3 Roles Pankaj Tripathi played to Perfection, the actor who aces the web game
Tumblr media
The versatility observed in his performances has earned him a solid reputation and has left a mark for the most of us. Give him any role and we know he will ace it to perfection. Be it unconventional roles or seemingly quintessential characters, he has, with full dexterity, managed to give stellar hits. Here we unravel the absolute most fascinating characters Pankaj Tripathi played on OTT screens.
 1.     Madhav Mishra in Criminal Justice - A crime cum prison drama, won Tripathi buckets of critical acclaim. For Madhav Mishra, who takes up Aditya’s case, it is a case clearly out of his league. In this series, Pankaj plays a struggling lawyer, who is fighting a battle for survival. This role lets him unleash his natural self as he portrays this character effortlessly. Be it his nuances, mannerisms or the way he delivers lines, it's hard to not be in awe of him.
 2.     Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur – The series brings alive the gang war and the earthy culture of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It revolves around Tripathi's iron-fisted character who is a mafia don of Mirzapur. The plot snowballs into a round of progression, aspiration, power and avarice, the whole texture of this untamed city gets undermined. Mysterious, intimidating and ruthless, Kaleen Bhaiya is one such character that the audiences would love to hate in the series.
  3.     Kehri Singh of Gurgaon – A movie that showcased Pankaj Tripathi's innate talent was Gurgaon. At the very basic it is an account of a broken family sibling rivalry in the tradition of Indian cinema. Pankaj Tripathi conveys a tasteful act as a control crack who neglects things to keep his brood together.

Gossip girls Actor Kareena Kapoor shoots the breeze with her team at a film studio
Money matters A MONTH after the Congress asked Arun Jaitley on his social media who the finance minister of India was, Jaitley is ready with an answer. Sources tell your diarist that Jaitley, who held the finance portfolio until he went for a kidney transplant on May 14, will return to office on August 14. On his social media page, Jaitley had criticised the Congress saying it only manufactured slogans while prime minister Narendra Modi provided resources. The Congress had retaliated and questioned his role. Congress’ communications head Randeep Surjewala asked Jaitley to also write a post on the state of India’s economy, since, he said, ministers without a portfolio speak on agriculture, the agriculture minister speaks on defence, the defence minister speaks on social justice and the social justice minister speaks on foreign policy. In Jaitley’s absence, railways minister Piyush Goyal has been given additional charge of the ministry. During Goyal’s charge, the opposition has had a field day questioning the government about who really holds the finance portfolio, especially since both Jaitley (via video conferencing) and Goyal commemorated the first anniversary of the GST as well as addressed the State Bank of India’s annual conclave.
Storm in a teacup FORMER Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief AS Dulat was in London to speak about his book ‘Spy Chronicles’, co-authored with former ISI chief Asad Durrani and journalist Aditya Sinha. While this unlikely Indo-Pak joint venture has been applauded for its frankness, it has not gone down very well with some Kashmiri activists. The genial Dulat and former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah were taken by surprise when a student at the SOAS objected to the holding of the event. Calling both Dulat and Durrani “collaborators” of the state, she said she was ashamed that SOAS had given them a platform. To make her point, she didn’t wait for an answer but stormed out instead.
New power couple? WE are all familiar with the likes of Hazel Keech, Priyanka Chaudhary, Geeta Basra, and, of course, Sakshi Dhoni, Anjali Tendulkar and Anushka Sharma, but not many have heard of Pooja Yadav. The attractive and articulate lady is the wife of Mohammad Kaif, the man who became a hero after his performance at Lord’s back in 2002. Based in Delhi, Yadav has been a corporate show host for the past decade. Now that Kaif has announced his retirement, Yadav wants to start a company with her famous husband. Since she is a prolific speaker, she has been guiding Kaif with his commentary. “No, I am not his guide but a critic,” she quips, adding that their future plans will be in the business of communication.
Making it legal EMINENT lawyer Raian Karanjawala’s family is growing bigger and so is his office. Or, so it seems. Last year, his lawyer daughter Tahira married her colleague Jatin Mongia. Now, we hear, his second daughter Niharika, also a lawyer in Karanjawala’s firm, has gotten engaged to advocate Yogendra Mishra, son of former Delhi High Court judge Sudershan Mishra. “My wife Manik is a lawyer, too,” Karanjawala reminds us. Niharika and Yogendra’s wedding is expected to be held in February and the run-up to the event will see several highprofile parties being hosted for the couple. Finance minister Arun Jaitley had hosted a dinner at his residence for Tahira’s wedding last year.
Tailpiece FLYING into Mumbai the other day (business class, naturally), the diarist experienced some air turbulence, but the monsoon clouds were not to blame this time. Right next to us was Bollywood’s newest couple indulging in some serious PDA. Things got a bit tricky when the inseparable twosome insisted on cuddling together on the same seat, even as the plane readied for take-off. This raised the hackles of a senior co-passenger who called out the actors by their names and insisted that the two take separate seats and belt up. The young male star, no doubt wanting to impress his debutante leading lady, put up a fight saying stars should not be singled out, but the older co-passenger kept up his tirade. Eventually, after take-off and once the seatbelt sign was switched off, the love birds quietly exchanged their seats with other passengers, no doubt for some giggles and quiet time.
