CHRISTOPHER MARTIN’S ALBUM, AND THEN, TO BE RELEASED MAY 3RD ON VP RECORDS ALBUM CELEBRATED WITH LIVE TV SPECIAL, WATCH PARTIES AND MORE
Following the release of his single “Life”, VP Records is proud to announce that Christopher Martin’s album And Then will be released this Friday, May 3rd. In his sophomore offering, Christopher Martin presents a well-rounded mix of ballads and up-tempo jams, showcasing his musical versatility and growth with a celebration centered around themes of love, rising above hardship and finding the good in every situation. And Then is the follow up to Martin’s debut full length-album, “Big Deal”, which reached the top 5 on the Reggae Billboard Charts in 2017.
To celebrate the album release, a variety of events will be held in Jamaica and the U.S. On the albums release day, Christopher Martin will be at TVJ Studios for a live performance and interview which will be broadcasted on RETV, VP Records YouTube Channel at 7pm JA time/ 8pm EST and will be rebroadcasted on TVJ at a later time. The event can also be seen at two watch parties in Florida and Philadelphia (details below) and heard on Fame FM Jamaica, Reggae King Radio, Vibes FM in London and Irie Jam in New York (more stations to be announced). This TV Special is the second in the VP Records Live Series which launched in January with Strictly the Best Live from Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records in Montego Bay. The program was a huge success and reached many people globally. Next up will be Soca Gold Live in June. Christopher Martin will then head to New York, where he will celebrate with a album release party. More details to be announced. Singles off the album include “Bun Fi Bun,”, “Can’t Dweet Again,” “Come Back” and most recently “Life.” The album also features a standout cover of Mr. Big’s 1991 definitive track, “To Be With You.” Martin’s re-imagining of the love song is a sweet homage, delivering new meaning to the chart-topping single without losing sight of his powerful ability to connect with audiences across the globe and showcase his versatility as an artist not confined to one solitary genre.
With the launch of his second album, Chris was determined to give back and help raise the goals and expectations of youthful fans at home and abroad. In doing so, he teamed with the The Kulture Movement on the #NoDisrespect Campaign, which aims to educate the youth on behaviors that garner respect without resorting to violence. Shani Kulture of Hot 97.1 spearheaded the campaign with his partner Roxie Digital of Hot 103.9 FM and tapped Martin for the “School Tour,” in which workshops and activities with the kids are done to spread the message of positivity and self-worth. In addition to the campaign, Martin expanded his philanthropic efforts by supporting the American Foundation for The University of the West Indies (AFUWI)’s mission of raising funds and providing scholarships for needy students at UWI’s 4 campuses in 17 countries, by performing at their 2019 Legacy Awards gala held in February.
Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, the now 32-year-old first established himself as an emerging talent following winning Jamaica’s top televised talent show “Digicel Rising Stars” in 2005. Shortly after, Martin went on to navigate his undeniably destined career in music with an eagerness and dedication to establishing his own forward-thinking sound. As exemplified through his energetic live performances and feel-good lyricism, his characteristic positivity is as genuine as it is memorable, allowing him to organically make a name for himself on the beloved island and connect with audiences that stretch far beyond his backyard in the Caribbean. “And Then is a body of work I am very proud of and it comes at a time where I am embarking into a new chapter,” Martin states. “I have a newly born son and new music at the same time and that is a very special thing.”

Please Help Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean
Hi everyone- to take a break from my shitposts and regular content, I wanted to shed some light on the many different organizations that one can donate to if you want to help out those affected by the natural disasters that have been happening in the western hemisphere. I wish to make a post to help those in Asia who are suffering as well once I do more research for reliable charities. Below will be a list of charities providing funds for the affected areas and I suggest checking with your local college/uni as many have been setting up donation boxes for PR as they are in desperate need of water, non-perishable food, diapers, etc.
For all 3 affected areas,
UNICEF has provided help for children around the world, and right now there are thousands of children in dire need of food, water, and help rebuilding their homes after the recent natural disasters. Please go to the website or text RELIEF to 864233 to make a $10 donation
DirectRelief allows you to either donated to the areas most needed or to a location of your preference (Harvey victims, Irma victims, Puerto Rico/Maria victims, and Mexico)
Bonus- if you like the song Mi Gente, Beyonce released a remix in which all of her proceeds will be donated to the affected areas
For the victims in Mexico,
The Topos (moles in English) are a dedicated & trained group of volunteers who help rescue those in danger. They’ve helped several countries in the past when faced with similar situations, including my country Peru when it was hit with an 8.0 magnitude earthquake in 2007.
Fondo Unido (United Fund) is Mexico’s charity for natural disasters where they not only help earthquake victims but also those of hurricanes Lidia and Katia that made landfall earlier this month.
For the victims in Puerto Rico,
Ricky Martin’s YouCaring fundraiser has reached 74% of its $2,000,000 goal, all proceeds go directly to the people of PR
Somos Una Voz (We Are One Voice) is an alliance of celebrities who have come together to donate food, shelter, medicine, and power to Puerto Rico
United for Puerto Rico, an emergency fund created by PR’s first lady Beatriz Rosselló, is a great direct way to donate to the island
For the victims in the Caribbean,
Tim Duncan’s Relief Fund is a YouCaring that directs its help to the U.S Virgin Islands that is a bit over halfway through to its $5,000,000 goal
American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI) is a hurricane relief fund to help the Caribbean based in NY that aims to help the victims that endured both Irma and Maria
I will be updating this list as I receive more information on the charities, please donate and/or share to spread awareness and help those in need!

Support Relief Efforts♡
As many of you know I have been very much emotional by the recent Hurricanes that have impacted the Caribbean Islands. I have been traveling to Puerto Rico for the last couple of years every six months or sometimes even every three months. That's how much I love that island.
As far as Mexico goes, I am Mexican American. My parents are from Guerrero Mexico. I have been fortunate to be blessed to live in California and travel to both beautiful countries. So obviously what has been currently happening in both countries have hit home to my heart.
I was in Puerto Rico on one of the last flights out of the island in September 6th before Hurricane Irma passed and missed the island, which made me soo happy the island didn't get effected. But then Hurricane Maria passed through and destroyed the island. What frustrates me is the US Government not aiding much. It also frustrates me that airlines are charging soo much for people to leave the island of Puerto Rico. It literally has left me in tears, because it is infuriating.
I do hope you find compassion to help aid these places affected by the recent Hurricanes and Earthquakes to donate event the smallest amounts matter, or sharing on social media the different organizations aiding in relief to all locations affected.
Honestly even just Donating a Dollar does matter ! it has a ripple effect of helping buy just one more water for someone who hasn't had access to water. everything counts!
There are many ways to help. I have listed a few organizations that are on the ground from Mexico to the Caribbean, lending a hand to those who need it most.
To help those in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricane Maria:
Somos Una Voz
You Caring (Ricky Martin Foundation for Puerto Rico)
One America Appeal
TIDAL X PUERTO RICO
Red Cross Hurricane Maria Relief
Red Cross Hurricane Relief
To help those in Mexico affected by the recent earthquakes:
Red Cross Mexico
UNICEF Disaster Relief
TIDAL X BROOKLYN
To help the various Caribbean communities affected by Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma:
UNICEF Disaster Relief
Caribbean Emergency Management Association (CEMA) a partnership between the American Foundation for The University of the West Indies (AFUWI) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA)
Tim Duncan Relief Fund
One America Appeal
TIDAL X BROOKLYN
Red Cross Hurricane Maria Relief
Red Cross Hurricane Irma Relief
Red Cross Hurricane Relief
To help those in Florida affected by Hurricane Irma:
One America Appeal
TIDAL X BROOKLYN
Red Cross Hurricane Relief
Red Cross Hurricane Irma Relief
To help those in Houston affected by Hurricane Harvey:
Bread Of Life
Greater Houston Community Foundation
One America Appeal
TIDAL X BROOKLYN
Red Cross Hurricane Harvey
Beyonce has also pledged to donate her proceeds from J. Balvin - "Mi Gente featuring Beyonce remix" to hurricane and earthquake relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and other affected Caribbean islands.
I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands. To help go to Beyonce.com/reliefefforts.
A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on Sep 28, 2017 at 6:09pm PDT
Which it is an awesome song ! Not only do you get a new song but also help take part in aiding all countries impacted by natural disasters.
Please help in whatever way you can

NEW YORK, NY – George Gresham, President of New York City’s largest labor union, 1199SEIU, is being honored with the 2015 American Foundation for The University of the West Indies (AFUWI) Special Award. The union stalwart, who rose through the ranks to the helm of one of the most powerful trade unions, will be presented with the prestigious award at the glitzy Annual Legacy Awards Gala on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at The Pierre in New York City.
Now in its 18th year, the annual event, organized under the auspices of Honorary Patron, Dr. The Hon. Harry Belafonte, O.J., seeks to raise funds for the University of the West Indies (UWI), the largest and most longstanding higher education provider in the English-speaking Caribbean.
A strong advocate for the rights of health care workers and their families, Mr. Gresham is the fifth president in the union’s 75-year history. After assuming the top post in April 2007, two years later he directed the successful collective bargaining with the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes on behalf of 135,000 New York metropolitan area members at 87 institutions. In addition to expanding job security for its members, including part-time workers, it also secured a comprehensive health package with improved pension benefits along with a 10 percent compounded wage increase through April 2015.
Mr. Gresham also serves as a Vice President of the Executive Board of Service Employees Internal Union (SEIU) with 2.1 million working members in locals throughout the nation, and co-chairs the 1199SEIU National Benefit Fund, the largest self-insured union healthcare plan in the nation, the 1199SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund, which has employer contributions and grant funding of over $150 million per year, the 1199/Employer Child Care Fund, which covers over 50,000 children of members, and the 1199SEIU Pension Fund, which has nearly $7 billion in assets.
Among the other honorees are Debra A. Sandler, Chief Health and Wellbeing Officer for Mars, Incorporated, Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International and George Willie, Managing Partner of Bert Smith & Co. who will receive the Caribbean Luminary Award; while Paxton Baker, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CENTRIC (formerly BETJ), will be presented with the Vice Chancellor’s Achievement Award. The Legacy Awards are conferred on notable individuals or entities which represent high levels of achievement within their respective fields of industry and enterprise.
Former New York City Mayor Hon. David Dinkins will be this year’s Honorary Dinner Chair, with past awardees Malcolm Gladwell and Jessye Norman serving as Honorary Chairs. Kaye Foster-Cheek, former SVP, Global Human Resources Onyx Pharmaceuticals will serve as 2015 Dinner Patron.
Tickets for the fundraising gala start at $500 and should be reserved by Friday, January 23, 2015.
To reserve or purchase tickets, contact AFUWI by calling 212-759-9345.
