Lowkey I've been thinking about an aftonschmidt fic that centers around Mike's employment at freddy's being way longer than what it was in the movie. Throughout the fic I was thinking that... Mike is in a sort of 'boiling frog' situation, with the heat escalating so subtly and so slowly that he doesn't really notice. William starts as the overly friendly career counselor, but eventually, he manages to worm past Mike's defenses and begins to plant the seeds of an unhealthy dependence.

William goes out of his way to kill Mike's old babysitter, he listens to Mike's anxieties of his aunt and kills her as well, he makes sure that no one gets to close to him. Mike is completely and utterly alone, with William swiftly coming to Mike's side as his one and only friend. He listens to all of Mike's vulnerabilities, his fears, his insecurities, his dreams- all of it, all of it for him and him alone. William could admit to himself that at first it was just a passing amusement, but that amusement twists itself into an extremely real obsession with a nice dusting of possession atop it as well. Mike is his in his mind, he was his the moment that what he wanted was to not kill him- but own him, possess him, watch the helpless fire burn in his eyes while he attempts to fight him. But, that's all in due time, until that point, William is careful of making sure he barges his way into every factor of Mike's life and takes every inch given to him. Mike is the one who opened the door to him, who accepted every offer, who trusted in William's comfort- so Mike shouldn't feel upset at all, after all, William is so kind and he was the one who made the decision to accept William's kindness after all...

Just, I really the idea of a more slow burn approach to whatever the fuck William and Mike have going on here. In this fic I don't think they'd be explicitly sexual or romantic in the beginning, but instead William is the biggest goddamn tease in the universe and purposely plays innocent. Mike is afraid to call him out on it or even presume that William would be so underhanded- so he just assumes that he's looking far too into things. William totally isn't trying to wind Mike up so so damn hard that he wants Mike to break under the pressure of his own dependence and lust towards him. To such an extent that William wants to watch Mike melt from the inside as he tries to keep his desire under wraps. If anything, William thinks it's the most damn cute and pathetic thing he's ever seen in his life. Mike's desire is a starved thing, and he has every intention to drag it out until Mike is quite literally on his knees willing and begging for anything that William is willing to give him.

Sometimes William even likes to check in on Mike while he's at work :) now, Mike may not know that he's there because he's sleeping, but William has his own needs as well... he may be denying Mike, but he won't be denying himself :)

Also a random scene I have in mind is William purposely setting a fire in the Schmidt house, specifically in Abby's room, so that the entire house goes up in flames. William had a brief hope that Abby would suffocate or die to the flames, but she sadly did not do either. So instead he offers for Mike and Abby both to live with him until they're able to get back on their feet <3 isn't he so nice <3 anyway William totally isn't sadistically pleased to have Mike so close-
