she's irritated, and you're irritated by her being irritated. her eyes are already glazed over from all the cocaine lines she snorted with your rolled-up benjamin. needless to say, it won't take long before a fight breaks out in this club if she doesn't sit down soon.
a giant swarm of bodies is how you describe kwangya avenue tonight, bright LEDs shining overhead, and a cacophony of voices all drumming into your ear. it's all a bit much for you, but you weather through it rather than to see yizhou upset at you.
she's landed herself into one of the vips booths, the wrong vip booth it seems. since you don't recognize a single face there. the women are watching in disdain as yizhou collects herself while you try to move her out of the way. the men are trying to get a better view of her face (and her body). you sneer at them and grab her arm to hold her back up.
she's a devastating beauty with her leather jacket and wispy long jet black hair. she's weaving through the crowd as if trying to swim through water, stumbling and holding onto walls. you finally managed to see the booth of people at aeri's party.
"fuck me." you groan to yourself when you see the many lines of cocaine and girls swapping acid tabs with each other. it's a recipe for disaster, and with how yizhou has been pre-gaming, the last thing she needs is more fuel for the fire that is her muddled brain.
"gigi! my baby!" yizhou shouts as she damn near throws herself over aeri when she sees her.
you try and sit far away from the unknown girls who are making out with each other while being egged on by some weird dudes. the last thing you need is attention. you just hope this night ends quickly enough for you to enjoy your show wrapped up in your warm bed.
"hi sweetheart, missed me?" aeri speaks gently to yizhou, she smooths out yizhou's wild hair. aeri is nice. you've met her a couple times. she's calmer than yizhou, that's for sure. but she's often an enabler, she is just better at self-control than yizhou. there's been more than a few occasions that yizhou has went over to aeri's and come back on another universe, with aeri telling you that she needs to settle.
you can see the care that aeri has for yizhou, like her little sister, that she finds out of control. you're grateful that aeri is able to bring yizhou back to reality whenever she spirals.
aeri finally spots you with a tired yizhou lying on her chest, "hi, she doing okay?" she points at yizhou in her arms. you nod and get closer to aeri.
"yeah, got high off lines early; you know how she likes to pregame." you explain and yizhou is laughing with her eyes closed and rubbing aeri's back languidly.
she laughs at the fact, "yeah that's ning for sure." aeri passes yizhou back to you, and in an instant you're back to worrying about just fucked up she is right now. aeri is off being a good host, talking to other people while you have a high yizhou tucked into your neck like a koala bear.
you check her eyes, they're blown for sure. it's still safe but definitely a little worrisome. you continue to sigh as she grumbles about you messing with her eyes. you start explaining why, but she's already tuned you out. grabbing a cup of whiskey off the table and downing it before the owner can see it.
minjeong and jimin show up after a couple minutes, both enthusiastically wishing aeri a happy birthday and upon seeing yizhou's state, they come over to talk to her. yizhou seems a little more coherent, joyfully speaking about how happy she is that it's aeri's birthday and that she wishes nothing but the best.
minjeong is happily chatting it up with yizhou and being an active listener, but jimin's worried. she shoots you glances and whispers questions about yizhou's well-being. you give her the same spiel you gave aeri earlier. jimin is nice enough to bring over glasses of water to help sober up yizhou, even if it'll only do a little.
aeri returns with a bright smile after greeting her other guests, and seeing how yizhou is so happy, she pulls yizhou to the dance floor.
"omg, yay! let's all dance!" yizhou exclaims happily she tugs both minjeong and jimin's hands and pulls them to the dancefloor. you sigh when you notice you've been left behind. aeri waits for you, though, "are you okay?"
"no, give me a minute." you rub at your temples and set off for the bar, needing a drink to get the nerves out of your body, so you order just a water cup and try to calm yourself down.
feeling the anxiety of being yizhou's caretaker when she's beyond comprehension is taking a toll on you. it doesn't help that it seems to be a recurring event.
you turn around and get ready to face the dance floor when you notice your girl dancing on some guy. the rage flares up in your body, and you practically run towards the dancefloor where yizhou is happily dancing.
"ning, what the actual fuck!" you grab her off of the random dude, to which he drunkenly walks away. yizhou is still confused with what's going on until her eyes refocus on you.
"what?" she questions as she grabs onto your jacket.
"you were dancing up on some guy!" you're angry and hurt, feeling the anger bubbling up from your gut. minjeong and jimin both eye you two warily. the people around you are moving further away.
"no, i wasn't, i was dancing up on you!" she laughs at you and tries pulling you closer to her.
"you weren't! you were too high out of your fucking mind to realize that dude wasn't even me!" you shout, and by now, yizhou is sobering up a bit. eyes still unfocused, but she's trying to recenter herself.
"no, i'm not!" she shouts and gets away from you, feeling insecure. she's rubbing her arms up and down her jacket and watching everyone's eyes on her. she turns back and pushes you.
"stop it!, i didn't do anything wrong!" she shouts, and by now, more people are gathering, watching you two quarrel.
"anything wrong? ning! you're so beyond here that you can't even differentiate between me and some random dude, of course there's something wrong!" jimin is pulling at your arms and minjeong is trying to console a very upset yizhou.
"calm down. it's okay, you know she doesn't know what's going on." jimin tries getting you to take deep breaths. you nod your head, but the hurt is still spreading deep within your chest.
"you are the one that has a problem with me, my own girlfriend, and it is so damn suffocating to be around you!" yizhou shouts and runs off the dancefloor to what is presumably the women's bathroom. hot tears running down her face as she curses you.
now you're aggravated, and people are awed at the spectacle before them. aeri's busy trying to diffuse the situation and asking the dj to turn up the music louder so everyone will go back to dancing. and it mostly works, you calm your breathing a bit, both minjeong and jimin guiding you through your breathing.
"fuck jimin, i don't know what to do with her." you let out a strangled cry at the frustration, trying so hard to hold yourself together tonight, only to find yourself crying not even halfway through the event.
"listen, i know you're upset right now, but you really should go talk to her; you know how inconsolable she gets when she's high and sad." jimin pats your back, and with a sad heart you walk towards the women's bathroom.
you aren't ready to deal with whatever yizhou throws at you.
"excuse me, excuse me." you weave past the line of women outside the bathrooms and finally find the stall that yizhou has put herself in. she's crying into her hands and rocking herself back and forth.
you crouch down and try and tap her knees, she looks up and scowls at you. already reaching for a cigarette in her pocket. you try to take it away from her but she's being fussy about it. yanking it back and grabbing on to her lips.
she waits until you grab the lighter from your back pocket, smiling at you when you help her light up the cigarette and hold it to her mouth. she inhales deeply before leaning back against the bathroom wall.
"ning baby, let's talk outside." you try to gently pull her up.
she seems out of it, dried teary mascara all over her cheeks and smudged makeup on her hands. she stares at you before grabbing you by the collar and smashing her lips against yours.
you mold your lips against hers and forget just how fucked up this all is. how yizhou never wants to talk to you unless she's on something, how it's always her way or the highway. even now, you know this is fueled by the mix of everything that's in her system. so you cry quietly against her lips. grabbing the back of her head to pull her closer.
you miss when yizhou's eyes would light up when they saw you; now you think in her eyes all she sees is just a blob of a figure. her affection runs hot and cold, just like her temper. and you hang onto this moment, wishing she always wants to kiss you, even if she needs something in her system to do so.
upon feeling the wet tears on her cheeks, she pulls back and stares at you. really takes a look at the person she calls her girlfriend, and she hugs you tightly. sobbing into your arms, and you finally are able to hold her to walk out of the dirty club bathroom. she's crying, you're crying; you can't even tell why you're crying anymore. for yourself or for her, you really don't know.
"i'm sorry for treating you like shit." she mumbles into your chest, but you can hear it no matter how quiet she is. "i just don't feel like myself anymore. whenever I'm sober, it's like...I'm just always sad." she continues when you open the backdoor of the club, walking out in the cool air and away from everyone.
"ning baby, you need to lay off the drugs; it's what's fucking up your mood. you're so dependent on it, it's fucking with how you're actually supposed to feel." she cries harder into you, and you set her down; she immediately crouches into herself and sobs. you just sit with her, taking the cigarette from her and taking a few long draws.
"i hate myself for how i treat you." she cries out. the guilty part of yizhou is resurfacing, the intense guilt for how she can't break out of this cycle, needing lines of cocaine to even attend her best friend's party. she's crying less, but now she has the hiccups, and you would tell her it's cute if not for the heavy mood currently.
"you can still get better ning, nothing is stopping you."
"i'm scared that if i do quit the drugs, that i won't be able to love you anymore." she explains and finally it all clicks, how dependent she is on the drugs to uplift her own mood and make you happy. she's so lost in her wallowing that you're also crying. you look at her and see someone crying out for help.
"i don't think that's possible. i think it would make you able to love a lot better. you can feel the full extent of your emotions when you're sober. these are all just quick and cheap thrills to fake happiness." you explain, and she nods, still clutching onto herself for stability.
you reach into your pocket and bring out some napkins, and start wiping down her face, removing the smudged eyeliner and makeup as best as you can, she closes her eyes and just lets you.
it feels like home again, when you used to help her remove her makeup whenever she felt too tired from a long day out.
behind these tired and dull eyes is still your girlfriend; her warmth and love for you are still there, and at least you would like to believe so. you also wipe down her hands and rub them to stop them from shaking.
"ning, let's go home, okay? tonight's been a lot. i'll text aeri about it."
she nods, and you hold her hand and walk to your bike parked next to the club. grabbing the helmet and kissing her forehead before placing it on and clipping it to her head. you turn around and get ready to speed off in the night, with yizhou's arms wrapped tightly around your torso. you send aeri a quick text that you and ning are leaving early, receiving a thumbs up emoji and you look back at yizhou.
"we'll be okay." you say to yourself and take off.
--
a/n: ning is such an opium girlie (giselle too), and you know it. sorry for such an angsty one, was really feeling it with this ningning pic. stay safe and stay healthy everyone!

< yoo jimin ๋࣭ # through being cheesy (jealous!reader)
from the moment you started calling her, ‘karina’, she knew she messed up somehow. and when you replied either a few hours late or extremely dry, jimin was fucked.
from the moment you started calling her, ‘karina’, she knew she messed up somehow. and when you replied either a few hours late or extremely dry, jimin was fucked.
she would do anything to stop you from being upset at her and would try to immediately find the cause. was it a bad day? something someone said to you? whatever it was, jimin would try to ask everyone you knew to figure out why you were mad.
and after she finds out you were jealous of jimin and aeri’s close relationship, your girlfriend makes sure that you are aware of how much she adores you.
“i love you y/nnie. doesn’t my y/n know how much i love her?” would constantly refer to you in third person to act cute.
“jimin, please shut up.”
it still makes you embarrassed everytime she calls you ‘my y/nnie’, something about the nickname is so cheesy and so jimin-like.
“aw, is my y/nnie embarrassed?”
extremely annoying in a good way and she really does make you feel like you’re the only one for her. on days that you feel extra insecure in your relationship, jimin does her best to reassure you and make you feel loved.
but after you’re feeling better, she will make fun of you.
“i can’t believe you were jealous of me and aeri, she is definitely not my type.”
“shut up.”
< uchinaga aeri ๋࣭ # acts petty (jealous!aeri)
she gets upset on day when you mention that you hung out with jeno from nct, someone that you met in the sm hallways while going to her practice room.
“what were you doing with him?”
“oh, we went to an arcade, and he got me this teddy bear, isn’t it cute?”
she would definitely glare at the teddy bear on your bed and whenever you two would cuddle, she will throw the bear onto the ground.
“what are you doing?”
“just making space!”
“but jeno gave that to me…”
“i’ll get you a more expensive and cuter one.”
acts like she doesn’t care but will make snarky remarks about any person that comes into a five foot radius of you. hates it when you two go out together and people come up to you, asking for your number while she’s there.
can be really mean when she’s jealous and might ignore you too but always ends up caving in the end because she misses you 🤭
“are you done sulking?”
“i hate you.”
always makes sure that her hands are on you and when she sees someone approaching, aeri will fasten her pace, trying to drag you away. she tries to act nonchalant about it but you secretly like it when she’s jealous.
< kim minjeong ๋࣭ # acts cute (jealous!reader)
it really depends on her mood, whether she feels like teasing you or embarrassing you.
you had drunkenly admitted to her that you were upset when you saw a youtube video about minjeong’s close relationship with karina and your girlfriend decided to never shut up about it. but when you’re actually sad, minjeong will bring out her puppy eyes.
“i’m seriously mad, minjeong.”
“your face is so funny.”
“if you keep on making fun of me, I’m going to sleep in the guest room tonight.”
sure, maybe you were overreacting, but minjeong would never invalidate your feelings on purpose. so, she goes out to buy your favourite food, flowers and everything. once you come out of the guest room, you’re greeted with the sight of a bouquet of flowers and a appetising breakfast, along with a handwritten note by minjeong taped to the takeout box.
‘please don’t be mad anymore! i love you so much y/nnie :< ! you’re the only one for me !’
and even though you’re not jealous anymore, minjeong keeps on acting cute and talking to you in that baby voice of hers.
“y/nnie, minjeongie is sorry!”
the voice is cringey but you can’t help but coo over your cute girlfriend, forgetting what you were even upset about earlier.
< ning yizhou # a brat fr 🫣 (jealous!ning)
if you thought aeri was mean, yi zhou is the biggest brat on earth, and when she’s jealous, you two banter so much that jimin had to put both of you in time out corners.
“he was flirting with you!”
“so people can’t be nice anymore?”
“not when he has his hands all over you!”
so stubborn and would never back down from her claims, even though they might be unreasonable at times. but yi zhou would never admit that to you.
sometimes the fights get out of hand and you two need a cool-down period, but usually, you need to be the one to concede.
except on days when you can’t tolerate her attitude anymore and you simply leave the apartment. yizhou will want to stay at home and be smug when you come back but she misses her girlfriend.
might actually cry when you come back and announce you’re sleeping on the couch, she’s just an emotional baby that can’t help but feel insecure 😞

Cursed beauty,, Ningning x f!reader
Tumblr media
۫ ꣑ৎ fluff - love blooming between two choir members.
Notes: this is my first fic and English isn’t my first language at all, unfortunately there will be mistakes that I’m willing to fix! Criticism is accepted 💗. Plus I don’t know anything about a choir so I’m just using the limited knowledge I have.
Ningning x fem!reader
Heads up - subtle homophobia I think, religious guilt, bad choir knowledge, shitty parents or even family, you are a bad person yourself honestly, and it’s mainly fluff considering this my first fic here.. I’ll explore more darker fics definitely!! This is kinda my worst fic yet.
Life, what is life? In your parents’ view, it is to serve God in all ways possible, with no exceptions granted. Bring glory to his name, mindlessly follow the rules forwarded through the holy Bible, and repent relentlessly for any sin dared to be committed. Influenced by their mindset, you had no choice but to obey. Obey every order from an elder, to pour respect and effort into your actions to avoid consequences.
As a child, you isolated yourself from other children: who desperately tempted you to join in their malicious acts against the teachers or such. It was wrong, so you never engaged in the so-called fun. Friends, you barely had any. Although the elementary school you went to was strictly Christian, there was nobody to relate to or play with.
In your spare time, your childhood memories consisted of exploring the parts of the playground no one knew about, not even the staff. Peacefully, you sat in an abandoned part, playing with a few toys. It got lonely sometimes, but eventually, you got used to it. At least there weren’t high-pitched screams piercing through your ear drums every lunch.
It was peaceful back then, you were a perfect daughter every mother prayed for in the church. Praised for your mere existence and the little mess-ups you did were excused for having a ‘bad day’.
Most kids had no comment about you, some disliked you but the adults adored you.
You had a big advantage.
Remaining lovely and generous as a front, the secrets you have formed into a part of you. A part that no soul had any clue about. Lies and lies became a habit for you; your parents and teachers automatically believed you so it wasn’t hard to convince them.
Guilt easily ached your heavy heart soon enough, a voice behind your head pleading not to sin, again, again, again, and again. Distant memories cooped you in an endless hole of depravity, remember when you used to proudly relate to the priest’s preaching about anything? Honesty, kindness (not so really…), love, and honouring your mother and father. The basics, some speeches were aimed at the rebellious children forced to sit in the front, most of the time next to you, their naive parents believing you’ll rub them off with your bright soul.
You never bothered to interact with them, not even a glance batted at those.. freaks.
Growing up equalled growing sins in your hopeless terms and it never affected your lovely reputation. Only affects the inside. Unfortunately, visiting the church became more frequent, disturbing your spare time by helping out at charities (obviously only used to appear good) and forcing you to socialise at such events. At the end of the day, the one part prominent to you was cosying underneath your warm blankets and scrolling endlessly at what your overly strict parents considered ‘forbidden’ media.
The only time when you’re not pressured to fake a sickly smile to kittle teenagers stuck next to you at the seats or doing over-the-top decorations for a party, but your name was mentioned in the credits most of the time, so it’s a little worth it due to your outstanding ego.
One boring morning, your younger sister was still asleep, the kitchen had just you and your mother. It was normal, helping make breakfast for the rest of the family, and forcefully giggling at your mother’s awful jokes to be more appealing. To be the beloved favourite of hers. A suggestion, no, it meant a demand, piqued your interest in the dragged conversation.
“Y/n, dear, you should join the church’s choir.”
A choir? Never in your dreams, have you aspired to be in any music-related activities. Yes, you do a bit too much karaoke every week, never considering your singing ‘skills’. You believed you had talents in nothing except deceiving others.
Drawing.. you’ve tried before, but you terribly failed. Compared to your younger sister, you were like an infant holding a pencil for the first time. Knitting, no, you engaged it once to get along with the older ladies at one of the Bible sessions you were shoved into. Writing, you never picked up a pen besides for anything work-related so no. None of your stories were interesting at all, only criticism filled up your English essay.
Singing was never on your list yet you had no choice but to ‘enthusiastically’ accept the proposal.
“Ah, a choir? Mother, my singing skills aren’t the best.” You subtly tried to hint through your hesitation, but it didn’t work. That stuck-up bitch stuck in her fantasies of gaining more praise for raising you so ‘talented’ and ‘well’.
“Then you will improve, y/n. The choir is a perfect place to do so. Starting tomorrow, you’re going.” Without approval, your mother immediately made the reservation with a few texts on her phone. Scoffing under your breath, you bit your inner cheek to refrain from a sly remark against her.
“When.. mother?”
“10 am, with a fresh mind and you’ll have fresh vocals! Right, y/n?” Failing her expectations of you giggling at the terrible joke, you remained mute besides a lazy hum.
Unbothered to be involved with her any longer, you stormed off to the comfort of your own room upstairs. Closing the door with a noticeable thud, you doubt that your mother would hear that anyway as you let out a long, muffled sigh against your soft pillow.
You wanted to scream. God knows now how many days of the week are going to be wasted on something you would never be passionate about. And so early in the morning too? Are you a robot or something, do they expect for you to be all flowers and sunshines the moment you step into that horrible place again? Honestly, it’s better to be over with.
Whatever.
Dolled up, you evened out the lipgloss by pressing them together, focused on the pretty tint glazing over your smooth lips. At least you look good. Too focused on yourself, you unintentionally ignored your mother's strained yells from downstairs to get your rear down there.
When arrived, the usuals were here, some goodies and some... there was one girl you didn’t recognise well. At all. You never saw her around the church or even the area.
Tuning out the obnoxious choir practices nearby, you narrow your eyes to get a better look at her before being yanked over to introduce yourself better to the teacher who was thrilled to meet you. Briefly, you murmured a greeting, as your mother and the teacher spoke to one another, your mind drifted off to somewhere else. The unknown girl, who is she?
A new girl like you? In your case, you weren’t new, everybody knew you or at least heard about you around here of course. Just new in the choir. Either way, you had no control over your spiralling thoughts only containing a fleeting imagery of her, you barely saw her properly.
Finally, their prolonged conversation came to an end. Dragging your feet to one of the seats assigned to you, fortunately, you were at the back. With the stranger right next to you, a knot formed in the front of your throat involuntarily.
Anxiety, the feeling felt foreign for a person like you. Somehow, nobody had the guts to do anything for your heart to clench, your palms turning sweaty, your cheeks turning into a crimson red hue, and—
“Hey, are you okay? You seem nervous,” a strangely sweet voice pierced through your rambling inner voices all jumbled together, it made you have a headache now as a result. “H-Huh? Oh no... it’s nothing,” you breathed out, saying anything without a single thought. Even if it didn’t sound convincing in the slightest: usually this would be the opposite! Whoever was questioning was supposed to be nervous and you were the one feigning concern.
Curiosity had the best of you, your peering eyes took a peek of where the direction of that soothing voice came from. Expectingly, it was that new girl. Wishing you never looked, unintentionally having a fluttery heartbeat, you pinched your nose to snap out of it. Out of this. Ugh, probably this is occurring out of this weird nervousness.
Unfocused on the sets of instructions monotonously poured out to deal with; you could not care less to pretend to acknowledge it, there wasn’t any point in having a good first impression since that lady already heard the endless, exaggerated praises about you. Just like the rest, she’ll naively be comforted by the unintentional lies.
Setting the overly complex sheets in front of you as you followed the others, the words displayed upon them start to blur, replacing the unknown symbols with a barely familiar face. Her. Out of it, your eyes dawned, the spark eventually fading away as the daydreams consumed the concentration that lasted for a few seconds or so. Noises from the others tuned out, you were only focused on your heavy breathing.
Warmth occupied your side, jerking you away from the clear distraction lingering around. Unaware you just attracted it instead. “The teacher told me to help you since you looked… unfamiliar with this environment.” There it goes again, the voice magically casting a blossom of butterflies in your stomach. And the fucking irony in the sentence, isn’t that girl the one new here anyways?
Help you? Today must be Opposite Day, right? Always, you’ve been nudged to help the unwilling teens with the activities, letting their hatred for the latter become a beautiful thing: passion. (The one thing you cared about the so-called ‘passion’ was getting your name in the credits, to be the one who inspired them).
“I don’t need help.” You affirmed and the forced smile displayed didn’t convince much with your nails clawing the wooden desk underneath subtly in growing irritation for the blissfully unaware other.
“May I stand with you to appear as if I’m helping you, then?” No, of course not! The sentence was the perfect example of your burning hatred formed against her, to sway her away from you as far as possible. Just before, she was so.. captivating. Now, she is straight-up annoying and insensitive. Looks do perceive.
“Tell your name,” a thought blurted through your clenched teeth, manifested in the air like an unsettling and disgusting grumble. Which does not suit your appearance. At all.
“Ning, Ning Yizhou. I prefer people to call me by Ningning.” The last information was not needed, you have no desire for your precious title to be in the same sentence with this bitch's name.
Leaning near, your burning eyes locked in her curious ones. “Listen here, Yizhou. Just fucking stay out of my way, hm?” Those harsh words flatly uttered from your pink, glossy lips that the girl couldn't help but take note of. Evidently caught off-guard, nobody could blame her for the conflicted feelings churning in her. You were described as the epitome of an angel, nonetheless, acted so audacious towards her. Isn't she supposed to be treated better on the first day since she is new? Not that she is special or anything, maybe it is her fault to have such high expectations. Especially from you.
Obliging a smile to restrain the shaky suspires, a transparent clue to her vulnerability, she inhaled for you not to notice how affected she was. How sensitive she was. Your warning made sense though, she should stray away from you as far as the old town on the coast she came from. Did anybody hear about the incident over there? Has it gone all over different places, to be a lesson for children not to desperately try to fulfil their fantasies? Forbidden fantasies.
Did you know about it? Hopefully not, it's one of the shameful excuses she had left to move from the past. From that hell. God had mercy upon her for once in a while except for her abruptly changing towns, the first lesson was briefly 20 minutes resulting in it feeling like a fleeting leaf in the autumn wind. To let the uncomfortable students adapt to the environment.
Girls huddled around separately away from the boys to avoid such scoldings and gossip, some giggled high-pitched constantly eyeing them behind their shoulder with no care of getting caught by the miserable elder ladies who had no purpose but to humiliate others beneath them.
You had no choice, with a huff and rolling your eyes expressing your obvious displeasure, joined in. Eavesdropping their confessions amidst the loud whispers, you committed in memory just in case one of these swine messed around with you. As if they had the guts to do so in the first place.
Unknown to you, Ning joined in subtly, keenly listening at the back. Some girls noticed she wasn't familiar, so the best thing in the plan they had in their non-existent brains was to interrogate her. Kindly, of course.
"You're the new girl, right?" Hesitation marred Ning's features before stiffly nodding the confirmation, a smile plastered on her lips. Questions chirped in, analysing her whole character shamelessly.
"What's your name?"
"Where are you from?"
"You're very pretty, how'd you do your make-up?"
"Why did you come here? No offence."
"Are you that lesbo from Warthford?"
What? Knitting your eyebrows together, all the girls fell abruptly silent at the absurd question. You did too, confusion and a weird sense of protectiveness clouding your judgement.
"Your name is Ning Yizhou—and that lesbo's name was that too— I've heard." Nonchalantly, the girl explained with a lazy shrug to excuse herself. Indignation bubbled up inside you, your morals finally screaming at you to do something about this nonsense.
"Rachel, when can you shut the fuck up for once?" Suddenly, you subconsciously forced yourself into the irritating conversation that obviously was meant to degrade the other girl: subtly. You knew how these religious hypocrites were. Always careful in their words, the meaning is hidden behind their affectionate facade heavily contrasting.
The girl, Rachel, unmistakably appalled at how boldly you spat those words directly at her stood there frozen at a loss of words to justify herself. Or try to stand up for herself, to you? In her hopeless dreams perhaps.
“Apologise.” No obligations were needed, that bitch had to sense even her friends eyed her expectingly, although secretly disappointed in how this encounter went against their wants.
Timid silence was all you got, words unable to now spew from her rotten-spoken mouth. Did you really have to repeat yourself?
“Why aren’t you apologising yet?” Tauntingly tilting your head towards the girl, you stared at her with exaggerated wide eyes. The other girls around including Ning didn’t dare to interfere, only acting, not wanting to be under your wrath as well.
“Why would I?” Shocking.
“Because you were being rude to her, no?” You deadpanned as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“I don’t care.” The audacity, you wanted to beat sense into that whore quick.
Pressing your lips tightly to prevent any obscene insults learnt from the internet, your hands palmed into fists. Most of the time, you argue with your younger sister, screaming at her explicit and vile remarks for that rat to snitch on you. Yet nobody believes her. So funny, now it’s this cunt’s turn to experience it.
No doubt your sister loathes you, trying to spread scandalous rumours about you in her school, resulting in getting caught by your close ‘friends’ in the process. Her reputation was at stake too as one of the many consequences she had, the way she’s tolerated just because you’re her older sister.. how upsetting indeed.
Anywho, you yanked her collar close out of nowhere causing startled gasps from the others. “Rachel,” a threat clear under those plainly spoken words, your eyes firmly maintained eye contact with hers. “Tsk, it’s like you’re begging me to leak those pics of you.” Quietly, you made sure nobody eavesdropped that except her, making sure that she knew well how much of a grip you really had on her.
Eventually, the girl gave in stubbornly, ushering a whispered apology which you did not let Ning accept.
“Again, it’s too quiet, I only heard crickets.”
Yet not giving her any chances to finish her mumbling speech, firmly interrupting her carelessly and had full advantage since she and nobody else could say anything about it.
“Yizhou, you shouldn’t accept this filthy apology.” The ‘shouldn’t’ in your vocabulary literally equalled ‘mustn’t’, not that the latter didn’t know because from her (disturbingly specific) mental analysis of you, you were the type to be like that. Not like that she minds, it is the opposite.
“It’s okay, Regina, right?” Pent-up laughter burst out from the other girls at the silly unintentional mistake Ning who didn’t notice herself made, the other girl grumbled grudgingly “Rachel.”
Before Ning seized the opportunity to pathetically blabber nervous apologies for her frequent uncontrollable habits she kept, fortunately, the girl was gone and you let out an exasperated sigh purposefully to draw her attention.
“Yizhou, let’s go.” Just like your infuriating mother, you did inherit some personality traits from her besides the intimidating beauty, such as how boldly demanding you are. No suggestions, no protests, and no questions asked, you clearly expected Ning to follow along obediently with her pretty lips sewed shut.
Shock was written all over her face, she hesitated, before eventually trailing behind you like a lost stray dog out of the church.
“..Uhh, why am I with you right now?” The question turned out sharper than she intended, it’s not that she didn’t like being near you. Even when she only met you earlier back for the first time. Something about you in general, no matter how incredibly rude you were, drew Ning in blindly.
“Don’t you want to be?” With no thought, your eyes drifted back to the direction you sauntered, there was no location in mind. A walk outside is best to wind down, is what you planned, for some reason you automatically assumed Ning is the sort to like those types of activities. Specifically when it is placed in nature.
Tension warred between you two, yet you didn’t notice at all, perfectly content with the thickened atmosphere. “I-I do, of course I do. You seem nice to hang out with.” Politely, Ning chirped in, internally a panicking mess that she came off too rude. Not knowing you came across many ruder incidents, so you didn’t care one bit. It’s not like she can be capable of being so mean, especially towards you.
“Hmm,” lazily humming along, your gaze focused on Ning’s face that you didn’t realise how… attractive it was so up close, her breath hitched at the realisation how your noses nearly touched each other.
“Aren’t you a little too close?” Teasingly, you tilted your head: suppressing a giggle at how easily a red hue coloured her cheeks, yet she stilled. Not moving one inch away from your body.
You enjoyed it.
“I want to be, may I?” Taken aback immediately, you simply blinked slowly at her desperately trying to grasp what she just asked with such determination flaming in her eyes. Is this a joke? A prank?
You two aren’t familiar with each other, although you craved her more than you realised. Your breaths turned sharper than usual, becoming ragged pants as a crimson red painted your entire sweaty face. Embarrassingly; this is the first time you ever felt like this. A fucking hot mess.
“Yizhou—“
“Ningning.” She cuts off firmly, keeping eye contact with you daring for you to say anything else about the silent arrangement.
Continuing on with your words, you mumbled, shakiness creeping up with your jumbled-up gibberish. “Ningning, we’re in public. I’d... I’d rather not get caught.” The reputation you worked on, you wouldn’t even risk for this mysterious girl that you really wanted to label as an admirer. Hopefully, shortly, you will have the possibility to do so.
“I’m not kissing you or anything, what’s there to be caught of? Were you hoping that I did?” Completely frozen, you gawked at her, not knowing what else to jab back at her. Right now, you feel like Rachel and it’s safe to say you hate it.
You woelly did hope for her to lean in, and softly pamper your lips with her sweet lipgloss. How fucking pathetic are you behind the tough front?
“Kiss me.” You finally whispered.
“Kiss you,” Ning echoed softly, a smile stretching her lips that you so badly wanted to devour at this point. You didn’t care if you were like a pathetic puppy in dear need of affection, you needed her. Bad.
Expecting a full-on make-out session, instead, you had disappointing yet many disgusting butterflies invading your stomach involuntarily hasty peck on the corner of your lips.
“You need to try harder to get that kiss, baby.” Next thing you know— Ning gave you a teasing air kiss— before disappearing within your blurred sight with tears. Tears of frustration.
Oh, how you wanted to slap her!
How hopefully you wanted to slap your lips against hers.
“NINGNING, YOU FUCKING BITCH!”

you can hear the sound of yizhou learning how to play different riffs on her guitar. it's endearing and warm how hard she's trying to nail this one piece to play it for you.
you think that yizhou would make such a hot rockstar girlfriend, not that you would say it to her face. it would probably inflate her ego too much.
"baby! come eat lunch." yizhou's too into her playing, barely processing that you've said something to her. so you tap her shoulder and her head whips up to look at you. she smiles and takes the guitar off of herself, setting it on the stand.
you both walk to the kitchen, you grab both bowls and place them on the table, as yizhou grabs utensils. and when she sits downs she smiles at you.
"i think i'm going to be able to finish that song by tomorrow." she speaks with pride. you're proud of her, for trying so hard to play the guitar. you grab her hand, squeezing it for encouragement.
yizhou smiles and digs into her bowl of noodles, happily slurping it. you watch and adore how cute she looks, eyes intently watching her noodles, a frustrated expression when the noodles slip through her chopsticks.
--
you think about that night all those months ago, at aeri's party. how heartbroken you both were, feeling a tear in your relationship, wanting so badly to mend it with your own hands. so you tried, getting yizhou professional help. yizhou's been seeing a specialist, getting help with her dependency on drugs. understanding why her mood swings are so dire.
you try and sit in with her most sessions, sometimes yizhou would rather you just sit outside in the waiting room. when you sit outside of the room, you wonder if she'll ever confide in you with what she isn't willing to share. most of all you are just proud she takes each session in stride even if she doesn't want to attend.
it's been a lot of up and downs with her mood swings, but at the end of the day she always tells you how much she loves you. she thanks you for sticking by her. some days she throws things around when she's unstable, when her mood is so off that she can't contain the emotions she's feeling.
other days she completely shuts you out, staying in her room for hours on end with no sound. you get worried at times that she'll completely shut you out but it never lasts for longer than a day.
usually she'll crawl into your room when its so late you're already asleep and cuddle into your side. there have been a few times you wake up when she does it, other times you sleep through the night and wake up with yizhou next to you, probably playing with your hair.
it doesn't matter if she shuts you out or is attached to your hip the whole day, you will always be there as a space for her when she needs it.
you like to take long walks on days where yizhou is out. long walks to really think about your own wellbeing, how being with yizhou impacts you. how her actions can fill you up or let you down.
you talk to yizhou about it sometimes and she listens to you. letting you have the space to speak about your own struggles. you talk about how hurt you were that night when you caught her dancing up on some guy, but thinking it was you the whole time.
you cry into her shoulder as she cries into you. she still loves you, the same way she was when you two started dating. she tries to be more present with you, asking how you are doing as well. taking the time to care for you and pamper you as well.
--
aeri, minjeong, and jimin also visit often, getting little gifts for yizhou that always makes her smile. minjeong sometimes comes over with her guitar and everyone sits to watch them play songs together. you feel a deep warmth in your chest when they smile at each other while they're playing. you're eternally grateful for these girls, that they take the time to care for yizhou just as much as you do.
you talk about it with aeri, minjeong and jimin one day, how much you appreciate them. they all cry at the sight of you breaking down, comforting you when you explain how hard all this has been on you.
--
you've decided to take yizhou to a festival, letting her enjoy her favorite artists. the whole time you've spent enjoying the vibe of the festival and swaying with yizhou while you hug her.
she's lovely at singing, you discover through the festival. that night when you drive home you request that she sings more often. she gets bashful at the comments, but sings to you nonetheless. you think you can hear the sound of love through her voice, it brings you to tears.
some nights when you two are too tired to go out for dates, you enjoy drawing with yizhou, letting her creativity run free. she draws these beautifully intricate pieces depicting her thoughts and feelings about herself, or how frustrated she is with the world. you always take the time to listen to her explain each piece, so she awards you with a kiss after each one.
you can feel yizhou getting better over time, how she's more confident in expressing how she feels to you. there's less of a hesitation to explain to you how she's struggling or even to the other three girls.
yizhou's even convinced you to pick up the drums to accompany her playing, she claims you look extra hot with sweaty hair on your face and especially when you look so into it. you laugh at that because it honestly feels like you look like you're drenched in the rain.
she kisses you senseless when you say that, and she comments. "i can't wait to marry you one day. i hope our kids have your perseverance."
you blush at the compliment, thinking about marrying yizhou one day, and honestly yeah, you think you'll have to do it soon.

✦ a ning yizhou drabble (ft. minjeong)
✧˖°. cw! winter as readers bff, unrequited love (winter), soulmate!au, red string of fate!au, winter x karina, winter is in denial, angst, fluff

"𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝙞'𝙢 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘪 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝘪 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙'𝙣𝙩; 𝘮𝘺 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩."
minjeong, your bestfriend since diapers (and neighbour), was sure that she'd be your soulmate. why? you ask, she saw the "signs". you two connected in more than one aspect, you two had a unique spark, you could talk endlessly, and the main reason she wouldn't like to admit, was she wished you would be her soulmate, her forever.
a spark is ignited in minjeong when you introduced her to the chinese transfer, ning yizhou. you started spending more and more time with her, referring to her as your bestfriend along with minjeong. yet, she held back. they're just bestfriends, we'll be soulmates. raced in her head as she leant into her delusions.
she eagerly waited for your and her's shared birthday (yes, the two of you were also born on the same day) and you held equal enthusiasm. you weren't sure who it'd be, you were just excited to have someone who'll hopefully love you.
her world is turned upside down on the day of her birthday; the clock struck twelve and she could see the outline of the red line slowly forming and the string tightening round her ring finger. you let out a gasp and her heart dropped to her stomach as she saw your string stretch out of the door as well as hers.
i'm not her soulmate. the statement lingered in her head as she heard your sweet voice, "i'm excited to see who it is, happy birthday minie!" your arms looped around her neck and you pulled her in for a lengthy hug. she couldn't believe it.
yizhou was over the moon and so were you. new blooming love came along with sweet and cozy dates, laughter, endless talking and lingering touches. you could be deemed oblivious by how you didn't decipher minjeong's heated glares and her stiff jaw.
jimin hadn't met minjeong beforehand, but she started thanking whoever that was above as soon as they did. she knew minjeong had a thing for you, everyone (expect you and yizhou) knew. but she was determined to take your place in minejeong's heart. she didn't look to be successful.
minjeong didn't understand why, you were hers. duh. wait— You weren't.
you were never hers, in the first place.
