this has probably been mentioned already but. the fact that percy's flossing which is a 2016-onwards thing. compared to the books being written and set in the noughties. there's something so surreal about the passing of time. the fact that he was just a kid and all that that entailed at the time, intended to be relatable for the young audience of the time, and now it's been adapted for today's young audience so the relatability aspect has been recreated but that involves these subtle differences. the fact that both these iterations, set almost two decades apart, are still the same person. and the at the core of his creation as a character was the need to make kids feel validated and seen. meaning these changes will happen in every adaptation but through it all it's still the same percy we know and love. idk if this makes sense but i'm feeling things about this three-second shot of a kid flossing at the highest point he can reach to pass the time because why the hell not. because he's just a kid.
