My favorite and most accessible parts of this collection were like travel accounts. Lorde toured around Russia in the 70s? And mused about the differences between communist and capitalist societies. Then she went to her homeland in Grenada during the American invasion to report on the brutality of that senseless adventure. - “hooray for us! Don’t worry about Vietnam! We can still win a war against brown people!”

Discussions of “the erotic” as a source of power in women (not sexual, but feeling, and creative?) - were very interesting. Just spiritual enough to be attractive to me, but I had a hard time understanding.

Similarly interesting were discussions of ANGER as a white-hot potent force for creativity, - just as long as it’s pointed upwards toward our oppressors, rather than sideways at each other, - the most accessible target for that RAGE we all feel, whether we can keep it bottled up or not.
