“I’m fine.” That’s right. She was refusing the coat -- refusing to cover up. Her nudity was a statement. The messages painted upon her body representative of the slander women went through when they embraced their sexuality and stopped conforming to the sexist standards put upon them by society.

“And I thought I asked them to call dad.” In fact, she knew she asked them to call her father. The number she gave them had been Anakin’s mobile. Which means that someone on the force was a rat. And quite possibly in her mother’s pocket...metaphorically speaking. As she doubted her mother would ever actually pay someone off. But it was possible they owed her a favor.

Rey thought just one of these would have been extravagant but both just made the biggest and dumbest smile come to her lips. Her fingers lightly moved across the box that contained the laptop a moment.

“Padme… you didn’t have to do this.” Her old laptop was a dying thing on it’s last leg pieced together from junk that Rey had been lucky to find from scrapped ones. And to top it off there were tickets to an amusement park, something as a kid she had never gotten to do.

Rey moved and pulled the other into a hug.

“Thank you.”

Rey was positively determined to make a cake for Poppy’s birthday.  She was only ten and didn’t know how to bake, but she was going to do this, damnit!

So perhaps it was best that one of her other grandparents decided that she also wanted to bake a cake, and walked in before Rey managed to make too much of a mess.

“Grandmama!  Want to help me bake a cake?” the little girl asked cheerfully.

“Sorry.” She hadn’t meant to yell. Not really. It was just...her hunger had come out of nowhere. One moment she was fine, going about her business and trying to figure out what Poe and everyone else she knew was up to and the next she was like...eating someone’s arm level of starving. Waffles, it just so happened, had been the first thing to pop into her mind. 

Cause who didn’t love waffles? With their little taste pockets. And she wondered if her grandmother had any whipped cream. Cause waffles needed whipped cream.

However, before she could ask, her grandmother voiced a question of her own. One that turned Breha pale. “What? Yeah. I’m fine. Why?”

She was pregnant, but so far nobody knew that, Nobody aside from Poe and Benny. And Poe’s brother, Finn.

Talking to @aggressivcnegotiations has given me thoughts about Leia and her relationship with her mother. Just a few but still...

Leia goes into politics because of Padme. There was so much good Padme wanted to do and her stroke prevented that. As Leia grows up and grows out of her ‘rage at the patriarchy’ phase, she sees that there are other ways to make a difference. Ways that were once her mother’s. This leads her to follow in Padme’s footsteps, furthering her original agendas.

Leia and her mom had problems for a while. Because of the divorce, because of Leia’s activism, because mothers and teenage daughters all seem to go through a rough patch. They eventually get over it but for a while it was best to run the other way when the two of them got started.

Leia wasn’t there when the stroke happened. She was supposed to go to the party with her mom and Luke but as she was still sore over their fight a couple of days prior, she remained at home (with her dad). Therefor it was Luke who called Anakin and Anakin who told Leia what had happened.

After he first moved out, a small part of Anakin did blame Padme for their divorce; it took time and some growing up to realize the mistakes he had made had been just as much to blame.

He kept his wedding ring on a chain in the drawer beside his bed; he couldn’t bring himself to sell or pawn it. 

The night he got the call from Luke that she’d had the stroke was the most terrifying night of his life. 

(Once he gave himself up to the Force, Anakin’s spent time working to come to terms with everything he had done with the help of his former masters. The two things he’s never forgiven himself for are the deaths of the younglings in the temple and inadvertently killing the woman he loved)

(His grandmother is one of the few people Ben feels he can talk to. 

He loves his grandmother’s taste in music.

He appreciates that she encourages him to not take things so seriously and unwind a little. 

When his grandmother comes to visit, he finds it easier to ignore the call of the Dark Side and the Supreme Leader.)
