June 2024 AFA Raffle - Prize Clearance Bonanza!!

The prize list is long, and the pile of things to be added to the list is longer, so we need to clear the old prizes out to make space for the new prizes!!

What this means:

For June, we've added an extra question to the Angel Fish Awards nomination form. You can find the form by clicking here. This question asks what prize you want your nomination to be an entry for. You can find the prize list by clicking here.

The bad, sad nitty gritty:

We're trying to get rid of the physical prizes that are piling up in Admin Michelle's office, so this will only apply to physical prizes. Prizes like podfics and story commissions and such are not a part of this. Sadly, this means that folks in EU are also not eligible for this, since we have all collectively decided that shipping and landing costs and duties are ridiculous and we don't want them. We don't want to leave the EU folks out, though, so IF YOU ARE IN THE EU, note that in the prize question on your AFA nomination form, and we will put you in a separate raffle for a non-thing prize.

How it works:

Fill out the AFA nomination form, as usual. When you get to the last question, type in the name of the prize you want that nomination to go towards. For example, the Coloring Book for Writers.

You can submit as many nominations as you want, and each nomination will be an entry, like always. You can assign each entry to a different prize, though, or assign them all to one prize.

If multiple people want the same prize, there will be a drawing for that prize. This is where assigning multiple entries to one prize would be beneficial.

So, let's clean out Admin Michelle's office and win fabulous prizes all while spreading love and fic recs!! So many wins!!

August 2023 Angel Fish Awards

NEW! EXCITING! EXCITING NEWS!

We are making a big change to the Angel Fish Awards, and to celebrate, we're giving away EVERYTHING in the prize pool!

In the past, you could only nominate a Pond member's story. Starting right now, we're changing that! You can now nominate any SPN or The Winchesters fan fiction story, whether the writer is a Pond member or not!

To celebrate this change, we're opening up the prize pool to EVERYONE who submits a nomination by Monday, September 4th, at midnight California time!

Because of this celebration, FOR THIS MONTH ONLY, nominations will be submitted via THIS GOOGLE FORM HERE.

How it will work:

You submit a nomination via the Google form. You will need to supply your Tumblr URL, the title and author of the fic, a link to the fic, and a sentence or two about why you are nominating this fic.

You will need to be willing to submit your full name and shipping information to Admin Michelle so she can mail you your prize.

You can submit as many nominations as you want. The only limit is four nominations per author. You can nominate an infinite number of authors, though! And an infinite number of fics!

For each nomination, you will let us know what prize you want. You can choose a different prize for each nomination, or put all your nominations toward one prize. It's up to you! CLICK HERE FOR THE PRIZE LIST!

If more than one person has put a nomination towards the same prize, then there will be a drawing to determine the winner of that prize.

If, for some reason, you manage to lose out to someone else for every single prize you choose, we will still send you something. Don't know what. Could be anything. Probably not that egg thing Ketch shipped in s15.

So, send in as many nominations as you can to be eligible for as many prizes as you want! We're clearing out the old prizes to make room for a bunch of new ones coming in! Share the love! EVERYTHING MUST GO!!

We're almost at the end of August, which means we're just a few days away from our next drawing for the Angel Fish Raffle! Remember, every nomination you send in is an entry into that month's raffle with some most excellent prizes!

Pond calendar - We've added a view of the Pond calendar to our blog. Click here to see it on desktop. Because it is a page on Tumblr, it's not accessible to mobile users. Because it is only a view of the calendar, it shows everything in Eastern US time. This view, though, does not require you to log into Google and add our calendar to yours just to see it. You can still do that by clicking here. The benefit of adding our calendar to your own via Google is that you can see everything in your own time zone. If you have questions, please send a message to Admin Michelle!

Suggestion box - Just a reminder that we have a completely anonymous suggestion box! (If you're on mobile, click here.) Is there something you'd like to see added to our FAQ but you're a little shy to ask? Or maybe you'd like a tutorial on how to do something? Angel Fish Raffle prize list update!

Hey, guys! Michelle here. I just added 25 SPN-related t-shirts and a couple non-SPN shirts to the raffle prize list! I'm going to be adding more prizes later on tonight, including a Jack plush toy from CultureFly, and some books about writing and publishing I picked up at MomentoCon last month.

Announcing changes to the Angel Fish Awards nomination requirements!

As part of our efforts to further include readers in the Pond, we have decided to allow non-members, i.e. readers, to submit Angel Fish Award nominations!

Along with this comes a new name for these readers who we all love and depend on so much:

Turtles!

Why turtles? Because they hang out, being all chill, and consume stuff in the most adorable ways! As we don't have a huge following of Turtles, just yet, we're not expecting a flood of interest or AFA nominations right away. In the coming weeks, we hope to make this blog easier for Turtles to use as a one-stop shop for all of their SPN fan fiction needs!

FAQ on this change:

- This means that anyone can submit a nomination, regardless of membership status.

- Writers who can receive nominations are still restricted to members only. (Membership has its benefits!)

- We will not accept AFA nominations from Anonymous asks. (Side note: We prefer AFA nominations be submitted using the submission form, anyway. It makes it easier for you to include links, and no text limits!) If you would like to keep your nominations private, you can either ask to remain anonymous in your submission, or send a private message to one of our admins, @mrswhozeewhatsis​.

- Turtles who submit nominations will be eligible to receive raffle prizes! (You need to be willing to give us your full name and shipping address. If you are under 18, then you may need permission from a parent or guardian to do this.)

- If anyone, regardless of membership status, wants to submit a nomination without entering the raffle, simply mention that you don’t wish to participate in the raffle in your submission.

December 2020 Angel Fish Awards and Raffle Reminder

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Thank God 2020 Is Almost Over to everyone!!

For this most festive of months, we’ve got a special holiday prize package to be won! In addition to the usual raffle, we will also give a holiday-themed prize package to the member who submits the MOST nominations this month!

The Holiday prize package includes all of the following:

A signed CD of Gil McKinney’s Christmas album

February Angel Fish Raffle

For February, 2020, ONLY we’re going to run the raffle differently!

There’s such a backlog of prizes, and we’ve got more prizes coming (including a whole box of GISH items donated by @girl-with-a-fandom-fettish​​), that we’re going to try to clean out some of these old prizes.

As always: 

Nominate a fellow Pond member’s story and get yourself an entry into the raffle! Remember, every nomination is an entry, and you can nominate as many as you want! So, share the love, guys!!

But this month also:

Each nomination you send in to the Pond will still be one entry, but you can assign that entry to a prize.

Normally, you find that magical story that makes your toes curl, makes your heart sing, makes your eyes leak, or just generally impresses you with its correct usage of the word pique. Then, you head into the Pond’s submission box, you give us the link to the story, you tell us all about how much you love the story and why, and then you sit back and wait to see if you’ve won the raffle all while basking in all the love you get because you gave love out and isn’t it awesome how that works??

This month, February of 2020, we’re going to do things a little differently that is going to require you to do a little more.

For every nomination you send in, we will also need you to GO HERE and FILL OUT THIS FORM. This form will enable you to assign your nomination to a prize. All the prizes available are listed there with pretty pictures for you to peruse and enjoy!

Each prize will have a raffle all by itself. 

If you are the only person to submit an entry for a certain prize, then it’s yours! If two other people also submit entries for that prize, then a winner will be randomly chosen among the three of you. (Your names will be written onto teeny tiny sticky notes, folded, and thrown into the air at a couple of kittens who are the ultimate judges, as usual.) 

(Really, I’ll take any excuse to use that gif. I’m shameless.)

This means, it is entirely possible that you could win a prize for every single nomination you submit. Send in a dozen nominations and assign each one to a different prize? You could have a dozen prizes sent to you in a giant box like it’s Christmas.

For example, let’s say you send in five (5) nominations. You can then assign each entry to a different prize:

1 entry for the throw pillow cover

1 entry for the Cas plush toy

1 entry for a Mama Bear temporary tattoo
