What We Now Know of The Marvels

(I apologize in advance if I missed something, please bring it to my attention!)

The Marvels teaser trailer finally got released on Youtube on April 11, 2023, and has a release date set for November 10, 2023. Being part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are new plot points to explore after the conclusion of Phase Four, and explore a character that now fits the story after being introduced in Phase Four. In this post, I will go through the teaser trailer and discuss some points that stood out.

The teaser begins in the vast scenery of space, with Nick Fury instructing a space-suited Monica Rambeau to head towards a multi-colored border standing in space. When I saw it, the border somewhat looks exactly like the color and texture of Kamala Khan's powers. It's unknown what Fury and Monica are doing out in space, but Monica was clearly instructed to go and investigate this powerful border.

As Monica reached out for the border and made contact with it, she immediately got thrown back, and it isn't Monica's scream that we start to hear. Kamala Khan, or also known as Ms. Marvel, floats towards Fury, who squeals with delight when she sees THE Nick Fury. Kamala floats away uncontrollably, asking, "Is this an Avengers test?" Gosh, I love her.

Who knows what they are, but Monica was whipped away to what looks like the moon, and is forced to fight these aliens.

If you've seen Ms. Marvel, you know from the end credit in the finale that Kamala was thrown back by the powers of her bangle, causing her to wreck her closet door. When she stands up, it's not Kamala we see, but Carol Danvers. Carol is very shocked to see the atmosphere of Kamala's bedroom, seeing posters and drawings of herself. I mean, just look at the drawing Kamala drew of herself being friends with Captain Marvel! Carol immediately runs out of the room, and we'll see what happened right after that shot when we see the movie.

Moments later, Monica and Fury pay a visit to Kamala's home, meeting her family and asking for her. Kamala appears quickly, giddy to see Fury again, which makes her family confused. They sit down with Kamala's family as Monica explains that their powers are somewhat connected. How? Start making room for theories before the movie comes out.

Kamala decides to show her powers to everyone, and despite warnings, she uses her powers, which causes her to be thrown back again. Carol shows up again instead of Kamala, furious that she was transported somewhere else. Kamala's mother questions where their daughter is, concerned for her safety.

The place where Carol was before being transported to Kamala's house again is where Kamala was transported to. She lands in a sci-fi themed area on the ground, where she has a fateful meeting with Goose the cat/flerken; yes, the same lovable cat from the first movie, and also the cause behind Fury's eye. Kamala witnesses him beat a bunch of people with those tentacles that come out of his mouth, leaving her fearful. In a small clip of the teaser, we see multiple cats running down stairs, so are we going to see more of Goose's kind?! I can't wait to see more cats (I mean, flerkens) on my screen.

There are a few vibrant sceneries we get to see, as this will definitely be a movie filled with some brightly colored humor. The people on the right were dancing, and to me, it looks like a huge Bollywood scene.

Carol is wearing something that looks like a jellyfish that hides her face atop her head, and when she peeks out, she looks visibly concerned. Something tells me this planet will have some kind of chaos ignited.

We will be introduced to some new characters for the MCU in The Marvels, and fans are raving about it. Park Seo-joon, known for his roles in the South Korean dramas What's Wrong with Secretary Kim and Itaewon Class, will be playing the role of Prince Yan D'Aladna, and in the teaser, he appears to be leading his soldiers towards something, shouting as a battle cry. On the right, we see Zawe Ashton, who is set to play a character named Ael-Dan, and fans are loving to see the footage of her already. I can't wait to see more of these two characters.

JUST LOOK AT HER FACE! Kamala gets the opportunity to travel through space with Monica and her hero, Carol. Kamala will love every second of it, and she definitely accepts that they're all a team, even if Carol and Monica disagree.

Please, they're definitely a team. The three women are ready to shine and show off their powers, and we'll be here for it.

Captain Marvel is one of the movies that mean a lot to me as a woman, and I am a big fan of Ms. Marvel with its Muslim representation, unique cinematography, and how relatable Kamala Khan is; a big fangirl of the Avengers and loves to write fanfiction. I know that Monica will definitely mean a lot to young black girls out there, as they get to see another strong Black female superhero on their screens. These women will display strong empowerment and have us cheering at the screen, and I can't wait to see them fight in their new suits.

The Marvels is set to release November 10, 2023.

We're in the Diverse MCU Antagonist Era Now

The MCU has been around for a long time now, hasn't it? When it began with 'Iron Man' fourteen years ago I was ten years old! Now I'm 24 and I just watched 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'. Wow!

As the years have gone by I've noticed how much better the villains have become in the wake of fans' exhaustion with one-dimensional villains. And now we're getting a wave of diverse antagonists in the MCU. Look at this.

Yes, these are the primary antagonists of the recent and upcoming movies and series in the MCU. Tenoch Huerta just made a stunning debut as Namor; Jonathan Majors is about to take the MCU by storm as a fully realized (and villainous) take on Kang the Conqueror; Chukwudi Iwuji will be making his debut as the maniacal High Evolutionary in GOTG Vol. 3; Anthony Ramos will portray The Hood, a magical-wielding supervillain; Kingsley Ben-Adir will play the Rebel Skrull leader Gravik in Secret Invasion, and Zawe Ashton is playing an antagonist named Ael-Dan in The Marvels.

And we can't forget some of the other diverse antagonists that got a chance to shine in Phase 4 like:

Phase 4 has been the most diverse phase in the MCU and it's been absolutely fantastic. These actors have provided such depth and enjoyment in these series and movies and I can't wait to see what the new actors present to us in their upcoming roles.

In conclusion, I LOVE MARVEL STUDIOS.

Dia akan mempersiapkan dirinya untuk pertempuran apabila diperlukan, sambil tetap waspada terhadap setiap tanda bahaya yang mungkin muncul. Azrael akan mencoba mencari tahu kelemahan dari bayangan itu, menyiasati senjata apa yang cocok dan mengambil tindakan yang diperlukan (seperti membaca Yasin) untuk melindungi dirinya dan rekan-rekannya dari ancaman yang mungkin timbul.

Arjuna Nawasena.

Arjuna akan mencoba berkomunikasi dengan bayangan hitam melalui bahasa simbol dan ritual kuno, kalau gak bisa mungkin melalui bahasa kalbu. Dia akan mencoba memahami kebutuhan atau tujuan dari entitas tersebut, dengan harapan dapat menemukan solusi yang damai dan saling menguntungkan.

Jatmiko Isaac Roesdi.

Jatmiko yang analitis akan mencoba memahami pola perilaku dan motif dari bayangan hitam tersebut. Dia akan melakukan observasi menyeluruh, mencari tau apakah itu membawa ancaman atau justru kesempatan untuk berteman. Jatmiko akan mengumpulkan data dan informasi yang diperlukan untuk membuat keputusan yang tepat, mulai dari umur, tempat tinggal, sejarah hidup, dan status hubungan, kemudian dia akan mengajukan rencana tindakan yang sesuai dengan situasi yang dihadapinya.

Zavion Tarangga.

Zavion yang dewasa akan mencoba membina hubungan yang baik dengan bayangan hitam tersebut. Dia akan mengambil pendekatan yang lebih lunak dan bertindak sebagai perantara, semoga gak saling suka karena nanti kasian Hawa. Zavion akan mencoba menggali informasi tentang maksud dari kehadiran bayangan itu dengan cara yang tidak mengancam, sambil tetap waspada terhadap kemungkinan bahaya yang mungkin timbul setelahnya.

Elijah Rod Fajreshka.

Elijah akan mencoba menganalisis situasi dengan cermat dan mencari solusi yang paling efektif. Dia akan menggunakan pengetahuannya tentang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi untuk mencari tahu lebih lanjut tentang sifat dan asal usul bayangan hitam tersebut meskipun Google dan sinyal kadang menjadi penghalang di tengah kondisi. Elijah akan berusaha menemukan cara untuk memecahkan misteri dengan pendekatan yang logis dan rasional, sambil tetap menghormati aspek-aspek spiritual dan gaib dari situasi tersebut dengan teknologi yang tetap berdampingan.

Ce serait différent si ces mots que j'écris étaient ceux d'un roman qui allait être lu par du monde. Je pourrais être complètement tranquille. Là, je suis bien, un peu stone de fatigue, les bras posés, le cul sur mon mini fauteuil, les jambes levées sur la chaise, le capuchon du hoodie relevé, mon cache-cou enroulé jusqu'au menton, les manches avançant jusqu'à la base des pouces, le casque sans fil et annulant les bruits de l'extérieur sur les oreilles me déversant des notes de piano mélancoliques et belles. L'expérience est bonne, je dirais même parfaite.

Il y a juste cet anicroche, ce petit truc qui cloche, ce léger malaise : à quoi ça sert ? Pourquoi passer autant de temps à faire un truc qui ne sert à rien, que je ne peux montrer à personne, et qui ne m'est pas objectivement utile. Du temps perdu. Des lignes que je ne relirai jamais, ni moi ni personne d'autre. Et je suis là, la vie passant, à décrire mes pensées, mes impressions, mes sensations, encore et encore. Je fais quoi ? Je tente de goûter un peu plus consciemment. Je m'occupe. Je m'isole. Je fais un truc que j'aime faire. Je me donne un moment de confort, de détente, de liberté. C'est ça qui cloche, en fait ?

Si du monde lisait un jour ces lignes. En fait, je n'aurais pas besoin de savoir ce qu'ils en pensent, je n'aurais pas besoin qu'ils soient des milliers. J'aurais juste besoin de savoir que ces lignes sont lues, c'est tout. Qu'elles donnent à quelqu'un d'autre que moi. Et que cet autre puisse sentir un merci à mon égard, du respect, de la reconnaissance, de la considération. Pas tant de grands mots, pas de vénération, pas d'adulation, pas d'admiration (peut-être un peu d'admiration). Juste un « merci, c'est bon de lire ça, je m'y retrouve, ça me parle, ça m'éclaire, ça me fait du bien (tout en me faisant du mal peut-être) ». C'est tout. Pas l'écrasante solitude. Pas le vide, le désert, le silence.

Je revois cette image du berger seul dans ses collines qui meurt avec pour seul témoin son troupeau de chèvres.
