Discord I know for a fact has handed over chat history to law enforcement before and they will do so again. Use an end to end encypted messaging app AND DO NOT USE SIGNAL. - My personal reccommendation is Cwtch. it runs on Tor Browser and unless you turn the settings off it will not provide notifications of messages and it will delete the message history when the app is closed. it is password protected as well.

On that note, if you need to look something up for things like reproductive care, use Tor/the Onion Browser. It's about as safe as it can get and yes it takes a bit to load but that's because it's got built-in VPNs.

This bit may be on the more extreme side but as soon as I have the energy to I'm seeing if I can't reprogram my laptop to run on Linux.

Switching to Firefox

This post is to answer @leaveblackkbrosalone’s question on my post about me switching to Firefox!

I recently had an eye opener moment when researching about Google and how they collect data to alter the things they recommend you and other things. And it was astonishing how much data they collect on you and how they track you every movement whilst on Google/Chrome/Other Google services e.g. Google PlayStore.

I truly believe there are better alternatives out there than the default Google Chrome people tend to use. We now live in world of constant data breaches and online tracking, therefore protecting your online privacy and security has never been more important.

I’ve recently deleted Chrome from my phone and computer and switched to FireFox and I’ll explain why~!

What is Firefox?

Firefox is the famous fox web browser! It is a free and open-source that is developed by the Mozilla Foundation. It's designed to be fast, secure, and customizable, and is available for multiple operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Firefox includes a suite of built-in features, such as enhanced tracking protection, custom themes (so important obviously) and add-ons, and a flexible interface that can be tailored to the user's needs.

Why Firefox and not Google Chrome?

There are a bunch of reasons why I chose to delete Google Chrome and why I prefer FireFox now, let me list some:

Privacy

Firefox has a strong focus on privacy and security, with features like built-in tracking protection and a strict anti-tracking policy.

In contrast, Chrome is owned by Google, a company that relies heavily on data collection and advertising for its business model.

Customisation

Firefox has a much more flexible and customizable interface than Chrome, with a wide range of add-ons (equivalent to Chrome’s ‘extensions’ I believe) and themes available to personalize your browsing experience.

Open-source

Firefox is an open-source project, meaning that anyone can contribute to its development and review the code for security issues.

Chrome, on the other hand, is based on the Chromium project, which is also open-source but is controlled by Google.

Cross-platform compatibility

Firefox works on a wide range of devices and operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices.

Chrome is also available on multiple platforms, but it's more heavily integrated with Google's services and ecosystem.

Performance

Firefox has made significant improvements in recent years and is now a competitive browser in terms of speed and efficiency.

Community-driven

Firefox is developed by the non-profit Mozilla Foundation, which has a strong focus on user empowerment and community involvement. This means that Firefox users have a voice in the development process and can contribute to the browser's future direction.

With all of that being said, there is one particular area that caught my eye that I mentioned briefly: the Privacy and Security.

Firefox’s Privacy and Security Advantages

Firefox definitely has advantages in these areas than Google Chrome surprisingly!

Enhanced Tracking Protection

Firefox includes built-in tracking protection that blocks many common types of trackers by default, including

third-party cookies, cryptominers, and fingerprinters

This helps to protect your online privacy and reduce the amount of data that's collected about you. Below are the options for the 'Enhance Tracking Protection' in the settings:

No Google Tracking

Oh boy, I like this one. So unlike Chrome, which is owned by Google and ties into its advertising and data collection ecosystem, Firefox is developed by the non-profit Mozilla Foundation and has no affiliation with Google or any other major tech company. This means that Firefox is less likely to collect and share your data with third parties.

No Sign-In Required

While Chrome requires you to sign in with a Google account to access certain features, Firefox does not require any sign-in at all. This means that you can still use Firefox without creating a user profile or linking your browsing activity to any personal information -

Don’t get me wrong, if you want to use the Google search engine WITHIN FireFox, it might still prompt you to sign in but you still don’t have to! Also, the choice is there to create an account just to sync bookmarks and tab from one device to another e.g. phone to laptop.

Private Browsing Mode

(Another very important part!) Firefox offers a Private Browsing mode that doesn't save your browsing history, cookies, or temporary files. This can be useful for browsing sensitive content or preventing others from seeing what you've been looking at.

Firefox's Private Browsing mode offers a more robust set of features for privacy and security than Google’s Incognito mode. Within the ‘Settings’, you can customise your privacy settings more extensively than Google Chrome. You can choose to block all third-party cookies, prevent websites from accessing your location data, and clear your browsing history and data automatically when you close the browser.

Google's Incognito mode does not block all cookies or prevent all forms of tracking.

Open-Source Security

Like I mentioned before, Firefox is an open-source project, meaning that anyone can review the code and contribute to its development. This helps to ensure that security vulnerabilities are identified and addressed quickly, and that the browser remains as secure as possible. You too can find something and report it to the repository via creating an issue!

To Conclude

Of course, these are just some general reasons why you might prefer Firefox over Chrome, and the choice ultimately comes down to personal preference and priorities. I know with developers, they would prefer Chrome for the dev tools and I think it’s almost a standard to use Chrome (though at my workplace we use Microsoft Edge), anyhoo Google is just a default for web browsing and search engine. I also know it’s hard if you have a whole Google ecosystem set up like Google docs to Sheet to Slides, emails, calendar etc, you can still use them but on a safer browser.

I would also recommend using ‘DuckDuckGo’ for a search engine as they too are really good with security and privacy but as a search engine (plus on their phone app they have a cool animation when you want to delete you browsing data from the tabs hehe)!

What, do you think, was Ocelot's opinion on Jackal when he first met him? And what was Jackal's characteristics/description provided to Ocelot?

His first opinion on meeting Jackal properly when Venom brought him back to Mother Base sedated after rescuing him was probably along the lines of ‘so this is the little shit that’s been trying to kill the Boss for several months.’

I little bit of a background to give some context (I say a bit it’s a really fucking long summary so I’m sorry about that lmao it does provide the context as to why Ocelot feels the way he does about him though):

The first time Jackal tried to kill Venom was at the hospital in Cyprus after Venom woke up from the 9 year coma but he arrived after all hell had been let loose and the hospital was on fire and decided ‘yeah ok maybe not today’ and just turned back around. However he did wait around a bit and started tracking Venom and Ocelot to Afghanistan, which is where he started actually trying to kill him (obviously it didn’t go to plan). This is also when Ocelot realised they were being followed so he started keeping tabs on Jackal too.

Fast forward a bit, turns out it was Cipher who had posed as a client and hired Jackal through the mercenary organisation he was affiliated with to kill Big Boss, which Jackal was not aware of but it explained why some of his mercenary buddies had gone missing recently because they were hired to do the same thing as him which he is now the replacement for so now he’s pissed, and unfortunately since he’d failed to kill Venom several times Cipher deemed him no longer useful so they handed him over to the Soviets under the false claims that he was allied with Venom and that he was helping to sabotage and blow up their facilities. Soviets decide ‘ok well we fucking hate this guy and the man he works for let’s torture him until he dies but draw out his suffering to send a message to Big Boss’ so Jackal’s then being held captive at one of their stations where there are some other prisoners.

A few days later, Jackal is hanging onto his life by a thread, been beaten up and tortured really badly, bleeding with broken bones, all that lovely stuff—luckily this is one of the places Venom has been tasked to infiltrate and rescue the prisoners, especially those who could be useful. Eventually he finds where Jackal is being held captive after looking through the cells, and as Ocelot is keeping an eye on Venom in his mission as usual, he recognises this fucker as the merc who’s been hounding Venom for months but realises that ‘wait if he’s here that means he’s an enemy of Cipher we could use him’ so they decide to haul his ass back to Mother Base. Whilst Jackal is in a lot of pain and exhausted, he’s still awake so he hears this exchange (or at least Venom’s side of it) and as soon as Venom approaches Jackal to pick him up, he tries to lash out because ‘this is the guy I’ve been trying to kill for months and he’s the reason my friends are dead’ and Jackal manages to bite him, which with his metal fang causes a gash in Venom’s arm, and in exchange Venom gives him a little gift (tranq dart to the neck).

Jackal wakes up in a room on the medical platform at Mother Base, muzzled and handcuffed to the bed so he can’t escape or attack anyone, which was Ocelot’s idea, because whilst Venom recognises that he’s dangerous and he’s attempted to kill him, Ocelot’s the one who’s been collecting information on him and has a file for Jackal, so he knows that this is a man who’s been a soldier for over half of his life and is known for his untrustworthiness and ruthlessness, and that the only reason he didn’t succeed in killing his last target was because he was up against Venom, no way in Hell was he going to let that man on Mother Base without ensuring he couldn’t hurt anyone, even if he’s severely injured and barely able to move. So it’s safe to say that Ocelot absolutely does not trust him. His affiliation with Cipher also doesn’t help. Whilst Jackal is nowhere near as dangerous as Quiet who also had an affiliation with Cipher, Quiet’s only tried to kill Venom a couple of times and mostly seems to fight back if provoked (from what I remember anyway it’s been a while since I’ve played TPP), whereas Jackal has tried to kill Venom about 10 times over a longer time span and will attack unexpectedly for seemingly no reason (Venom rescued Jackal a while after Quiet was recruited and he was still trying to kill this man at that point).

This is also why Ocelot is Jackal’s handler—whilst he has no doubts that Venom can handle himself in a fight against Jackal, he’d rather not risk it. Plus Venom’s not the resident torturer, and if Jackal tried to still kill Venom after being beaten and tortured by the Soviets for several days even after how weak he was then it will probably take a lot to get him to calm down fully, and Ocelot’s more than prepared to take on that responsibility.

In terms of the information Ocelot had of Jackal before joining Mother Base, when Jackal first started hunting them, Ocelot got a look at the patch he wore which had the logo of the merc organisation he was associated with and managed to find his files in their database—there wasn’t a lot of information on him, mostly his real name, nickname and a couple of photos of him as well as D.O.B., height and weight, nationality etc. There was also information of how long he’d been a merc for, where he previously served and how long as well as a general run-down of his proficiencies and fighting style. There were a couple of important things that weren’t in his file, such as the benign tumours on his adrenal glands that caused him to produce excess adrenaline which contributed to his fast reflexes, tirelessness, alertness, high pain tolerance and aggressive tendencies as well as his panic attacks and sudden outbursts, but Ocelot found this out after a medical examination after he was brought back to Mother Base and being treated for his injuries. Cue Ocelot testing different drugs and medication on Jackal to see which ones calm him down the most or reduce his adrenaline levels to get him to behave normally. Another thing that wasn’t in his file is that he’s a surprisingly good welder, so when he’s not training or in a mission he’ll usually be in R&D and helping develop things.

Going back a bit to Ocelot’s view of Jackal when he first met him, apart from the fact he posed a threat, he realised that Jackal was just. Rude. Him being a soldier for 20 years apparently didn’t get rid of his authority issues. He doesn’t like listening to people which is something that got on Ocelot’s nerves. He did realise Jackal’s potential to be a very useful soldier so he refused to give up on him but he just absolutely could not stand him. Which is why in a lot of my art where those two are together they won’t be seen getting along lmao.

Now with host Ray Raybeam on the situation:

The host tries to keep a straight face as the camera closes in on him in front of the blue news-room backdrop.

“Yes, for the past few days America has been eagerly awaiting the return of Mister President’s cellphone–twitter has been so boring without him. And apparently, Mister President could not remember his login info, but someone else did.”

Ray smiles again as an image appears with a blurry photo of the top of someone’s brown boots as they stand in tall grass.

“Now let’s see what top secret passcodes our president comes up with!”

The corner image then expands across the television screen, revealing the text beneath the image, the news host reads:

“Hello? I’ve never kept a journal before, though I have never seen one like this. Whatever old Kerch Merch lost this is incredibly stupid. All his combination locks were ‘1234’ and ‘Password123!’ I fixed that quickly, I even managed to think ahead and put my new address in the ‘mail’ with a ‘G’ portion and made some crafty combinations of my own.

What measures should you take if you're invited to participate in an interview or documentary on transgender issues? From my experience, having accepted numerous interview and documentary invitations and declined many, I've established a set of guidelines to help gauge the legitimacy of a request:

Conduct thorough research on the producer and your primary contact. Examine their LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter profiles to discern any affiliations with right-wing groups. Use Google to aid your search. Also, evaluate their production history. Be wary of new studios without a track record or individuals who haven't previously engaged with this subject matter.

Inquire about their track record with LGBTQ+ reporting or topics. If they lack experience, proceed with caution. Crews that have never reported on LGBTQ+ issues are riskier than those who have covered them accurately.

Verify if queer and/or trans individuals are part of the production team. It's common for credible crews documenting trans and queer lives to include members from these communities. Given the prevalence of LGBTQ+ professionals in the film industry, an absence of such individuals on a team is a concerning sign. Ask this upfront.

Find out about other participants. It's crucial to know who else will be featured. Will the documentary give a platform to anti-trans voices, or will it represent informed voices from within the community?

Inquire about framing. Will the piece present a "both sides" argument? Reflect on the potential pitfalls of such framing. Frequently, anti-trans documentaries feature, for instance, a fringe doctor counterposed against the consensus of the American Academy of Pediatrics, attributing equal credibility to both, which can be misleading.

Reach out to a reliable contact within the industry. Feel free to ask me about the authenticity of any documentary inquiry you receive. Organizations like GLAAD and local LGBTQ+ groups can also provide valuable insight.

These tactics are valuable not only for vetting documentaries but also in other contexts. They can help you decide whether to accept an interview request, even from "respectable" news organizations. Some of these outlets, notorious for subpar reporting on LGBTQ+ matters, often cycle in journalists with little recognition to cover the topic poorly. It's crucial to confirm that you're engaging with a journalist who has a solid track record when discussing these sensitive issues.

Lately, dubious groups and right-wing documentaries have shifted their tactics. They're no longer pursuing high-profile activists, who've become adept at recognizing their ploys. Instead, they're targeting those less accustomed to such attention: local activists, healthcare professionals, and individuals outside the circles familiar with those operating in bad faith against transgender rights and care. This shift underscores the importance for all my readers to be knowledgeable about these deceptive strategies and to disseminate this awareness to their networks to prevent anyone from becoming an unwitting victim.
