If you’d be down,,,,,,,,,,maybe some slow burn Muriel x Julian headcanons? (Julian being very head over heels for this big boi while Muriel inside is like “Oh GOD I can’t believe I’m liking this idiot”

Yes. Absolutely.

Sorry this is going to be long as hell because I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS!!!!

So at the start, they probably wouldn’t spend very much time together or even interact at all. It’s very unlikely for them to run into each other in the city since Muriel stays out in the forest most of the time. And even if they did see each other randomly in the city, Julian wouldn’t remember Muriel once they parted ways.

BUT Asra goes to the hut to visit and check up on Muriel every so often, so they would probably meet (or re-meet I guess) through him.

So what ends up happening is that one day Asra comes in to see that Muriel is very sick to the point where he can barely walk around without feeling faint. And since he lives all alone in the wilderness and still has to fend for himself, he hasn’t had time to rest and recover so he’s steadily been getting worse.

Asra would know that Julian could help him, but it would take a lot of convincing for Muriel to let Julian come out to the hut since: 1) Muriel would think that a doctor would be unnecessary since he’s no doubt dealt with afflictions like this alone before, and 2) he does not like Julian very much (for the time being) and would not trust him. Not to mention his need to isolate himself in general.

But Asra is deeply concerned for him and would insist, so eventually Muriel would very reluctantly agree to let Julian come out to examine him.

Julian would of course immediately agree to go help Muriel despite the strange circumstances, because he’s just Like That.

Upon arrival to the hut Julian would be in full Doctor Mode, none of his over-the-top flare or forwardness. Just all calm reassuring smiles, spectacular bedside manner and the utmost care. All while Muriel would initially be quite cold and perhaps even uncooperative with him.

Muriel would eventually begin to feel slightly less tense, but he would still feel quite nervous and be very fidgety from all of the close contact. (Bonus: Julian checking Muriel’s heart rate and stethoscopes are not a thing yet, so he has to put an ear to his chest.)

At the end of the checkup Julian would give Muriel some herbal remedies (since the leeches would be a hard “No”), advise him to rest whenever he could and would ask him if it was alright if he could come back tomorrow for a follow up.  

Muriel would need a few moments to consider but eventually he would get a small wrapped bundle of myrrh, hand it to Julian - with flushed cheeks while absolutely refusing to look him in the eye - and vaguely tell him about his curse and to not forget the myrrh when he comes back.

On the way back to the city, Julian’s professional composure would fall away as he considered his admittedly very handsome patient. But he would try and bury any notions of anything more than a doctor/patient relationship.

Meanwhile in the hut Muriel would be stubbornly trying to remind himself of his distaste for Julian.

Over the next couple of weeks, Julian would come out to the hut to check on Muriel as his health steadily improved. The visits would slowly get longer and longer since Julian would notice all the work Muriel has to put into maintaining his home and would insist on trying to help.

Muriel would be resistant to the idea since he’s not used to being taken care of, especially not to this capacity. But he’s secretly happy to have more reasons for Julian to stick around so he gives in after some time.

Julian would have Muriel rest while he did things like fetch water for him, gather firewood, feed the chickens and other such chores. If he had to do something a bit more heavy-handed like fix the ceiling he would definitely try, but he would probably bust his ass a couple times in the process. He’d always pick himself up right away though because there’s no way in hell he was about to let Muriel worry about him especially when Muriel was the one who needed taken care of. He’d run himself absolutely ragged some days but again he’d never let it show.

The more time Julian spends there, the more the two to them start to talk more casually. Julian does most of the talking but Muriel quietly enjoys listening to him talk about his travels since he’s never gotten to do anything like that himself. Even when Julian starts to show more of his usual dramatic, over-the-top mannerisms as they grow closer, Muriel may roll his eyes but he’s usually smiling at least a little.

One day Muriel has regained his health to the point where he no longer needs Julian to come take care of him. Julian is happy for him, but he is more deeply disappointed than he thought he would be. Muriel is also quietly sad that he won’t have Julian around anymore, but neither of them can bring themselves to say anything about it.

Days and even weeks after Julian’s last visit they both start to miss each other terribly. For Muriel it would take him a while to admit it even to himself. He’d figure that he’s used to being alone, so he could get used to it again. But Julian is always somewhere in the back of his mind.

For Julian he’d seem like his usual self to most people whenever he went for a night out at the Rowdy Raven or something, but when he’s alone at home he’d hold the myrrh Muriel gave him in his hand and think about how fond he had grown of the gruff but still sweet hermit, and how much he would like to see him again.

After lots of overthinking, pacing and muttering to himself for several nights, Julian would finally suck it up and go back to see Muriel with an offering of tea (sort of like in Heart Hunter).

Muriel is completely floored to see Julian again since he probably would have just assumed that Julian got rid of the myrrh after their last visit, and wouldn’t know how to respond other than asking him incredulously what he was doing there.

Julian would do a good enough job at being smooth and explaining that he just wanted to come by for a friendly visit, but he would be freaking the hell out internally and praying that Muriel wouldn’t just tell him to leave.

After a few tense, silent moments Muriel would invite him in while blushing down to his shoulders. And even if neither of them would say it outright then, they’d both be extremely happy to see each other again.

The visits would start up again, but they would both be more relaxed with each other this time around after a brief reacquainting period. Every so often Julian would coax Muriel into coming to other places in Vesuvia with him, definitely not anywhere as hectic as the Rowdy Raven but calmer places that he thinks Muriel would enjoy. Julian would still find some ways to embarrass Muriel in public sometimes - especially since Muriel is still acclimating to being out in public at all - but they would always be alright after some time to cool off afterwards.

The two of them open up more and more with each visit, and their conversations would become more sentimental and heartfelt.

Julian is head over heels within a matter of weeks and would have a very hard time hiding it since this boy is SO obvious when he’s smitten. He’s so pale that you can see him blush from a mile away and he babbles somehow even more than he usually does. But he is convinced that Muriel doesn’t feel the same way about him so he would hold it in (as much as he can).

Muriel would come to his own realization much later, probably during a time when it’s been a few days since’s Julian’s last visit and he misses him dearly. It would suddenly click for him that he was developing feelings for Julian and he would  basically be in perpetual state of “Oh no…” all day afterwards.

Though their feelings would go unrequited for months, they would eventually trust each other enough to share both the brightest and darkest parts of their lives. Julian would tell Muriel about all of his regrets, self destruction and self doubt, and Muriel would tell Julian about his past trauma and the need to isolate himself. It would be extremely emotional for the both of them and plenty of tears would be shed between the two of them.

They would then start to confide in each other on rough days, and subtly show more physical affection to one another. They would sit closer together, place their hands on top of one another’s and they would start to hold hands especially when walking through more crowded areas.

Julian would be the one to initiate their first kiss. It would come to a point where he’s wanted it for so long that he can no longer keep quiet about it anymore. But no matter how desperate or touch starved he would be, he would still ask Muriel before he actually did anything.

Muriel would be stunned by the question, his heart pounding hard in his chest and his face flushed deep red. But he would say yes and lean in for the kiss.

When their lips parted, all of Julian’s feelings would come flooding out. He would tell Muriel how happy he makes him, how much he values him, how much he enjoys his company…

Muriel would get overwhelmed by it all pretty quickly and gently cover Julian’s mouth with his huge hand while blushing hard. After a moment he’d let his hand fall away and mumble to Julian that he talks too much before kissing him again.

Ok second half of this; this is just like. non-students who i Actually have thought about HJBAFV not at all a comprehensive list. Again disclaimer i write all these chars as bi in my fics, also i am bi myself so the vast majority are also bi, and also leaving a lot of these vague so u can imagine ur favorite ship or urself or w/ever

ok lets start this off with Aizawa. I think....... hes another one who's rlly unlabelled, doesnt super care to think it through and define it, but calls himself gay bc his interest in women is very, very rare and it's just way easier to say than explain all that. Definitely do buy into the idea that he had a crush on Oboro in hs but i do NOT buy into the easermic agenda sorry. Definitely not someone who goes looking for dates, but doesn't say no if someone asks him and hes interested (also im not gonna give her a whole section but i saw a hc a while back that the Ms. Joke stuff is literally that shes a lesbian and hes gay and shes fucking with him and i love that so much i just wanted to put it out there)

on the topic of the erasermic agenda: Hizashi's pan and knew it before HS, had a sudden & intense crush on Aizawa for the first month they knew each other and then immediately got over it in favor of a similar sudden, intense, and then immediately fading crush on Midnight. Hizashi and Aizawa r just rlly good friends imo; maybe they messed around for a bit in their twenties but it never went anywhere serious. He dates around a lot, not even necessarily to settle down just to have some fun

Midnight is aro/ace but does get in qprs & gravitates towards women wrt that. Most people dont read vigilantes but theres a woman in that, Kazuho, who i imagine she's been in a long-term qpr with; her relationship with aizawa and hizashi leans a little more towards a qpr than a normal friendship, too, but it's not rlly defined that way

All Might is married to justice queer but v much not interested in relationships. He and that one guy from the first movie are ABSOLUTELY exes and i won't hear otherwise; it's the only relationship he's ever had, and they broke up bc he had to go back to japan. He was heartbroken but did eventually get over him; his lack of romance afterwards is from genuine disinterest and not being hung up on his past. I can see him finding someone else in his later years, after he's retired. Definitely feels like he's not worthy of it tho

Hawks is bi but unfortunately didn't get to figure that out until like Now in the timeline...... if youll let my dabihawks history shine through i think dabi was the reason JHBASFGJHB he was basically brainwashed by the commission to become a hero so he didnt have time to Figure That Shit Out; he knew he was into women bc that was easy & what the commission expected from him but then he started this undercover assignment and met dabi and realized Oh...... Fuck. Hawks is hard tbh, bc i think between the control that the commission has over him and his own convictions as a hero he doesn't pursue any romance (tho he does get crushes or find people attractive) and most of his flings are done to keep up his prettyboy act, not out of genuine interest in being a fuckboy. Can't imagine him having a relationship until well after canon but I do see him being interested eventually

Onto the villains, Shigaraki is unlabelled but probably would call himself queer if asked. Definitely admires women more but isn't very interested in romance; AFO actively encourages him to pursue the things interested in so imo if he were he'd talk abt it more lmfao. I kinda see him as demi as well, not the type to fall immediately but requiring a friendship beforehand; tho unlike Bakugo as i said in my last post I dont think it happens suddenly but rather slowly. Y'all know im a big fan of shigaraki being absolutely whipped for his s/o so i do thing hes a big piner, tho he's also pretty bold and unashamed of his affections. I'm a big fan of him falling for a member of the league or a civilian; definitely can't see him falling for a hero unless the hero was already halfway to turning sides already. I think he's also attracted to intelligence and someone who pushes him to think more abt his ideology...... maybe im just projecting at this point JSHDFBVAJKSHD but my point is that the gender of his partner is definitely the least of what he considers/notices

Dabi is bi and, here's my bold take, demisexual; not interested in sex unless its with someone he loves. Absolutely doesn't even think abt romance for most of the years where he's on his own. He's got revenge to plan. By the time he joins the league that hasn't changed much, and he's demi so he's not interested in sleeping around, plus he rlly denies any attachment to people at all. As I said in that other ask tho I do rlly like the idea of him with Magne, so I think they have a fling for a bit before her death :( it's one of the things that leads him to isolate himself further, unfortunately, even from Jin and the other League members with whom his relationships aren't romantic. I can see him dating someone post-canon bc i think hes gonna be redeemed lol. It could be someone he knew before but they probably didnt date again bc he was v guarded; i think magne was rlly the only person he dated

Magne is pan and heres the kicker: I think shes t4t, which led to a little moment just before she and dabi got together where he was like "she wouldnt be into me :/" but she was into him anyway so all was good. She got around in her circles, mostly casual stuff tho she yearned for something more serious.

Spinner's bi & trends towards women but does occasionally get things for men and they're almost always intense. He thought he was straight for a while even once he joined the league and then suddenly got a crush on Shigaraki (around the time of MVA) and realized otherwise LMFAO he's definitely a hopeless romantic type, the whole mutant prejudice thing makes it rlly hard for him and i can see him being rlly happy with another mutant-type; i feel like as he matures he starts to gravitate towards them

Toga is canonically pan to my understanding, iirc her interest in Uraraka and Deku is the same (and romantic) in canon tho i might be wrong. Poor girl just needs therapy. I like the idea of the two of them becoming her friends over her being involved with them but i totally can get behind her having a thing with Uraraka (and maybe Tsu) at some point post-canon (presuming she gets redeemed), tho I think a qpr between the two/three of them would be longer lasting. And again presuming she gets therapy i can see her settling down with someone, gender irrelevant

Jin is unlabelled bc he hasn't much thought abt it, definitely had a thing for dabi and for hawks which does make me sad on both counts. I think he likes women slightly more abstractly/aesthetically and gets crushes more on men,. The dabi thing fades as they get closer and start to view each other as brothers. In his later years he doesn't rlly care about romance, I think he enjoys the experience of crushing but doesnt like dating people; his found family in the League is far more important to him. But i can see him falling head-over-heels for someone quite suddenly and having a bit of a whirlwind romance. Also someone for whom gender isn't much of a factor

Mr Compress is also queer and also hasn't rlly thought abt it. Definitely leans more towards women; he's like 30 but i like to think he also goes for older partners, 10 or 15 years his senior KJBADSJFHB idk he just has that Vibe with the way he calls himself an old man etc. A lot of the league i cant see sleeping or dating around much, i feel like they prioritize each other, but I do think mr compress gets around more than the others. i can see him having a bit of a fuckbuddy who he catches feelings for

Kurogiri is fun; as Oboro I do think Aizawa's crush was reciprocated, tho he wasn't around long enough for them to act on it :( he's bi, tho kurogiri isn't supposed to have personal interests. I like to imagine the brainwashing isnt as good as AFO wants it to be tho so I like the idea of him falling for someone anyway. I also like the idea of the heroes managing to undo the nomufication and I 100% can see him, aizawa, and someone else (someone he was involved with as Kurogiri) ending up in a triad as a result of aizawa and the third partner helping him through the aftermath of all that shit

Lady Nagant is a manga-only minor character but im in love with her so imma talk abt it. Shes bi and leans VERY heavily towards women, probably spent years questioning whether she was rlly bi or a lesbian before finally having a fling with a guy that she genuinely enjoyed. Has only ever been in long-term relationships with women and I v much think she has a gf at home who stayed even when she was arrested 🥺

Finally imma talk abt Natsuo bc i love that boy. He's one of the few unmarried chars with a love interest and he canonically has a gf. I do see him as IDing straight in canon ngl, but the kind of straight where he might actually be bi but his preference leans so heavily towards women and he grew up in a bad home so he just doesnt rlly think abt it bc hes v happy with women anyway. In shiganatsu thoughts shigaraki is the first man he has a thing for; i rlly can see the two of them in a triad with a woman specifically, who helps the two of them find each other and is the one who initiates bc its definitely a weird situation for natsuo

Corn’s headcanons under the cut! (One is NSFW so just a warning)

- I’ve always found this interesting, but there doesn’t seem to be modern technology in the Sakamaki mansion. The only thing modern I’ve seen in any DL scene was probably Kino’s phone in Lost Eden and in some Tokutens. Considering Laito is a dork and loves crossword puzzles and plays darts and billiards, I love to imagine that he doesn’t know how to work around modern technology. Sure he’s smart as hell but I just love thinking about him being a boomer when it comes to that stuff hgalsdkjf 

- Idk if this is counts as a (crack) headcanon or not, but you’d have to be really careful to bring Laito on a picnic date or something. It would be really cute, but he doesn’t like bugs. But man I find his fear of bugs kinda cute not gonna lie hehe.

- I believe I have mentioned that I have a headcanon that he’d be a theater kid. Another anon also mentioned this a while back too, and I freaking LOVE that idea oh my god; here’s the original post developing on that too!

- Kinda another crack headcanon but we know Laito isn’t afraid of feminine things like he straight up has an entire closet of women’s clothing; I don’t think he clarified if it’s for himself or his partners _(:3 」∠)_ but he wore the Alice costume,,,, so I also think he has other ““feminine”” interests. Like I really wanna see him read Shoujo manga. I don’t think that would be ooc at all imo LOL

- Laito and Kou can do makeup; Kou more than Laito, but again. Laito has a cosplay/roleplay closet. Come on. We know he goes full into stuff.

- Which again all of this supports the Laito being a theater kid headcanon LOL! I also think he’d try to dress up Ayato (and maybe Kanato?) when they were kids aakdjsdjj

- I guess this is another crack headcanon cuz I love Laito’s dorky nature but I think he full on has a dictionary in his room somewhere for crossword puzzles when he can’t think of a word, just in case.

- I wanna think that he was already was afraid of spiders when he was a kid but it got worse when Ayato kept pranking him with bugs or telling Laito horror stories related to bugs lol

- As for the NSFW side of things that I haven’t seen mentioned before; I think he’s into some form of somnophilia akdkskjdsj but again he likes it when they resist. But kinda like a spider, his “prey” would wake up in the middle of whatever he was doing to them and he’d get his high off of them resisting then when it’s too late oops. However I don’t rly think of NSFW hcs too often

- I feel like some of the new girls (or maybe some boys heh) at school initially had a crush on him but then was deterred by other girls who were like “no don’t” (LOL now that I realize it, similar shit happened in college; I was one of the girls who was warning the freshmen)

- going off of that I think he (and probably every other diaboy going to that school) has a secret fan club. Kou’s is obviously the biggest but I definitely think there’s a group of girls (and maybe a boy or two) that don’t heed the Laito warnings. Maybe they put little letters in his locker or something. Regardless he’d know who they are after a short period of time. Would he do something? Probably not, he could get caught if he made any of them his actual vampire shenanigans victim. But subtlety tease them??? Maybe some more??? Oh you fuckin bet.

- After his first wave of feeling his true emotions (like in MB ecstasy) he didn’t know how to truly express them. So I think he’d definitely play the piano a lot afterwards. Is it a distraction or expressing himself? Or both? And did I get inspired by the DL fic, “The Days That’ll Never Come?” Yes. Yes I did. I also think that he writes his own songs. Some with lyrics, some without, but man, I think he could freeform like a mad lad. Since song lyrics are pretty much poetry, I think he has some poems lying around here and there. But poor thing doesn’t know how to properly take care of himself emotionally ;(

-This was confirmed in one of those 4 Koma manga for More,More Blood, but it came to no surprise that Laito went through stuff in the attic for blackmail on all his brothers lmaoooooo what a fucking troll I love this man. Going off of that he’d definitely pull pranks with Ayato. And some on Ayato lol.

- basically yeah I view Laito as a deep, artistic, internally depressed dork. Sure he’s into some sexual stuff obviously but I like talking about how he’s like/how he might be like when there’s not a sacrifice in the house :) I love talking about his dorky side too much tho omg

the vast majority, actually. Like, this was a fantastic trip down memory lane, I’d forgotten how many of these I had written and I’m quite fond of the majority. both titles and writing quality.

2. How many are…not great?

the minority, I think. Looking at them, I think the only ones i’m not happy with are A Long Week Ahead and A Fear Unfounded but in terms of writing quality. the former suffers more because I’m not satisfied with that title but idk what else I’d call it except “A Porn Parody for People Who Hate The Father/Daughter Dynamic People Have Weirdly Thrust On These Two Characters”

3. How many did you scramble for at the last minute?

I think it’s like. An even split. Some of these were named within the hour of posting. 

4. How many did you know before you started writing/creating, or near the beginning?

just under half of them maybe. like 9 or 10 maybe.

5. How many are quotes from songs or poems?

Cheri Piers is a shoutout to Warrant’s Cherry Pie and I do recommend it for listening when reading that fic, as well as songs by The Cramps since I hc Piers as having a voice like Lux, the main singer of The Cramps. but yeah, all the others came from my head/aren’t a shoutout to a song or poem or anything.

6. How many are other quotes?

Justice Bitch is a reference to something a flamingo said to Michiru in BNA, if that counts. Eureka, again, similarly, it’s a bingo meme for a card game show about hackers so I thought it was fitting. Flower Power, I guess, should count since its name is lifted from the hippie dippy slogan from the 60′s. I might even put Pushing Roses and Scorched Sand in this category as well since the former is a reference to the tv show (I haven’t seen) Pushing Daisies and the latter is just straight up the same title of the video game level its based on.

7. Which best reflects the plot of the story/content of the fanwork?

AtsuKyou Week Ficlets is exactly what it says on the tin lol. Same for Pet Names and Pretty Short! Star Twinkle Collection and even Mama and Papa’s Lullaby. Debatably Cheri Piers as well. A lot of very literal titles in this grab bag, but there’s also a lot of non-indicative, poetic titles as well.

poor Stupid Boys Like Stupid Girls because it kind of has the inverse. its a title which does reflect the plot/content of the fic but not exactly since the fic itself devotes more to the themes of poison vs antidote rather than the supposed stupidity of either Daruizen or Nodoka but I came up the title first on that one so its kinda relic which stuck

8. Which best reflects the theme of the story?

When the fields were razed - its poetic, even has what I consider a romantic lilt to it but it also invokes violence and that’s exactly what a retelling of The Rape of Persephone should invoke, at least in my books. It also alludes to Eirika’s role as the Goddess of Eternal Springtime, I think.

9. Which best reflects the character voice of the story/pov of the fanwork?

mmmmmnot satisfied with this answer but probably Mama and Papa’s Lullaby since I can’t imagine Annette being called “mum/mom” or “mother”. I can maybe see Felix being called “dad” but hm, not really so I think it does well to position them as parents to their little one.

10. Which is your favourite title?

I would like to officially given The silver spoils of dawn this award since it almost got mentioned above (at number 8) but I gave it to my Eirika/Valter fic instead. I just feel like this title flows off the tongue, very sonically satisfying and its a little bit non-indicative since I never use that line in the fic but it refers to both Sothe and Micaiah and how Sothe deserves to be pampered haha

but if you use title in a different sense, I might give Nice Things the shoutout. Poor title but its just from my pseudo/quasi series “asmr: nice things happen to spectre” where i just. do that. write about nice things happening to spectre with a lil bit whump and hurt/comfort on the side and i get to write spectre as a lil gross and rather self indulgent so its just got a very special place in my heart for a combination of all these reasons regarding content, itself, rather than just the title
