Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage - Sittin' on Top of the World 2023

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. He rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing "Like to Party", the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013). In 2019, he won Best International Act at the BET Awards, and was named an Apple Music Up Next artist. He also released his fourth studio album, African Giant, which went on to win Album of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards and was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. He was awarded African Artist of the Year at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards. Burna Boy released his fifth studio album, Twice as Tall, in August 2020. It won Best World Music Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He again won Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards.

Burna Boy's sixth studio album Love, Damini was released in 2022 and became the highest debut of a Nigerian album on the Billboard 200 chart. It also became the highest-charting African album in France, the Netherlands and the UK. Burna Boy was awarded the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic plaque for his achievements in music. He won his fourth Best International Act at the BET Awards in 2023. He won The Headies Afrobeats Single of the Year category and also the Song of the Year for "Last Last". In support of his album Love, Damini, Burna Boy embarked on a global tour starting in May 2022, with dates in North America, Europe and Africa. On 3 June 2023, he performed in front of a sold-out 60,000 crowd at the London Stadium, becoming the first African artist to headline a stadium tour in the UK. Reacting to this achievement, he first alluded to the album title, saying, "I told them that I'm a genius".

"Sittin' on Top of the World" was released on 1 June 2023 as the lead single from Burna Boy's seventh studio album I Told Them… (2023). Produced by Skread, it contains a sample of "Top of the World" by Brandy featuring Mase. The official remix of the song, featuring Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage, received a nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Burna Boy performed the song at the ceremony alongside Brandy and 21 Savage.

Sorry to everyone who’s been submitting about Invictus Games, but I am just *really* bored by the topic. It’s become very repetitive and I don’t know that I can keep saying the same things in different ways. I’m putting a pin in the topic for now. We’ll revisit it later. These are my final thoughts, to address most of the recent asks:

I have a feeling that the backlash to Harry getting the Pat Tillman award helped to tank Washington’s bid.

Just because someone promised financing in 2023 or 2024 for an event scheduled to take place in 2027 doesn’t mean that financing will be there or still happen by the time 2027 rolls around…especially if said someone no longer holds an influential position of power and access in the government.

The BRF, including the Royal Foundation, has drawn a very hard, clear, impermeable line in the sand between their work and that of Harry’s/Invictus Games’s. In present conditions, they are not throwing him/them any lifelines at all, which terrifies Harry - and we know that because of all the new PR from him connecting William and Kate back to Invictus Games and their launch in 2014. I think that PR is only going to get testier the harder Harry’s job gets without loyal acolytes in place to do what he wants. His goose is cooked and he’s starting to realize it…hence the sudden pivot back to the royal family.

Harry and Meghan have already been to Birmingham. They went way back in March 2018 as part of their engagement tour. Remember the event where they were sitting at a table with a group of girls and Harry was conversing with the girls on his side, the girls on Meghan’s side were talking to each other, and Meghan started talking to (and gesticulating to) no one? Or when Harry plucked a young girl out of the crowd to meet Meghan and give her a hug, all because she had dreams of being an actress? Yep, that was Birmingham. So yes, it’s reasonable to expect some kind of “royal flashbacks” as part of the PR and promotions for 2027.

And finally: Birmingham is in 2027. That’s 3 years away. It’s no use trying to predict what’s going to happen then now. It’s just a wild crapshoot. Same with Vancouver 2025. I appreciate each and every one of you, but let’s get through the rest of 2024, and all that it promises (royal tours! Kate’s reappearances! Olympics! William’s new patronages! Earthshot South Africa! An exciting new project for mental health! Christmas card photos! A shitshow of a POTUS election! Beetlejuice 2! Gladiator 2! Pacey Witter back on TV! Reputation Taylor’s Version!), first.

Do you have any other photos of the shawl Meg wears during "Notes"? I'm trying to recreate it and there are different versions but I'm struggling to find pictures that are better than my blurry screenshot so I thought I'd ask the expert. Many many thanks!

I think the good news is that there isn't one specific look. It depends on what version of the shawl you are looking for, which production, which actress, as the shawls come in many forms and colours. Note that it's only in the West End revival and the Restaged Tour that she use the shawl in the managers office. In the original staging it's only done for the Sitzprobe. Which in turn means that the typical Primadonna lineup looked like this:

While the new West End revival lineup looks like this:

They do the same in the Restaged Tour, so I assume it's a clue or two picked up from there. The Restaged Tour has used many different colours for the shawl - originally black, then blue, now pink. The latter is in sync with the West End revival.

The shawl itself, in the original staging, is usually knitted or crocheted, sometimes more lace-like or embroidered silk, with or without fringes, usually cream, sometimes grey or beige.

For the West End revival they did a more pinkish tone to the shawl Ellie Waite and later Maiya Hisaka wore:

I am almost tempted to think they dyed an elder cream shawl, as it looks very similar to the one Heidi Ann O'Brien wore some 12 years ago, give or take the fringes:

But then an additional change for Maiya Hisaka in 2024, as they fitted her with what looks like a pink embroidered Chinese silk shawl, similar in style to Christine's Aminta shawl. This is what she wore for the West End Live performance:

In other words: Unless you are determined to recreate one specific shawl, you have quite the leeway to recreate the look. They come in many textures, patterns and colours. As long as it is square and preferably with some fringes or outline, it is a recognizable look.

A last note: The shawl is usually fastened in a much-used period way. Fold it in half (making a triangle), place it over the shoulders with the large point down the back, and bring the ends over the chest and tie them in the back. For this to be comfortable it's a good idea to stick to a knitted or crocheted shawl, or an elastic material.
