna make him something special.”
Joshua’s eyebrow arched up before he shrugged a shoulder.
“Do you, Bun.” He stepped aside, giving you free reign of the back. As you got to work on the coffee, Seungcheol wrung his hands a bit, fidgeting.
Mingyu glanced at him before sending him a dazzling smile, leaning into his ear to whisper.
“You got this.” He encouraged the older man, perking when Jeonghan swooped by, handing him a chai latte in one fluid motion before he continued walking by.
Seungcheol let out a shuddering breath before looking up as you came back to the table, setting a beautifully decorated drink before him.
“Here you go, big cat~ This is called Ca Phe Muoi, it’s been a while since I’ve made it, let me know if you like it.” You smile at him, placing a small plate with a warmed cinnamon and strawberry crumble coffee cake before him.
The others perked, sniffing and leaning close to Seungcheol as he took the first sip of the drink you’d set in front of him. In an instant, you watch his face light up, his tail jolting up in excitement before swaying behind him rhythmically. You smile wide as you watch him take the dessert fork to the cake, bringing it to his lips and letting out a pleased purr.
“It’s…delicious.” He sighed out. You smiled wider, laughing as the table erupted in a chorus of ‘I want what he’s having!’ from the others.
“Okay, okay. Just give me a moment and I’ll get right on that for you all” You giggle, turning away from the table. You do catch the motion of Wonwoo nudging Seungcheol.
“U-Um, Y/n?”
You stop, nose twitching a bit as you turn back around.
“Yes, Seungcheol? What’s up?”
Now that your attention was on him, you could see his face had turned a brilliant peach color. He cleared his throat and looked away, cheeks red.
“I…uh…wanted to know if you…um.” He trailed off, rubbing his neck. You cock your head, glancing at his friends at the table.
All of them had conveniently found something else to look at the moment you do, not offering any semblance of assistance in this moment.
Your eyes drift back to Seungcheol and he awkwardly held out a piece of paper. You blink, once, twice, before reaching out for the paper, unfolding it.
‘If I’m handing this to you, it means I got a bit tongue-tied trying to tell you this myself. I’ve been coming to Maestros for quite some time now, and I’d be lying if I said seeing you wasn’t the primary reason. You have such a captive personality and I would love to get to know you better, if you were comfortable with that.
I guess the heart and soul of what I’m asking is;
Will you go out with me?’
You read the lines over and over again before you look up, finding the snow leopard hiding his face in one hand, all but shoveling the coffee cake in his mouth, avoiding your eyes. You can’t help the small laugh that makes its way to the surface, gracefully making your way closer to him.
You pluck a pen from your apron, clicking it and scribbling on the paper. You slide it back to him, smiling as you stand back up to your full height.
“I’ll go get those drinks started, fellas. See you in a bit.” You wink at Seungcheol and make your way out of the seating area.
The moment you’re out of earshot, the table erupts into a chorus of ‘read it, read it, READ IT-’. Seuncgheol looked down at the note, finding your response written in the negative space below his message.
‘I’m flattered. My answer is yes. I get off at 6, how about we start with an evening stroll?’
In an instant, his shoulders relaxed, and the cheers of his coworkers and friends drew attention from everyone in the cafe.
You glance up from the drinks you’re making, meeting Seungcheol’s eyes and giving him a small wink before laughing yourself as he immediately turns redder and hides his face.

(soulmates AU continued from Part 1)
Eddie has a blotchy, uneven blob on his wrist.
His jacket sleeve had been covering it up every time Steve had seen him in that long, terrible week, so when they’re finally let into his hospital room, Steve can’t help the way his face twists in surprise. He’s never heard of anyone with that kind of soulmark before.
Luckily, Eddie doesn’t seem to notice Steve gawking. He’s cuffed to the bed and he looks so breakable in his thin hospital gown, blinking blearily at them before his gaze slides away again.
“Hi, Eddie,” says Nancy.
Eddie’s mouth twitches up into what could be a smile before he winces. Half of his face is wrapped in big white bandages.
It’s strange to see everything around him in whites and greys and pale blues. He looks more out of place here than he had in the Upside Down.
“Hey,” he rasps. “Y’here for Red?”
“Yes, we are,” Nancy says, crossing to his side. “And we’re here for you too. How are you feeling?”
“Like…what’s his name. Prometheus.”
Nancy laughs, and Steve folds his arms defensively. He hates when people talk about all that fantasy shit like it’s a normal thing to know.
“The hell does that mean?” he snaps, before he remembers he should probably be a little nicer to Eddie. Nancy’s already glaring at him.
“Greek guy,” says Eddie. He doesn’t sound mad or anything. “Dared to steal fire from the gods. Got his liver eaten every day.”
“Wait, every day? How does that even work?”
Eddie grins with half his mouth. “That’s the bitch of it, Harrington. He regrows it every time, just to get it eaten again. Poor fucker never gets to die, just—just keeps hurting.”
“Well, we’re very glad you didn’t die either,” says Nancy, patting his cuffed arm. It’s the one with the weird blobby mark, but she doesn’t seem like she even notices. “It’s so ridiculous that they’ve got you in handcuffs like this. I’ll talk to someone, maybe—”
Eddie waves his free arm languidly. “Ah, don’t worry about it, Wheeler. Prometheus, right? He always…always grows it back again.” He’s starting to slur his words a little, drifting.
“Hey, man,” says Steve. “We’ll let you get some rest, okay? But we’ll—we’ll be back.”
“Ten-four, good buddy,” says Eddie, and closes his eyes.
———
Steve wants to bring up Eddie’s weird mark with Nancy, but he doesn’t know how to not make it seem like he’s trying to get her back.
So the next time he gets a chance, he asks Dustin as casually as he can: “Hey, you ever see Eddie’s soulmark?”
“Hah!” says Dustin. “No way. He covered it up years ago, before we ever even met him.”
“Wait, covered it up? Like…”
“Like, he decided to reject the uncaring hand of fate in a super permanent way.” Dustin pauses, squinting at Steve’s confused face. “He got a cover-up tattoo. Obviously.”
“Oh, sure, obviously. Totally normal thing to do,” says Steve, rolling his eyes. “Jesus, I’ve never even heard of that before.”
Later, the unwelcome thought that’s been prowling around the edges of his mind finally takes shape: what if Nancy wants to get a cover-up?
She wouldn’t, would she?
He doesn’t want to remember the way she always preferred long sleeves, even when they were dating; how she’d slide her fingers tight over her wrist compulsively, clutching, sometimes for no reason at all that he could see.
———
Soulmarks aren’t even that common, so he’s always seen his mark as kind of like a prize. It had felt like winning the lottery, when he’d watched the tidy script appear on his skin a few weeks after his thirteenth birthday.
He’d been a little surprised when he met Nancy Wheeler for the first time, a whole year and a half later; he’d never thought he’d go for someone like her. But then she turned out to be smart and passionate and surprisingly pretty after all, and the knowledge of a future together had sounded better and better all the time.
And now…Robin said, once, that maybe there was another Nancy Wheeler out there just waiting to meet him. The thought fills him with syrupy dread. He’s pretty sure Robin was trying to be nice and comforting, he just really hates the idea that he’s been getting it wrong all this time; that he tried so hard and felt all those things for nothing. But it’s Nancy’s handwriting for sure, just like it’s his on her wrist, and it seems pretty impossible that there’s also another Steve Harrington out there for her too.
So it has to work out, it all has to fit together in the end. It’s going to. He holds onto that for a very long time.
———
Steve doesn’t really get another chance to look at Eddie’s shitty cover-up for a while. At first, he thinks visiting Max and Eddie can be something he and Nancy could maybe do together, but she’s pretty busy handling the legal side of things. From what Jonathan says, it sounds like she’s actually managing to get a pretty good deal for both of them, like maybe there’ll be a duplex in a not-too-bad part of town with the Mayfield-Munson name on it. She’s good at that kind of thing, according to Jonathan. Steve wouldn’t really know.
It’s really obvious that Jonathan doesn’t know how to be around Steve. Like, how do you hang out with the guy who’s got your soulmate’s name etched on his skin by destiny? But somehow they make it work.
In fact, Steve’s started to take some strange kind of comfort from it. Jonathan’s probably the only other guy who knows what it’s like, this off-kilter funhouse vertigo of Nancy’s choice. It connects the two of them even more than it connects either of them with Nancy, probably.
Steve doesn’t blame Jonathan anymore, is the point. If—when Nancy comes back to him, they’ll both be better off because Jonathan’s been in their lives. He gets that now.
Anyway, Nancy’s busy with paperwork or yelling at men in suits or whatever it is she’s actually doing, but Steve still wants to see Max and Eddie. Mostly Max, to be honest, but it’s not like he doesn’t want to see Eddie too. He barely knows the guy, but he thinks it’s pretty normal that he feels some kind of connection or bond or whatever. It’s normal, after going through some shit with another guy his own age, to want to get to know him a little more.
Of course, Eddie ‘the Freak’ Munson isn’t exactly normal, so Steve tries not to feel hurt when he opens the door and Eddie’s whole body flinches back, arms coming up protectively, eyes big and scared.
“Sorry,” says Steve, suddenly feeling like he should’ve knocked. “Didn’t mean to startle you, dude.”
Eddie bows from the waist, which looks fucking ridiculous when he’s sitting up on the bed hooked up to a bunch of monitors and stuff. He looks way better than the last time they’d been in the same room.
“Not at all, good sir,” he drawls. “Welcome to my humble abode. Sorry I can’t offer you any refreshments; we’re shockingly low on pudding cups.”
“Right,” says Steve. He’d forgotten the way Eddie talks and how it makes him feel two steps behind sometimes. Like Dustin, kind of, but not as annoying for some reason. Maybe Eddie’s a little nicer about it, he guesses, though nice isn’t exactly a word he’s ever associated with Eddie Munson before.
Without really meaning to, he glances at Eddie’s wrist. It’s tucked casually away against his stomach, half-hidden by the hospital sheets.
“Yeah, uh,” says Eddie. “Henderson…said you asked about. You know.”
Steve feels betrayed, even though he knows he shouldn’t. He hadn’t told Dustin not to say anything, because it wasn’t—it wasn’t fucking relevant to anything, so why would Dustin even mention it? Goddamn asshole kid.
Eddie holds out his arm, wrist up, fingers loosely curled.
“Doesn’t bite,” he says, so Steve takes the invitation and comes closer. He almost reaches out to grab Eddie’s hand, but that would be a weird thing to do, so he doesn’t.
After a moment, Steve says, “I just don’t get why you’d do that.”
Eddie cocks his head. “No? You don’t get why someone might not want to do exactly as they’re told, Ozzy?”
Steve doesn’t know what he expected. Just the typical Munson rebel bullshit after all. But he’s here, and Max is sleeping, so he might as well throw himself into the shiny plastic chair and say, “Whatever, man. How’re you doing?”
As Eddie launches into a convoluted story about some nurse feud he’s been eavesdropping on, Steve makes sure not to let his gaze drift to the obscene blob blotting out the fine tendons and blue veins on his wrist; doesn’t wonder at all about what else that ink might be covering up, and definitely doesn’t wonder why Eddie would want to throw away his one and only universe-approved shot at true love.
What would be the point?

Synopsis: There's no place for women in the world of racing. Let alone rally. Until you show up - the daughter of a racing legend who lost everything out of nowhere - ready to stir the pot of competition and throw fuel to Naozumi's fire, burning wild in more than just one way. Just how far will you go to take your rightful place in the world of rally, restore the team to its glory and change things for the better?
Genre: racing AU, enemies to lovers, rivalry, suspense, a whole lot of teasing, gender power games, dating in secret
Word count: 4.5k+
A/N: Here it finally is. I can't believe I got to write about one of my passions in this way. Though I love rally, getting the technicalities right was rough but I researched as much as I could on it so it feels like the real thing, though there might be some minor inaccuracies, not really affecting the story.
This one has been in the works for a good period of time and though this first chapter is short and fast-paced, there's so much more coming. Trust the process cause god knows I do. I hope I can make Naozumi justice and I can't wait for you to read the next ones. Enjoy lovelies.
Now Playing: Edge of Seventeen - Wuki
Next Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5
Tumblr media
It's not about how fast you go.
It's about how long you go fast.
Fast like-
A knock reverberated against your helmet, interrupting the pre-race mantra before you even finished reciting it, bringing you back to the chaos prior to the race start.
Chaos you wanted to avoid at all costs.
Blinking your eyes open, you took in the smell of burnt rubber and the atmosphere, fully packed with the deafening roars of the crowds in the stands soaring over the music heard all the way to your station. Another voice joined in the noise, demanding your attention.
"Raiko, are you ready?"
Letting out an exasperated breath, you waved off whoever spoke to you and closed your eyes again.
"Give me a minute, will you?"
Okay, where was I?
It's not about how fast you go-
A drilling noise came from your right, annoying the living daylights out of you.
Ah, fuck it. Since we keep getting interrupted...
How about I tell you a little bit about me.
Name's Raiko Suruki.
Yes, that Suruki. Here we go again.
I'm the daughter of the famed Hiro Suruki, five times Japan World Rally Championship winner, consecutively if I may add.
Proud podium sitter for thousands of times.
Also kind of a living legend of the primetime of the rally world.
The same Hiro Suruki that started one of the best teams in the history of Japanese rally, snatching six more titles under his directory. WRC'S Golden Boy.
After his personal fifth title, he decided he wanted something more. Something that would fulfill him, beside his love for driving at the most insane speeds known to man and having his first and only child - that's me, in case you didn't know.
Anyway, without any second thoughts or doubts, he retired from the sport out of nowhere, changing the fireproofs for the laid-back team principal shirt and a cheap very 'dad' baseball cap. At barely 35 years of age, he took the biggest leap of faith of his life and Suruki Racing was born out of fuel and passion for rally.
He poured everything he had into the team and built it from scratch, taking it so high in his prime that everyone wanted a piece of it. Be it driving in a seat for the team, changing parts as a mechanic or simply having shares in it.
It was basically the shit. The pinnacle of rally in the whole of Japan.
The team became a national sensation. So many influential people, from mere businessmen to politicians, even foreigners were so interested in it and helping it expand. It genuinely felt like the only way for him was up, flying like a rocket towards the legends' hall of fame.
It went like that for a while. He was beaming with happiness, unable to understand where all that luck came from. But like everything good, it didn't last. Once he started to question it all, it was like a switch flipped inwards and it all fell to ruins.
Everything started going wrong.
All of a sudden, the cars started missing parts the night before races. They had engine failures mid-race in almost every stage, followed by DNF's on every scoreboard.
And those aren't even the most shocking things that happened. You name the disaster and it definitely happened to Suruki Racing at one point. Disastrous, life-changing, career-ending type of things.
The mess piled up more and more and it showed despite dad's efforts to stay afloat.
Contract deals with sponsors started falling through, losing funding for a lot of parts and investments in equipment. Then the drivers got fed up with the constant failed races and blamed the car or the team if they felt like it. They terminated their contracts way before their terms were up under the pretense that they wanted different things... which were not related to Suruki Racing. The mechanics chose to stay, well, a few of them anyways, but it wasn't enough.
The team ripped at the seams and slowly but surely ran into the ground and dad couldn't find at least one reason why it happened.
It was like a curse you couldn't get rid of and I saw it happen first-hand.
The late nights he would spend in the garage trying new parts that kept failing with every test on the car. The way he would go as low as begging the drivers to come back offering them money he didn't have because no driver, rookie or experienced, didn't even bat an eye once the name of the team was mentioned.
Lost, penniless and with a heavy heart, he had to watch the one thing he loved the most on earth rust little by little, no matter what he would do to prevent it.
Mom called it karma for his reckless racing days because as talented as he was, the road forgives no one. That you can be God's favourite and still lose everything. And he didn't want to understand that. He never did.
I was too young to help back then. Too young to understand what Suruki Racing meant to him. Too young to do the only thing I could to save it.
Until now.
So, let's try that again, shall we?
Name's Rai Suruki, driver for Suruki Racing 2.0.
Another knock to your helmet, echoing in your head louder than the first, brought you back to the real world for good this time. Mechanics rushed around you to finish the set up on the car before you were called up to take your spot in front of the race marshal, which from a quick glance at the scoreboard would be soon.
Looking to your left, you were met with a set of dull brown eyes, messy jet black hair, a funky moustache and an extremely creased forehead for his middle age, all belonging to your co-driver, Don Tanaka. He's another legend of the sport.
Former training coach for some of the current biggest teams in the WRC, with a CV of experiences surpassing most people that have been in rally for longer. On top of all that, he is an even bigger friend of your father's. When he called him up asking for an old favour to train you, he couldn't say no.
But if it was up to commenting, you'd say he was one of the biggest fools for giving up a lavish salary with so many perks for one favour, especially for your old fart of a father.
Driving with him was great, but training with him was hell on Earth.
"I was doing my mantra," you reasoned, trying to get him off your case.
"Your mantra sucks."
He is an absolute joy to be around, isn't he?
"Well," you turned to him in your seat with a tight-lipped smile, "you're the one choosing to be co-driver to a young adult at your ripe age of 40. If I was you I would've picked something more calming, like gardening."
Bringing his hand to his chin in thinking, he sat in silence for a moment before he spoke.
"That doesn't sound so bad right now," he went on trying to push your buttons.
"Oh, shush," you waved him off, turning back to the wheel.
If there was one thing he liked doing, it was keeping you in check by poking fun at you. He was like that one uncle you could always go to with your secrets or to ask for extra pocket money, but in return he liked to tease the fuck out of you for it. Every. Single. Time.
As much as you hated his antics, you did kind of owe him a lot. He was the one who caught your talent for racing early on, back when you would drive plastic mini cars made from scraps around the team garage like you had years of experience. A few drifting maneuvers around old tires done like a pro at the cool age of 8, and he was sold on you and your potential.
Amongst all the teasing and the pain of having to train like a man, you've spent enough time with him to know you could count on him for literally anything. He was the best co-driver you could ask for and you wouldn't want anyone else in that seat directing your fate for the world.
He knew what it took to annoy you greatly in order to deliver on the dirt track and prove yourself. Especially now, since you were the only woman on highly occupied male territory.
Racing is a man's world. With as many female advancements in motorsport as there were today, the majority of the community was still not convinced that a woman could drive better than a man or even compete alongside a whole grid of their species. They can regard you, acknowledge your existence, but they would never accept you.
Your father knew your entry to the championship would stir up a lot of unwanted attention, besides the fact that he was basically reviving a cursed team and you happened to be the poster face for it this time around. It sounded like a catastrophe in the making.
Frankly, you were ecstatic to get to drive an actual race car outside of the junior series and helping the team get back to its rightful place, restoring its deserved glory. But you knew it wasn't going to be easy work. Especially, since public enemy number one - the press - was going to try and tear you to sparkly shreds for a lot of reasons. An attack that they started before any official information was out.
A few months ago, when the announcement of Suruki Racing's comeback after ten years of inactivity hit the WRC, the media had a field day with it.
They criticized your father for being a nutjob that didn't know when to quit. They smeared Don Tanaka's name like he didn't make most of the drivers currently selling their dying papers. They even tried to get paid scoops from anyone involved with the team in the slightest.
But the team had one wildcard left to play before pulling the curtains for good and giving them the satisfaction that they ruined it.
You.
The press didn't know about you. No one in the other teams knew about you. Thanks to your father's extremely private life, no one even knew of your existence.
The only people that did were your team in the garage, from the mechanics to your PR agent.
Even walking into the circuit grounds this morning, long hair down over your shoulders, sporting the team gear in plain sight, no one batted an eye at you. Even if they did, they would think you were involved with technical or marketing - though even that was a rarity in this universe - or worse, just another groupie looking to get one of the drivers under your hood.
Your father wanted to give everyone a show they'll never forget by having you drive the first race in the calendar without a proper introduction. No car reveal. No interviews. No pre-race press conference. Just a car and its driver.
This way they would judge your driving before they actually got to judge you for being a woman at the wheel of a three hundred horsepower beast. He trusted you and your judgement on the track far more than the lousy press setting you up for fail. They would get a proper car show and speech after the race anyway.
It was out of the ordinary but that kinda summed up Hiro Suruki and his bipolar personality.
The distorted sound of a megaphone, followed by the voice of the race marshal called you to the start line.
"Car 7, Rai Suruki for Suruki Racing, you're up next!"
You could already see everyone turning their eyes to your station, booming cheers going quiet, turning into sharp murmurs.
Time to get this show going.
Rolling up your windows to block the world, you put the car in gear and drove to the start line, waiting for the green light. Looking out at the lines in the road ahead of you spotting the first hazard ahead, the nerves climbed up your spine faster than your engine could pump the pistons for pressure.
You prepared for this for most of your life, but if you were being honest, it all got a little too real now, sitting with your foot hovering above the gas pedal ahead of the moment that could make or break your career before it even started. The very moment that could be a step forward to restoring your father's name, getting the team back on track in a new age of rally racing. The moment for a change.
No pressure, right?
"Raiko," your co-driver called your name, but you couldn't tear your eyes away from the road, gloved fingers tightening on top of the wheel with a small snap. "Do you remember the course?"
"Yes."
"Good. All set?"
"I think so."
"Raiko, look at me."
"You're not my style."
"Raiko," his voice turned more serious and deep with warning. With another sigh into the small, cramped space for breathing your helmet provided, you turned to him.
"You've got this. Let's prove everyone wrong."
He was right.
Let's prove everyone wrong.
The race marshal started the countdown, walking from the front of your car to the side, each number in the count descending with your nerves. You loosened the hold on the wheel, stretched your legs to the pedals and let out a deep breath.
"3."
It's not about how fast you go.
"2."
It's about how long you go fast.
"1."
Fast like lightning.
"GO!"
A soon as the lights went green, you hit the throttle and took off into the dirt, raising the dust behind you. You skidded off to the side a little due to the gravel but you got control of it before anyone could notice.
Tokai was a pretty difficult course to rally depending on which stages got picked for the day. More forest terrain gave way to hard roads, receding in wheel control, gaining insane suspension pressure. This one was more of an open valley terrain, which was a bit safer, but the later you got the okay to race, the more dust and gravel from other drivers would pile up in front of you, making visibility dangerously low. The corners were way too tight and one second off from Tanaka's directions or a mishap of your footing could cost you and put your car on the sidelines.
"5 left over crest," Tanaka paced you for the upcoming hill and you prepared to release the throttle.
"1 left 100."
Wheels back on the ground, you resumed pressing the pedal as a hairpin portion came into view. The cloud of dust in front of you was chalky and you had to get through it before it raised higher. Putting the car in second gear, you got ready for the drift portion.
You had to be extra careful here. The mechanic in chief told you to go easy as the rear could send you into oversteer, throwing off the balance of the car and fuck up the race completely.
Listening to your gut, you waited for the right time then tapped the brake, cut the wheels and pressed the throttle, sliding across the portion. Loud cheers and whistles erupted as the crowd in the stands got up to watch you complete a perfect drift.
"3 right don't cut."
Reduce pace and prepare for a possible road hazard.
You slowed down and sure enough a bump in the road came up. If you missed that one and took it at 120 kmph, it would've projected you off the track, crashing the car hard into the rocky wall like a cereal box. Thankfully, you swerved around it, feeling the car lift off the ground on the left for a bit before it fell back down.
"6 right very long."
Hard left into a tight corner.
"Cut 8 left."
Tight corner requiring you to follow a straight line in the curb.
This was the last and worst corner on the track. You were lucky it didn't rain because this is where your car can skid off into the stands. You caught the straight line pretty fast, cutting a few seconds off your lap time without slowing down.
Following the rest of Tanaka's directions and focusing on the rest of the road, the race finished before you knew it. You liked the state you were in as you drove, mind clear of everything else because as soon as the adrenaline in your body decreased, your brain got bombarded by all kinds of issues.
Did I push the new suspensions too hard? God, I hope I didn't scratch the rear in the hairpin. Was my timing too off on that last corner? I should've practiced it more.
Driving back to your team's station, you sent all those worries at the back of your head and got out to watch the screen showing the score board just as it updated to display the new track times since you were the last to go.
1. Akira Shinkai - Sigma Racing Academy - 1.23.40
2. Naozumi Hiyama - Spica Racing Factory - 1.23.59
3. Rai Suruki - Suruki Racing - 1.24.25
"WE BAGGED THIRD PLACE?!" you yelled throwing off your helmet onto the car seat.
"WE SURE DID," Tanaka high fived you, beaming with energy just like you.
"That's 15 points on the first stage! Well done, lightning strike," he ruffled your hair as you snickered, nose scrunching up with a smile at the gesture you were already accustomed to.
"The car held up a lot better today than in testing. Maybe we lifted the curse," you wiggled your eyebrows at him at which he flicked your forehead. "Ow, what did you do that for?"
"Don't jinx it. We still have two more stages to go."
"But-"
Before you could say anything else, you were interrupted by angry shouting coming from the station next to you.
"I told you to not touch the third gear," yelled a strained voice.
You walked to the side of your station, peeking your head by the team banner, and watched the heated exchange between one of the drivers and his mechanic. Your eyes wandered to the car sitting in the middle, not one hand touching it for the regular post-race check up. From the different strokes of sky blue layered over stark white, the red and blue sponsor stickers and the carbon spoiler, you recognized it to be Spica Racing's.
"It doesn't matter now," shouted another voice, so annoyed and sure of themselves as if they owned the place. "I got a good lap record this time."
"What would you do if you had to retire in the middle of the race?" shot the mechanic, chastising the driver for being careless.
He got up in his face, towering over him though the other was much taller than him.
"We won't win if I don't attack!" he yelled back, throwing his hand in the air to make a point. "The moment I think of being scared I will lose. I won't make that mistake. So just do your job and fix the car."
With that final remark, he rounded the car to walk away from the station until he noticed you in the corner, now standing in full sight just at the line between your stations.
Quickly replacing the scowl on his face with what was probably his natural smirk, he came to you, stopping short of the barrier separating you.
"I don't do autographs, but for you I can do more than that," he added a daring wink, flashing his cocky smile at you.
Ew.
Taking a small step back hoping his vibes wouldn't envelop you, you uncrossed your arms from your chest and lifted an eyebrow at him.
"I don't want your autograph."
Taken aback at your response, he backed up slightly too and looked you up and down, taking in your deep blue and dark gold team fireproofs and the suit tied messily around your waist. The old, way out of fashion colours seemed to ring a bell.
"Suruki Racing...," he started doubtful, "the shithole that revived from the ashes? Are you a mechanic, a co-driver or something for them? If you are, why don't you jump ships? I wouldn't mind having you on my team instead," he finished his speech of intent with another shit-eating grin.
Who the fuck was this guy?
The audacity that wafted off him must definitely make him popular with the ladies.
"I don't think we've met before," you extended your hand out to him, curt and polite, like a normal person would do, introducing yourself.
"Rai Suruki, driver for Suruki Racing," emphasizing your role in the team so he got it through his head that you weren't some bimbo.
If you were, you'd make sure your fist decorated his face in pretty red tones before anything else.
He straightened back, smirk gone from his face in all sense of the word. It got replaced by some kind of curiosity. Looking between you and your palm hanging in the air he looked confused to say the least. He's heard about female racers before and seen some working in technical around the place, he's just never seen one stand against him on track.
Tired of being polite to someone who obviously has never heard about manners, you were about to retract your extended hand when he caught it in a firm grip and pulled it towards him, just holding it instead of shaking it. The move sent you forwards, almost barreling into him when your reaction response kicked in to steel you a safe distance away.
Maybe Tanaka's intense survival program pays off sometimes.
"So," he began and you wondered if he was about to say something intelligent or spew more shit with that mouth of his. He decided to choose the latter. "You're the one driving the Beetle dupe right there?"
Eh, come again?
Your eyes widened at him, looking at where his finger was pointed to confirm that he was pointing at your car and not anywhere else, then you whirled your head back at him appalled.
"B-Beetle dupe?!"
"I thought you were a guy."
Wouldn't be the first time I heard that one.
You took your hand back from his hold, wiping it on the sleeves of the suit hanging on your hips in the hopes that it would wipe off the disgust you were feeling too. It didn't but it was worth a try.
"It's the name," you replied through gritted teeth.
He backed up some more to scan you again, though more attentively this time, like you were some kind of illegality, cooked up from the pits of his imagination. You gave him your best front, hardening your jaw and rolling your shoulders backwards, proving you were more than a pair of boobs and a vagina, which was apparently his deranged first impression of you.
You deserved to be here. No amount of stares from the male specimen, surprised or with sinful intentions, could ever make you back down from this. This was yours to take on. No man could take this from you. Not him anyway.
So, you stared him down too, trying to find something else beside the extreme big dick energy and unsurmountable lack of scruples surrounding him. Struggling to see anything else but some disdain in the way he crossed his arms over his broad chest, a rich prick attitude from how he shifted on his legs like the world owed him golden lingos every time he breathed, and some leftover rage from the screaming match with his mechanic still present in the tick of his jaw, you let your eyes meet his own in conclusion of your very own analysis.
Yeah, there's nothing else in there. An ambulant douchebag. Just like I thought.
Flashing cameras were suddenly thrown in your faces, interrupting the intense stare-down between you. The press and some people, potentially fans of other teams by their t-shirts, surrounded you from every corner of the plastic barrier around the two stations, pushing each other over the race marshals that tried their hardest to keep them away. It wasn't long until they pushed over the barrier.
Too absorbed in the chaos, you didn't notice he leaned down to your ear but when you did, you stilled in your shoes, all blood draining into your pounding stomach. He spoke close and low, so only you could hear his words.
"Don't get too comfortable around here, rookie," he whispered, hot breath hitting the shell of your ear making shivers run down your extremely clothed spine. "Let's see how long you last in here because this season might just be your first and last."
Pulling away with another one of his smirks that were starting to get on your nerves, he regarded you once more before he walked off in amusement to his cool-down room, giving you a full view of his broad back.
Oh, just you wait -
A reporter shoved into the human barrier of orange and green safety vests reaching the railing, yanking it back and forth repeatedly until the poor plastic seal broke off, letting everyone else pool in around you.
Uh-oh. This wasn't good.
They packed around you like wolves on their prey, all shouting different things at you while shoving their big cameras, recording devices and phones in your face. The flashes blinded you, turning the world white and too bright for it to be natural light from the clouded sky above.
Your hands shot up on instinct to cover your eyes from the flaring lights as your ears focused on filtering through the blaring sounds of camera clicks and voices. Then the countless questions registered clear as day, hitting you like a truck at full speed.
"Are you Rai Suruki, daughter of Hiro Suruki?"
"Where did your father get the money to restart the team?"
"Is your car even going to last a season?"
"Do you consider yourself a challenge to the rest of the drivers?"
I guess that was it for mystery, dad.
Some of the other teams passed by the ruckus, sparing quick judgmental glances or sending disgusting sneers your way like that was the way they initiated your welcome ceremony at the gates of the jungle.
If this was any other series, you would've been so welcomed by the rest of the grid and treated somewhat better by the media and the fans. But this was the World Rally Championships.
Driving was dirty.
Talk was filthy, full of disrespect and unspoken trials of envy between each driver.
The press competed to see who would get your head on a pike first and parade it as the story of the century.
Respect was fought for, not earned.
It was a different game. One where you needed to play even if you didn't want to so in turn you wouldn't get played. Survival of the fittest truly.
You steeled your gaze, waving the reporters off and digging a hole through the crowd, successfully escaping away to your pit crew. Helping with packing up bits and pieces and taking your own stuff, you headed back to your team quarters, aware of the intensifying stares belonging to the rest of the teams still around their stations, talking about the first day in this season's calendar being an interesting one.
You had a feeling you and the team were the hot topic of conversation since you could feel their eyes searing deep holes into your back, burning hotter and doing more damage than flame-lit arrows aimed straight at you ever could. Tanaka wrapped an arm around you giving you his curled moustache smile, sympathizing with you.
Looking up at the sky darkening in mauve and pink, you let a small smile grace your lips. At least today was done. Your rally racing career has officially started. The team was back in business.
However, this first stage was just one of the many challenges still to come. Who knew what else was on the way?
As you trudged on the warm asphalt, warmed by the mid-spring warmth of March, there was one thing you knew for sure.
This is gonna be a long season.

Chapter 4 // Chapter 6
☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾
Wooyoung and you were out of breath when you fell on the floor of the dance studio, lying next to him. You turned to each other with mutual grins.
“If we don't get the best grade with this,” you muttered after a few seconds.
"You're taking the words out of my mouth!"
You laughed and straightened up to clap your hands. Wooyoung then turned around, his eyes shining.
“Don't you agree with us Sannie? What did you think?”
It was with enthusiasm that Wooyoung just addressed his boyfriend and alpha, Choi San, student in the same school as both of you, but in second year. The omega thought of calling his boyfriend to have an external opinion on the choreography they had spent the week preparing. The choice of music helped a lot to make their imaginations work, the steps, and the combinations of these had naturally come to both of you.
The deadline was approaching and even if neither you nor he was stressed by the time, you still felt some form of anxiety over the level of performance and the quality of your choreography.
You were lucky (or unlucky, depending on the perspective) to get a preview of what Jimin, Jungkook, and Hoseok were up to, and you couldn't describe how you felt because these three idiots were the most talented and dammit attractive dancers you knew.
You, too, turned to San, more nervous than your friend. It was the first time you met him in person. As you imagined, he was very impressive, very tall, and very charming.
With his arms crossed against his chest, he nodded, a smile appearing on the corner of his lips.
“Some of my graduating class and even senior year would be unable to do better! There is a very good chemistry between the two of you. You make a very good duo.”
You sighed with relief as Wooyoung jumped into his companion's arms.
Yes, choosing Finesse by Bruno Mars and Cardi B had been a very good idea.
“You know that in my eyes you will always be the best dancer in this school,” added San, hugging Wooyoung, “ah, no offense little y/n!”
“Don't worry,” you answered, laughing and waving your hand, “I'm far from being equal to anyone here in terms of talent,” you continued directly, seeing that your friend was going to intervene with your remark, but you didn’t let him the chance, “And by the way, I'm the same size as Wooyoung, I'm not small!”
You rolled your eyes at their laughs and grabbed your cell phone before lying on the floor again. You got a message from Jimin. He was in another room, busy rehearsing his solo choreography, and wanted to know when you'd be finished rehearsing to join you. Now that you think about it, it's probably been ages since you two spent time together like you used to when you were still in high school.
“By the way Noona,” Wooyoung appeared above you, while you were answering your best friend's message, “have you made any progress on your choreography? Are you still sure of your choice?”
“Hm? I think you just want to know if I choose the music you suggested, am I right?” you asked, arching an eyebrow and chuckling when you saw his innocent expression, “yeah Wooyoung, I chose Sweet but Psycho, I even finished the choreography, I just need to rework it a little and adjust a few things!”
“Really? I'll be curious to see it, can you show it to us?”
You turned to San, your cheeks flushed.
“Mingi is waiting for us Sannie! He is downstairs!” Wooyoung had just received a message, and was already grabbing his stuff, winking at you as you silently thanked him, “Next time!” He turned to you, “By the way Noona, we can give you a ride if you want!”
“Jimin is upstairs, we're planning to go home together, but thanks for offering!”
“Ah, Park Jimin, another talented monster,” San commented with a nod.
You nodded with a groan and straightened up. You accepted the hand of the alpha, “Ah, thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you, San!”
“The pleasure is mutual little y/n,” he winked at you when he saw a pout appear on your face, “Wooyoung will give you my phone number, if you need anything don't hesitate.”
“I'll give it to you by text, be safe, Cardi B!”
You nodded, a little surprised, but smiled at Wooyoung's nickname as you watched them leave, hand in hand. You were happy to meet one of Wooyoung's partners finally. San was a very respectful and pleasant person. You quickly felt comfortable in his presence.
You heard voices outside the dance studio but didn't really pay attention to them, at this time of the day, most of the rooms were still occupied by students. What you didn't know though, was that those voices belonged to Jimin and Wooyoung, who had crossed paths. Jimin greeted the omega, not forgetting to introduce himself to his boyfriend. As usual, Jimin had worn a friendly smile, a cheerful and pleasant tone, as everyone knew him.
However, when San and Wooyoung left him alone in the corridor, his smile disappeared, replaced by a neutral face. He walked into the dance hall, finding you with your back facing him.
"Noona, it's me."
You gasped as you heard the voice of your best friend, who just entered the room. You turned to him, your bag in hand, surprised he came so quickly.
You frowned slightly. Jimin seemed... absent and frustrated. Had something gone wrong during his rehearsal?
“You’re okay?” you asked as you walked towards him, "Did something happen?”
“Ah! Hm... no, not at all! I just ran into Wooyoung and... Choi San? It just surprised me!”
He rubbed the back of his head, a tight smile on his face. You tilted your head to the side, confused by his reaction.
“San is one of Wooyoung's alpha’s,” you explained as you turned on your heels to get your jacket, “I thought I told you he was in a pack with seven other people.”
Jimin nodded silently, which surprised you. Without a word, he walked over to you, and before you could open your mouth, you felt your friend's arms around your waist, clinging to you as he nuzzled his face into your neck.
“J-Jimin you…”
You heard him mutter a few words that you didn't really understand. It felt like an eternity passed since your last embrace. It was true that you had been a little physically distant since you discovered you were an omega. You tried to avoid physical contact as subtly as possible, although you didn't always succeed.
When you live with seven people with more than half of them have physical touch as a love language, it’s hard to always find a good excuse to avoid it.
You suffered a lot because just like them, you had always liked these physical marks of affection they had towards you, and inversely, you liked to show them your affection towards them in this way.
As always, your whole being was surrounded by that soft, protective warmth you only felt when they were the origin of it. This feeling was even more powerful when it came to Jimin, your best friend, the most important and precious person in your life.
You couldn't resist wrapping your arms around Jimin's chest, holding him close, and resting your head against his shoulder.
You couldn't fight against it. This was where you felt the safest in the world. Were you felt at your place. In your best friend's arms.
How you missed those moments.
“Hey… Are you sure you're all right, Jimin?”
“You have his smell, I don't like it.”
You straightened your head slightly, surprised by these words. What was he talking about?
“Who…”
“Choi San... I saw you when you took his hand to get up… and his wink…” he paused for a moment before sighing and looking into your eyes, “and… I noticed you were distant recently… you’ll not leaving us, aren’t you? You’ll not leave with them...?”
You had expected everything but this. Jimin always had a jealous and possessive side, he was the one who needed to give and receive affection the most. All this showed a great lack of self-confidence in the young man.
When you were still at school, you heard that his parents had placed him, like you, in a public school reserved for alpha males. Unfortunately, he didn't fit the physical criteria for alphas his age. When most alpha teenagers were already tall and voice-muted, Jimin was short and puffy-faced. His voice hadn't really changed until he was seventeen. Of course, different as he was, although it was not his fault, he was bullied at school.
Like you, dancing had been a refuge that had allowed him to keep his head above water.
This episode of his life had left indelible marks on him. Especially since he had not really been able to benefit from psychological support from his family. His parents thought the harassment was nothing more than teenage squabbling.
They did not approve of his decision to join this dance school. Jimin had to be patient and persuasive to get their permission, against their will. They proclaimed that he would eventually realize that he had no future in this world and that he would come back to the right path or God knows what other nonsense they had come up with, he had stopped listening to them after a while anyway.
You knew the insecurities and lack of trust your best friend had in him. He always had this constant fear of losing and being abandoned by the people he loved.
He and you were the same. You had similar schooling, your families came from the same rich environment, and had the same mentality. You had the same wounds, some of which were still open.
So unsurprisingly, the second you heard his words, the surprise passed, and your gaze softened. You put your two hands on Jimin's cheeks and started caressing them.
“Sorry,” he murmured with a sad pout, “I’m sorry I don't know why I…”
“Don't apologize,” you answered with a little smile, “it's all right…”
“No it’s not.., you don't understand,” he looked away, biting his lip nervously, “it's not all right at all… smelling his scent on you makes me... even though he's an alpha already bound,” he breathed deeply, as if he was trying to control himself, “it's like he's going to take you away from me.”
“Never.” You spoke softly as your thumb caresses his cheeks, “ Listen Jimin, nothing and no one can ever take me away from you,” you whispered, “and if... if his smell bothers you so much, replace it with your own.”
He looked up at you, his lips parted. You couldn’t resist looking down on them, biting yours nervously. Slowly, your eyes moved up to his eyes, your hands still on his soft cheeks. You were so close to him, you could feel his breath gently caressing your lips, making you shiver.
You felt him leaning closer to you, his chest now touching yours. Your lips were close, very close.
No… No, you couldn’t do that to him, nor to your friends, his partners.
You stepped back slightly. You took a long breath and ran a hand through your hair. What were you doing? And what were those words you told him?
It was that warmth again, that smell. Jimin's smell. There was this desire, this desire for him. You couldn’t control yourself. And it wasn't your hormones and your omega side this time, no. Maybe it was the distance you had put between you that amplified and rekindled the feelings you had once repressed when you were still a teenager. Your friendship has always been the most important, more than your feelings.
What were you thinking? Jimin was just your friend, your best friend. And already bonded with other people.
“Y/n you…”
“Ah, excuse me, I’m just saying nonsense,” you lied and chuckled slightly, shaking your head, “this is ridiculous, isn't it? We'd better go, Jin and Hobi must be waiting for you!”
“Don't say that,” he frowned, “this is not ridiculous, and… they're waiting for us. You and me.”
“Yeah, that's what I was saying, let's go!”
°°°
A pout appeared on your face when you heard Wooyoung’s laugh through your phone. you could have sworn you heard another one. Probably Yeosang’s, Wooyoung omega’s partner. He quickly introduced him to you when you called him twenty minutes ago.
After your… moment with Jimin, you both joined Hoseok and Jin who were waiting in their car to come home. You didn’t feel any weird mood between Jimin and you, for your greater relief. But you couldn’t forget what happened.
“I don’t see what’s funny guys!” you told them in an annoyed tone, “What would have happened if I hadn’t stepped back?”
“A Kiss? A long and passionate kiss because you both want it since you know each other. A kiss turning into a hot make-out session and even maybe…” Wooyoung makes a pause, before whispering, “A torrid and desperate fuck. Oh, that made me think that I always wanted to do it in a risky place…”
You sighed loudly not listening to your friend anymore who was rambling. Even if the simple idea of you and Jimin doing any sexual things in a place like a dance studio, when you can get caught at any moment…
You squeeze your thighs together and shook your head, your face was as red as a tomato.
“I… I can’t Woo’!”
“And why? You like him, aren’t you? More than a friend I mean.”
You opened your mouth and then closed it. You passed your hand through your hair and stood up to sit on the ground, your back against your bed and your phone on your knees.
“First he’s my best friend.” You began, hearing both omegas sighing, but you ignored them. “Second, he’s taken. Taken with people who are very close friends… And third, I’m an omega and they don’t know anything about that, things could change between us and I don’t want it…”
“Okay…First, you didn’t answer directly to my question but… I think this is the best one I could have.” Wooyoung smirked. “Second, I don’t see where’s the problem. You also have a crush on them, aren’t you?”
You frowned and stayed silent. You couldn’t deny that you liked every one of them. Really. They were all kind, and funny, you’ve never felt as safe as you do with them. And they were all hot as hell.
“Listen, I wanted to tell you this sooner,” Wooyoung began with a serious and soft voice, “but all the symptoms you describe when you’re with them, it’s not only your omega’s genes.”
“Well, actually it is, a little,” Yeosang added, “but it only works if you are interested in the alphas. Only if you want them sentimentally, and, or physically, both works.”
“When you met San this afternoon, an alpha, when he took your hand, did you feel something?”
“You mean if I had this heat in my body? This feeling of safety, these butterflies in my stomach? If I wanted to kiss him and spend my life in his arms? Of course not! I only have this with… with Jimin and… and with them… Holy shit.”
You heard two laughs and grabbed a pillow to hide your face in. You let yourself fall to the floor with a loud and desperate whimper.
Wooyoung didn’t tell you that he asked his boyfriend to come and see them during their dance practice for this specific purpose. He wanted to let you experience the difference between the feeling of being with someone you’re attracted to, and someone you’re not attracted to. Practice always was more effective than theory.
“Listen, sweetie,” you heard the deep and soft voice of Yeosang after a few seconds, “Just trust your heart. We can’t know how hard it could be for you, that’s true. But if you really love them, if you don’t want to lose them, you need to be honest.”
“And if they don’t accept you as an omega, fuck them! You’ll come live with us! Yunho hyung will like you for sure!”
“I don’t think she needs to think about that, Love. Let’s stay positive, should we?” Yeosang sighs, making you chuckle.
But Yeosang was right. And that’s why you felt so guilty. You knew you needed to be honest with the boys. Plus, with your avoidant behavior towards them, Jimin thought you planned to leave them, which was the last fucking thing you wanted.
Well, for your feelings, everything was confusing until now… You began to understand, thanks to Wooyoung and Yeosang. But the omega part was… still so fucking complicated. Every time you thought about a way to tell, at least, just one of them, you saw your mother’s face again when she knew the truth. You could hear the disgust in her voice again. The fear of experiencing it again paralyzed you to do anything with them.
You heard your stomach growling and you sighed. A bowl of ramyeon first. Yeah, you needed to eat.
°°°
And third, I’m an omega and they don’t know anything about that, things could change between us and I don’t want it.
Jungkook froze in front of your bedroom, his fist still on the door, ready to knock. He just wanted to show you something on his phone when he heard the end of your sentence.
He blinked quickly, and lean his head, confused.
“Noona… is an omega…?”
“What… did you say, Jungkook?”
He gasped when he heard Yoongi’s voice behind him. Seeing the confused look on his younger’s face, Yoongi realized that he, too, had just learned this information.
“Wait hyung, maybe I misunderstood…” Jungkook whispered, walking to him, “But I think I heard…”
“I think we need an emergency pack meeting, Bunny, and now.”

UH OKAY DUST X REAPER AND/OR SWAPFELL X NIGHTMARE? AHEUUEHA
omfg i love you i’m jumping at the chance to look at dust x reaper i better see some art somewhere in this fandom OUGH ok
well, dust’s died like how many times now, lets just assume they’ve ENCOUNTERED one another yeah?
⬇️⬇️⬇️
reaper feels bad for him. he isn’t even allowed to actually die, just experience death over and over, only to be thrust back into this torturous cycle.
imagine dust dying in the hall, he’s stumbling away and he just. sees the grim reaper. and he’s like oh shit. well then. *gets thrown back whenever they decide to reset*
reaper visiting a lot because, well, he’s dying a lot, he’s probably gotta. imagine a scenario where they actually get to talk. but its so so brief, dust is never dead very long, and reaper probably shouldn’t interfere otherwise…
(he’d also, be witnessing the deaths of the aus other residence, which. interesting. wonder what they have to say about things. and what reapers response may be.)
(of course this is assuming they interact after death, which i think makes sense with common depictions of the reaper at least)
dust probably chalks him up to a vision he’s having, or hallucination, when he dies, but maybe when he’s given more time, they can have broken up conversations.
like hey, mid sentence he gets thrown back into the land of the living, but HEY! next time he dies, just pick up the convo like nothing happened. “Anyways as i was sayin-“
Another thing to think about is just how SIMILAR dust is to geno. and most of us are afterdeath junkies i think💀
like, dust and geno have VERY similar motivations and go to similar lengths (think of error even)
i think of reaper could come to respect genos desires and motives, he’d feel the same towards dust. reaper always strikes me as a really lonely person, and dust is too for obvious reasons.
i’m imagining a scenario where reaper is just. real bored of just watching. so he starts like following dust around so he can see him. and dusts like ah. cool. fucking phantom ass to add to the list. i’m imagining reaper telling him like no, i’m very real dude, and dust is like haha ok, lemme touch you then
…for obvious reasons he can’t let him touch him💀💥 but that would probably make dust assume he is in fact a hallucination. but that’s ok. he’s an ODDLY nice hallucination.
maybe he even reminds him of the river person🤷🏽‍♀️
anyways, reaper just having convo, dust finding he likes it, it’s pleasant chatter to listen to, and then he’s like damn i really am sick, why am i so attached to this weird ass hallucination
(i’m just idea dumping so hard i apologize.)
reaper would find his conviction kinda cute, if not slightly frustrating. like bro, out here denying my existence, wtf💔
i wonder, if reaper can touch him when”” when he’s in the space of death, temporarily.
that would be cool :,))
if reaper doesn’t show up for a while and comes back dust just, getting happier, he’s got someone to talk to again that isn’t a dead friend or relative he’s killed multiple times.
i imagine dust has seen “death” enough times that, in life, he can “see death” (reaper)
they gain this weird little affection for eachother ok💔 a selfish part of reaper hopes dust will always get reset…so he can come talk to him
but part of him is also disgusted by the hope that he’s able to just. be laid to rest. what can be done yk?
YOU COULD MAKE THIS SO ANGSTY WHERE LIKE the anomaly suddenly
stops!
and dust is actually on his way to wherever you’d go when you die
imagine, reaper just. guiding him away to whatever afterlife or lack thereof, carrying his soul away and having to let him go. no more coming back.
cries
or yk, we can imagine a scenario where dust gets out of the loop, and they continue to see eachother and have their weird little friendship (?)
dust is like “i’ve seen death, he’s over my shoulder as i walk, whispers in my ear as i lie awake at night. death awaits my presence, and i deaths. i’ve felt the touch of death, and it was unbearably sweet , a feeling i will forever long for”
*horror from whoever he’s speaking to*
meanwhile reaper is just like, telling stupid jokes in his ear and giggling over someone’s stupid outfit, gossiping about the other gods and making dust look crazy laughing at stupid shit
i wonder if reaper could potentially see dusts phantoms, it’s a fun idea. they aren’t REALLY there, but dusts magic is kind of projecting them i imagine, and reaper has seen them when they die. i just imagine him shooing them away for dust, and he’s like naw man pay attention to me instead *slutty little strut*
you could interpret the way death even works a million different ways and have a bunch of different potential even. what if dust were to die and reaper…DOESNT guide his soul away. what if he keeps him. maybe dust wants that. they could “be together”.
maybe there’s an afterlife, and reaper is able to cross the gap. who knows. lots of potential.
they both have hoodies >:3 idc if that doesn’t mean anything
i feel like reapers dark humor would almost comfort dust lmao, it kinda lightens the load for him. reaper can assure dust that their souls are…ok. they’re at peace.
reaper is just happy to feel so validated and seen all the sudden
he can help dust understand how life really works
ironic huh. the essence of death being the thing that gives you a will to live.
just imagine in a time he’s died, reaper not being able to help himself. he just comes in for a hug. and both of them need it so badly. when dust is alive, he CANT touch him.
they both think about that hug a lot <//3

Get Your Head Straight
Epilogue for Sweet Treats AU: by character | chronological | epilogues
Tumblr media
Warnings: these drabbles will include dark elements such as noncon, control, intimidation, and other stuff that may not be specified. Take this as your chance to scroll by.
Please let me know what you think.
🍫🍫🍫
Your soles scuff on the worn wooden floor.  Your resistance proves as futule as before. Nicky throws you down. You sprawl as you land on your back. You wheeze as the wind is knocked out of you.
You groan and roll onto your shoulder. You push yourself up and look around the grim space. A single standing lamp lights the frigid room, along with a dirty couch and a scratched up table. And something else. Someone else.
You pull your shirt straight, your jeans still open as the button is scattered somewhere in the next room. You slowly lift yourself to your knees and hands. You move cautiously as shadows shift behind you.
"Taking his damn time," Lloyd snarls as he chews.
"Whatever. Those assholes can wait. Money will be there," Nick snorts.
You crawl over to Birdy as she curls up on the other side of the dingy couch. She doesn’t react as you put your hand on her arm. You sense eyes on you and peer over at the men as they make quick note of your movement. They're hardly bothered as they go back to crinkling some bag or another, the crunch of their eating irritating.
"Bird," you rub her shoulder as she lays with her back to you. She doesn't answer.
For a moment, your chest surges with panic. Is she breathing? She's so still. You hover your fingers in front of your nose until you feel a warm wisp. Jesus.
"Ah shit!" A holler comes from the next room and a bag, "fuck!"
The door swings inward and Candy flies out, feet scrambling with the force of her ejection. Lloyd sticks his foot out to trip her up and she crashes hard onto the floor. She grunts and heaves into a series of venomous cackles.
"What'sa matter shrimp dick? Can't take a punch?" She coughs out as her arm splays across the floor. She sits up with effort and it hangs without strength. The burly man with the mustache, you think they called him August, follows her out in a storm.
"How much for only two?" He snarls as Nick casually blocks him.
"Calm down," Nick pats his chest only to be swatted away, "thought you liked a challenge, big boy."
"Little bitch," he rubs his jaw. "Didn't know a bullet to the shoulder made you fucking dumb."
"Yeah, what's your excuse?" Candy sneers.
You keep your hand on Birdy and watch helplessly. Shit. This isn't the moment to be defiant. You need to recover. You need a plan. As much as you admire her courage, you need her to stay alive.
"Candy," you hiss under your breath, "please..."
"See?" August waves towards you brusquely, "the other two can fucking behave."
"Mmm, bit of a limp fish," Lloyd snickers.
Disgust roils through you at his comment. You're pissed at Birdy, she didn't listen, but it isn't her fault these men are fucked. Even if she hadn't said goodbye, you don't know whether they would've done the same.
Candy looks over her shoulder and lowers her head. She exhales and gets up on her knees, turning to face you. As she walks on her knees, August storms forward but his fit comes short of her back. Nick shoves him back and tuts.
"We already got damaged goods, alright? Those idiots in their spandex are gonna knock a few dollars off as it is."
"Wasn't me. Hansen's the one got trigger happy," August grumbles.
"Are you tryna finish the job?" Nick challenges.
You're distracted from their machinations as Candy approaches. She looks down at Birdy, her derision shadowed in the yellowed light. You frown and stare at her until she looks back at you. She softens and shrugs with one shoulder, wincing as she pulls her limp arm into her lap and cradles it.
"Again," Candy says. "Fucking again."
"We did it once..." you whisper.
"I fucking told you, Coco Bean," she rasps.
"Not right now," you chide. "Alright? We're all here, we all get it."
"She can lay and play broken bird all she wants. She's dead to me."
"Candy, she made a mistake--"
"She did more than that. You shoulda left her with Captain Fuckhead to begin with."
"Stop."
"I won't fucking stop," she hisses. "At least I'll get to see her reap what she sowed."
"That's not--"
"It's not fucking nice to sell out your friends," Candy snaps, "so fuck her right along with the jackasses."
Her voice rises and the others hush. The men look over at her and she sneers, "yeah, you fuckers."
"I swear to fuck," August curls his fingers to fists.
"Focus," Nick snaps his fingers. "We gotta get on the road."
You shake your head and Candy looks back at you. Not good. On the road... to them. You can't decide what's worse; them or the men they mean to sell you to.

“Hey Y/N. You weren’t at university or your dorm today. Is everything okay? I know you’ve been stressing about…well, a lot, really-” sigh “yeah, so basically, I’m worried about you.” nervous laughter “Cause like, your roommate, Tzuyu told me you were in your room at night, but then you weren’t there when I came to pick you up. I hope you hear this. Take care.”

“Y/N, it’s been three days. Everyone’s worried, especially me. I know you’ve talked about running away before, but…well, I didn’t think you were serious.” silence ”I hope you’re coming back soon, you know. Uni feels different and more empty without you. Take care.”

“A week. I’ve been a bit busy, but I haven’t forgotten you at all. Where are you? I think the police are still searching. They better be, you’re too precious to me to lose.” deep breath “Come back, Y/N. Come back. Everyone’s asking me where you are, and I don’t know and they keep reminding me that you’re gone and everything is haunting me and-” sigh “I’m rambling again. Take care.”

“Two weeks. You haven’t even seen my messages, let alone these voice notes, but they’re still delivered. Please, Y/N, this isn’t funny anymore- ignore the voice crack. No, I’m not crying. Like- I do care- um- about you…but I’m not crying. I miss you the most. I don’t have a study buddy now ever since you well…disappeared. Kinda falling behind on classes, but it’s fine. I’ll catch up.” weak giggle “Take care.”

“One month. Since you’re never going to hear these voice recordings, I might as well just say gibberish or odd confessions, hm?” weak laugh “They’ve given up. Your parents, the police…everyone, really. But I haven’t. I know you’re there – somewhere. I’ve been producing more songs to cope. You know how much I love doing that, I mean- it’s why I chose music as my major. Take care.”

“Two months. You know, today I passed by a wishing well. I threw a coin, and guess what I wished for? I wished you back, Y/N. Come back, please. I’m not requesting you at this point, I’m begging. Everything’s become worse without you, or at least that’s what Minho says. He’s a bit wild, so I’m not believing him. Where are you, mm? I’ll come there, and I’ll meet you – even rescue you if necessary!” faint hmph “I miss you. I miss you loads. Take care.”
❝𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩❞

“Five months. Since you don’t seem to have heard any of these, I guess I can really just say shit, huh? Well then, I love you. Like- you know- romantically.” nervous laugh “Yeah, cliche. Dumb move. Fuck, fuck, shouldn’t have done that- but it’s out and true- I guess. Ever since last year when we…ah, leave it. Take care.”
❝𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪❞
Tumblr media
“Eight months. I love you. I love you. I love you, Y/N. Please, I need you back. Everything’s so dark without you. You know that you’re my driving force, right? Right? I need you here desperately.” sniffle “Y/N. Y/N. Please. I don’t- I don’t know how I can do this anymore.” whimper “I can’t- can’t lose you. Take care.”
❝𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪❞
Tumblr media
“Ten months. Everything hurts. I don’t have the motivation to wake up in the morning, Y/N. Minho says that I’ve become thinner and paler. Other people are saying watered down versions of that. It all reminds me of you. I’m so tired, I don’t know why they suddenly care. Eh, whatever.” dull groan “Shit, I’m ranting again. Ignore it. Take care.”
❝𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚❞
Tumblr media
shaky breath “ Y/N, Y/N, please at least see my messages.” pained whimper “I can’t. I can’t. I need- need you. Badly. Fuck- I can’t bre-breathe.” rattling of pills in a bottle “I don’t want to live anymore. There’s no po-point.” quiet sob “You-You are my muse fo-for whatever I man…manage to…get out of my studio. I love you, I’ve loved you ever-ever since the day we drun-drunk made out.” sad giggle “Yeah, sounds cra-crazy, no?” swallowing sound, gulp “You’re coming back, right? Promise? You are, you are. I’m sure of it.” cursing under breath “Fuck, Minho’s here. Take care.”
❝𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪❞
Tumblr media
“Can’t move on from you. I love you too much. I love you, Y/N, and I wish I had the guts to have said it to your face when you were with me. Will you miss me? Maybe you won’t. It’s been a year after all. You’ve probably forgotten about me, about what we had, and frankly speaking? I don’t blame you.” silence “You’re still alive there though, I’m sure of it. Eat well, sleep soundly, drink water, do whatever makes you happy, even if others discourage you, and even if it’s the police, and remember to love yourself as much as I do. I love you from the sun to Pluto and back, note that.” dry laugh “I’ll always have you engraved in my memory. You’ll forever be my first and last thought. Take care.”
❝𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪❞
Tumblr media
“Hi Y/N. It’s me, Minho. I know I didn’t talk to you as much as Chan did-” annoyed sigh “I mean, he’s your bestie westie pookie wookie and all that shit, but like- I miss you too. There’s rumors about you being spotted around and you know that I don’t believe in a lot of gossip that goes throught the university grapevine – although I do love listening to it –” slight chuckle “I really want this rumor to be proven true. Make it happen, perform a miracle or something. You always disproved me in arguments, do it again.” silence “Chan, he…he’s in the hospital.” slightly muffled sob “I caught him overdosing on pills, which is what he was doing when he…when he sent you the tenth voice note. A month after that, he tried to kill himself, hence the eleventh one. That was like- three days ago. He’s still…still unconscious, but he’ll wake up soon, I hope. Come back Y/N. We all miss you, and Chan needs you. In his words, take care.”

to ask for your hand (I just pray that its mine) | Chapter 3 excerpt
After clinching his third career win at the Vegas GP, Carlos wakes up to a wedding band on his finger and his teammate, Charles, wearing the exact match.
WIP | 3/5 | 18,130 words | Accidental Drunk Marriage in Vegas AU | Fluff | Angst | Drama
‼️WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD‼️
“No! I will set the music,” Carlos argued, keeping Charles at arm's length so he could scroll through Spotify, looking for the perfect song for their first dance as newlyweds. They were in his suite’s living room, just the two of them. Lando and Pierre already back in their own hotel rooms, shit-faced drunk.
“I think I will choose a better music, please.” Charles plead.
“Ah, so you think you have better taste than me.”
“I definitely have better taste than you. I play the piano.”
“And my theme song is Smooth Operator. The best song ever.”
Charles laughed. “That doesn’t make any sense.”
Carlos laughed along. “Yours does not make sense either.”
“Baby, come on, please. I want to pick our song.”
Carlos considered it for a moment. “Okay, but no sad music. I know you.”
“I’ll choose something nice, I promise.”
“And you won’t argue with me when I teach you how to dance,” Carlos added.
Charles nose scrunched ever so slightly. “You make it seem like I’m so bad at dancing.”
“You are. I can already feel you stepping on my toes. So, do you agree or no?”
“Okay. I won't argue.”
Carlos handed Charles the phone, a pleasant ache settling in Carlos’ chest as he watched Charles excitedly pick their song. After a moment of scrolling, the soft strums of guitar filled the room. Lover of Mine by John Vincent III, the screen showed.
“Okay, Professor Sainz, show me how to dance.” Charles stood stiff, hands on his sides like a soldier.
“Professor Sainz-Leclerc,” Carlos corrected, emphasising on Leclerc.
Charles giggled. “Oh, I’m sorry, Professor Sainz-Leclerc.”
“Corretto! Such a good student. Now, let’s see how you do. So, first, you go like this,” he took one of Charles’ hands and placed it on his shoulder, resting his own on Charles' hips. “Then, give me your other hand.” Their hands aligned, palms open. Their fingers interlaced with each other, fitting together as seamlessly like two pieces of a puzzle. Charles' hands were cold, just like the gold of his ring, glinting under the light. Carlos remembered the words etched underneath: Finchè no ci separi. ‘Till death do us part.
Carlos continued, “And then—watch my feet—you move like, ta, ta, ta, ta and ta, ta, ta, ta. Simple.” He moved his feet just like how Mama taught her.
“Ohhh, Easy! I got this,” Charles said, mimicking Carlos’ movement, focusing on his feet. It went well the first few steps before he managed to step on Carlos' toe. Charles’ head shot up, wide eyes, lips pursed and dimples out—guilty as a deer caught in the headlights. He burst into a fit of giggles—music to Carlos’ ears—his head instinctively falling on Carlos’ shoulder, making him stumble a little.
It would've made Carlos’ heart flutter if he wasn't trying to stomach the pain. “You got this, you say,” he chided.
“I’m sorry. I swear, I won’t do it again,” he promised, looking back at his feet to make another attempt.
“Uhuh, you say, but then you’ll step on my— Agh!” Charles stepped on his toes again, as predicted. “Now you’re just doing it on purpose.”
“No, I promise, I’m not. I thought I got this.” He was still giggling. “Show me again, please. I want to get it right.”
“You have to move together with me, just follow my steps.”
"Okay. Together," Charles repeated, shuffling his feet, trying to get it right. "So, we either move together or nothing.”
“That’s right. Together or nothing.”
Carlos showed him again. And again. And again. Until Charles stopped stepping on his toes, until he finally found the rhythm, until they were actually dancing, swaying slowly around the room. Just the two of them in each other's arms, hands intertwined, together in their own world.

WIP Wednesday Game
It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write at least 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.
My only problem is that I tend to file name what the title is so I can find it easier, so...here’s what they were called before I titled them.
“File” Names
Sugar B@by/Sugar D@ddy AU (I don't usually censor shit, but tumblr hates me)
Boy w/a Bat
Metal Band AU
Snippet
It's not from a WIP because I finished it yesterday, but I'm proud of it, so: Season 1 AU
“You want to put your money where your mouth is punk?!” Larry shouted, trying to get out of his restraints.
Steve looked him up and down. “You’re on. One on one in the outdoor basketball court. First one to twenty points wins. We need an unbiased ref...” he looked around until he found a black sophomore standing off the side. “You, you tried out for JV this year, right?”
The kid pointed to himself and looked around but Steve nodded. “Yeah, I mean, I didn’t make it, but yeah I play.”
Steve turned to Larry. “That okay with you?”
Larry nodded. “If I win, you quit the team and stop this fucking crusade you’re on.”
The crowd oohed and ahhed.
“And if I win,” Steve said with a knowing smirk, “you stepped down as captain and make me captain instead. And if you lay a single finger on anyone again, and you know what I mean, I’ll be sure to spill every dirty secret you ever uttered in the locker room. Don’t think that I won’t.”
Larry gulped heavily. The sound loud in the now dead silent hallway.
Steve stuck out his hand and Larry eyed it for a moment. He looked up into Steve’s steely gaze, then at the gathered crowd. He shook the offered hand and pumped it once.
“Saturday 10am,” Steve said with a grin. Larry nodded and Steve walked over to the kid who was going to be their ref and slung an arm around his shoulder. “Hey, kid, what’s your name?”
“Patrick,” the kid mumbled shyly.
****
It's that great and wonderful time of the week again! WIP Wednesday!
We are sadly back to our regularly scheduled programing of just one day this week.
The game runs from 8am-11pm EST.
Send in as many asks as you want as often as you want.
